A truck is a family hauler too "bro" and is still slow compared to sports cars, even modified ones unless they're pushing over 1000hp, but then a 1000hp car would kick it's ass again because weight matters in a race. I guess you've never heard of the GMC typhoon suv though or the lambo or porshe or aston Martin or jaguar or Alfa Romeo that would all put cars to shame up to 150mph when the aerodynamics take over and the car can finally catch up

my 2011 MDX-SH-AWD is 300 HP and 270 torque, plenty of muscle to move a family and luggage around on trips to NYC and Florida . Can handle any weather and yes it does feel faster than it actually is due to size and weight. very reliable car and since its an acura it holds value.

This was a good mid-size 3rd row seating SUV drag race between the Acura MDX and the Kia Telluride. What the MDX has up its sleeve is the 10 speed automatic transmission, a more aerodynamic design and is slightly lighter in weight. More drag race videos with third row seating mid-size SUVs needs to be done due to the fact that since more than a few years ago until now SUVs are selling well. Also, since 2019 until now sales of SUVs outsold cars by a wide margin. Drag race videos with full size SUVs would be a good addition as well. That'll make things interesting. 👍👍

@@AFCompany Nowadays the Japanese are resting on their laurels. MDX is not in the luxury league IMHO. The Genesis GV80 3.5 T Prestige(Canada, 3 rows) is if you want to compare by the standards of the industry. For the current offer, the MDX plays more in Telluride territory and the latter punches way above its designed weight... As for the look, the Telluride outshines the MDX. Moreover, please read the driving aids spec sheets of the T-Ride ; the MDX is not even yet there. T-Ride shares ALL the driving aids of the GV80 except the 3D instruments cluster and the road monitoring adaptive suspension. Also does the MDX has REAR heated/ventilated seats and factory Rear entertainment as the T-Ride? Too little too late for the MDX 2022 !

Did you watch the same runs we all did?

    • @OlJackBurton
      @OlJackBurton 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@chrisholmes344 The MDX gripped better in every run from a stop. They didn't look like they were being launched with a foot of roll out, but just stepping on the gas. But in sport mode (the performance mode), the KIA made up the difference resulting in near ties at the finish. The times would be the same to the tenth of a second. In a real world highway situation, the Kia would walk from the Acura. The MDX did seem to have a better manual mode (at least a faster shifting manual mode), although it was still fairly close at the end, maybe 1 or 2 tenths of a second. In other words, the Telluride seems to make more power than on paper than the MDX does; it just had a harder time putting it down. The MDX definitely has a better 0-60 time from a stop, probably almost half a second. From a stop light "race", the MDX would win, but how many people actually launch their SUVs from a light? Then again how many people race to about 90+ mph (quarter mile) in the real world? Also, the tires can make a big difference.
Runs 1 and 2: normal mode from stop. MDX wins by about two lengths the first run and one length the second.
Runs 3 and 4: sport mode from stop. Both cars are within a nose of each other for both runs.
Runs 5 and 6: sport mode from roll. Kia wins first run by about two lengths, Acura wins the second by about a quarter length. Probably affected by reaction time.
Runs 7 and 8: sport mode from roll with manual from first gear. Kia wins both by about two lengths.
Run 9: sport mode from stop in manual. MDX wins by about half a length.
Kia has 3 clear wins by about two lengths. Acura has 3 clear wins by about two lengths, one length and a a half length respectively and one win by a quarter length, only clearly gapping the Kia once. The other 2 runs were virtual ties...

You want to make sure you are buying a car that can handle luggage, family, inclement weather and given the SH-AWD, I can attest to having witnessed getting me out of trouble in situation which I couldn't have reacted so quickly to the situation. the MDX is already a 4500lb car, once loaded you got to have torque and HP to move and tow. I own a 2011 mdx, base model with SHAW. It is not until you are in a dangerous road situation, that you learn to appreciate SHAWD, i have been in situation where if the SHAWD was not offered, i am sure i would have lost control and crashed, trust me my car had 7 passengers, snow and ice in the road and i was able to avoid loosing control of my car and avoided hitting the car next to me.

I'm a proud owner of a 2021 Telluride SX AWD Gravity Gray Nightfall/prestige packages.
It is very quick on the highway. Takes off slow without a doubt but on the highway it jumps from 70 to 100 very quickly.
I was surprised at how quickly it did so. I didn't buy the car for speed but the acceleration on the highway pleases me.
As for looks Telluride blows the Acura away IMO.
The interior and all the bells and whistles are better on the Telluride.
The kids absolutely love the mid row AC/heated seats, all the usb ports and the room when in the 3rd row.
They also love the privacy provided by the mid row window screens.
The Telluride is well worth the money and I'm glad I waited on the factory ordered ride.
As a bonus, while I can't touch 😪, women absolutely love this vehicle. They have a keen sense of this vehicle costed lots of 💰 and are opening convo with me everywhere I go.
First comment is, I love your car. Most of them probably have zero clue it's a Kia and just like the way it looks.
The moon roof and sun roof work great, the heads up display is phenomenal.
The driver assist driving for you on the highway is very nice. Only downside of that is people can cause your car to hit the breaks relatively hard if someone cuts right in front of you while your smart Cruising at 80 MPH.
The camera are awesome. Love the blind side views and drone view.
This car was a steal for the 💰 I paid.
Everyone has their own tastes so it is what it is.
My new Telluride is catching everyone eye. My bank tellers ask me what the color is everytime I go in there. They completely forget they're supposed to be helping me.

We have a 22 telluride, same trim exactly and while it's a great vehicle, I definitely don't think the passing power (70-100) is fast at all. To be honest, my primary issue with the vehicle is the passing power, I think it actually does well off the line, up to about 40 and then hits a wall in a really tall gear. When passing, the transmission doesn't react fast enough and it definitely feels like it's working hard to get up to speed.
