I like how you make decorating attainable. Some "designers" make it seem so exhausting, overwhelming and expensive. You were able to do this project with ease and considerably inexpensive with your previous finds and items already in your home. And you made the room look more like a home instead of a showroom. Even when your decision wasn't quite clear you would "live with it" and make a final choice later. Thank you
Your home is lovely and such a refreshing change from the current trend of white on white. I feel like your home shows who you are and that is a great compliment. The fireplace idea was good.
I love the little table and I think it looks just right by the door. The bookcase was a fabulous find and looks great on that wall. The only thing I'd gently suggest is removing all the kitchen items from it and put them in the kitchen. Great job!
Thank you!! Haha the canisters were never in the kitchen! lol they are definitely the controversial decision of this video for sure! I really love them for now, they make me happy, and eventually this bookcase will change as I am always changing up my decor! Thank you so much for watching!
I like how the red paint brings attention to the design. Any darker colour, even slightly darker, than the colour white would draw attention to the art deco design. The TV stand is so unique!
I love the advice from home decor author Lauri Ward in her “Use What You Have Decorating” book (circa 1998): she suggests a person should rotate their collections for display like a museum does. A museum has too many items to display altogether so instead feature certain collections/items at different times or seasons etc.
I really enjoy your videos. You have a great eye for design and you are very talented. I am a thrift store junkie and have found wonderful items for my home. Thanks for sharing your talent ❤️❤️ M
I’m new to your channel. I subscribed after watching about 3 videos. As a person who loves to find great deals and ideas you really fit the bill with your content.
Love your style! It looks so good. Your talent for making seemingly random items work together is amazing! I want to walk around and enjoy every last detail.
Yes, I was thinking that the fireplace still looks a bit too white to me. I was also thinking that darker pieces of artwork close to the tv would blend the screen in more. Like actually in the after shots the dark chair kind of takes focus away from the tv. I love that you don't want to make tv the focal point of the room (and the fireplace very clearly should be it) but your room is hard to figure out in that sense. My favourite idea for the tv would be a thin cabinet with wheels (and with doors, like old radio/tv cabinets were)! That could be rolled in front of the fireplace (or anywhere) when you want to watch it? Maybe it could be a console table behind the couch normally?
I do basically the same thing. I start out changing just a few things on shelves, and before I know it, other things come and go, and I've moved half a dozen other things in or out of the room. It always ends up looking fresh and new. We all need that from time to time. What's amazing is that I have discovered that many of the things I have are interchangeable from one room to another. I have obviously discovered what I like. My style sort of snuck up on me when I wasn't looking!
You have a great eye for decorating 😃👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. I LOVE your new living room. With your TV - leave it on the mantle and rig a picture over it when it is not in use. The picture can have a little of the brick red color in it too. Also, the are tv mounts that you can pull the tv down a bit so you won’t strain your neck. It’s actually an easy fix. I absolutely love your new bookshelves and how you decorated them. 👍🏼
Bookcase is lovely, it looks kind of Danish Modern. This may sound terrible but I like that reading floor lamp just as is. Wabi Sabi baby! Love the imperfection.
this video is 5 months old so maybe you’ve already solved the tv problem but something i love to do to cover up the vast black eyesore is to drape a fun vintage silk scarf over it. something that’s narrower than the tv but will cover a good chunk of it! i love your refresh & your design in general, it’s so thoughtful!
The shoe rack and table look really good in the entryway and that bookcase was such a good find. I like the red paint on the fireplace and it does distract from the tv. I thought the tv easel would be a good solution but you were right, it did not work at all. The tv on the mantle thing is not ideal. Keep persevering you will find a solution!
Your eye for detail is so fantastic. I really love the careful approach of slowly acquiring each piece because you feel it is a work of art. Makes every part of your home special, and not just filled with things you need, but things that you also make you happy.
Such a lovely room... nice furniture and great colours. Iam struggling with the condition of the walls and ceiling. Mine was the same and I had them plaster skimmed...now super smooth. I think skimming the walls would be of great benefit. 😊
Oh cool! I am actually a renter so I can’t do that as the owner wants to maintain the integrity of the “spanish revival style” of the home but I agree sometimes I wish I had smooth walls! Maybe one day if we can figure out how to buy it haha!
Definitely love changing up the lampshades! They look great! Your steamer looks like the one I have, love it! I love that you put a painting in the bookcase, great idea! You have great style!!! 😊
I just love your living room! I’m totally the same about not liking a tv up high or to be a focal point. When I was in my last place I simply placed a painting in front of it💁♀️
You are so amazingly talented. It's incredible that it only cost a couple of hundred dollars to make the room look that good. I love your channel because the DIYs are realistic to achieve, and everything is so budget friendly. Have you thought about framing the TV and making it into wall art? I haven't done it myself but I saw it on another channel and it didn't look difficult to do.
I absolutely love the candle holder/sculpture you placed in the bookcase. The bookcase was a great find. You're right, painting the tiles on the fireplace does take your eye away from the Tv. I also really liked the TV set up on the easel. Maybe if you made or bought a frame for the tv when it's on the easel you could place it purposefully throughout the room depending on your need/mood at the time. You have some great art pieces. Love the lady with the baskets.
That synergy commentary made me chuckled 😆On another note, bringing the red/burgandy inside was such a good choice. I would have never consider that. The red tile is a little too neat/smooth compared to the terracotta red. Maybe adding a secondary color to create a texture will make the tile and brick look more cohesive. The bookshelf was such a steal! Love how the home is coming together.
The table to the right of the front door (not in front of the window) looks best. And that picture you hung behind the door looks like it was made for that spot! And the little shoe area is the perfect spot and height for the low window. Your videos make me miss the San Diego area. I grew up in North County.
By putting the dark heavy looking chair beside the fireplace and painting the red definitely takes away from the dark looking television. It’s not so obvious. Good job I really like how you talk through your decisions.
You should add a longer mirror above the small table by door The small one is slightly out of balance I love what you did with ur space I’m really liking your videos The use of vintage and thrifted items The warmth and ease of your home really gives me similar vibes to my style so I find you very great for helping me tweak spaces ❤❤❤❤
I love the boldness of the color you painted on fireplace front. You could double down on this by getting a large pottery/ceramic piece and paint it this color. Or paint the front edge of the mantel the same color. Always try to go bigger if you can.
03/27/2024: Absolutely amazing. You have created a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Very friendly and inviting. Love what you did to the fireplace. You know who you are and your space reflects that confidence. Magazine Ready.
I am with you on tvs. I really don't want to look at TVs unless I am using it. Some people put them in armoires, which would be too small for your tv, some get those TVs that you can digitally download a painting on it and hide it that way. I have a 21" tv and I have it inside a black bookcase which makes the tv not noticeable (black on black) till you use it which I love and I have seen someone build a cabinet in front of her's and put a print on the doors so you have art till you open the the doors to see the tv. A simple solution is go to A fabric store and find some tapestry/embroidered material and make a slip cover for it that way you can hide the tv, have art and take the slip cover off when you want to use it.
I think the red around the fireplace looks great and i would definitely leave the reading lamp as it is. The patina is great. There are a couple of things that i would change. I didn't care for the canisters in the bookcase or the shoe rack in the living room... But hey, if you like it that's what matters most. You did a great job all in all!
loved your living room makeover, but this really completes the space. going vertical with the bookshelf is a really smart way to display all your thrifted finds. I also never thought to do a refresh like this in the new year because of how expensive everything is these days but now I'm inspired to change up my apartment!
Thank you! I really want an amazing mid century teak wood console that would fit the whole wall but the price is deterring me lol so this $5 bookcase was an amazing find! Good luck on your refresh! It’s a really satisfying activity haha
To clean the lamp I would suggest bar keepers. It’s kinda like baking soda but it says it cleans brass. I used it on some candlesticks I thrifted and omg it brought back the shine in no time!
Meant to add this in another video where you cleaned up caked on paint on door hardware. I've done refreshes of cabinet hardware using a dremmel with a wire brush. Great for the nooks and crannies and so fun to do. Maybe use a soft wire drill brush to get the rust off the lamp.
I love the bookshelf ..my mom had one just like it, hers was from the early 70's, real wood and forever lasting. I think u should use a dab of brown paint to the burgundy chimney paint to match the tiles. I just love your videos, I get so exited whenever you post a new one, we pretty much have the same style and taste and I also always like to change things around. Now I'm going to be on the hunt for a similar bookshelf because I have lots of old books and vintage artifacts to display...
Thank you so much!🥺❤️ Yes this one is solid wood! I’m so obsessed with it! Also the paint has cured a bit darker since filming, but I think I agree it needs another coat that has some brown or orange mixed in!
You nailed this sister!! LOVE how cozy the space is & all of the warm colors. I think the color on the fireplace is indeed fire!! lol! Little entry way table is perfection in that spot! I know the tv is a drag - but either go for the Frame tv or though you've probably considered this since you got the tripod but an easel might, could be a more artful approach? - but would take up more space... I don't think the tv looks bad over the fireplace but I know you said it bothers your necks to watch so that's the bummer! Hope you are enjoying this space in good health! I sure enjoyed watching it come to life!

The bookshelf was a visual upgrade, the table looks best by the door, it really does complete that area.
Would 💕 that bookshelf! The medieval chair could be great with an up-cycle to un-medieval it😂. Or just add a throw and cushion?
I agree!!!
I like the little table by the door instead of under the window. It is the right size for the small wall.
The small table by the small wall looks very finished and elegant
Thank you!! I love it there 😊
Yes.
I like how you make decorating attainable. Some "designers" make it seem so exhausting, overwhelming and expensive. Wow thanks so much for this! I really appreciate it😍
Your home is lovely and such a refreshing change from the current trend of white on white. I feel like your home shows who you are and that is a great compliment. The fireplace idea was good.
Thank you so much for this! 😊
OMG! You're starting to make me rethink my minimalism. 😂
I love the little table and I think it looks just right by the door. The bookcase was a fabulous find and looks great on that wall. The only thing I'd gently suggest is removing all the kitchen items from it and put them in the kitchen. Great job!
Love the bookcase but I would put the canisters (all 6) back in the kitchen and maybe add some greenery. Great lamps and shades and great curtains.
Thank you!! Haha the canisters were never in the kitchen! lol they are definitely the controversial decision of this video for sure! I really love them for now, they make me happy, and eventually this bookcase will change as I am always changing up my decor! Thank you so much for watching!

Love that book.
I like what you’ve done! But I would delete the gothic chair. It’s redundant with the white chair and also very heavy visually
I didn’t think I’d like the painted fireplace, but it really works! It’s beautiful. The plant in the pot next to it is perfection.
I think the table is great by the door.
You are possibly the best I have seen as far as designing is concerned.
Great job!
I really enjoy your videos. You have a great eye for design and you are very talented. I am a thrift store junkie and have found wonderful items for my home. Thanks for sharing your talent ❤️❤️

I’m new to your channel. I subscribed after watching about 3 videos. As a person who loves to find great deals and ideas you really fit the bill with your content.
LOVE the bright color accenting white fireplace!!
Love your style! It looks so good. Your talent for making seemingly random items work together is amazing! I want to walk around and enjoy every last detail.
haha thank you!
Girl go over the fireplace color with some antique wax. It will make it match the hearth perfectly. Trust me 😊
I have some of that I might try it!
Yes, I was thinking that the fireplace still looks a bit too white to me.
I was also thinking that darker pieces of artwork close to the tv would blend the screen in more. Like actually in the after shots the dark chair kind of takes focus away from the tv.

Bookcase is lovely, it looks kind of Danish Modern. This may sound terrible but I like that reading floor lamp just as is. Wabi Sabi baby! Love the imperfection.
Oh my gosh, I want that multi candle stand!!!
Your style is so warm and easy. A home to be cozy and comfortable.
yea!! I honestly have been living with it and enjoying it!!
aww thank you!!🥰🥰🥰

The skinny table looks great by the door
Your eye for detail is so fantastic. I really love the careful approach of slowly acquiring each piece because you feel it is a work of art. Makes every part of your home special, and not just filled with things you need, but things that you also make you happy.
And also that many of your new items where so cheap and second hand!!
Yes! They’re all things that make me happy and remind me of so many good times😊 Thanks so much for the kind words!
I would guess that your thrifted bookcase is 80's. It's soft and flows between many eras.
The little table fits perfectly in the entryway.
love the combo of spanish/art deco style comboed with the midcentury modern!!
Thank you!’ That’s exactly the eclectic vibe I’m going for 🥰
love the table in that entryway vignette with the mirror way better than at the window :)
yay me too!
Really like your mcm bookshelves with the greenery.
Entry room with s/m wooden bowl for catch alls. super small table. Paint it a beautiful color! Nice refresher! Economical!
The "lip" on the bookshelves is supposed to face down. Its just there to make the shelf look chunkier. Thats an 80s bookshelf and i have one like it.
I like the table by the entry. It covered your landscaping by the window
Your decor looks great, I like how you've used thrifted and vintage pieces but it doesn't look stale. It's layered and beautiful. ❤
Such a lovely room... nice furniture and great colours. Iam struggling with the condition of the walls and ceiling. Mine was the same and I had them plaster skimmed...now super smooth. I think skimming the walls would be of great benefit. 😊

loved your living room makeover, and the vibes , looks cozy and personal
Thank you! I thought about that when we moved in! But I don’t want our backs to the beautiful big window and the front door it feels off for us.
Really like your style and your decor ideas❤
Thank you so much!!
Excellent job with the shelves, the rearranging & fireplace. You have great taste! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for the kind words and hanging out with me!
love your style. and I love that you shared your process of the bookshelf in real time and your decision making.
Thank you so much! Appreciate you hanging out 😊
I would either seperate the canisters or remove some of them. To me, they don't fit in the design. I do love the update!!
Take fine steal wool to get rust out of lamp then either spray paint it. Or rub a buff paint.
Definitely love changing up the lampshades! They look great! Your steamer looks like the one I have, love it! I love that you put a painting in the bookcase, great idea! You have great style!!! 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Love the bookcase and the fire as well
😊Glad to hear! Thank you for watching!
I just love your living room! I’m totally the same about not liking a tv up high or to be a focal point. When I was in my last place I simply placed a painting in front of it💁♀️
I don’t know what it is about you that reminds me of Drew Barrymore! 🌸❣️🌸
Haha dang! I have gotten that ALL my life! But am totally flattered because I think she’s so cute and fun 😊
Yes she does look like Drew😊
Hey! Lampshades made of fabric (good vintage ones) can be washed with water. After vacuuming the dust, Soak in a tub with cold water and presto!
Thank you! I thought about it but I’m just not convinced I want that. Still trying to figure out a more creative approach.
I would leave the little table in the entry way and put a cool bowl to catch your keys center the tall floor lamp in the middle of that window
OMG, so cozy & homey.
I absolutely love the candle holder/sculpture you placed in the bookcase. The bookcase was a great find. You're right, painting the tiles on the fireplace does take your eye away from the Tv. The color on fireplace panels looks great!! Such big improvement from small changes. Great job!!
I think so too! Thank u!
I love that you hung framed pictures up in the bookcase. Something I’ve been wanting to do. I like the look you created so I’ll give it a try. Thanks!
it’s such a vibe!
I like the small table for the entry wall!
yay thank you!!
So glad I found your channel! Love the changes.
Really impressed by your refresh. Liz
Thanks, Liz!!

Love it! The lighting was my favorite.
Yass to the lamp shades. 🎉❤
The bookshelf was a great idea. Love all the light in it!
Thanks so much!

Love the architectural style of home! Don’t love the red on fireplace but feel the part you painted does pop.Nice job
I liked the tv on top of the mantel. Our tv has been hung above our mantel for several years, and we have no neck aches from it.
I like the patina on the lamp, I wouldn't change it.
Love the bookcase and the mid century style! good job!
thank you!!
loved your living room makeover, but this really completes the space. going vertical with the bookshelf is a really smart way to display all your thrifted finds.
The 'medieval' chair would look much better without the pointy tops on the back. I love it.
Ah yes, and I sold it haha
Definitely love the height of the bookcase and love the fireplace pop of red!
Thank you!!
i love your style so much
Great idea about the hearth! It really distracts from the TV. You are a natural LK👩🏻🦳🐾🎄🥰‼️
I like the table in the “entryway “ area
Wow awww nice! Even if you don't keep the exact color of the fireplace, painting it is so cool. Great job on the bookcase. Your style is great!
Thanks so much! 😊
To clean the lamp I would suggest bar keepers. It’s kinda like baking soda but it says it cleans brass. I used it on some candlesticks I thrifted and omg it brought back the shine in no time!
I love bar keepers! I’ll try it!
I hope you keep the old chair. It has so much character and open front small table DEFINITELY to the right of the entry door. It’s perfect there!!
Consider swapping clear lightbulbs for frosted. You won't get the shadows from the shade's wires frame.
interesting! nice tip! weirdly I am using frosted bulbs except for the one in the brass lamp
Morning! New subscriber from Boston! Love your refresh and am looking at some of your previous videos...your style is my style!😊❤
Hii!! 👋 Thank you so much! ❤ Welcome!
I love it all! I really like the candle holder at 18:42. Totally my style
I absolutely love your style, pure perfection! So inviting and cozy.
So sweet thank you!!😍🥹
love the way you dressed the bookcase!! great job !!
😊Thank you!
The white chair looks best in the corner!
I like what you’ve done I think the paint that you did looks perfect. You’ve got a knack for design. Trust yourself.
This is so sweet thank you!
Good job, and I was thinking about lights for my bookcase, just today! Thank you 😊
Perfect! I am SO obsessed with it - makes such an impact!
Love the bookcase. Love the paint on the fireplace.
Fireplace looks amazing!
Thank you so much!🥺❤️ Yes this one is solid wood! I’m so obsessed with it! Also the paint has cured a bit darker since filming, but I think I agree it needs another coat that has some brown or orange mixed in!

Love the fire place....your refresh is so good!
Aw thank you!!
And that’s beautiful ❤
Love your your designs! I love that you don’t have to spend $1 million to make it look like $1 million!😍
Right?! Haha I agree! I love buying and spending don't get me wrong but if we can save why not save?!
You nailed this sister!! LOVE how cozy the space is & all of the warm colors. I think the color on the fireplace is indeed fire!! lol! Little entry way table is perfection in that spot!
