I was really interested in the Cx90 but the dealer marked up the $59000 MSRP to $73,000 while the Acura dealer discounted the $65,000 MSRP to $62,000. Needless to say I bought the Acura MDX and love it. And, I was a previous CX 9 owner.

It's all about the driving dynamics vs cost. Name plate isn't a concern for me vs the wife..she loves her Q5 but we need more room and this is closer in size to Q7 without the price tag. I just need to blind fold her as we pull into the dealership, tape all the Mazda emblems and let her drive it. Mazda for me all day long. Mazda did a great job and put a lil Zoom Zoom in this model.

My personal opinion, the 3.3 regular Turbo (non "S"), still has more torque and only 11 less HP. The Premium Plus trim of this "de-tuned" version offers a very similar and favorable comparison to the MDX Advance, at around $56k. So the value proposition is even greater. 2 years ago, I test drove the new MDX. I previously owned a 2013. The MDX just didn't "feel" good to me. The interior was ok but so busy with too many plasticky controls and piano black accents. I felt like I was in a video game console. I then drove a Mazda CX-9. Even with the 2.5 liter turbo 4, it puts out 320 lb-ft of torque and drives so much better than the MDX. It was night and day for me. The Mazda interior can be described as simply elegant. It feels premium without any of the tackiness I see in some of the luxury brands. The fact that the Grand Touring CX-9 was $45k, compared to the MDX tech package at $58k, and the decision was a no brainer to me. When I am finished with my CX-9, I will go straight to a new CX-90. But everyone has their own opinion, and that is perfectly fine.

Just bought our CX-90 and absolutely love it. Some people complain about the price compared to Hyundai/Kia. I looked at all 3 in my market.... All Palisades I looked at would only sell at MSRP and Kia dealers were adding $2-5,000 on top of MSRP for Tellurides ("market adjustment" LOL - SEE YA KIA) Mazda CX-90 not only sold for $1500 under MSRP... on top of that you can get 0.9% or 1.9% financing from Mazda depending what trim you go with. If you weigh everything, especially if you are one of us 'common folk' who need to finance cars, you really can't beat the Mazda CX-90

    Love your channel.
I currently have a 2020 Mazda CX-9 Signature, which I love and love driving. Prior to the Mazda I had a 2016 Acura MDX Advanced, which I was mostly lukewarm about. Very nice interior, great sound system, but the engine and transmission combination did not work very well. I would frequently have one to two second response delays when I punched the accelerator which, of course, can be very dangerous if you’re moving out into traffic. Also, the CarPlay interaction was spotty at best. You would be driving along and then all of the sudden the connection was lost. When I first complained about it, they all at the dealership could not help me. I kept asking and finally someone told me it was a known problem with that there was no solution. After the experience with the Acura, I am of the belief that Acura is not at the same level as Lexus and the German manufacturers. Acura to me, is a near luxury brand, which makes your comparo even more interesting. Of course, since Acura added the touchpad, that would make the car more of a dead on arrival for me.

@@kenns15 The Mazda app is very glitchy and slow so remote start is very spotty compared to our Atlas. The Atlas had remote start off the key fob so it was fool proof. There is no lock/unlock feature (easy access) on the doors for the back seat so you have to open the front seat to unlock the back seat (or dig in the pocket for the key fob). The passage between the two mid-row captain seats is very narrow. Luckily our 9 year old son is still small enough to crawl back there but it was tough when I tried. Im going Mazda all the way. Despite them being similar in almost every category, i do like the powertrain setup of the Mazda better and then on top of that you have the option of 2 other engines if you dont like a certain engine choice. Not to mention you have the option of having FWD, AWD or RWD if i’m not mistaken. You get the best of all worlds. I do like how Mazda used a native cloth and wood in areas that’ll more likely catch dust. Thats something brands need to take note of ESPECIALLY AUDI. Gloss black isn’t a resolution to every part of the vehicle. The designs are pretty much equal imo though you can recognize the Mazdas sporty intentions.

Part of everything you want and need is what speaks to your personal style. All seem to be good vehicles but for me the CX90 is too bubbly. I like the sharper lines of the MDX and that's a personal taste. Actually, I prefer the exterior look of the CX9 to the CX90 because of the front, there is a more sharply defined angular line. But you couldn't go wrong with any of these. For me, a small detail makes a difference. I was buying an SUV for my wife. She was content with the RDX, but I didn't like the rear lights. I told her i don't want her backside looking like that going down the street. So for me it was worth paying the difference in getting the MDX over something I didn't like...something as simple as the tail lights cost me near $20,000. But it was worth it

I wish Mazda would have used more sound insulation as well as a better wireless charging pad. I would have rated the Mazda with a Perfect 10 had the sound insulation been better and the wireless charging pad been better. We are a phone crazed society, so Mazda really dropped the ball in the wireless charging area.

Gents, your side by side comparison is one of the BEST I've seen. Detailed. Concise. Fair. Next time include the actual gas mileage advantage. Mazda for me. I've had 3 BMWs, and love the "tight" road feel (but BMW electronics and pricing are a fatal thumbs down by comparison). Have 2 Mazdas in the family and they are reliably bullet-proof; one with well over 250k miles. MDX interior is far too 'cluttered" and needs a major upgrade to compete with luxury trend toward "clean line elegance" w/o piano gloss. Mazda kicked it out of the park in this design category. Both mfgs produce quality vehicles. But Mazda has now pulled ahead IMO.
