BOSE QuietComfort QC25 - Noise Cancellation Test Demonstration (mini review)

- Want to hear how effective the active noise cancellation is on the Bose QC25 headphones on an Airplane, in an Office, at a Bar, on the Street, etc?
I love these headphones for reducing the ambient noise levels around the home and at the office. I haven't seen any reviews demonstrating the capabilities of the QC25 in different environments so I conducted a not-so scientific test myself.
As you'll hear the headphones do a great job cancelling most noises but higher frequency noises such as talking will still get through. This is the case with all ANC headphones as far as I'm aware and cannot be avoided. But if you turn on some music in the background it will help drown out any leftover noise. Also keep in mind that some of the noises we hear are caused through vibrations through our body (like the noise when someone knocks on your head). Obviously these headphones won't cancel those noises and you will never have an absolute dead silent experience with today's active noise cancellation products.

It doesn't really work with a micro in the ear, because the membrane of the microphone is way more stiff than the membrane from the human ear, which means, that the result is even better than shown on the Video, but good enough for an overview of the nice feature!

That was the best test i've ever seen! Thank you! I've got these phones and they are so nice! They active cancel the booming low frequency, tiring noise from any environment. I want to adapt them attaching mic as a plane pilot set
Excellent test. After comparing Bose, Sony and Sennheiser I decided to go for the Sennheiser PXC 550, but your test is a great demo for ANC in general.
Hi I bought these headphones on Amazon as I got a really good deal which I couldn't resist and with this review I became more confident that I will be using one of the best noise cancellation headphones. Thank you so much.
Another good "litmus test" for active noise cancelling headphones is a laundromat. I have a set of Audio Technica ANC 27 and they can really tame the Beast that is multiple Speed Queen commercial washing machines in a spin cycle. The only way I knew they were in spin cycle was to feel the vibration of the floor. You might consider such a environment for a future review. Unique but very nice review style. Well done.

I just bought a Bose QC 25s like a week ago, I can't put them down. I enjoy it so much I escape the world of listening to true music.. for 320.00 dollars it was worth every penny.
This is the industry leader in noise cancelling. Other Bose models, Sony's top model, Zik Parrot, will all sound similar or worse. High frequency sounds like barking dogs, babies crying, violins playing, girls screaming, car horns, will not be affected much. Only lower lower frequency CONSTANT sounds BUT not such low frequencies like rock bands or thunder...You will hear that too. Noise cancelling has come along way, but it still has a long way to go.....This was an excellent test and example of the best in what noise cancelling is today, thank you Mr. Zhang for that outstanding demonstration.
that is not 100% true regarding the barking dogs,babies crying etc... it mutes them quite a bit. specifically if they are already 5 meters or more away, it will drown them.
Only guy that actually knows how to test headphones, idk if you get them by yourself but if you do you should get sponsored or something so you can check out more headphones

Thank you for a good video on the ANC of the QC25. I have some follow up questions and you may have answered this before in the comments, my apologies if that is the case.
Have you tried them on a flight? At what dB-level did you do this test? Would be fun if you can them with airplane cabin noise at 75-80 dB from a youtube video. No need for another video.
Also, have you thought about doing a comparison video with all the new Shenzhen ANC-headphones coming out? e.g Zinsoko Z-H01.

Yoo, really good demonstration man!!! So it doesn't seem like the ANC works very well with any noises that doesn't have a constant frequency, which is really disappointing since talking and sudden noises are the noises I want to cancel out. Can you test the QC35's the same way?

Great video! Thank you very much! A few questions: So noise from talking (like the bar crowd) is only reduced with the noise cancellation, doesn not completely disappear? Any experience with dog barking? Do I understand correctly that we don’t need to play any music for the nc to work? Finally how about the cq35 model, is the nc any better or is it just that they are wireless? I don’t see you using cable so for nc only, it is not needed, correct? Noise cancelling technology has difficulty with higher pitched sounds like dogs barking or people talking. It's most effective against deeper bass sound waves like air plane engines, refrigerators, air conditioners, and lawn mowers. In my experience with ANY noise cancelling you can still hear a dog barking, unfortunately. You don't need to play music to turn the NC on with Bose head phones. Infact many people buy them for that exact reason to fly with so they can sleep during the flight not hearing the jet engines. The NC in the BOSE 35s is equal to the 25s, not better.

I notice they are quite good at cancelling the low thuds from the train track. Would you expect a similar effect for those sounds if they didn't repeat in regular intervals? (there are kids playing soccer outside my window, which produces low and irregular thuds when they kick the ball)
