    Nice foot massage. Time is always a factor. Use it wisely. How about working the low back and glutes, Cold packs to low back and upper pelvis if severe pain. Is it a disc issue or piriformis issue? Activate the glutes more. Stop sitting for so long. Hinge into hip extension, although might be painful. Work on the lateral rotator leg muscles. Hip rotational stretches. Percussion gun work on the piriformis. Pure wave gun works great. Cross fiber friction around the greater trocanter with hip laterally flexed. Clam shells with a resistance band. Sumo squats with a resistance band. Light air squats. Pigeon pose, lunges, so many ways for self care. Firm quad and hamstring massages.

      Meh. I understand the philosophy, but unless you see signs of inhibited blood flow, you don’t have much of a pooling issue. Try it on yourself: if you continuously move strokes from foot to calf without warming up upper thigh, what happens? Do you get blood pooling behind your knee? Try it for 30 min. Still nothing? Drainage isn’t an issue unless you already know its an issue. Lymph doesn’t move much at this pressure level either. It really isn’t therapeutically significant unless you have a venous return problem.
      But also, it doesn’t hurt to do it your way!

    Hello, and greetings, This video isn't bad, but it's leaving out a fair bit, I'll attempt to fill in the blanks. Sciatica is a nerve impingement along the pathway of the sciatic nerve, which travels down the entire length of the posterior leg. The video is okay, they are teaching a safer approach to this by treating the entire leg, instead of using tests to pinpoint where exactly it's happening. The video is correct in terms of warming up the tissue before deeper treatment, this is done more easily by maintaining a smooth, fluid, and, rhythmical movement over the tissue which will calm down the nervous system and allow the patient to become familiar and comfortable with your touch (NOTE: Try not to remove both hands from the patient at any time, if they don't know where you are they can become nervous or tense in response). Also try not to apply pressure to popliteal fossa (back of the knee) as it tends to be quite tender, and arteries, veins, and nerves run quite superficially there (NOTE: when your stoke glides over popliteal fossa, simply decrease pressure, and once past it apply pressure again to the tissue). I am not a fan of the draping at all, I'd highly suggest tucking the draping in so that you don't move it during treatment, and maintain modesty and comfort. I also did not like the stroke going under the draping, NEVER let hands go under draping, that is a no no. Side note, if you are manipulating the patient's limbs, make sure to take the weight of the limb, don't let the patient move the limb for you as that will get the muscles to contract and cause them to tense up again. If you have any questions then comment.

      @youjungsuh6694 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. Maybe the video's title needs to be corrected as to warm up technique before treating sciatica as this didn't really addressed anywhere near the sciatic region.

      I say work the Hips and gluten down the hamstring to the calve to feet and get blood flow through out the leg then go deeper into the large glute area down to a comfortable level for your client. Once your client if relaxed enough, work slowly into the SI joint to release the muscle. Try to release all the muscles around the piriformis. The feet should come towards the end.
