DeTomaso Pantera pre-sale transformation!
#welcomebackdarlings
In this video I perform a minor miracle in cleaning this DeTomaso Pantera's engine bay with Bilt Hamber Surfex HD, Feynlab Pure Rinseless, Garage Therapy Rinseless and ONR. The interior is tackled with Koch Chemie Pol Star and my Nilfisk Buddy II 12 and Koch Chemie Green star, whilst the exterior was given a Rinseless Wash with Garage Therapy Snow V2, Garage Therapy Rinseless and Garage Therapy Sigma V3.

    Thanks for the amazing review. My Nilfisk c120.3 died last week. Had it for over 10 years and I thought my next is gonna be Nilfisk again, however. I don't like the new design of Nilfisk core line. So I was gonna get Karcher obviously. Tried K4, K5 and it felt cheap and even though more powerful on the paper than my nilfisk. My old Nilfisk was far superior IMO. In the end I've decided to go with AVA. The only dilemma right now is whether to go with Easy P57 or Smart P60 🤔. Both are on offer at around £220 now

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Personally I'd get the Easy, because you get the longer hose and the premium foam lance, which are far better. You can also upgrade the hose the steel reinforced one on the Easy at a later date of you chose to, but out of the box it is better equipped. As a tip, use my link in the description and buy through Amazon so you've got their customer service, as opposed to Ava - Ava is fine but it's taking a bit longer to respond and resolve issues at the moment, where as Amazon is near instant; so if you've got any issues soon after purchasing then you'll get them resolved more quickly. I don't think you will have any issues by the way, but it's worth making your life easier and the price is the same.

    A brilliant watch, the result was fantastic! Surfex at 1:1, thats not something I'd thought I'd see, glad I did, a few people have said it can be a harmful product but, I've never see that. I'm just running out of P&S absolute, was going to have a go at Feynlab but, I'm now thinking GT 🤔. Loved the rinseless process you use, i often wash 2 times, mainly due to heat or sunshine, so a similar concept (actually did 2 x RW today, on the white Juke. All the best Adrian 👍

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ah darling, thank you! I think the idea that Surfex can cause issues is true, but it's usually because someone has let it dry out. Be it a really hot panel, hot wheels or engine, or just in direct sunlight and not realised how quick it will dry out, this is why I was wiping the residue off so quickly, and with a Rinseless, because that doesn't dry out so quickly in the sun and is very good as dissolving dirt...and other surfactants too by the looks of it. I'd definitely recommend the GT. I've not used the V3 of Feynlab, but I'd say the GT bests V1 as it cleans as well, but finishes better. I believe this is somewhat mitigated with V3 of Feynlab, but I can say from personal experience.

    Superb (and back breaking) work there. Thank you for all the little explanation details you give. Much appreciated. Now.... GT Rinseless. Definitely want to see a full review of that. Things I look for in an RW are cleaning power, wash media dirt releasing abilities, and how easy dried polymer spots are to remove. ie clean one panel at a time then dry or can I clean most of the car then dry it? This is a great question. I find it feels like a decent shampoo to be honest, 50ml in 15L is what I go for and it comes out well. If I am foaming it on (like I've done here) it's 1% PIR so that it feels longer. Which with the setup used here is 100ml in a 1L foam lance bottle. You don't need as much in the bucket because you don't need it to foam as much. It's plenty slick enough for sure.

    Paste waxes can never, never and never be a real ceramic coating due to the experts. Maybe it contains weak derivates. Unfortunately is the term "ceramic" not protected so all the brands abuse this as a marketing trick. Also Infinity wax I think 🤓. At the moment there is no (ceramic) wax on the world that can beat a (light) ceramic coating (regarding the durability). That being said I don't say wax is dead but both wax or coatings have their own lovely characters. But the main prizes for durability are just for coatings !

      @@SuperchargedLlama It's no blame on you; I've said only that also Infinity wax abuse the term "ceramic" . In 2024 we must speak the truth to the community in the field. People in the field need to be protected from the lack of a moral compass on the part of some manufacturers.

      @@michelevers5916 agreed. Although in this case there definitely is true ceramic in it, I can't remember which one it is though. The paste it is in is the solvent carrier for it I believe. @@SuperchargedLlama sorry Super...Lama no hard feelings but I think there is a miscommunication between us. Maybe its my lack of capability to be clear, but I heard also in your video that you are totally not a waxman. Well I love both waxes as coatings and I'll end with the following: the amount of ceramic is totally not what it is about, and the durability also not (for example Fusso coat wax goes a long way but is also not a true ceramic); my attempt to say is it is not possible to use a true ceramic in a paste wax yar. Derivates such as SiO2, Silicones, Silazanes, Polysiloxanes etc. are not true ceramics in my opinion. Towels used for take off the Infinity wax will not harden out I think, this is also a clue to me. True ceramics can only be held in glass or aluminium (liquid) bottles, so spray ceramics (waterbased) are also snake oil in the sense of true ceramics. Therefore I said above; It is a shame that the term "ceramic" is not protected by the law and manufacturers can shamely abuse it. Keep on going with your good work !

From my previous useage of it, I haven't found that it has caused any issues, but actually really assessing it and documenting it could be really beneficial for a lot of people and a bit of a hack. Let me know how you get on as well, but so far I am seeing consistent performance on both panel areas, which echos what I've seen with the other cars I've taken this process with.

    Great video. I’m a bit confounded by the VB dilution? KCX say 1:30-1:50 for pre cleaning. 2% PiR would be roughly 150-200ml? That closer to 1:5ish. Or have I made a mistake here? New subscriber here.

    • @SuperchargedLlama

      Ahhh yes you see 2% PIR is about 1:50 on the panel, but PIR takes into account the volume of water being injected in the flow by the foam lance, and compensates for that. PIR sounds really complicated but it's actually very easy to work out, let me know if you need any more pointers on it.

Surprisingly, I have found that it doesn’t seem to affect coatings, but it has affected the durability and longer term hydrophobics of some waxes. I don’t know why. I'd like to see what adding surfexhd to a prewash foam would be like. Given I prefer using a ph neutral foam but for the heavy build up of dirt like during winter maybe adding some would be a good solution, no pun intended.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I wouldn't put Surfex in with an active foam, but if it was pH neutral then yes, it makes it more potent. If it's an active, high alkaline foam that you're using already, I'd spray the Surfex on the panel first and then cover it in the foam of choice. This will mean you can properly control the dilutions and not alter the foam characteristics. Surfex is very low foaming in general, it can make many other foams less stable if mixed in (I experimented early on, wasn't worth the hassle).

      The thing that's worth mentioning here with the sander is not to get a hook and loop fastening one, because that chews up the carpet. • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's the question! The NC was sort of out of necessity in a way; I was going to get a VFR800X (I had the VFR800F before this, but sold it during COVID as I wasn't riding it - went from commuting 70miles a day to WFH and I don't have a garage to store it in). Now I've got a job where I need to commute occasionally again, via the M25 that's always solid. So I was thinking VFR800X as I said (bit less wristy than the F) or a Tiger Sport 660, Tracer 7, Tiger 800 XRT etc....and then I got the insurance quotes. Which were astronomical. Couldn't get one of the VFR, the Tiger Sport 660 was £1200 (bearing in mind I still had 3 years of of NCB that was valid as the gap was under 2 years). So I ran through a quote for an NC750X and it was about £300. Which still is crazy as my VFR800F was £400 when I last insured it. So I rode one, thought for the task I need to use it for, it would be fine. And I opted for the DCT as I've got an issue with my left knee at the moment that manual shifting aggravates. I had a DCT Africa Twin in the past and am completely sold on the gearbox. I toyed with another AT actually, but I could only afford the same CFR1000L model I had before, and I found that really top heavy. The revised version CRF1100L from 2018 was so much better in that respect, and then the latest version has apparently improved that further.

      Whilst you see great hydrophobrics from wet coat, it isn't anywhere near what a true ceramic does. I was really surprised how big a difference there was. You'd have to do some prep though, I'm not saying you'd need to clay or machine polish, but you would want to do a fallout remover, waterspot remover and a paint cleanser, before panel prep, to make sure it's as good as surface as it can be for the ceramic to bond to. Is all that necessary? No, it just helps it last a bit longer.
