    What is amazing about this song is that it is live.....flawless voice and total control of everything in this song. Never heard anything like it before or since....This was a guy with once in a lifetime talent. He wasn't called "blue eyed soul" for no reason.....an incredible voice.

  • @ingridclare7411

    This is the Holy Grail of this song. No one can get near it or ever will. God, he was gorgeous. He'd done 4 years in the navy before this in the Naval Airmen. He was only 25 when he sang on Andy Williams show above. As good as a career in the navy can be ( my 3 bros and father were all longterm navy servicemen in Australia) Bobby did the right thing by using his gift of voice and sing for the world.

      Ingrid, Bobbÿwas not in the navy. Must have been another with same name.

      How can it be?? He starts singing with bill in 1962 . How could he be
      for four years in the navy? He was born in 1940. From GER.

    Awww...the late great Bobby Hatfield. I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. This is his song!!! No auto tune just pure raw talent! RIP Bobby! We miss you. ❤🙏❤

    This performance is just perfectlion. And I don’t think any live performance will ever come close to it again. Because now they have autotune. Before it was just his voice, his vocal, which was stunning.

    Bobby Hatfield was a natural born true countertenor which is so rare it's considered by many to be only 1 to a generation (the current internationally recognized countertenor is Mitch Grasse of Pentatonix). Bill Medley is a deep baritone. The Righteous Brothers were part of what is referred to as blue-eyed soul. Check out Bill performing "I Just Wanna Make Love to You" to have your mind blown. They always performed individually and together on all the albums. Two of their most famous joint songs "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "Soul and Inspiration".

    Unchained Melody, was written about a man in prison who missed his lover and wondered whether she would still be his by the time he was released from prison. So it’s full of desperate longing and other strong emotions. One of the things that makes this performance even more amazing is Bobby's Live Performance! No one sings this song like he did! Imo. He made it look so easy! Watch his face..he doesn't have to strain to hit those notes at all!!!

    What's really cool about their name is, they hadn't got a band name for them yet, and they were performing at a military installation in the 60's, and when they were done, their were some African Americans in the crowd and they were saying out loud " That Was Righteous Brothers! They took that comment and became The Righteous Brothers! Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield! Bobby was singing this particular song. We lost him in 2003. Bobby's voice is high, and Bill's voice is low. Check out You've Lost That Loving Feeling, where they both are singing.♥️✌️

    His mother was in the audience when he sang this song live...no autotone, gimmicks...just pure God-given talent! The 60s produced The Righteous Brothers, The Beatles,, The Rolling Stones, Roy Orbison, Elvis, The Temptations and many, many more of the greatest talents in music history. I was a teenager at this time...I grew up on the best music ever produced and I knew it at the time that nothing will ever "top it"! Still feel like I was right...then, Whitney Houston arrived on the scene. She is one of the greatest also.

    I heard in an interview that black DJs named him "blue-eyed soul." They said it was the black DJs who first started playing the Righteous Brothers and they were one of the first crossover between black and white stations. Kind of opened the doors for others. If you want to hear how much soul he can have, his version of Summertime is arguably the best ever!

    THIS WAS ACTUALLY THE b B SIDE OF THE RECORD. THE A SIDE WHERE THEY BOTH SANG THEY THOUGHT WAS THE HIT. I NEVER HEARD THE A SIDE IT WENT NO WHERE. SO ANY WAY ON THE B SIDE THE OTHER BROTHER DID NOT THINK IT WAS GOING TO BE A HIT SO HE SAT OUT. BOY WAS HE WRONG

    • @zanhar7688
      @zanhar7688 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bobby sang this alone because it was a solo… that comment was just some stage play. Bill produced the original recording and played piano on it, and it was intended as an album cut, not a single. Phil Specter put it on the B side of ‘Hung on You’, which charted at #45, because he considered it a throwaway….. just chance the deejays started playing the flip side and we have a classic….
