You’re a young woman and you’re teaching this 59-year-old woman how to be independent I was married for 30 years very rough marriage finally got divorced on my own for the first time in my life. I’ve never done a movie by myself always with girlfriends the only time I went to a restaurant is a fast food restaurant by myself never a sit down restaurant, I feel like I have time to grow. Thanks for encouraging and sharing your story. I too have learned to enjoy my alone time never thought I would but once I had to put my big real pants on, I learned I could fly, and hopefully I can fly higher.🦋

Laura, I can relate-- I too am 59 and divorced after 30 years of marriage. I did have some time alone in my early 20s and I learned I do like doing some things alone, like going to movies or events if I couldn't find someone who wanted to go (I like going with people, but going alone is nice too). Divorce after a long marriage is a huge change, but there's a lot of growth in it. Good luck!

Chelsea. 32-year-old (almost 33 ugh) single Canadian woman here. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I relate to what you're saying about putting up a defence mechanism after being hurt so many times. I just went through another heartache recently and have been feeling so jaded and heartbroken in recent weeks. Dating in your 20's is one thing, but dating in your 30's is a whole different thing - especially in this day and age. It's especially hard for us women when we have so many people saying "you're so great - how are you single?!!" If I hear that one more time I might go crazy. I just wanted to thank you for being so open. It's been really great seeing another woman my age being so honest. And, you make me realize that being single isn't so bad. We've got this. xo

Alone time is important. Me and my husband both have "our stuff"-he has his motorbike, I have my running and music. We spend a lot of time together and share some passions, but we also appreciate time for ourselves. It's the balance that matters, because you don't want to end up being "roommates" and living next to each other, as opposed to together. But if there is communication and understanding, it works I think :)

I'm hyper-hyper independent but got into a relationship last year. He is a stellar human being and treats me well but sometimes it's difficult for me to be paired up, due to me being so used to my alone time and enjoying it. We both agree that doing our own things is just as important as time together. So, it can be done, as long as both parties are on the same page.

My partner and I met at 18 in college and have been together nearly 13 years - he and I love spending time together but time apart allows us to share new experiences & add some fun into our conversations. Same here! Been with my partner since I've been 17, now 30. I never want to feel like I HAVE to stay with him because I couldn't do life alone, I'd rather actually choose to be in this relationship because I want to, not out of fear. I even enjoy taking trips alone, my partner doesn't like city trips/going to museums etc so I love that I'm independent enough to just go away for a long weekend and do what I enjoy! I'm in Europe and I've been in Prague, Brussels and Copenhagen alone. It's a bit uncomfortable at first but you really get used to it quickly.

@@SammyK45 Life can definitely be done alone but it’s way more fun as a team. Being supported by someone you love on the daily is what I consider to be a great gift in my life. I couldn’t feel you more on that. My partner and I lived in Scotland while he was getting his masters and I spent a lot of time traveling and doing day trips alone. The more you do it, the better you feel. 🖤

As a 50+ year old Latina born and bred New Yorker, I ended up taking a break from New York City in my late 20s and decided to start fresh in Chicago and that is where I met my husband. We ended up moving to NYC a couple of years later. So, love happens when you least expect it. When it does…you know it and you are not afraid of it. Also, as a New Yorker…the beauty of NYC and NYS is that you can have your own adventures by yourself! My favorites were going to the Met or the Cloisters or like you…to the movies. So keep doing them!

I may have said this before, but it is a privilege to live alone as a woman. History has not reflected a very positive experience for women living by themselves in the past. You’re really making g the most of things Chelsea and I love how you’re blossoming in front of our eyes. Dating in most places from your 30s onwards is a bit tricky, you’re doing so well. Fun fact, I’ve just found out that Trader Joe’s is owned by ALDI. Apparently two brothers inherited ALDI from their dad, and they spilt into Aldi south and north. The difference being that originally one of the brothers didn’t want to sell cigarettes. Hence, the differing company names…who knew. Keep doing what you’re doing Chelsea, your community loves you ❤❤❤❤

I LOVED “Poor Things!” I think Emma is getting a second Oscar. She deserves it. And as a screenwriter/filmmaker, I go to the movies ALL THE TIME, and often by myself. Also, the joys of seeing a movie in the middle of the day when no one else is there! I love solo movie dates! 😆 As far as dating, I’m also single but I had a ton of fun dating in NYC. My experience was similar to what you said: Everyone was so focused on their careers or hustles that no one was ready for anything serious. We all just wanted to have a good time - and we did. Now that I’m older, and living in Los Angeles, I’m looking at the dating scene a lot differently. It’s difficult to find women my age who I can relate to. I dunno, it’s just hard. Loved this vlog Chelsea. As a 38yr old woman who's been married for 10.5yrs and with my husband for 15.5yrs, can definitely say time to yourself is still sooo important!
I admit I don't get it as much as I need in between work, our 3 kids, home jobs and my husband's night shift work.
But last year I took a huge leap and went camping for 1.5 days all on my own ♥️ Completely isolated and no one around. It was the best experience ever and even had a beautiful full moon on that night too.
Something I'm hoping to fit in during my next 2 week break from work coming up in April.
But I still absolutely love my time with my husband more. We love experiencing and sharing together. Mondays we both have off work, so they are usually our date day 🤗

I got married at 23, divorced by 26. I’m turning 31 this July and I live alone. My boyfriend and I have been together since the end of 2020, both have adult careers and the thought of getting married again scares the hell out of me. I like my space. No one makes extra dishes or touches my thermostat. My boyfriend will visit for a weekend and it’s lovely being together but then he leaves and it’s my space again. With my dog and my plants and trash tv and snacks lol

Love this! I'm married, but I had a great time going to Lady Bird alone at the theater with big reclining seats. Plus I had a coupon for free birthday popcorn. lol. This video reminded me how long it's been, though.

I'm in a long term relationship and VALUE my alone time. I'm off Saturdays and he works them so they are my day to either meet with friends, my mom, or my favorite days- just spend it with myself. We have staggered schedules so I spend the first few hours of my day with just me which is great because I have to be alone to accomplish any cleaning or anything else productive 😬

    LOVED this honest conversation.
I am also single, and in my 30's, and resonated so much with what you said.
Solo dates are so much fun. I always tell people it is so important to build that personal relationship with yourself so when you are alone, you never feel lonely.
And the hyper-independence is where I've been for the past 10 years. It's something that I've been actively trying to work on. It is a struggle to push through and trust someone with being vulnerable.
I could talk about this subject forever. So refreshing to hear your take on this!

Hi Chelsea, I've missed you:) you're looking good girl!!!
Yes, solo dates are great, I learned this later in life though. So glad you are enjoying your 30's and doing your thing, at your own pace. Forget about what society says, don't listen to that noise. Do you. Do what you like, whenever you like. The relationship we have with ourselves is super important and we have to nourish it. Someone special will arrive eventually but even then your wellbeing and self love should be the nr 1 priority.I'm turning 50 this year, love my life and I'm so glad I learned to put me first and enjoy some me time here and there.
I love to see you enjoying this time of your life. You deserve happiness.Always!
Happy weekend and greetings from Germany! 🙂

I’ve lived alone and with my partner. Past experiences have taught me how to get better at just loving myself REGARDLESS if I’m in a relationship or not. The gym has helped me gain and regain my confidence. Small alone time like doing my nails and treating myself to a nice trail/hiking experience is what I do to reconnect with myself! Everyone has their preferences, I just refuse to let go of my individuality. That is called codependency and it actually harms your relationship rather than helping it. The ultimate love you should have is the one you have to YOU!

Love this. I’m 42 and have been single for 2 years after a 10 year relationship. The big difference for me now compared to my 20’s is I am loving being single and knowing I can look after myself. I do question if I’m maybe now a little hyper independent too, and I’ve had to accept that I probably won’t have kids but I’m okay with that. I think it’s really healthy and emotionally intelligent to know that you can be in a relationship not because you need someone to validate you but because you genuinely love that person for who they are and also won’t settle for being treated any less than you are worth.

I LOVE your channel, it brings me comfort, knowing I am not alone in my struggles , you shine a light that IT IS OKAY and NORMAL to doubt yourself, to make mistakes, a lot of them and that we CAN move forward. Coming here to say I can back up that doing things on your own, even if you’re in a relationship, is totally healthy - I regularly go to the cinema on my own to see films my partner isn’t interested in, he does stuff without me on his own. I’d love to go on holiday on my own sometime. I also screamed out loud when you produced the Kerrygold… YES IRELAND!

Well, this one hit the right spot.
As we're allover sharing on this channel, here's my take on it. I don't want to have a family, and not because I'm stupid like that, but because in my 30s I realized this is a lot of responsibility, and your responsible behavior towards people is almost always abused. I want to be an honest caring person, and other people immediately think this is a way to manipulate your sense of responsibility into exploiting you and then throw you away.
So no, I'm not going through this again. I'm not handsome, I'm certainly not a womanizer or anything of the sorts. I just want to live my quiet life in peace without hurting anyone, yet without letting anyone hurt me.
    Welp, yup, that was that.
You're always a pleasure to watch, Chelsea, thanks.

I’m also happily single in my 30s and can confirm that it’s so nice having a family that doesn’t try to pressure or nag you about it. Someone asked my mom wasn’t she ready for me to give her a grand baby 🙄 and she said “I’m perfectly happy with my grand dog” 😂 (my dog likes my mom more than she likes me lol). I’m a firm believer in “if it happens, it happens” but tbh the older I get, the more I enjoy being alone and honestly the idea of having someone that lived with me that I would be expected to socialize with everyday just sounds exhausting and miserable (purely talking about myself here, I’m not anti-marriage or anything like that when it comes to other people)

I met my now husband when we were both 36. We grew up 30 minutes apart and he was living less than a mile from my parents in my hometown. We had a handful of common people in our lives… but we hadn’t ever met! Moral of the story: when it’s mean to be it will happen. You never know who you will meet. Be open to meet someone if that’s what you want. If you’re not ready, don’t push yourself. Maybe I put too much faith in the universe sending me what/ who I need, but she always makes sense in the end. Chin up, beautiful! Great vlog, love a solo day date and TJ’s is so wonderful 🥰🥰🥰 keep up the good work 💗💗💗

The part about dating in your 30s really resonated with me. It's hard to go through the process over and over trying to find that connection. Especially in your 30s it seems to be expected that you have found the one, start that family, have a stable career. I feel that pressure more as a single 30 year old. Lots of people around me have started that perfect picture. Before it was more like we will see and now...I would love to have kids, become a mom...it's always on my mind even at the start which adds pressure as well. It's been on my mind quite a bit these days

Sometimes i just can't put into words how much i enjoy your VIDEOS!!! makes me so excited to be a person (does this even make sense), i just love seeing the day to day things.
I want to respond to so many things you've said but i'll keep it with the part of doing your own thing while being in a relationship. My partner and i are very much our own person, i think that's so important because it gives you things to talk about with eachother and things to lean from eachother. We also don't live together (not by choice, it's just the terrible housing market here in the Netherlands) but that gives us soooo much to talk about when we see eachother about once or twice a week. We also go on seperate holidays (apart from the ones we go on together) and it really allows us to stay our own person while being together. It's the healthiest relationship i've ever been in and i feel truly blessed.
I wish only good and loving things coming your way Chelsea! If that's on your own, with a partner or with a pet. It's in the stars for you for sure!!!✨💕
