    This one will be a bit controversial, but it shouldn't be! building on my previous video about a contactless wash; I wanted to see if there was a way of quickly washing the whole car to a passable standard, safely. So I'm trying the Ava Flow Mop Head - let me know down in the comments what you think of it!

      I think a lot more people would be less concerned if you could have shampoo in the water feed to the head, myself included....but I'm also convinced after doing the door sills and the pad coming away cleaner than any wash mitt ever has.

    • @roscopervis
      @roscopervis 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SuperchargedLlama mix two concepts - shampoo in the bucket to load up the noodles, and you can rinse using the water feed and the grit guard. The debate from a couple of weeks ago stating that the shampoo will encapsulate the dirt will help here, especially if a good pre-wash has been done. For extra safety, using a pressure sprayer of ONR on the panel before the shampoo foam may help lubricity but also add extra unnecessary steps this is trying to avoid.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@roscopervis shampoo in the bucket could be a great show actually, I'll have a play with that! I think you're right on the ONR thing, it would work I reckon, but by that time you might as well have done a normal wash.

      @@SuperchargedLlama yeah, it’s adding steps. Maybe ONR in the bucket instead of shampoo? I’m just thinking of ways to boost lubricity and optimise the process. As I don’t have the luxury of this kit, see what works and call it the Llama method!

    I’ve had one from the very beginning and find them brilliant on a panoramic roof (as well as ordinary roofs!) and across the windscreen; especially with the extendable lance on the AVA
    I don’t like them for washing the rest of the bodywork however.

    Think it would still be a safer wash with a multi mitt method. I don't think it would be any slower, plus you could still get into the grills, etc. Would be nice not having to bend down to get the sills though.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I agree with you completely. This works if you need to be quick, and it was a hell of a lot quicker, although partly because I didn't contact wash the wheels, and it seems less physical effort...but I know I personally feel safer with the mitt in my hands.
      I was challenging myself with this one, because it goes against everything I think is right, ya know? And I reckon it's good enough if you're in a rush, but then...so was that contactless wash in the previous video.

  • @Dan_vRS
    @Dan_vRS 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you could run shampoo through the mitt as you wanted to I think it would have some merit, as it would cut out a step and ensure there is lubrication AND rinsing of the mitt happening simultaneously. That’s where it would work.
    As you’re doing it I see no advantage over a normal wash mitt or multi mitt method, and the likelihood of marring from contact damage with the head banging a panel and through over pressuring dirt into the panel too easily is far more increased than normal.
    So using it the way you have it done it’s a no from me.
    They need a snow foam bottle style pickup attached before the head to make it viable to give that clean and flush to make it work

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can't disagree with anything you've said there. Literally all of it is spot on.
      I took want the foam lance that just outlets into the flow, so we can get the shampoo loveliness running through the lance head here, that would be spot on and on my test is genuinely did transform the experience.

    Cracking video, AVA do some pretty useful accessories for there machines. How are you getting on with the water filter, I'm looking at getting one soon myself. What size is it and how many washes do you get from it before the resin requires replacing.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks as always darling. Regarding the DI vessel, I've got the 7litre one and I think I should have gone for the 11L instead as that has a larger volume, therefore the resin lasts longer.
      And the length it lasts is incredibly difficult to answer as I don't have a flow meter on mine, so I can't really tell you how many litres of water I used from each fill. My use is sporadic as well, I'm don't use it every time, and then some times I would fill the tank in my van through it, so it would burn right through the resin far more quickly. And then water hardness is a factor.
      I'd say, very roughly, when I was washing every other week....I could get somewhere about 4 months out of it, and I used it for the whole wash process. But that does have significant variance in it.

    Good evening Adrian. Great video and well documented but, would I do it, er.... no, it just seems to be an accessory too far (i don't have an AvA either 😂) if I did, I'd still not go with it.
    It looks a faff to me, it doesn't look as safe and I did keep getting concerned by the string, could that get caught and scratch my paintwork, it looks like it could.
    My thoughts, if I'm gonna get all that equipment out, I may as well just carry out a usual multiple mitt wash.
    However, as someone said below, great for caravans and motor homes and, vans and high sided vehicles too, in my opinion.
    Cracking content again and thanks, all the best.

    it just looks way more cumbersome than a normal wash mitt and wouldn't be as accurate (think door handles, boot lid) or any faster. Slower because you said about having 2 or 3 heads to swap, as opposed to 2 mitts in a bucket. And its not angled so reaching a high van would still require a step ladder, so again it wouldn't replace a wash mitt. And i just use warm water so i don't get cold hands.
    I could be wrong, but thats a swing and a miss from me.
    Always enjoy your videos and honesty, but this wouldn't work for me.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can see that for sure. In practice I can definitely say that for me, this was far quicker than when I use a mitt...but that's probably for the reasons you mentioned a mitt is better (which it is btw, I don't think this is a replacement for a proper wash, but for a quick one, it does a bit more than the contactless wash in last week's video).
      I wasn't knackered after doing it either, which just occured to me. But ultimately I knew the car was "clean enough", rather than "clean", if you know what I mean? This definitely wasn't up to my usual standards, but it took me half the time a normal wash does (no contact wash on the wheels though, which definitely would make a huge difference).

      It's definitely quicker, but from what other people have commented, I think the common themes that came up were if you had a bad back/limited movement or poor health, this is easier. And if you have a large panel van or motorhome then it's ideal.
      I can say from my personal experience that I definitely used hardly any energy to do this, and it was super quick. From getting the PW out to putting it back away again I was done within an hour, just. My normal mitt based contact wash is easily another half an hour over that (partly because you're more fastidious) and then it I contact wash the wheels.... add another 20mins maybe? I'm slow and methodical, which maybe a problem. It's also why, commercially, I don't do valeting. I only do deep cleans as a minimum, but mostly paint correction and coatings.
