I left my 9-5 corporate job end of last year to be a full time youtuber. My experience has been a roller coaster, but if you've ever been curious about what's it's really like in the first three months, this video is for you. However, this is just my experience, and everyone has a different one!! I could go into more detail in another video once I have more experience in the industry itself, but for now these are my general reflections and how i've been feeling about it! Grateful every day. Thanks for watching!

There’s so much more I could have talked about too! If you found this kind of video interesting let me know, I can definitely go into more detail on some of these things from my perspective… especially once I have more experience in the industry. For right now, I am a little sponge with a beginner’s mind. Thanks for watching ❤ Official invite to my housewarming live event coming to my instagram & community tab next week, stay tuned!
Chelsea, check the waterdrop link in the description box. It doesn’t work. Maybe it’s just me.
thank you! it should be working now 😊 sorry about that @@moda78z
So I am curious since you missed your window to apply for dental and medical health benefits that means you can’t apply at all ever? And you have to find a job with these benefits in order to get them again?
to be honest i'm not sure!! i'll probably bring it up in future vlogs what my solution ends up being!@@deborahthatsme
Dang, your channel is growing like bigger than Seymour from Little Shop. XD
Still the best sponsored segments on TH-cam.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
For real!! I ❤ the factor ones the best!!❤
Segment? That's no comedy bit, that's Chelsea's evil twin!
Absolutely agree
Yes! Love the sponsorship videos. Believe me that’s not something I usually say!😊
"feeling terrified is better than feeling bored"
love this!
And this is why I switched jobs the end of last year!
not sure I agree)) sometimes I prefer to be bored
The myth of normal. Fear/anxiety is not better than boredom.
Just wanted to say, I'm so happy I found your channel last year. Love how real and imperfect it is - that's what makes it perfect. Your personality is like a breath of fresh air, and every video makes me feel like we're in this together. Keep doing your thing, girl!
thank you so much ❤️ we are definitely in this together
Kind voice, kind spirit, heart on your sleeve, being honest, and being able to communicate your point. Chelsea keep being you. You are fantastic!
thank you for your kind words 💘
Chelsea - adore your high-pressure, low-anger personality. It's a lovely mix.
haha I've never thought of it that way. thank you ❤
Your commentary about not having health insurance while you were perched on the window sill was perfect timing for dramatic tension. You are correct about the quiet but fearful mechanisms that keep people in corporate life (spot on). Also I think you need to oil your door hinges.
Yes, she 💯 hit the nail on the head about keeping people in corporate life. I’m nearing the end of my work career, hopefully will retire in two more years at the age of 59. I am from the generation that corporate life IS life. The stability, the health insurance, the endless hours so you can afford a car, home, and lots of vacations. I have succeeded at all of this, but the rub of it is the grind of it all, little fulfillment, and like Chelsea said, working to make other’s lives easier. It comes with a price. If there had been TH-cam back in the early 90’s, maybe I would’ve gone that route.😊
"I'm stressed, but I'm incredibly happy". That literally brought tears to my ears, it's so good to see that you're doing great and I couldn't be happier for you.
You got this, girl!! ✨💖
I normally skip over sponsored content in videos - if it’s something I’m not interested in or if I’ve seen multiple creators doing them - but I love how you’ve been doing them. It’s fun!!
SO FUN ❤
I’m so glad your channel got into my algorithm last year!
Omg water drop is so lucky you crushed the sponsorship - was epic 👏- I recently found your channel and really enjoy it for so many reasons - I have a small channel where I focus on gluten and dairy free cooking and baking but after a rough 2023 and running over into 2024 I want to add more of everything I love into my channel but am not sure how to go about it!😊❤
so glad you found me! love your channel concept, such a cool thing you're doing ❤
@@ChelseaCallahan thank you 🙏 it’s just that it’s so niche and there is so much more to my world and creative side - am kinda frozen and lacking confidence in where to begin in adding new and different content to my channel! Hoping at some point I get the courage to just do it!
I agree now I want to order it buy it and drink it 24/7
these ad spots just keep getting better and better! LOVED the cross over surprise, alexis is my other fave nyc-vlogger 😁
Yessssss!!! Chelsea & Alexis are 2 of my top comfort channels!! Was great seeing them together ☺️
Same here, what a lovely surprise!
Came here to say this as well! Followed Chelsea after seeing her on Alexis’s vlog. ☺️
Also - this behind the scenes real look is the best- it’s exactly what I want to tune into. People wanna know what it takes to be a content creator. A lot of people want to be TH-camrs without realizing how much work it is and young kids feel entitled by that thinking it’s easy to be glamorous and live in a huge house without doing the work. I think blogs like this is what is going to elevate your channel. I feel like you’re really finding your stride as a content creator who isn’t just trying to be an influencer and sell people excessive consumerism junk from Amazon that we don’t need. Keep up the good work girl.
I found your channel last year and it's been great to see you grow as a person, changes and challenges that came but seeing you embrace them is something inspiring.
I'm just starting on youtube, I graduated last year from college and everyone's expecting me to get a 9-5, I might as well do, but I've always wanted to start my channel, you asked us to say what our channel is about but tbh i'm just experimenting with different topics and styles, but once again, your channel and your journey have been motivating to me, you're so authentic and that's something I value a lot, thanks for sharing bits of your life 💙
I watch Alexis too. A lot of us were like yeah Chesla is so cool. I love your openness and honesty. I’m so proud of you!
OMG, I watched your channel months ago and saw you were working a corporate job - and now you quit! Amazing! I know you will be really successful as a TH-camr! :D
Ahhh thanks for your support!! ❤️
I want to thank you for being so open and honest about your experience. I know how vulnerable that can feel but its also so relatable. I worked for starbucks for just under 10 years while going to school and they consider 20 hours a week full time which gives you all the benefits including vacation hours, medical, and 401k match. They also give a wonderful sense of community. That could be a fun part time job for you because you meet so many interesting people. With that being said, I think its fun to watch your progress on this platform and if you’re comfortable with it, a fun video idea could be how much TH-cam paid you the 1st year of monetizing your channel or something along those lines. I always find those videos eye opening. Anyway, thanks you for your content and being so damn relatable ❤
You look great with or without professional makeup!! We all like to totally chill on our less busy or off days. It is much needed for your mental health. I would love to post on You Tube, but I am clueless regarding editing.
I hear ya learning to edit for me is a huge learning curve and am still not great and great editing sets your content apart - something I too need to work on - though it can be done and you can do it too!
Love your rambling vlogs on life. I have dabbled in making youtube videos about triathlon training and traveling! It's hard to think I could go from 50 subscribers to as many as you one day. Like I don't have as much to say as other creators. I admire you broadening your videos ❤
omg you do triathalons!? that's incredible❤
Who knew your acting skills would be utilised for your sponsors, it works so well. You are the most honest person on TH-cam I’ve ever met. Being self focussed is the only way to be, you are only responsible for you. You’ll relax into it and you’ll work out your own boundaries. This is such a new experience for you. I really hope you can find a part time job in an engagement position, one that showcases and develops all your natural community connection skills. You go girl you’re really smashing it ❤❤❤
I love that you are friends with Alexis Eldridge. I follow her too! Love you both xxx
Same!!❤
Same same!!🌸
I love that I found you channel! I actually quit my 9-5 so I can finish school and I have unlocked so much in me that I don't even recognize my old self. (Thank you therapy lol) Yes, I am 29 living with my parents, BUT I am about to finish my master's program and have applied for my Ph.D. I am so happy that I finally decided to fully focus on school but also the creatity in my. I do vlog, my videos are abut me being recently diagnosed with ADHD and going through Grad school. I also talk about the books I read because I stopped reading due to burnout.
Chelsea!! It took me 4 days to get to this video but your vlogs are the ones I look forward to the MOST. They are always ALWAYS!! so beautifully structured. I am glued to them from start to finish and nothing seems to be able to distract me away from them. ❤
I’m really grateful that you became a Content Creator so that all of us random people could be exposed to you rather than just the ppl confined to your orbit because you are so incredibly special.
1. TY for sharing this video.
2. I’m a tiny toddler YTer, posted my 1st vlog Oct ‘23, without real intentions on being a legit “vlogger” or “CC” but my husband encouraged it as a way for me to have an additional outlet and I’m happy he did because
3. A vlogger came across my ch and, for SOME reason, suggested I take a look at your ch.
4. So I did mostly because I wanted to honor her suggestion and not because I wanted to see another “Life-Alone, NYC” Vlog 😅 I really wasn’t interested in that any more honestly
BUT THEN… you!
I needed exactly YOU in my life.
And I’ve been inspired to keep up my Vlogging journey as a way to explore myself further, to push my self into new territories, because of how inspiring you are.
I’m 36yo and stopped being a fan-girl a long time ago, not even for celebs, but I’m totally fan-girling b.c your humanity shines through so brightly. I mean to say, your dimension and layers are always flawfully glowing. ❤
Anyway, Sanks,
NoWa
This video is so timely, I just submitted an application for an admin assistant job and I am TERRIFIED. I've worked in a grocery store for the past 12 years and I have a lot of mental hang-ups about feeling like I'm not cut out for anything else...so it helps to hear that you were going through a similar struggle when you transitioned from a waitress to your corporate job. I really admire how brave you are to pursue this TH-cam thing and I'm grateful for your transparency about the process. Makes me feel a little less alone. ❤ ALSO, what lip product are you using in your narration scenes? I love that peachy color on you and want to try it out.
As a 13 Year Grocery store vet myself… congrats to you. Your gonna do just fine.
Thank you, I appreciate it :) Seems like not many people stay in jobs for this long anymore, for better or worse. Hard to find people to relate to! @@MikeLHunt916
Best of luck to you. Hope you get the job!
oh my god that's so exciting! you got this ❤ I used the brand ilia shade lullaby. sending you all the good vibes for your new chapter!
@@Miishii_59 Thank you! Appreciate you :)
I hadn't focused on the views you've been doing over the last few months and GIRL! GOOD JOB! You deserve all this growth, your channel is doing great and I'm very happy for you❤❤❤❤❤❤
🥹😭 thank you!
I love watching you and alexis!! Two of my favs. also i mentally feel close to where you were towards the end of your corporate career. Itching to find something new or dive in to baking like ive always wanted. thank you for your content!!
I'm so glad I found your channel, it's one of my absolute faves!! ❤❤️
Another video yes! I loved this video thank you. It really resonated and it was something I’ve been needing to hear.
Thank you!
Chelsea!!! Thank you for (always) making such honest and thoughtful content. I love this behind the scenes look and I wish always the best for you! Cheers to community!
Fantastic video Chels!! They're all great but this was especially top notch, and the sponsored segment was toooo impressive! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🧡
I love seeing behind the scenes!!!
Love the video! It’s cool to get a peak of what being a youtuber is like behind the scenes and what was going on behind your big leap to new things!
I really love watching the videos. I feel like you’re taking me along with you on your adventures🎉
I love that Chelsea is always so honest about the real side of things. No fake filter. TH-cam and social media needs more of that! Chelsea has definitely inspired me to share more of the ups and downs in my life. Just uploaded a video om my youtube channel about my mental health journey @onelostswede. I want to inspire others to dare to live outside the norm ❤
First time ever I've watched an ad and beamed ear to ear🤣 seriously love your fun side and creativity, so inspiring and makes me want to have more fun with the small things in life! Xx
would love another vid!! I find the behind the scenes of content creators so fascinating
Hands down the best ad spot on TH-cam! And thank you for showing some behind-the-scenes footage, and also sharing your experience as a full-time creator and some of the real challenges as well. The honesty is refreshing and even though at times, it may be a little scary to share, it’s always appreciated. Thank you.
Loved this video I never normally would click on this sort of thing but watched right to the end! Also the water drop ad was so creative. I have a channel where I post about normal London life, 9-5 office routine and commuting! You inspired me to start my channel again after giving it up over 10 years ago! So glad I did so thank you 😊
so exciting!! your channel looks so fun ❤omg where did you get your red glasses frames? they are so cute
@@ChelseaCallahan Aw thank you so much! they are from a brand i think based in London called Cubbitts! the frames are so thick but I do love them! :)
Thank you for sharing - I really enjoyed learning more about your TH-cam business and would love if you shared more behind the scences in the future!
Love seeing these behind the scenes moments- and you are SO RIGHT about corporate jobs being risky now too. My company just did a huge restricting and a lot of friends of mine were laid off :( it's tough out there, so you're 100% right, if you have the opportunity to take the leap, do it!!
I’m so sorry about your friends :( that is so scary!
I love watching your videos. Kudos to you for leaving your 9-5 job. When I get home from work I always check to see if there is a new video and when there is I am so excited. I love your content and thank you for being so real. Hugs from Australia!
Yours are the only videos I can’t wait to see. You are using your degree and work experience to successfully do what you enjoy. Perfect!
Love the transparency and also love that you hang out with Alexis ! i started my TH-cam channel in 2021 and it's been so hard. Growing here isn't easy at all but i won't give up it needs to work out !
I love you channel and your raw honesty! I’m just starting my channel and you’re a big inspiration. Cheering you on! 🎉
Your sponsor content is one of the best I have seen, you kill it every time! Love your channel, you are doing an amazing job Chelsea, you deserve it all!❤️❤️❤️
I left my full-time job to pursue a creative career 7 years ago and all of your sentiments totally track. I had all the same feelings (and still have them to this day) - a mix of awe, pride, and excitement, and sheet terror that it can all go away at any point. I really feel you on the pain from lack of structure and not being expected somewhere by a certain time each day. Something that's been immensely helpful is going to a coworking space 1-2 times per week. There are a couple of affordable ones in the city and they really help with that "rotting at home" feeling haha
I haven’t tuned into one of your videos since your vlogmas and around when you quit your job, your energy seems so much higher and from an outside perspective it seems like it was the right move even with the down times. I recently just moved to NYC for school and I’m 18, the first few weeks I was here really did suck because I felt like I was unsure wether it was the right choice but exactly what you said, if it’s not it’s something to learn from and now I’m nearly 2 months in and I can truly say I absolutely love living here in NYC!
Hi Chelsea, I found your channel in December and you have the most chill content. I look forward to your videos!
Glad to see you are finding your way into this new arena where you can use your passion for your employment. I see your confidence and happiness growing.
Best of luck.
Thanks Chelsea! I love your videos for your honesty and valuable insights.
What a treat it is to be able to watch your videos! You have such a wonderful vibe and energy
Your face at the end with the makeup looks really good. FLAWLESS 🤍
Super interesting info and loved the very creative sponsorship piece! I always look forward to your content!
Chelsea! You are so creative and you should be very proud of yourself ❤ Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us!
You do work hard to get the videos out. It's appreciated! I've followed Alexis for a while as well, and it was both a surprise and lovely to see the two of you together! xx
Thank you for talking about your managers, I'd never thought of creators having them but of course it makes so much sense when you get to the point of having contracts and brand sponsorships.
I have a small channel where I make planner-related content and sometimes random vlogs. this video was so interesting to hear about all the behind the scenes that happen for a full-time youtuber. keep the content coming
hi dear, I just came across your channel and I love the honesty in your words and content. I love how relatable and traceable you describe everything, Thank you so much for your work on this. I am watching the apartment tour now! ❤
Gosh, I love your channel! Your videos are so good and very captivating because you’re relatable. I have a vlog channel and I absolutely love making the videos, but I relate to being afraid of what people think about my videos therefore, I don’t make them often 🤕
Keep up the great work! It’s amazing to see you succeeding at what you love!
Enjoyed this video! Saw you on Alexis Eldredge’s channel so was happy to see her in this vlog. Hope to see more of you two hanging together. Have a great weekend! 😊
This video was amazing. the insight you bring is truly valuable (to me).
I love how real you are I like your honesty your channel is like a breath of fresh air no pretences and straight forward. Thanks !! 😍🌸
Such a fun and cute ad idea! I love and look forward to your videos! ❤
the only person whose sponsored portions i don't skip!! lmao. so happy for you on your YT journey! it's so scary to pursue what we really want, and to grapple with "purpose." i'm going through something similar right now, as i plan to (maybe) leave my teaching career :/ thank you for your content!!!
This is by far one of your best videos. Thank you for so honest about what it is really like to be a you tube creator. Thank you for being so upfront. The make up looks gorgeous!!!
I'm sooo glad I found your channel, you became my comfort youtuber, after all these months i really consider you a friend, i love you, I'm so happy for you success ❤
You got this girly ❤I believe in you and love watching your funny sense of humor. You’re doing a great job at life 🌹✨
I LOVED hearing more about the behind the scenes
Chelsea this is such a motivating video! and its really like if it was made specifically made for me its crazy! I'm still in the process of figuring out my niche and my community in youtube :D Thanks for your hard work because it really gets to our hearts.
I follow Alexis Eldridge too!✨
Its such a nice surprise that you two are friends, and to see her pop up in a video of yours!❤
LOVED the video! Incredibly interesting. Thank you for being real! Your sponsored parts are WAY better than regular commercials on TV or any other person on TH-cam. No joke. They need to take lessons from you!
i love that you and Alexis are friends! I watch her vlogs too. I love that both your guys' content are realistic about nyc life.
she's the best!!
I love following your channel and it has really encouraged me to invest into my own. I was made redundant and decided to take the leap into self-employment rather than going back to a corporate position. I totally understand what feeling terrified means, but your videos are always really encouraging, because they feel so real. ❤
Hi, Chelsea! I think I started watching your channel right when you moved into your current place and I love it. Each video feels like I’m checking in on a friend. I love how real and candid you are. Keep that shit up! 😄✨😄
Loving your videos ❤
So happy for you Chelsea! Really inspiring
I love your vlogs, I’ve said it before, but they are so honest and real. It’s easy to watch! And I also watch Alexis- so cool to see you guys hanging out. I love that you are feeling more fulfilled in what you are doing- and yeah it’s scary to leave a 9-5, but you are doing it, and doing so well! We all are here for it! ❤
loved this especially as someone who recently started a channel and struggle to keep up with it sometimes! you make me see the light!
Congratulations on taking your next step. I love how your makeup turned out.
I loved this video so much! I quit my corporate job last year for 6 months to pursue my dreams and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. Best of luck to you on your journey Chelsea!! ❤
Saw the whiteboard during the Apt tour and really glad you have one. I could never live without mine. ALSO, I get the exec assist burnout. I was just counting 9, yes 9 former workplaces, and each had an excellent exec. assist that really wanted to be doing something else. It’s just a weird thing in the corp workplace that even if I were that exec, I’d do my own stuff just out of respect. The fact that you’re working more hours for yourself (in the FLOW) is encouraging enough that you’re gonna make it. Keep it up! Take care!
I’m so grateful I found you last year Chelsea and Alexis you guys and Tisha are just cool amazing creative people I so proud how far you have come ❤
Chelsea, you are so GREAT at these commercials/brand sponsorships!!! You and Alexis looked so pretty and it was great to see both of you together.
Good for you Chelsea! Sometimes you don’t know what’s going to happen until you actually do it. You make decisions as you go. Good luck!😊
A video of chels on a friday after a long week is always a treat!
I’m so proud of you Chelsea for taking a leap of faith with your channel. I’m always so happy to watch one of your videos because I see the realness and similar imperfections in myself. You are a fresh of breath of fresh air with a quirky personality. Never apologise for any bumps or mistakes along your journey. ❤😊
You did a great job with your commercial for Waterdrops. You're very talented; I'm definitely influenced!! 🤩
Such a cute ad segment. Thanks for sharing some of the nuances of being a creator. I just started a new channel after vlogging sporadically on my old one for years. Hoping for a fresh start and more focused creative energy with the ultimate goal of growing a community (love that you spoke to that aspect as well). Congratulations on your journey! I'm sure it's just beginning.
Such an outstanding video, Chelsea! It's good to see the various aspects of what goes into all of this, while also gaining your keen insight! Also there was a nice personal side to this, allowing us to feel like we're getting to know you better. Awesome job! Well done!! 🫶
You have come so far…nice to watch you grow. Stop self-deprecation, you look FAB wearing confidence Chelsea;) and look where your courage + confidence got you. 88K+ almost at 100K:)
It takes a good dose of courage to leave a secure working job environment and jump into your dreams. Congrats for that and you can be proud of yourself, even with the downside of uncertainty. 👏🏻👏🏻 I enjoy your videos a lot! 👌🏻
I really liked this video and getting to know you better. Do some more like this!
I appreciated this video immensely. All of it! Thank you for your candidness. I left teaching after nearly two decades, just under two years ago, and have been a full-time artist in Brooklyn ever since. I *loved* your comment that "feeling terrified is better than feeling bored." Here's to GOOD terror and carving our own paths in this wild city! *Just* recently started the TH-cam journey and love the opportunity for long-form content. Thank you for always keeping it authentic!♥
Chelsea, I'm so proud of you for taking the leap of leaving your 9-5! Every time I hear you talk about this it inspires me and gives me hope that I could one day take that leap too
Love this content. Thank you!
I really like the way you think. Give a brilliant mind. Julie, break down. Your thoughts and motivation is so relatable. I know that's so draw for me watching your videos. I can feel your energy and it's contagious. This is the third video I've watched figures. Just found you and loving each one. Thank you for being so open and sharing.😊
Loved the Water Drop segment, well done !!!
Hi! I’m so happy for you and coming from someone who left corporate America 6 months ago, it was the BEST thing for my mental health! ❤
I love this video. I recently started my channel and feel so lost on what content to film. I love how this video is so relatable.
I just had to come here in the comments after your sponsored segment because it’s impossible to skip! You are the best!
