I've had this ever since I was born. I thought the ringing was normal until I spoke about it. Makes me wonder how many other things I think are normal but actually aren't... I didn't realize tinnitus had different pitches or sounds though. Mine is a very high pitch ringing. I've lived with it so long (I'm 17) that it's become actually soothing to me. Sometimes while I'm in public places or just in a silent room I completely tune out everything but the ringing as it slowly completely consumes my hearing.

      @davidbenitez5949 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Same here, at least on the soothing part. Once during a job interview the room where we were waiting was complete silence. I'm pretty sure everyone was nervous as well as me. So I just switch to listen to my tinnitus and problem solved. That actually helped me relax. But some other times it could be annoying, like if I get drunk (I'm in my 30's). The moment I get drunk it's like turning the volume of the tinnitus to level max. Which is why I don't drunk much anymore.

I've had it relatively low for 7 years now, although it sometimes increases in volume - and I'm used to it :) It gets better, for anyone listening for hope out there. After some time you learn to cope. Don't read or watch horrific stories about tinnitus. It will make it worse. Take care and remember that at some point, your brain won't see it as a threat anymore and you will no longer panic when noticing it.

    Hi,
I’m hoping my story and current project may help some of you coming to terms with or living with long term tinnitus.
I’m a drummer and music producer for over 30 years. In the early days I never protected my ears good enough and as a result developed Tinnitus in both ears, but more problematic in the left.
It really surfaced badly about 5 years ago, when I had a cold and the ringing in my ears seemed like it would never go away. It was scary. And it seemed the more I focused on it, the louder it got and the more distressed I got. This became a vicious cycle for nearly 12 months. Thankfully it eased of a bit, but last thing at night and first thing in the morning is when it is most noticeable.
Falling asleep can be hard, so for ages I watched TV or a movie/podcast to distract me, but I found that just kept my brain active and I would stay awake too long!
With more research I came across some TH-cam videos with things like the sound of waves, or rain etc. After adjusting my routine to not switch on the T.V, and just listen to these sounds, I found that not only did it help with my Tinnitus, but it also was very medative and relaxing.
So, being a producer, I soon became disappointed with the lack of high quality recordings out there, and have recently started to make my own recordings with high grade studio equipment. I have started to become quit obsessed and this week decided to upload my work for others to benefit from.
There is something really therapeutic about going out into nature and just listening to the sounds.
Through doing this, I have found my Tinnitus to be hugely reduced, sometimes tottaly unnoticeable. unless I think about it of course ( that is the key!). The more I relax, switch off, listen to these sounds and drift away, the less I notice that constant ringing in my ears.
So I encourage you all to try this. Well at least check out these types of Videos if you haven’t before. There are lots of them out there. It takes a while to adjust and learn to switch off, but I highly recommend it.
If you would like to check out my work so far here’s the link to my channel-
    th-cam.com/channels/hKg5SVm4zy65Gvlj0ncecw.html
Any feedback too if its helps you or not would be great, and any requests I’d be more than happy to get for you.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my post and good luck!

One thing that can help with tinnitus, is the amount of sleep. An excessive amount of sleep could increase the noise, as well as sleep deprivation. Try to find your best amount of sleep, around 7 hours typically works.

I've had tinnitus 54 years, the last 10 years - extreme. It's like any handicap that you live with. About 30% of the woken day it's as loud as a train. I try reading lips. I have several sounds but there not always present and sometimes I have a new sound for a short while. A loud hand dryer is soothing but loud people at a diner is distressing. When I had an MRI my ear started making MRI sounds - I thought noooooooo but it lasted hours intermittently. That event had me think more of the cause. It sometimes is loud at night and takes hours to get sleeping. But dreaming I don't notice it at all. The other night I had one of the most pleasant dreams of my life and when it started to fade the tinnitus faded in but somehow I but the brakes on and the DREAM CAME BACK and I was back in the dream without tinnitus. 54 years ago I blew the ear listening to Highway 61 Revisted - the tinnitus was loud for a brief time and then faint until loud 44 years later

  • @Neuralatrophy

I thought it was my crappy speakers but my tinnitus was masking the sounds of the 2nd and 3rd. I picked it up on the second play through.
My name is Paul, and my tinnitus is like the 2nd and sometimes 3rd, more in the right ear. I've had it for 30 odd years now. My first memories of these subjective sounds was as a whoosh whoosh back when I was about 5 and its been getting progressively worse as I get older.
loud music after a short duration causes me pain. I can never enjoy a loud event unless I have some good ear plugs.
This is our silence..... madness for anyone else.

I've had tinnitus since I was a kid after a large speaker blew out when I was standing right next to it. Mine is a lot higher pitched than these and quite loud and has made me partially deaf. I've learned to cope with it but some days are worse than others, generally i've got to keep noise around me at all times (usually in the form of music or a fan blowing in my face + netflix for when i'm going to sleep.) or else it gets worse if I let it go for too long. Silence is a thing of the past and I've accepted it and learned to live with it. Take care of your ears people, wear ear plugs at concerts, listen to things at a reasonable level, and take care of your ears.

Every day for as long as I can remember I have somewhere between 2 & 4 as a low, constant tinnitus. Kinda used to that at this point unless something begins my attention to it.
But every now and then, I'll get #1 as an all consuming sound in both ears that drowns everything out. Usually only lasts a minute or two at least... But so painful.
When people tell you not to listen to music loud... Believe them.

First of all, thank you for this channel and the opportunity to share our experiences living with tinnitus. Recently, I've been experimenting with meditation and marijuana and I've been able to change the frequency of my tinnitus on purpose to the point where I almost don't hear it anymore. I'm getting better at it with each session, but it's difficult to explain to others how I do it... but the fact that I can lower the intensity of the ringing gives me hope. I will keep practicing and will share if I can get rid of it. But I do find relief already! Anyone else trying alternative therapies to cure or alleviate their tinnitus?

Firstly , I apologize if my words hurt somebody before saying them.
Tinnitus is not a disease at all. Its rare and divine gift from God .
All these sounds you listen they are for real and in my religion we meditate for hours to become thoughtless so that we can concentrate to those divine sounds and they change as you start listening to them.

I have a constant high pitched sound as well, and sometimes it changes up and down for a few seconds- a bit like an old fashioned radio trying to find the right frequency. It really hurts when that happens! Also, i have to put my fingers in my ears immediately when a fire engine/ police car goes past with sirens blazing when i am walking down the street, or if a car/ bus etc brakes and has a high pitched sound or if someone goes past me in a supermarket with a wonky trolley. It's excruciating!!! the other thing is- when it's completely silent at night, i am left with this high pitched frequency, plus what sounds like music from the distance at a festival/ radio in the background/ someone next door playing an instrument... anyone else get that? I really miss the sound of pure silence.

I have snapping & crackling in addition to the high-pitched ring, called "typewriter tinnitus". It's like someone typing at 30 words per minute, and then it speeds up when hearing other high pitched sounds like water running, opening a crinkly bag of chips, tires on a wet road, etc. My audiologist has never had a patient with this before. So it must be rare.

The volume was up a little too high, and anyone who's seen the movie will know that there is an incredibly loud noise near the start. My right ear has been constantly ringing ever since, at the same pitch as Jeff in this video.

#4 sounds like mine, but mine is a lot louder than that. I just had a recent, severe, spike in volume just two weeks ago. It tripled in volume while I was at work, and didn't fade at all until over a half hour later, at which point it settled in to a volume level about double what it had been for the last 30 years. It's remained that that level ever since.

FOR EVERYONE WHO IS JUST FEELING THIS, ASAP GO TO AN URGENT CARE AND TELL THEM YOU THINK ITS AN INFECTION SO YOU CAN GET ANTI BIOTICS ASAP. Thats one way that can save you. AND MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW UP 2-5 DAYS AFTER. The symptoms they might look for is hearing loss, any cough in the last month, pain, and not all at the same time.

mine is a combination of the first and the last one.

my tinnitus reacts to noise so even shopping can be a crime for me.

It was weird when the sound of tinnitus from Jeff was played, it was like the video went silent during his sound. It was like the sound from my iPad was suddenly turned off or muted. I immediately called my wife to listen and she heard the high pitched section that Jeff heard. Jeff's Tinnitus sound is also mine.

When I first heard my tinnitus I thought it was a temporary. Now, after almost 15 years I still hear it. Sometimes I get really weird thoughts about it. I think tinnitus is radio frequency because it sounds the same. And we can hear it, because we have some kind of super hearing. I'm just over the ledge with my tinnitus. I just wish I could live the life of others without tinnitus.

Nukilsial thing is that everyone has this. Its not supposed to be some sort if threat. Its a little something called frequency. Its all around us. Its just people that are really anxious and stressed out that somehow start to realize this. Work on your anxiety and stress. Go out for a walk. Exercise. Focus on a goal. Take care ❤

Mine is kind of like first guy, Jeff and Rochelle overlapping with different levels in each ear. Sometimes it changes a bit, sometimes I get more of a start stop chime sound in one ear and if I hold my nose and push air in my ears, it levels out to a more constant noise for a while. I've had these sounds since I can remember, no obvious cause but had some ear infections as a kid.

glad to see there are so many here who have this issue other than myself. I've never been diagnosed but I've had what the 3rd girl sounds like for many years and it's gotten worse recently, more prominent in my left ear, right ear is a bit quieter. I only hear it mainly in a quiet room, if the tv is playing I only notice it if I think about it but once the room gets quiet it's there. Annoying.

I sleep with my air conditioning on it doesn't mask the sound but gives me another background noise that distract myself from the sound. my Tinnitus is maddening. I here multiple tones some very low, some piercingly high like in the video.. constantly going all at once. It even warbles together. Now, ever since I moved into my new house, I hear a very low rumble like a generator or motor running, mixed in with sound of 10-15 second grade children blowing all different, continuous notes on a musical recorder. Ugh.. I've tried smashing my head in the wall to make it stop, but that hurts and it doesn't work. :( I pray for silence...just give me silence..

Mine comes in and out, but within the last year its been bugging me more. I hear a few different pitches from time to time, catching me off gaurd when it changes. Most of the time it does noit bother me, but it will come up in complete silence, when im under stress, or when ive worked too hard. There is a constant whistle in my ears, it feels as though it bounces around in my head and behind my eyes, sometimes ill have what i refer to as a tinnitus attack where its the only thing i can hear or focus on, the backround whistle become very large and very scary. It puts me out of commission for about 30 seconds max. Those dont happen very often and luckly im surrounded by people who will support me through it. What i do to reset my ears is listen to a low droning sound. It feels like it cancels it out and i can go on with my day. Just recently, i learned that this ails others and is an actual problem. It makes me comfortable that there are others that understand my pain

My friends/family know I hear phone conversations better in my car on Bluetooth. I leave tv on basically 24/7. Or to sleep I often play albums of moving water on my cellphone. TH-cam raining videos are calming white noise for sleeping - some are black screened.
What’s sad is hearing loss. No cure. Unknown causes. Bunch of fake cures and treatments here TH-cam. At least I’m not alone.
