  • As we head North to Punda Maria Camp, I come across an early glimpse of a LEOPARD, keenly checking out a small herd of Waterbuck. The self-drive safari continues past Red Rocks, and past Shingwedzi, after which I run into not one, but two herds of ELEPHANT. After finally making it to camp, and heading out for the sunset drive, what starts out as quite ordinary from a sightings perspective, culminates into an amazing LEOPARD and BUFFALO sighting. I spend about 30 minutes with this beautiful leopard before having to head back to camp before the gate closes. This, is another magical day in the Kruger Park.

      Yes I saw Kruger for the first time in 1946, being 2 years old!
      Have been visiting Park ever since, did walking tours as well. Even slept at Afsaal once with worker! And had many expierances ie meeting live leopard in BergnDal in camp..... I can write a book. I now live in George but plan to visit Park maybe during May. Keep well and continue trips to Kruger Park 🦓😁

    The leopard wants some beef haha. A young one. It's so nice to watch them grow dominant... Cool film and music selection! There are many leopards in Sabi Sands btw. I'm a fan of it. Africa is so faaar away from me... Maybe some day I will come.

    The Northern Kruger Park has better Birds than the south year around. Tsendze Camp is the Best camp to view Owls in. The North has the most Mega Herds of Buffalo (Over 1000 or more per herd). Mopani area is home to Krugers Largest Tuskers including the Top 3. The North is home to the largest Pride of Lions in Kruger (The Boyela Pride found often between Sirheni Camp and Boyela Windmill. The North is the only Region in Kruger where Antelope such as Suni, Sharpe's Grysbok , Roan Antelope, Lichtensteins Hartebeest, Tssessebe and Eland are found. The 7 Kms between Tsendze and Mopani Camps is home to at least 7 x female leopards..etc etc my typing finger is tired now

    • @graemecumming
      @graemecumming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, so true Peter. Most people I’ve spoken to always advise to spend time in the south if you want to see everything. I was blown away by the north. Granted, probably no rhino up there, but the Ellie’s, Buffs, Leopard, birds - definitely worth including the North in your itinerary if you can.

    Shingwedzi has always been my favourite camp, but September this year was the first time I went all the way to the Pafuri Picnic spot and to Crook's Corner. I saw more Nyala, Kudu and Giraffe up there than Impala which felt weird :)

    • @graemecumming
      @graemecumming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Charl - Shingwedzi is also a firm favourite of mine - its usually quieter, and has some beautiful dirt roads up and down the river sections, which always yield good sightings. But as you say, the north is packed with other animals, and definitely offers its own unique experience. Like you, I saw plenty of Nyala, Kudu, Buffalo, Elephant, Giraffe and Warthog. And of course this beautiful Leopard. Thanks for watching and hope you've enjoyed the rest of the series so far!

    • @graemecumming
      @graemecumming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't been to Tsavo National park yet Dalton, but yes, I imagine it is quite similar. Kruger is slightly bigger at 19,600 sq km's, whereas Tsavo is just under 14,000 sq km's.

    • @daltonmwadime2808
      @daltonmwadime2808 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ecosystem I see is almost similar..but in terms of animal density I think Kruger takes first place for animals like wild dogs, cheetahs and lions..

    Thank you for sharing your videos. What is the best time of year to visit Kruger, North & South, for the best game viewing. Also, my girlfriend and I don't want to do a self-drive, how do we get from one camp to the next? Are there taxis available at most camps and what do they charge? We are planning to book the group tours while based in camp.

    • @graemecumming
      @graemecumming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sharon - the Park gets very hot during Dec and January, so I would advise April through October as being the best months weather wise. Obviously winter is preferable (June-July) as the park dries up, the bush is less dense (foliage wise) and the waterholes becomes gathering points for thirsty animals. I'm not sure there are shuttles between camps - I have not seen this service. Most folks would drive themselves between camps in the park - but perhaps check with the major camps - there may be a shuttle service that could get you from one camp to the next. Good luck with your planning - I'm sure you'll have a great time.

    I subscribed recently and find your footage to be right up there with the best of similar presenters. Narration level a bit too low. Music selection and quality is very appropriate. I’m interested in how you have the vehicle rigged with cameras and mounting and what lenses are being used. It’s been about a dozen years since I visited Kruger. We don’t have have such a place in Canada. I am hoping to see your subscriber numbers grow. Seems to be hugely lower than you deserve right now. Thanks!

    • @graemecumming

      Hey Edward - thanks for the kind words and feedback. In terms of cameras - I use a GoPro Hero 8 Black for most of the shots. I have it attached to a small handheld tripod that I either hold out of the window or place on the dash. No mounting as such. For the closer shots, I use a Canon EOS M50 MK II with a 70-300mm lens. Mostly handheld and resting on the window or a beanbag.
      As for the channel growth - thanks - also hoping to see the numbers climb. 😉

    Hi Your videos of the Kruger are really good and enjoyable only 1 complaint why cant you let the sound of nature be your background music its far better than the inappropriate music played at 45 decibels louder than your talking meaning whe the music is played one has to turn the sound down and when you start talking the volume has to be turned up again rather annoying i find
