    The best coping mechanism for me is keeping really busy. Going for long walks with the dogs. Cleaning the house, cooking - other chores..and I don't go to sleep unless I am completely and utterly exhausted. In that way, I can sleep for 5-6 hours. But I don't expect to sleep more, because I won't. Waking up during the night is awful.

      @bittenbech1266 How long have you had Tinnitus and do you hear it in both ears and head? Mine is in both ears and my head buzzing-static electricity. I try and stay very busy and I use my phone to listen to sound therapy and I listen to my sound machines. At night I have my fan on, sound machine and my tv on oven waves black screen. Mine is 24/7 I never get a break and can’t even work.

      How long have you had Tinnitus? Do you take anything to sleep at night? Does food and caffeine affect your tinnitus? I have extended high frequency hearing loss.

    I had tinnitus for 20 years. It didn’t really bother me, because since I became aware I had it, I considered it “the new normal.” Most of the times I’m not even aware of it. But it’s there all the time.

    I don't agree with him saying document your feelings about Tinnitus, I think that's the last thing you should do , that is focusing on it and giving it the attention . Just living your life and not paying attention to it is a much better approach . The more you document it is the more your paying attention to it , not a good idea , maybe it worked for him but people that have had it for 30 , 40 or 50 years have learn to just cope with it .

    • @xxo5294

      I think you’re wrong. It’s like journaling. You’re acknowledging your feelings and what’s going on, sometimes that helps you think about things and process them rather than pretending to ignore them and bottle everything up.
      I’m suffering with this curse for about a month and a half now. Having a hard time accepting that this is what the rest of my life is going to be like. But here I am, trying my best

    • @seanburdelik5216
      @seanburdelik5216 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@xxo5294 Paying attention to it all the time not the right approach , you've only had it for a month n a half so it's normal to focus on it all the time in the beginning . People who focus on it constantly never fully habituate to it or they don't habituate it all . If you think I'm wrong you'll just have to find out the hard way

    Thanks brother I’ve had it for a year and two months I’ve been suffering for the last couple of months and mentally it’s been draining I can’t help but focus on the noise and have these dooming thoughts about the future but I’m really trying to get out of that now because this is my life now and it doesn’t have to be a bad thing to have tinnitus I have it for a reason I don’t know why but I know it isn’t my ears fault so I’m trying to adapt now but it’s still hard when half of me is still frightened so it’s baby steps but I know I have to slow down and not over force myself to get used to it because I know it’s causing anxiety but this is normal now and I have to get used to the noise going louder and sometimes going lower it’s just the way it is but at the moment I’m still stuck I’ll try the method mate cheers for the positivity.

    Hi Terry. I have a weird kind of Tinnitus. I have Somatic Tinnitus. It seems more physical. For example if i clinch my jaw tight I can hear the hissing get louder. Or if I squeeze my head right behind my ears I can hear the hiss get louder. My question. Can this method help with this Tinnitus? Any input would be greatly appreciated because I feel I’m alone. Thank you, Terry!

      Have you considered having your neck stretched ? I have a gravity machine which allows me to hang by my feet upside down. This cures my back pain. I am researching how to adapt the gravity machine (hang by feet) to hanging by head for tinnitus.
      In the 1700's there was a Dr. Mesmer in Paris, France. He became famous for curing many diseases and conditions. Patients came to his office and lay down on a sofa, while the doctor waved magnets over them. This was placebo medicine, however placebo has a 63% cure rate to this day. To get a medicine approved, the pharmaceutical company must prove 66% cure rate.

    The first thing anyone with tinnitus and or the sound of your blood flowing through the inside of your head needs to do is get both ears syringed out. Your ears and brain will then hear so clearly,that they won't focus on the sounds inside your head. The second is to give yourself a break from all types of amplified sound. This includes the hi fi,the television,radios and headphones. Some televisions will actually agrivate your ears. If you get a new one and the sound of it is annoying or fatiguing,then you need to swap it for a different one. Digital sound is at the heart of all our hearing problems. If any amplifying device has a poor inbuilt digital to analogue converter or poor speakers,then it can cause your ears to go into distress. look hard at all your equipment.

    I’m going to try this, but I’m confused… does “I don’t hear my tinnitus” mean he actually can’t hear it anymore, or is it metaphorical or like figurative like it’s still glaring and loud he just chooses not to pay attention?

    • @Andrew-pp2ql
      @Andrew-pp2ql หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you no longer hear your tinnitus…then it has resolved and gone into remission. There is no such thing as I have tinnitus but I no longer hear it! It is true that overtime the brain does habituate to the sound and when engaged you may not notice the tinnitus…or when it is heard you may not give it much attention…like sleeping at night.

    @"I who love music": I have T for 2 years and sometimes I feel desperate. I am going to try this, it reminds me of some CBT-based techniques, but most of it, it sounds pretty simple and feasible. Hope it works, at least relieving the distress. Besides, what if T is there as long as you don't care, right?

      I have extended high frequency hearing loss in both ears right ear worse, over 10,000 and it makes my tinnitus louder. I went to tinnitus clinic and they test up to 20,000 and the ENT only test up to 8,000.
