SEE YOU ALL AT THE VIRTUAL HOUSEWARMING TOMORROW (SATURDAY) MARCH 9TH 5PM ET!! 💘 Let me know if you saw anything you liked at any of these vintage/thrift stores! This was fun :)
I am here to tell you, those prices were CRIMINAL!!! Not normal for thrift stores. Just in case you haven't thrift store shopped... Also, for your bedroom Paris picture, you could put some curtains lights over it. It would be really pretty.
Same x
Def picture above computer x loving the coffee print too.
Oh my gosh. I just love your leather jacket... Can you tell me where it's from? Much love!
Hey Chelsea. I love to see your videos. Kisses from Brazil.❤🎉
Ok, put the coffee mug frame over your stove. And on the left to your stove get a small shelf, made of wicker or some type of wood. And the man one, over where you originally put your washer. The Paris one in your room, but be careful putting it over your bed, secure it, so it doesn’t fall on your head. 👍🏼
I like the coffee one over the stove ...the black and white one on the wall beside your art....love the Paris one in the bedroom but it needs some more art to compliment it ...on the wall beside your bed so you can enjoy it
agree with all this!
When I see the rent y’all pay, it’s outrageous! Good luck to ALL of you 👍
The INSTANT joy I feel when I see an upload from you Chelsea. Like truly a highlight. Can’t wait for the live tomorrow too! 🎉
❤❤❤see you there!
Hi Chelsea, I discovered your channel about a month ago. I am 74, watching in Minnesota, to expand my horizons with TH-cam vibes from a younger generation. Most times I watch on my TV using a Roku device, so I can't type comments, but I'm on my laptop now, and will tune in to your Virtual Housewarming Video tomorrow to interact. Congratulations on the new apartment. So many possibilities! I have to say, how much I really enjoy your sense of adventure as you've explored life in NYC! I like your sense of humor and energy too, as well as the sensible advise and commentary you offer. ----Great channel.....Keep it up!
I'm in South Dakota I'm 66 and watch for the same reason! We agree Chelsea is awesome.😊
That black and white above a bar cart would be very cool!
It’s so nice to see a TH-camr with a budget! The vintage things were lovely but definitely too marked up for the average thrifter. Love the content :)
If she can afford an apartment like that in nyc she can afford “ upscale” thrift…and that wasn’t Shakespeare🙄
Girl, hang the picture whenever it makes you feel the most joy. Don’t wait. Hang it and live with it for awhile. Then when you go out again to look for decor, items will speak to you. You will see colors and objects in other pieces that will remind you what you have already. That’s when your heart chooses. ❤️ Have fun!
ITA! Hang the picture now - don't store it. You can always move it later. I like the Paris picture above your "headboard", until you find the rest of your collage items for the other wall. Or even put it in the living area. WHERE EVER! Just don't stash it away in a closet :(
Over the years I’ve collected a bunch of artwork (benefit of being an art student I got a lot of it discounted or free from fellow friends and classmates) but my recommendation for hanging and arranging is to wait a bit longer before you start putting work up, and collect a few more pieces so that you have more to play with-whether it’ll end up being gallery wall style or just one piece per wall (either style is great and it’s up to you! You can always mix and match). Don’t forget you can always put something in your bathroom, or on top of the kitchen cabinets (if they’re built with space on top instead of being enclosed). For the concrete walls, I would use a TON of command strips on the back of the frame. A lot of the command strips come with a mini level so that’s helpful too!
Happy artwork hunting!!!! 😁
Thank you for this!!!
Believe it or not, Staten Island is the best , real thrifting and fun ferry ride each way :)
The painting of Paris would actually look really *artistic* hung asymmetrically above the couch 😍
👀you're on to something...
I actually Laughed out Loud when You made the face like the Angry Bird!!!
We would like a part 2 please and thank you 😁
I like the Paris painting on the wall in the living room as a part of a collage type look. Add in different sized vintage pictures and maybe some smaller/interesting vintage mirrors. I like the B&W picture above the bar cart area. Look for another B&W one that goes with it to go over the computer.
The vintage shopping videos are fun!!
You make the best Angry Bird face 😂
And I love that coffee painting (print?) It works perfectly with your new wall color.
I love that you got the black and white photo of the guy balancing. I feel it will make you smile every time you look at it. Those are the real unexpected gems :)
Omg, the box of photos in the thrift shop??? Why is that so heartbreaking to me?? I'm just too sentimental I guess... 🫤
I know right?? I wonder how they all ended up there, and where all the people in the photos are now.
@@ChelseaCallahan5:56 -they were all touching, but something about this serviceman got me in the heart 🥹
I loooove thrift shopping videos!❤
I love how the coffee print looks against the kitchen wall color!
Hi, Chelsea! My only feedback is to be careful of the height you hang the artwork. Googling best practices was super helpful for me, because hanging things too high can look a little awkward. 😀 Have fun!
The B/W photo would look great to the left of your computer, above the bar you mentioned getting! Also the coffee print is perrrfect for your kitchen! It matches your walls perfectly.
Loved loved loved this video! Yay to vintage art shopping ✨ As someone that likes to hang anything and everything on my walls, I would say go ahead and put these frames where you like them most, even if it feels incomplete or unbalanced, and then keep searching for other bits that you can add to expand what you already have, until you find the balance ❤️
Love your post. Upbeat and kind. Your personality shines.
What I also really like for a cost-effective way to get something up the wall is posters from museum. Every museum shop carries posters of their most famous art works or current exhibitions. You can then chose to frame it or not.
Black and white photo definitely suits the vibe above a bar cart 👌
All three prints go together...a more sophisticated vibe, and that print of Notre Dame is beautiful
Mother of Junk is an absolute slam dunk. Tip, go on a Wednesday afternoon, that's when they get fresh new items
I love all your content but this is one of my favorites! The only bad part is I never want your videos to end 🤣
This was sooo much fun!!! Definitely need a part 45 of thrift shopping 🛍 🤩 lol.
If you are getting a bar, I like the idea of the guy going above that. You chose some beautiful pieces....I think you need to go back and get that skirt 😉 it was cool!!! Thank you, Chelsea, again for taking us along on another adventure ❤
Most stores called anything "vintage" are usually overpriced for bargain shoppers. You need a Goodwill, Salvation Army, Savers .... real thrift stores. Charity shops are usually your best bet. If you're willing to do the digging you can get great deals.
I like the pieces you got. If I'm looking for art I really love, I go to galleries, "art fairs," or something like that and actually "invest" in pieces I know I'll keep for a long time. The cost is often not too bad if you get in on an artist "early" or buy prints instead of original pieces.
I’ve been obsessed w ur channel. You’re the most realistic nyc TH-camr I’ve seen. I really think you should use the French city painting in the living room and make sorta collage of different painting and/or plants around it. It would really bring a earthy cozy natural vibe to the room.
We vote for (1) coffee poster left of stove exactly where you first placed it, (2) figure skating server over your desk (colors are all very simpatico there), and (3) Paris in your bedroom beside (not over the head of) the bed so you can gaze upon it when you’re in bed. One of us here works in museum education at a prominent museum and thinks your first instincts were spot on. (We both thought that but I defer ever so slightly to my sweetheart’s professional & artistic opinions LOL.) if not too heavy, Command strips are great and allow easy relocation of the object later.
I think you should put a shelf above your bed and put some lovely books and hanging plants on it and have your picture propped up. that way you fill more of the space and you can put a few little postcard sized ones next to it!
i love that in the bedroom!!! yessss!!!! make a gallery wall just fell of things that are not necessarily a framed art piece but you can grow your wall as you find treasures moving forward!!!!
Yes, totally thought the Paris frame would look nice & soft in your bedroom, agree! : )
Love you chelsea, i think the picture would look better on the totally empty part of the wall, love the other finds. Alsooo happy women's dsy to you and to all the women in the community ❤
One of my favorite videos. LOVE the pictures. I'd put guy with tray over bar area. Paris I liked in the bedroom and coffee one over the shelf. So enjoyed😊.
i’m definitely older than you but everytime i watch one of your videos, I feel like you could totally be the bff that I never thought I needed in my life😭😂😂😂Love your sense of humor!!!
Art is the joy of the beholder. Love your choices. One at a time, build the collection.
the fact that my favorite person is doing my favorite thing. Like yesss queen slayyyy 🎉❤❤❤❤
❤❤
Yes, please more thrifting. Loved it.
I am so glad I found your channel it seems more laid back from other New Yorkers I watch on TH-cam and I really love it here on your channel!❤❤
Yes! Love thrifthing🧚🏿♀️
Yes!!! 🙌 love a good thrifting trip! 🥰
I binged a bunch of your videos a few days ago & now I keep coming back. So easy to enjoy with the vibe & format you have mastered, & is also something that's missing these days on YT. Thanks for showing us your NY Chelsea! I hope your channel blows up.
This is so nice. Thank you!
Hey Chelsea,
I have been following your channel for a while now. as someone who lives in NYC as an immigrant , I love your channel. all the other (most of the TH-cam )in NYC are very Gucci and high-end which gives us an unreal sense of comparison. I love how your videos are very ordinary and authentic!
Showcasing case a normal life in NYC which isn't glamorous - keep up the good work./
It makes me really happy that you were able to walk away from the corporate job with this channel.!
💚
Don't forget estate sales! They are also wonderful for great, highend items at good prices. I also saw where someone in NY found a vintage Ralph Lauren framed picture at Housing Works. You found some good ones!
I ADORE the vintage Paris painting!!! It rocks and so do you!!!!!
I absolutely love the rain as well! So glad you had the opportunity for a wonderful stroll.
The Paris picture with Notre Dame, PRE fire, is gently sweet.
I love the waiter balancing the glasses on a tray so much!
I think its cool bc all the art pieces seem to represent a part of Chelseas personality or history! B&W pic represents when she worked at rest/served tables like the guy in pic; "coffee" piece is self-explanatory, she loves coffee; Paris piece (my fave) is Chelseas romantic side (+ love for travelling)! 😌😉
Those prices in the beginning were crazy! Lady, you do not have to know anything about art or paintings or sculpture! The only thing you need to know is if you like it and if it speaks to you! And I think mix and match is the best kind of display in your home. I think you did well! I loved this video!
That first place seemed more vintage than thrift.
Oh, I. was just at Mother of Junk on March 3rd. That place is amazing.
The coffee wall hanging looks like the style of the wall hangings in the apartments of the "Friends" characters.
I like the Paris picture in the bedroom, the coffee in the kitchen, and the waiter over the bar area. I loved thrifting with you.
Thank you for taking us around Chelsea! I love when I see places locals go to in New York
tapestry is safer over your head where you sleep. The skater over the desk to give you energy. Maybe another Paris print to go with this one in the sitting room. Coffee one deffo in the kitchen ;) Happy International Women's Day Chelsea :)
I would definitely put the Paris picture in the bedroom, because the bedroom is for love. 💞
Awwww - new video of you online is a great start to the weekend ❤ greetings from Germany hihi
What a nice surprise to have your new vlog come up while I was listening to random TH-cam in the background. Have a great weekend, and see you tomorrow. 😊
I would wait till you get more pieces before you hang anything, but the coffee painting definitely belongs in the kitchen!
I live for the coziness and peace your videos give me. ☕️🛋️ I am not a city person at all and spending a day in New York sounds so overwhelming to me. But with you as my favorite New Yorker, I can experience the adventures of walking those streets, hunting for thrift treasures and feel with you when you need to rest. 🌂
Thank you, Chelsea! 🥹💜
Sending hugs from Germany,
Vanessa
I have a picture so much like that Paris one! I gasped and whispered “YES” when you held it up :)
This was a fun video. Especially love the ice skating waiter! I think it would be brilliant above the bar cart when you set that up. Good choices!
Hi Chelsea! I love the art pieces you selected - Paris is my favourite city so I would have been drawn to it as well. For the coffee art - could you put it on the wall by your coffee machine? Also I like the idea of the B & W going on the wall where you were thinking of placing a bar cart. In terms of the Paris image - I’m thinking it’s giving cozy vibes so the bedroom is great - but I think since it’s smaller it should go on a smaller wall so it doesn’t get lost. - you could buy a photo shelf, mount it above the bed and lean a couple of different pieces of art on it. Side note - living in Vancouver I also love the rain. I hope you have an incredible weekend ❤
Please second video! I love seeing people thrift and hunt for gems!
Here in the UK I go to what we call ‘boot sale’. Basically a field where people sell off unwanted items out the boot of their car on a table. Thrift stores have silly mark up prices. I prefer boot sales, charity shops, FB marketplace and Gum Tree. Also Vinted for clothing! Another lovely video Chelsea.
A did a gallery wall above my bed, and I love it. So just add art as you feel it. Someone told me one time, be very purposeful when buying art, make sure it means something to you!! ❤❤❤❤ love the vintage pieces.
i LOVED the Coffee & Ice Skating pictures, and please do more of these style videos, very cool!
Hi Chelsea!
I looove vintage shopping. That is also very popular here in Europe nowadays. You never know which hidden gems you'll find. I think that's the beauty of it. I like the B&W one you got, I'm sure it'll look great in the bar area. Good thing is that you can always switch the paintings to another wall or to another room in case you like to change the look of you place. Either way you got yourself 3 nice gems, congrats. Hope I can see you live tomorrow, don't know what time it'll be here when you go live, but I'll try my best! Greetings from Germany!😊
I love the moody rain music :)
I think the skating waiter is FANTASTIC and should be near your table since that’s the theme of the photo. Either where your round mirror is or your geometric painting, which you could move to another wall space in your dining room/office area.
I Like the Coffee Picture best over the stove and the icescater Not over the pc but on the left Part of the Wall and the notre dame ob the small Wall in your bedroom 😊
And i'm really impressed, the Art works so well together and with the Environment in your flat🥰❤️ (the color of the notre dame frame ist nearly the same Like the color of your bedding and the Icescater and the Coffee Picture are working so well with the painting you did by yourself)
Ooooh, I love digging for treasure at thrift stores and flea markets! In fact, I am sitting just a few feet away from a table I bought at a Manhattan Housing Works many years ago. 🙌 I love everything you bought, especially the Paris print! Maybe you will find a few more pieces of wall art for a little grouping here and there. In the meantime, I love the idea of that fabulous black-and-white photo going over a bar cart. And I cannot wait for your bar cart video to come. Yay! Clink, clink! ☕️❤️☕️
My absolute favourite thing is to thrift for furniture, paintings and decor pieces!! Your home becomes so special and you take these pieces from place to place. It doesn’t matter where I end up my pieces look great. Liked the look of Mum and Junk! Yes, please more thrifting videos! Any people near Chelsea, help her put those arms on her couch!!
I like 'the dancer' over your desk. And yes, get two prints for over your couch. Or you could do a gallery wall with all sorts of things.
Great art choices! You don't necessarily need a split frame for over the couch. You can also get a few smaller different size and shapes frames/art and make a couple of small gallery walls on each side of the molding. And yes to the renter friendly wallpaper 👍🏼🙌🏼
Actually laughed out loud at the Picasso cut - this was so much fun and I’d love to see more! I’m also decorating a new place, so this provided a lot of inspiration. (Also, I think I like Mr. Chair over the desk - it’ll be good if you have to look up for a little midday motivation.)
I love how much you engage with your audience :)
Your apartment is coming along so well! It's really showing character. And you definitely have an eye for design and style.
The picture of the man would be great near the corner for when you have the bar cart set up!
Yes….the waiter picture put to the left of your desk because you mentioned setting up a bar there.
The coffee one on the wall to the left of the cabinets where you were sitting in the kitchen. The Paris painting on the wall where the long side of your bed is. You could do a collage of vintage French (or a number of countries like England, Italy, Etc) postcards/photos/prints 😢around it. Good luck!
Great job, Chelsea! Greetings from the EU!
Lovely vlog! I'm excited to go thrifting, haha. It's fun to come across surprising and exciting items! Lovely thrift finds!
10:56 Tip: calculate your % off by 10... 10% of 40 is $4.. so 20% is $8. 30% is $12, etc.. just keep adding another 10% to your total off. say it was 15% off of 40.. add 10 ($4) than 1/2 of 10 ($2).. so your total off would be $6... :)
Hi Chelsea!!! I love seeing you out and about in NYC! I went there in September and i still think about it every single day. Your videos make me feel like i'm there again. I really really like the coffee poster you got, it suits the colour of the kitchen so well as well 💕 I could really see a big collage wall working in your bedroom, all sorts of little paintings, prints, pictures!!
The black and white photo is amazing!
LOVE the coffee print!
Yes new vlog love your vlogs Chelsea ❤
Love your thrifted art! Try Coffee Mug in the kitchen, Man over the bar cart and make Paris the start of a collage on the blank wall next to the art you did. Art filled walls in that room could make an eye-catching statement. PS.... split picture is called a diptych 🥰🤗🖼🎨🖌
Hiya~! Just my random opinion on where pieces could go.
I think the black and white painting should be by the dining table since its like food related.. you could keep both that and the existing painting in the same area or move the one you made to above the computer desk wall.
Alternately the "coffee print" can also go with the "steps" painting as they also visualkly work well together, but I like the idea of the coffee paining in the kitchen (although, I'd go for putting it over the stove vent instead of the small wall) :)
Also, the water color painting does work well in your bedroom, but I agree, maybe wait until you can find one or two other complimenting pieces and make it like a feature wall of images behind your head (in lieu of a headboard)
that is all! love your channel! BOOP!
Love the pictures 😅❤🎉
Yesssss Chelsea vlog 🙌
I lack talent in the "interior decorating" world, but I love the Paris painting - I have visited the city a few times and it truly is romantic and captivating. As for the "Coffee" painting - it is awesome (I am biased) because you mentioned it is made in Canada!! 🇨🇦
Us Canadians are pretty talented, eh?!!!!
Spit my olive that I was eating on the screen when you made the Angry Bird face, I just wasn't prepared. :'DDDDD Love that you picked up the waiter picture, I loved it too! But I love black and white images. Also the coffee one I would have picked up!
Had a great time at the house warming!🎉❤ that photo needs to go where the future bar is going.❤ I love that photo so much!!! All great finds. Thanks for taking us and I would love to go with you to more.
I loved the pink armchair in the first shop you went to. How fun Thanks for sharing
The vibe is amazing
I love your thrift finds! The coffee print looks so good in the kitchen 🤎
This was FUN! I loved seeing the shops and what you got❤
I LOVE what you got!!!!❤
You picked the perfect spot for the Coffee wall art… I would place the black & white image above your future bar cart.
