    Update: now my T has reduced even more! I have been taking cold showers and fasted, cut caffeine and sugar and seing big results! 🌹 It can be done 💗

      Great job! Im up at 1am, re watching his videos bc I’m having a bad spike...thus ensued the anxiety, panic and just feeling very scared. I got out of bed to lay flat and do deep breathing and stretching. Waiting for this spike to go down. Anyways, thanks for posting your positive story.

      Hi Julian I just recently started hearing tinnitus and now it's the anxiety that is keeping me awake and making sleep in general a stressful experience. I'm wondering if taking the antidepressants my doctor prescribed is a good idea or if I should just try a more natural approach? Please thanks

    For almost six years now I've had tinnitus. I managed to habituate and get it under control to the point I no longer even noticed it, but yesterday a speeding car drove directly passed me making a loud noise and bringing my tinnitus right back to how loud it was six years ago when it started. I never expected it to knock me back so hard, I'm back here on Julian's videos to get myself back into healing again. It's incredibly depressing, but I know I have to get back on track and back to where I was. Wish me luck, and good luck to all of you who are on your road to healing.

      ​@@CollinKillian Thank you Collin. It's been a difficult few weeks. It seems like a lot contributed to my tinnitus this time. It started with a middle ear infection and was exacerbated by physical issues with my neck. I have managed to bring the tinnitus down to a somewhat manageable level again, though I still have a little bit of a bothersome level of hyperacusis. Luckily I found a channel that's up there with Julian for treating tinnitus that I shall link below. Liam Stops Tinnitus.

      Applying the body based practices I had learned from Julian with other advice from this guy's channel seems to be working. I've changed my diet and due to my eustachian tubes being out of whack from the middle ear infection I am trying anti mould treatment just in case mould contributed. One thing Liam's channel has taught me is that there are a whole myriad of different causes of tinnitus. I'm going to try this remedy he recommends from Dr. Jill Crista for eradicating mould that may be infesting the eustachian tube.

      Fingers crossed this all works. If anything getting the dreaded T back has taught me a hell of a lot more about it through Liam's channel.

Gun shots ruined my hearing, and even if I habituate I’ll have to hide from loud noise for the rest of my life… I messed up my life man I’m only 24 I am so depressed. Don’t want this anymore 😔 I cry a lot and just want to give up on everything sometimes

    Tinnitus may absolutely go away! When I started believeing it actually can - my nervous system started to calm down, my anxiety is almost vanished and my T is very low. I only hear it when it is very quiet, and I actually expect it to totally go away.
    I also realized that all the calminh techniques are very good - as long as you don't view them as techniques, you need to not put words to it but rather allow yourself to look for a calmer feeling. This calmer feeling is what tells you your nervous system is regulating itself. And after a while you can accomplish this feeling without any techniques at all! Just by knowing this calmer place is within you, you can go there more easily and more often, because you have felt it.
    My 10 months nightmare of anxiety, panic, insomnia, depression, suicidal thoughts are almost vanished. And the T is much better too 🥰

      @@Just4izzybell a lot better. Sound still there but not as bad as I’m not so freaked out. It takes time to get to a place of acceptance then healing.

      @@adaumus yeah my tinnitus is linked to the neurological pain and buzzing i feel throughout my whole body, i am using this method to manage a whole body pain condition. I would say that severe tinnitus makes about 10% of my total discomfort. Enter through the strait gate and it will lead you to the underbelly of the whale, where you will be confronted with the dragon.

    Thank you for this video...It is all so true. Listen carefully to everything he says! I have had Tinnitus for 5 years. I believe the stress in my life started it. I have gotten rid of people and situations that it started from. You are so right about the power of massage! Do massage as much as possible and the feet are an important area not to ignore. Other tips...No nicotine, no alcohol, no sugar! breath correctly and walk everyday as a discipline. Good Luck and God Bless you Julian!

      I found out from the doctor that I have a semicircular dehiscence. :( :(

      @@nottingham1 it's a rare hole that's in the inner ear in the semicircular canal. It's open to the inside of your head. Look into it. I'm so bummed.

      @@nottingham1 I just don't know what I can do to close the hole that has been formed. The doctors say that there is no way to do this without surgery. I really wish there was some type of vitamin or something that I could take that would help bone regrow. This type of sound is really making me crazy and hearing every sound that goes on inside of my body is just debilitating. I do believe if it was just tinnitus without the dehiscence that your techniques that you show here would help greatly but unfortunately since the hole exist I am unable to lessen the sound at all.

      @@nottingham1 yes I have tried many things in his videos, while they do give me comfort they do not get rid of the ringing only because it is not just tinnitus it is semicircular dehiscence. :(

    I find Julian to be very helpful. I've had pulsatile tinnitus on and off for about 1 year. The first key is dry fasting for me. I do 24 to 34 hours on occassion. Also try the cold bath/showers as well. Never give up and you will win.

      Hello. Could you give me more info on the dry fasting please? Listening to Julian there he mentions to ease yourself into fasting....how does one "ease" themselves into fasting? Does it mean in the beginning to reduce the amount of meals you have a day and when your more comfortable with it, go the day without anything? Thanks Michelle

      @@michellehopkins9954 hi Michelle anything new take a slow approach. Maybe start with intermitant fasting and work your way up to a dry fast 24 hours then next time round do a 48hour. Eat well before fasting. When coming off a fast simple plain foods is best ease back into eating.

    Thank you Julian Cowan Hill. Probably one of the best Tinnitus videos out there! Everyone having tinnitus should watch this first, before going on a healing journey. the only thing i could add to this video is the importance of sleep: sleep also has quite of an impact on tinnitus. i guess because of the same reason: stress. bad sleep causes a lot of stress in the body and also adrenalin. everyone having difficulties sleeping, should try to improve. that could be herbs or better sleeping habits. what helped me the most are things like journaling and positive mindset exercises right before going to bed. all the best to you all!

      I agree. He is really helpful, and he points out that so many of us sufferers are 'head' people, energy going upward upward, stress and over thinking. That would be me. Ha ha! Regarding falling asleep, what helps me is to watch a movie in bed, with the sound turned down low, so that as I fall asleep I can still hear what's going on, but it's not too loud to interfere with relaxing.

      I laughed when I saw you going for the yoga mat. I went last week and she had pan flutes on for an hour the music and my tinnitus got so bad from those high pitched flutes I'm thinking of not going again. It was like a knife in my ear tomorrow is Yoga again and I'm still in the spike from last week's flutes

    Thank you so much for this. I followed a link from a tinnitus Facebook group that I was so happy to have found, but now I realize just how much negativity was on the page. I spent hours on the page, reading, answering questions...it made me feel little better to not be alone, but I've been consumed with thoughts of how this was forever, there's no cure, there's a million different causes and I'm never going to be free of it...but then I found this. Oh, thank you Julian Cowan Hill. Just a half hour with you and I feel like there's hope. I'm crying with relief because I've been so scared...on the edge of a panic attack for days. I'm bipolar with anxiety disorder, so the sudden spike in the tinnitus I've had for decades has just frightened me so much. I can't stop crying, but I feel so hopeful now.
    I used to love Tai Chi, but stopped doing it - I don't know why - but now I think I'm going to find a class. I'm also coming back, and I'm getting your book, and I'm going to get better.
    I wish I could cry on your shoulder a bit. I can't stop crying, but I can feel the stress relief, too. Thank you so much.

    To all the sufferers....
    I have had tinnitus for 6 months and I have been to a dark place but u know what u will hear silence again I can hear silence in the quietest of the rooms now...the thing u should know it's not a cure it won't happen quickly stop acting like that u will do that and tinnitus will go away....it's a gradual process when you are in a good place with ur Tinnitus start hearing it I mean don't use masking devices or noise it will be difficult at first but slowly u will get accustomed then go back to your normal life as much as possible u will start noticing that the sound will become less of a issue...and slowly u will hear silence...IT'S ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE TO FULLY RECOVER

    I had a tinnitus spike in 2016 an just 1 therapy session ( online) an reading your book really helped me out that time. Two weeks ago (June 2020) I had a new tinnitus spike after a motorbike tour. Now it is getting better by rewinding all that knowledge I aquired about dealing with tinnitus. The point was, that at the end if this video, you speak about the situation of getting a new spike. For me, it was very important to recall that it is possible to recover by my own . Keep on encouraging people !

    Thank you! On 12/23/2021 I woke up with sudden hearing loss + tinnitus. Steroid treatment has had no effect. I have been a wreck (uncharacteristic for me): depressed, jittery, low energy, craving a massage (also uncharacteristic). Watching this video today (and the one in which you explain all the systems involved in hearing) has been an eye opener. Totally explains my somatic and emotional chaos. Deep breathing and calming down has already made the tinnitus less annoying, and I feel much more hopeful.

      @@amylee9 I took a 10 day course of oral steroids, then had three steroid shots through that ear drum, 1/week, had 3 acupuncture treatments, took sublingual B12 daily, reduced sodium, caffeine, and alcohol, and meditated a lot. I have no idea which helped and which didn’t, unfortunately.

    2 years on from hearing my tinnitus for the first time, immediately panicking and rushing to the internet for answers, and low and behold I’m absolutely fine. Still hear it sometimes but honestly don’t really care anymore. My advice to anyone reading this would be break this cycle by staying away from online content about tinnitus (except for the positive stuff from people like Julian) as it is just doing the opposite effect of what you want. The more attention you give it the worse it will seem. Just keep living your life same as before it will just fade out into the background.

      So true, when I have anxiety my tinnitus sounds so loud. When I breathe it lessens. When I read negative I go into panic mode.

      @@Itsjennaaaay Yep, I find mine is now only noticeable in bursts, I’ll go for ages without hearing/noticing it then I’ll have a period where it becomes a distraction and sometimes anxiety provoking, but it’s all good

      @@margueritebeson8498 you will go through a grieving process. But eventually you will fully habituate to it and not even notice it’s there. If you have family or friends you can talk to then that will help. I have had it now for 2 and a half years and the best advice I can give is just keep moving forward and growing in your life. You will find that eventually it will fade into the background. I know how hard it is as I remember being in your position and feeling utterly overwhelmed and depressed and now I could care less about it.

      Hi julian I had it for 15 yrs a.nd it's spiked it's sensitive too as I got bad anxiety stress I've taken to walking and calm mindfulness I've done before at least 3 times but definitely need positive thoughts

When I saw GP in first place they said to me you live with this for life but you have proved they are wrong , tinnitus can be cured.

    Hi Julian, I've been having deafening tinnitus, until hours ago it was excruciatingly loud. Tried my best to calm myself after listening to what you say, listening to my body, no pun intended. My job makes my anxiety go in overclock, and I have minor tremors too. Anyway thank you so much, will look into more of your videos, Thank you so very very much!

      I was playing volleyball today and I am a really competieve person so it got semi loud. I remember getting it from a ear infection in italian class and the sound was so loud. I thought I had a mingrain or I was going crazy but no it was the tinnitus. My ears feel so stiff. I went to the doctor and get some drops that did help the tinnitus a lot. That week I keot thinking about it. However it has gotten a lot better ever since tho I do feel it worsens when you get anixtey the calms down again.

    perfecto..37 years of tinnitus he's the most spot on you'll listen to, i used to run on stress, drink, drugs, anything that helped a 24/7 career driven lifestyle ...had CBT for 9 months & saw Simon Baker too for some serious chilling out sill am at the moment & can say wow i've changed, not just tinnitus but life is just way better... I think a lot of what Julian says could be applied to life not just tinnitus. So if your a stressful one, don't think you can meditate or be mindful i'd argue you can & get better. I had this impact my life so many times, years of tears as a kid.. I listen to these videos just as a reminder of whats real whilst chilling out..My tinnitus hasn't gone although i forget about it most of the time, life runs fast in front of me but not me...slow down be mindful it's fantastic.

    I have 8/10 tinnitus and acute severe anxiety. When i got it one 4am morning i had a panic attack.
    First i want u to know suffer that u will be ok!
    U will have to focus.
    The first big struggle is to control the anxiety.
    U are in an injured state. Ur inner ear mechanisms have been injured. And ur brain is compensating.
    This is a stress response. Hang in there. It will get better. It will get better. Like i did.
    Brace urself for a few days. Like any injury the pain will go down. Ur body will try to clean itself. Drink lots of water
    If there is anxiety, there is a way. The last resort tho is an anti anxiety pill like alprozalam. Dont use it yet. Because it will get better only for the last result.
    Sleeping will be difficult for a while. U have to focus on the techniques mentioned to relax. It will get better.
    Pray. Massage the head. Drink water
    No coffee or stimulants. Eat bananas.
    It will get better. Trust me. The brain has ways of coping. Be stronger than u never thought of u cud be.
    Listen to positive people.
    Avoid avoid avoid negative talk.
    Because it will get better.
    Clean ur body avoid ototoxic drugs and processed foods, chrmicals like aspartame etc.
    Because it will get better .
    Have someone to help u.
    Because it will get better
    Rest. Focus. Breathe. It will get better believe me. U will think dark thoughts but its ok because it will get better!

    Liam Stops Tinnitus on TH-cam uses diet and other modems which reduce inflammation so the body can heal. Liam says take things slowly and don’t stress trying to do everything at once. Just changing one thing can make a big difference.

      Thanks for this. I recommend caution with Liam. Some of the information is helpful but you do not have to do what Liam says to get better. He is offering advice and it is important for you to weigh this up and make sure it feels safe and right for you. You do not need to lose lots of weight or follow a strict diet to the T to get better. Please be careful of "if you don't do this you won't get better" as this can be bullying and can cause vulnerable people to feel cornered and do things to themselves that cause stress. Feeling safe means you have choice and can decide what is best for you. A healthy diet helps. Having cold showers can be useful. Easing into fasting can be helpful for some people but not everybody.

    Your videos have been a great help to me, my doctor few weeks ago I need to learn to cope and since that night the sound of it went louder. Since I’ve been watching your videos I am feeling lot better. Started going to gym, trying to start tie chi and yoga too. I believe in you and what you say . I don’t know what I would have done (you saved me all sort of stupid thought were flying in my head) thank you for sharing your knowledge in kind and companionate way. Please keep it up.

    Very good stuff Julian. I had a moderate heart attack several months ago. Then came the panic attacks and recently the tinnitus. I am really diving deep to stay calm. I think some of my issue is somatic tinnitus from neck degeneration. Thanks for the hopeful journey, I need it.

    My Tinnitus started on Nov 17th of last month after stressing over a complicated surgery on my collar bone neck area. The day after surgery I woke up with my right ear ringing and my left buzzing. Thank God I found your videos on day 3. I have been following your advice (walking, eating healthy, mediation, no more sugar) and my Tinnitus went from a 8 to a 3 within two weeks. I keep planning to keep up this new healthy lifestyle, and hopefully I can get it to the point were I no longer hear it at all

      ​@@EdilsonTrades My T is still there but now it's a low crackling pop in both ears, and only when I get stressed out I notice the loud ringing comes back. Also garlic!! I can't tell you why this works for me it could be all mental but it does.
      Sleeping isn't a problem anymore because right off the bat I decide to listen to my T instead of masking the sound with white noise or other T treatments at night. I actually started to enjoy the humming in my ears at night. It's telling me I'm alive and I think maybe were just special and we can hear something others can't. I know it's tough to stop falling into the negative loop hole, but if all you do is read the negative stories you'll never get better yourself. I hope this helps someone that struggled in the beginning like I did. If you stay positive it can get better. Just hang in there

    This gives me a lot of hope, hopefully I can change my T. It started 3 weeks ago when I came back from holiday, I went by plane and suddenly poof there was some annoying noise in my ear. I checked online and it scared me really hard.
    People like you give me a lot of hope, hopefully I can reduce it and even remove it from my toughts. At this moment it is 24/7 on my mind and that makes it worse.

    Julian, you are absolutely right. Back in Feb I woke up with tinnitus. It was whizzing up and down, and my right ear lost most of its high frequency hearing. I am not afraid to say it, but for a few months, I was stealing from my job. I worked in a job where I was around jewelry all day, and at the time, I was having financial problems (still do), and I was looking for a way to get out of debt. So, I was already under a lot of stress. Little did I know that by stealing, I was doing more harm than good because I was going against my own conscious. I knew that I was doing wrong. "This is not the way I was raised," I said to myself. I am not a practicing Christian; but I believe in God, and Jesus as my saviour, and what the bible teaches us. I grew up believing. So, the whole time I was stealing, I felt I was betraying God. But, I allowed myself to ignore it. I was determined to get out of debt. It was this mental anguish inside that I think led to my tinnitus and hearing loss. I began to pray to God and admit I was wrong for what I did and kept asking for forgiveness (and still do). There have been times that my tinnitus has been hardly noticeable. I recall that I was more relaxed during those times. Humbly praying to God and speaking to God every day, and studying the bible again seemed to put me at ease, and I felt love inside. During those times, my tinnitus was less of a nuisance. I even felt like my hearing had gotten a little better. Eventually I lost my job, because they found out what I was doing. Luckily, they didn't press charges or take me to court. Instead, they listened to me admit why I was doing it, and I let go of a lot of emotion. They arranged for me to pay restitution; however, I obviously could no longer work for them. That's when my tinnitus ramped up again, and since August, when I was let go, it has been full on, non-stop, and keeping me up at night. And it was because I knew I was in even worse financial peril than before. So, yes, the fight or flight mechanism kicked in even more. On one hand, however, I was glad I was sacked, because I no longer putting myself in a situation where it was easy to steal. I have since been self-employed. I could work somewhere else, as they have not made it public record that I was stealing from them. However, I like being self-employed, and depending on myself. I now buy and sell stuff online, and am good at it. However, I no longer currently have health insurance, and because I am a hypochondriac in the every sense of the word, I have this innate fear that something will happen to me, and I will end up with millions of dollars of medical expenses. That, and I always worry about any little pain, fearing the worse. The "Oh, my God, I have have cancer!" mentality. I am always nervous. I shake a lot. As far as I know, I don't have PD. However, my head will shake, or my hands will shake when I feel any kind of nervousness. I think, as you said, the tinnitus is a barometer of your central nervous system. It is a signal inside your brain that is linked to the auditory nerves, and every other nerve in my body (hence the trembling and panic attacks that I get sometimes). Sleepless nights only compound the problem, and makes the tinnitus ramp up when I was in bed at night. I have to find some relaxation techniques that can work for me. I tried meditation; but I can't sit still long enough for it to work. I am full of nervousness. I am thinking my next step should perhaps be yoga. Hot, long baths definitely lessen my tinnitus. It calms me, and lower my high blood pressure. I have high blood pressure that requires me to take medication.

    Most honest video I've found, I relate to many of things he says. But keep in mind that many mental issues, cause stress, which do affect physical parts of the body. So it's not said the mental issues like catastrophic thinking directly cause tinnitus, but muscle tension and nervous system do as a consequence. It can still be somatic, for example pressing your jaw will increase it.

    For information. I've had tinnitus for about 2.5 years now but the cause I believe was an occasion when I was very close to an explosion in 1989. I had loud ringing in my brain for about 3 days at that time and it then faded and caused no more problems. 2.5 years ago a bus blew its horn while I was driving past it with my window open and 2 days later the original noise from 1989 returned. The noise is a constant tone at about 11KHz and it is ever present. Day times aren't too bad but nights are always a battle. I've tried various meds but I'm now hoping that trying to ignore it and the passage of time will help me to adapt.

    I just wanted to thank you for your help and also for allowing us to comment and respond to you. My situation is that my tinnitus is backing off after a year of dealing with it , but I’m anxious to see it finally be silenced so looking for support to extinguish it . Also I’ve noticed one site where you could not leave a comment and thought if I’m going to listen to someone for 10 minutes or so you can at least let us speak to you. Anyway I keep fighting the good fight to relax and switch my focus to the positive.

    Many years ago I was in a very dark place with unbearable tinnitus. This video may very well have saved my life!
    Nowadays I don’t even notice the tinnitus even if I’m in a silent room! I can’t ever thank you enough for everything you did for me Julian!

      12 years ago after a car accident I woke up with this dreadful ringing in my ear. It literally made me so depressed and consumed my life. With the help of hypnosis and sound therapy I managed to forget I had tinnitus. It took me about 6 months but I got through it. I literally forgot I had tinnitus until I started to experience some hearing loss a few months ago coupled with pulsatile tinnitus. My brain suddenly became aware of my heartbeat with a whoosing sound in ear. I struggled to sleep for a few nights but then put the things I had learned previously into practice. Sound therapy and meditation. I did see an ENT consultant as I know pulsatile tinnitus with hearing loss has to be checked out. I am having an MRI this week to see what might be happening. I agree about the support groups they can be frightening.

    I found that chanting OM helps quite a bit. It causes a vibrations in my brain it quiets tinnitus quite a bit.

      I did it and it seeemed to open my ear. How many oms and how many times a week?

      I would do it for half an hour every day. Sometimes i chant it when i am just doing chores in the house or painting. It seems to help when i am having a spike.

    God Bless you for your calming and positive effect /info. One thing you said is impossible for me to do - the humming and singing. My own voice bothers me in spikes, like fingernails on a blackboard. Many say they don't hear as well with tinnitis... Mine is the opposite - even noise such as crunchy plastic bags, cutlery rubbing, pressure cooker whistle, signals in the car, etc. etc. drive me crazy/hurt my hearing. worsen my tinnitis :-(
    After dental surgery 10 years ago my face immediately swoll up, due to infection, like elephant man as if my head would explode if there wasn't my skull bones . Dentist put me on stronger and stronger antiobiotics and after 4 months luckily got the better of the infection but it left me with ACUTE tinnitis. It's been living hell since. I will continue to try to follow the advice in the video - to help cohabit with tinnitis.

    I have tinnitus since 5 years and now I am 23. I'm also suffering from social anxiety and depression and some sort of migrain symptoms. When ever I study, I feel the blood flowing in my head and the high pitch sound in my ears gets worse. 🙁

    A real lesson. Interesting to know, above all, how having baths and how practising Fasting. Doctors don't know any of these methods. They never talk about "Nervous System" which is the trigger. Thry just talk about ears and cells. One more time: thank you, Julian.

    I have been suffering T for 3 years. The worst thing is, that if you get T for first time, and learn about it, then there is not much useful information and you are pretty much alone with your problem. Its interesting to see, that I have reached to the same knowlege on my own, as it is in this video. Its not one pill what makes T better, its the change of lifestyle and diet. My T has been reduced from horrible to very mild , thanks to changes I have made. If I will get T free eventually, then I will document my journey into video, so others can learn from that too.

      @@Eyestoobig899 It is very mild now. The good thing that tinnitus is very good indicator for me, do I live healthy or not. For example I get T when the fruits have poison in them.
