This is a very intricate job, but this is a very helpful video which captures the most critical parts very well. I just need to order a soldering iron now!

would go for a TS100 or a Pinecil for that.

My QC25 suddenly refused to turn on as if the battery was dead. I asked for help from local Bose agent but it seems they are unable to carry out any repairs. They offered me a 10% discount on a new QC45. I found this site and it appeared that we had exactly the same problem. Design weakness?? With the help of this video, I was able to fix my headphones. Not a job for the faint-hearted though but I have a well-equipped electronics workshop with the right equipment. It seems that Bose is going for the "throw-away" and not repair strategy like so many even top-end equipment producers. Very annoying and worrying.
    Thanks Purkkaviritas

Bose is just a badge and a name that is not necessarily better; just much more expensive. There are much better and more reliable headphones that are much cheaper; easier to use; although not quite as comfortable. I love the JBL 660 Tunes headphones that sound great for all kinds of music. Bose is apparently for rich people who can afford to junk a lemon and afford to take a risk on upgrading to a newer and more expensive model.

Just a couple of points after reading the other comments. The battery wires are about 0.7mm. I used an inner wire from a defective USB cable - right size and worked well. I also noticed the noise that someone mentioned. I'm sure it was feedback but once the metal cover was replaced, it was OK. Note that there is a tiny rubber gasket on the outwards-facing microphone. This is almost certainly part of the front-to-rear acoustic isolation. Mine fell off when I removed the metal cover and fortunately, I found it by accident on the floor just before I re-assembled the unit. Watch out for this!

Thank you. Mine just stopped working - same symptoms. I'm hopeful that when this move is completed (and I have access to my tools and electronics again) the fix will be this easy.

8:15 the old solder looked pretty messy so if you have a solder wig, sucking out the old solder here would be a good idea. Using some extra flux would also make soldering the wire a bit easier.
Other than that, the only hard part seems to be to remove the plastic battery door without breaking it.

Hey, thanks for this video. I followed along and soldered the cable back to the hinge door as it had come loose. I put everything back together and turned it on and it worked! But it let out a really loud high pitched noise? The noise stopped and hasn't happened again but should I be worried? Thanks for any advice!

Great video! Have you had issues with the power switch yet? It's my understanding that the power switch is the most common weak part of these headphones.

Thanks. Nice job and well done. I’ve gone through it and succeeded but unfortunately once the power works it gives me (occasionally) a strong audio feedback, of course only when I switched it on. Could you have an idea how to fix it ? Thx

After owning Q45s for a couple of years without much use, I suddenly cannot connect to BT. I have tried everything. I can connect these headphones via an adapter and a cable on a music app on an iPhone that sounds great but is not as convenient as BT. I don't recommend these headphones because of sound balancing and connectivity issues that do not completely resolve. The App is not user friendly. You are basically on your own after buying a very expensive pair of badge headphones that don't always live up to their name. JBL headphones that are way cheaper are much more reliable and easy to use. JBL sound quality is better than Bose and has more bass.

Would anyone have the wire diameter of the replacement one? I was thinking about a 0,2mm ² but I'm not sure it is small enough.
I need to order it, my shop doesn't have such a small section.

anything that fits is good enough, the amperage is so tiny that it wont matter really.

@@Purkkaviritys I loved your video and ordered a soldering iron kit and I have everything but the wire which came with the kit does not go through the headphone hole. Can you please suggest some wire, it is really confusing to find the wire online or in-store. Any help appreciated !!

@@shekharhamilpur7213 I would look for for ex. wire wrapping wire, it is rather thin or things between 20-30 AWG (look up a awg chart to get an idea how thin/thick the wire is)

Oletko vielä tekemässä näitä kuulokkeiden fixaus videoita? Mulla olisi QC35 kuulokkeet joita en saanut itse fixattua. Voisin maksaa jos korjaisit ne ja tietenkin olisi hieno bonus jos siitä olisi video 😊
