I currently own a 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Platinum and I bought it over the palisade for the fuel economy numbers. I also own a 2023 Acura RDX A-Spec. My biggest quam with the MDX is the mid-row leg room. it is smaller than both my Highlander and RDX. however, when it comes down to a battle between a Palisade and MDX I would take the MDX for 3 reasons. 1. resale 2. reliability 3. driving dynamics when pushed.
    thanks for the review, appreciated.

I expected it to be close, that is until you get to pricing. If you're the sole driver with scenic roads that allow for spirited driving, then the MDX is for you. However, if you want to maximize comfort especially over longer trips with the rest of the family and still be able to bring your stuff without using the roof rack, then the Palisade is for you. You'll probably have to wait a couple months until the more stock is available because of out of control pricing at some dealers.
Sometimes I just don't get what's the hurry of snatching up new vehicles even before they come of the car carrier.

I bought a 23 advance…2 things I liked better was the fun driving and the audio system…2nd best I heard …McIntosh in the grand Cherokee was the best compared to others but not fun to drive …rx350,qx60, escape, Cherokee, rdx , palisade, telluride, pilot and mdx tested…the mdx is so fun driving in the rockies…it drives like a sedan. Driving a canyon road it moves up to 70% torque to rear then can give the outside wheel 100% of that ..amazes me how it hugs the canyon roads while listening to one of the best sounding audio systems.

I wish it had power folding mirrors and power adjustable pedals that my truck from 09 and my van from 13 had. Other option was another minivan with 4 kids but only wanted the Sienna AWD which is damn near impossible to get without ordering, being $65k and playing the waiting game. Hello gentlemen. Before I continue on any further, I'm glad that you guys were safe based on the recent flooding that took place in your state of KY two or three weeks ago. I'm not sure if your area got affected or not, but I'm glad you guys, relatives and friends are safe.
This was a good comparison video between the Acura MDX and the Hyundai Palisade. Both vehicles offer some nice features. In terms of the difference in points that was a big difference between the two. At the start of the video I was under the impression the difference would be by three or four full points, but it turned out to be a difference of eight full points. That's a lot. What I wanted to suggest in upcoming videos would be to include two more aspects of vehicles to test out. Those two would be the turning radius and braking performance. A vehicle with a tighter turning radius would help get the driver out of a sticky situation a lot quicker (to do a u turn or to get out of a tight parking space between two vehicles). As for braking performance which vehicle has greater stopping power when going from 60 MPH to 0. Obviously, the vehicle that stops from that speed at a shorter distance would be the better performer. That would be nice if those two aspects would be included in upcoming individual vehicle videos and comparison videos. In future comparison videos it would be nice to see the Hyundai Palisade in the Calligraphy trim going up against the Infiniti QX60 in the Autograph trim. Other comparison videos of interest would be the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Summit Reserve trim against the Hyundai Palisade in the Calligraphy trim, Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Summit Reserve trim going up against the Infiniti QX60 in the Autograph trim or to go up against the Acura MDX in the Advance trim. Comparisons like these would be nice to see since these vehicles are new generation vehicles.

@@CarConfections You're welcome. Glad your area wasn't affected by the flooding. I assume you guys probably live in the northern region of KY for the flooding not reaching there. Testing the braking performance and the turning radius of vehicles would be two nice additions to your videos. I hope they'll be put into effect due to the fact that some buyers take them into consideration before buying whichever vehicle it is.

One of my favorite review points of any and all cars is the regards to the touch or non-touch infotainment. Trust me, it is not me as I’ve watched hundreds of videos. The negative thing pointed out by reviewers on touchscreens is that you have to lean forward and be distracted to touch it when it doesn’t have touch it’s reviewed for not having touch and being lesser for some reason. The attempt by any manufacturer to use an alternative to the touch, was listed on the NTSB as a safety distraction when touching the screen while in motion. I don’t have the source to post, but I remember it saying something about the leaning forward to reach the screen is a distraction.

Look at other surveys of Acura/Honda quality, reliability over 10 years, trade-in aspect, and many issues with Hyundai engines over the years. Honda/Acura makes the best transmissions and engines for many, many decades. I bought the 22' MDX and I love everything about it except the pad tech aspect, but you do get used to it! I can carry easy 25 cases of my books to deliver to retailers all over the state and it is a joy to drive. When I say carry, I mean just the back row is down. My wife and I love the tech and it for sure looks great and gets lots of looks and questions everywhere. I have an issue with that huge grill on the Palisade, as it looks as bad as the Dodge Rams, like a whale coming at you. I put already 20,000 trouble free miles and will for sure consider buying perhaps the RDX for my wife this summer or fall, however the new Honda CRV is getting rave reviews on every driver channel. She may like it even better, at least maybe there will be some selection later this summer! I drove the Palisade, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Range Rover and the last four mentioned eat you alive after the warranty runs out with huge bills and they are money pits according to many car surveys and Consumer Reports too! The best brands from most reliable car surveys are still Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura. I drove the Genesis too and it does have some good points, but it still is a bit of a new comer to judge long term reliability. Time will tell! By the way, it says inside the gas cap, regular gas is approved for the MDX/Acura and I have used regular gas for 20,000 miles and get over 25 MPG with a big seven passenger and that is just fine for now. Would consider a plug-in hybrid later, but as we travel all over the country and our level 2 charging is not there yet, but the new design for the MDX/Acura EV sure looks sexy and Curt and others on reviews are most excited about the next generation. Battery tech too is changing and perhaps we may see one day over 1,000 miles on a charge and many, thousands of charges and most importantly charging that does not require stopping at a motel on a trip, as charging stations are booked. Would be nice, but then again there is a lot of issues with the power generation to produce that energy and the power grid may go kaput if we ever get to even a third the population charging overnight, just look at what happened to California last summer, as the governor said not to charge your EV at night or even during the day, as they were concerned about those many fires from power lines. Love the MDX and it saved our lives two times already with the self-driving modes, etc.

These two are perhaps the most compelling large 3 row entrants below the big full-size class. You can't overlook the value of the Palisade IF it sold at its MSRP, but it does not in most areas(I'll address that below). From the anti-fatigue driver's seat, to the use of materials, to the well-designed cabin in features and space, the Palisade makes a very excellent case for high consideration in the class. As for the MDX, it is no secret as to why it is the top seller in the 3row lux class. Yes it is thousands less than the Germans, and more compelling than the Cadillac offering(though the Aviator is really nice). The solid performance for the J-Series V6, quality construction inside and out, the SH-AWD system that amps up driving performance, the amazing quality of thr ELS sound system, and better dealership experience is why one would pay the premium over the Hyundai.
Speaking of which, Caligraphy trims in my area are routinely going $60K, which greatly detracts from the "values argument of the Palisade. Yes, it does have the features missing from vehicles costing the same, but buyers of that league simply don't care.
Acura needs to add touchscreen ability to the MDX, and Hyundai needs power-folding mirrors from the Telluride and wireless AA/AC pronto!

I would have given the MDX a little more credit for not just luxury and prestige, but also they have a relatively proven track record of being reliable. Hyundai still has the jury out on it. Both are nice vehicles, but I can't justify the substantially higher price for the MDX. I've driven both - the MDX has a better driving experience - it has more linear power delivery and smoother transmission than the Palisade which tends to hesitate at launch in Comfort mode; however, most American drivers don't care about that. In this class, they want value for their money and efficiency in room and space. They want to know that they can put their whole family in the vehicle and be comfortable. The Palisade is eerily quiet on the road for a Hyundai product and just 'easy' to drive day to day, whereas the MDX feels more cumbersome to get in and out of. The MDX is a nice ride, but in my mind, the Palisade gets the nod for value for the money.

Sure, anyone is more than welcome to pay 12K for an MDX or any other luxury make, and enjoy it. I readily admitted - the power delivery in the MDX is 'better'- but... is it worth 12K more? Would love to see you add the 'missing piece' of the electronics performance, that is the highway drive assist, how much intervention is required, how well it tracks the highway. One would expect the more expensive to do better but I have not found this to be the case, so the only way to find out is to show it as part of your road test. Palisade all the way! More bang for the buck!

I own a ‘22 MDX ASpec, while I’m biased, I appreciate the features the palisade has such as the massaging seats, and the rear view mirror camera. It has a great looking interior plus rear cooling seats. I think overall the mdx looks more refined on the interior and exterior. I never thought I’d say it, but I wish Acura would move forward with touch screen and ditch the 1:1 touch pad. Both are great vehicles, I enjoyed the comparison.

How is the AC in your MDX? I heard it's not very good.

@@CoralSea I’m in south Texas, so the AC is on the highest setting most of the year. It takes a couple of minutes for the air to blow cold and not just cool. I do wish more air was produced for the driver and front passenger however. The AC in the second row seating is phenomenal blows cold and there is plenty of it.

You left out the convenience factor of being able to park the MDX in the garage whereas the Hyundai at this moment needs to be parked away from the house for the recall of the vehicle catching fire. MDX for me. 🔥🔥🔥
