Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I have been trying to reset my sons xbox one x for days but this video and xbox help forum have come through for me. I did this atleast a doen times (and a couple other things, voodoo may have been involved) and still had the update screen go black on me but I went a step further (Thanks Xbox forum). When it went black the last time I did this. I watched the flashdrive blinking off and on. When it stopped flashinG (leaving the flashdrive in the console) I turned the console off (manually on the xbox console for a hold of 5 -7 secs). Then I waited for 10 - 15 secs and (manually on the console) turned it back on and sat down and waitied. Less than 30 seconds later the screen lit up and prepared to start the console. After praying to every God I could think, the console had reset to factory default. I got to go do my happy dance now. Thanks again!!!!

Flash drives are easy to change fat32 too ntfs. by right clicking on desired flashdrive. the option of normal or fast. the most difficult part is "wondering if you got it"

Mine worked lastnight, did every step you did. Re booted the Xbox and everything to brand-new and played a couple of hours but then the next morning I woke up. It went back to the same thing "troubleshoot". Why ?

Doesn't hurt to ask. Ok I'm pretty tech savvy. Formatted USB to Ntfs put the OSU1.ZIP to root...got troubleshoot page up...online update was highlighted. It gets to 1 second and I get error e101 every time. I factory reset it and tried again and still it won't finish. I used the USB on another console and it worked! I'm told to get my console and send it to Microsoft...asking if you had this issue or any suggestions? Also the USB stayed in the other console for a while and it got left on for a couple hours. A pop up said USB now synced to xbox...so maybe it reformatted? I put USB back in PC and it shows the file and its ntfs with the exact info and everything when I 1st put it on. What sucks is my xbox is 4 months old...its brand new practically and I'm stuck with this money deadweight.
It's a very long story how this started and ended. Depending your situation you still may be able to fix your system. I can easily get the menu up. Easily can get the console to start the offline OSU1 update. But within 5 seconds.. guaranteed, console would stop the update with an error. It wasnt my USB or my file. It was my xbox x. I figured it out. Like I said, very long story on everything that happened. Realized a few other issues had taken place. I bit my pride and bought a new xbox x. With the best warranty available. Took me almost a month to get over the whole scenario...to just let it go and not worry about it anymore. I did learn a lot about the ins and outside of the console. See, many people put up help vids but seem to never respond to our questions. So if I can help you out, just respond. I'll see what I can do.
Lachlan Harvey osu2 update is outdated and no longer needed or used. However if you are using a system that hasn't been updated in a very long time then yes you need osu2 which you can Google for it. However if your system has been updated to present time or even a few months or more then osu2 is outdated.

When u press the on button hold the eject (middle of Xbox ) pair button (under the on button) hold then till something’s pops on to the screen plug in ur usb (using the steps in the vid) the offline update should light up
Sounds like the location you are downloading to is a FAT32 filesystem. Make sure everything is NTFS. Also, make sure you are not downloading the OSU1.zip file directly to the USB Flash drive. Download to the downloads folder. Then unzip it's contents to the NTFS USB Flash drive.
Hi, i have done everything in this video, it loads up until 74 percent then turns off and takes about a minute to go back to the troubleshoot page. ive tried it again at did the same at 54 percent. any help will be appreciated. thanks
and now it works even with a brand new hdd, there is no need for cloning or partitioning, just insert new hdd, use the button combo to start offline update, there, u have a dead hdd replaced with new hdd without hassle
@Jake Diaz for sure, i fixed a few white xbox slim with 500gb HDD, download the osut1 file, there 2 different kind, the original black and the new S and X, but u have to choose this anyway when u download the osut1, the usb goes in the front not the back, the usb stick is NTFS formatted not fat32 or exfat, u hold the symc and eject button for like 10 sec, i will do the firmware automatically
For me the issue is that even if you install the offline update you still MUST have internet connection to use the console. MS need to make a offline update to bypass this because it is stupid. You cant reach the dashboard if you do not have internet connection EVEN IF you successfully update your console through USB flash drive.

I was having trouble with my Xbox recognizing the USB until I realized that my external drive was still plugged in (a drive I use to save all my games). Anyone with the same setup, make sure to remove other drives in the back to save yourselves some of the frustration I had.
It’s Jaysta I have an external piece that I plug in to save my games (similar to saving files on a computer but bigger and with more storage). I always leave it plugged in to have access with all my games. However, when you want to do the update, unplug your second storage, and make sure the USB you are plugging in for the update is the only thing in your xbox.
Im Destroy - should still work. I did my update during the past holidays and once I found how to correct the problem I was having, everything worked well. You can always look up offline update on Microsoft.com, but i would think this is still how you do it (plugging in a usb to your xbox)

@@PapsOnBone yes. And make sure you extract osu2 straight to the flashdrive. Lemme say that osu2 might error out during the update. That's fine. Let it error out 1 or 2 times. Next take out flash drive. Delete it and extract osu1 to the flashdrive. Then start the update with osu1. It might also error out the first time. That's okay. It'll work eventually. Have you formatted your hard drive to work with the Xbox one X yet?
@@Zanmaverick last week whenever I hard restarted my console and turned it back on it would get stuck on the startup screen so I reset it and it worked until I restarted again and I did this a few times but bow it won't even reset because whenever I try it stays on the preparing console screen for awhile and then gives me an error message

usually it means your hard drive partions or volumes arent set correctly for xbox. need an updater partition on the drive as well as many others. he has another video explaining how to do it all
The easiest way to format it is to right click the drive and choose format :D

you probably need OSU3 download as well. Update that to your xbox first then OSU1 and see what happens :)

It should work. Make sure you are are downloading OSU1.zip. OSUDT2 was renamed to OSU1 several years ago. You've got a good memory.

The kind of the usb stick matters, some have weird firmware, then try different usb stick
And it will even remember who was logged in , that must he stored in thr flash memory on the mobo

My xbox just gmstays at 0 percent and then says something went wrong

your xbox probably needs to have OSU2 installed first, then OSU1 www.xbox.com/xboxone/osu2 ... hope this helps

It can be USB 2.0 or 3.0.
USB 3.0 is only required for external drives you want to install games on.

Your not alone. It wont let me update at all.
I was having trouble with my Xbox recognizing the USB until I realized that my external drive was still plugged in (a drive I use to save all my games). Anyone with the same setup, make sure to remove other drives in the back to save yourselves some of the frustration I had.

It’s Jaysta I have an external piece that I plug in to save my games (similar to saving files on a computer but bigger and with more storage). I always leave it plugged in to have access with all my games. However, when you want to do the update, unplug your second storage, and make sure the USB you are plugging in for the update is the only thing in your xbox.

Im Destroy - should still work. I did my update during the past holidays and once I found how to correct the problem I was having, everything worked well. You can always look up offline update on Microsoft.com, but i would think this is still how you do it (plugging in a usb to your xbox)

How do u get past the update screen? Iv tried to boot the xbox to offline update mode cant get it to do that any help would be great...my x box one came like this requires Internet...just to use the dam thing!

Can someone please explain to me how I keep managing to mess this up. I made sure it was NTFS and a 3.0 64gb drive and then used 7zip to extract it directly to the drive. There is no other drive or anything so I’m completely lost as to why it keeps failing

@@PapsOnBone yes. And make sure you extract osu2 straight to the flashdrive. Lemme say that osu2 might error out during the update. That's fine. Let it error out 1 or 2 times. Next take out flash drive. Delete it and extract osu1 to the flashdrive. Then start the update with osu1. It might also error out the first time. That's okay. It'll work eventually.

@@Zanmaverick last week whenever I hard restarted my console and turned it back on it would get stuck on the startup screen so I reset it and it worked until I restarted again and I did this a few times but bow it won't even reset because whenever I try it stays on the preparing console screen for awhile and then gives me an error message

Not within macOS because it does not support creating NTFS partitions however, you could boot Ubuntu from a flash drive on a Mac.

when I insert my usb flash drive after doing all of this, the offline system update button isn't available to be chosen. does anyone know how to fix this??
usually it means your hard drive partions or volumes arent set correctly for xbox. need an updater partition on the drive as well as many others. he has another video explaining how to do it all
