  • This is a quick review over the features and functions of a 2021 Honda Insight EX. If you've already purchased one, or considering it this will give you a refresher of what the car has to offer. We will go over the exterior and interior features and functions and the follow it up with a test drive. On the drive I will go over what you gain going up to the Touring, how the safety features work, and the overall ride quality.

    Absolutely the BEST review of the Honda Insight I can find. This video should be included with all purchases, as you accurately and completely identify every single feature, describe how to use each feature, and show the feedback the car gives you when you select the options for those features! Everyone should know how to use this car after watching this video. Congratulations on perfection!

    Finally somebody goes in detail about all the switches and settings on the dash as far as the computer goes. I appreciate all the inns and outs that you share with everybody that have not yet been able to use the new computer systems lane assist and so forth. Great job thank you for your help/review

    Great job on the review Justin! The traffic around you in the video is like my area! So few people can actually drive a car correctly, and safety. I love that you are so used to it; you don't even notice.

    Owned a not-so-wonderful 2010 Insight that convinced me to move to a Mazda 3. Love the little Mazda, but want a Hybrid again, so I've been reading about/watching TH-cams about the 2021 Insight. I'm not a car geek---just someone who wants a dependable, fuel-efficient, easy-to-park car that's not too hard to look at. Your incredibly info-chocked video has really helped me choose what is right for me.The EX is perfectly fine, and I can do without the Touring's extra bells and whistles; but I'm a sucker for leather seats! So Touring, here I come! Thank you, Justin, for making my selection so easy and in such an entertaining way!

    I have a 2020 EX, 7k miles into it, no regrets. Awesome value for a budget-minded hybrid. The the extra $ wasn't worth it for the Touring trim, for me. Seems like the only significant difference between the '20 and the new '21 is there is now a Blind Spot alert , replacing the standard Lane Watch camera. If anyone has any questions regarding the ride and fuel economy, or whatever, ask away, I love talking about this car.

    • @ralphgedeon9018
      @ralphgedeon9018 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      7K in, what kind MPG are you getting? Are you getting close to the 52 combined MPG (55 hwy/49 city) as advertised?
      Any minor things/issues that a buyer might not think of that you have come across since your purchase? Any changes big or small you would recommend to Honda to make it better? One Change that I would recommend is power seats for at least the driver in the EX model.
      Thanks for your reply in advance as I'm looking at purchasing a Honda Insight. Still doing my homework!

    • @alf6633
      @alf6633 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ralphgedeon9018 Average wise, for me, yes I do get the advertised MPG, but thats a very general statement - the MPG you get depends on a lot of factors. For example, if its cold, the motor will be initially on longer to warm things up...or driving inclines will use gas motor a LOT more than flat or obviously downhill. This car MPG excels in long traffic commuting, warm climate. I live in Southern Cali, and my commute home is 24 miles, no hills, mostly traffic, 80% on highway....and with extreme hypermiling techniques, my record is 93 MPG for that commute. Crazy. I do wish I had leather seats, and power seats, but value-wise, I'm not regretting the thousands I saved between EX and Touring. At some point, the cost doesnt make sense in relation to the gas savings, so for me, the Touring cost was too high. At the end of the day, its a budget hybrid sedan, and the EX price still keeps it "budget" with lots of value.

    Wow, excellent/thorough "operational" review. You obviously know this vehicle and explain the features very clearly except for the location of the radar sensing device. Honda should make a tile button on the cars video display screen that plays this TH-cam video. Thank you Justin!

    Justin, my girlfriend bought a very well maintained 2021 Honda Insight. Everything on the car is perfectly sorted except we have noticed a few things and im curious if you felt this on your test drive.
    When the motor cold starts in the morning theres almost a grinding noise, similar to that of a mazda 3 on start up. It goes away after the car warms up, but the idle is very slightly rough, almost like a misfire, but it isnt and we arent sure if thats the hybrid system charging the battery or if thats normal. I only really feel it at idle and at speed or on the throttle its buttery smooth.
    I personally own 2 hybrids which are a Highlander Hybrid and an Escape hybrid, both of which the idle gets a slight bit rough when the motor kicks on at first and they are charging the battery with the ICE motor. Im just not sure if this car behaves the same.
    We also took it to a shop for a PPI prior and it checked out as perfect mechanically as it could be. Just cosmetic things here and there.
    Thanks!

    i have a stupid question lol. on the digital dash, what does the blue mean, and the blue "power bar" under it? and then does that meter go into the charge meter? just confused on what that is and does vs the battery indicator on the far left side of the dash

    • @isaacturner199
      @isaacturner199 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The more you're "pushing" the car, the further up that meter it goes. When you're braking or driving "efficiently/slowly" it's in the green charging the battery. The further away it goes, the less you're charging or not charging at all I guess. It's like the least gas and battery efficient.

    I got to test drive this car and I really liked it, but the one thing I'm hung up on is the speedometer. I prefer a digital one to the needle gauge and I was wondering (is there a way to or how would I) switch it or pull up a digital speedometer? The guy at the dealership said there was a way but I was never shown how.

    Front seats are too low. My mom was going to buy one today but it’s a deal breaker. HONDA make your seats default position higher or a factory kit to raise them, especially the passenger side. Many many people complain to n forums about this.

    • @JustinFullerReviews
      @JustinFullerReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a Honda HR-V or CR_V would be a better option. If you want a hybrid Honda offers a CR-V Hybrid, and getting into it is easy for those with bad, knees, back, etc.

    • @brykidla
      @brykidla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Fuller it’s not a knees/back thing. She is too short. She has 2003 and the seats are a decent height. The 2021 insight makes it feel like is is a kid trying to look up and over the dashboard.

    Blind spot monitoring on a Honda Civic is completely ridiculous. How about drivers learning to turn their head to the left or to the right. This isn't something that would be needed on any sedan. And if you do need it you probably shouldn't have a driver's license. Where is the tachometer? Seems like that would be more valuable than knowing where the power is going. You can't see where the power is going and you probably can't feel where the power is going but knowing how high the engine is revving would be valuable.

    • @JustinFullerReviews
      @JustinFullerReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don't think any features that improves safety is ridiculous. But I do agree a driver should check the blind spot when they can. These safety features are for support, not to be a crutch... I believe that is the focus of having something like blind spot monitoring.

    • @cappy1223
      @cappy1223 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This car doesn't need a tach. You aren't looking for rpms out of your engine, you're looking for "flow". Am I using the battery to power the drive, the engine to power the drive, or am I recharging the battery using regen or engine.

    • @gregg2475
      @gregg2475 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Going on a test drive of this car soon. One of the reasons I am straying from a new Mazda 3 is the shrinking of the rear door windows and the rear windshield. I am very upset that so many car designs in this style/size are reducing the visibility and relying on sensors to compensate. I hope that is not the case with the Insight EX.
