I have an 86 Civic Si hatchback & plan to do exactly what you just did. I just bought another one identical to it for parts. One thing I want to do is take the carpet out & put down dynamat before reinstalling, & use their other product for the doors.
Heya, Is there any way i can peek under the floor carpet without having to take apart the whole car? My mom is looking for a second hand car and i want to make sure she doesn't end up with something with mold or insects. Because you never know what's hiding under that carpet.. Especially in the trunk.
I did the same thing with cutting the carpet that goes behind the dash bracket on my eg, it would have been a pain if I hadn't. You probably won't need to stitch it back together, it's covered up and out of the way, has never caused me problems with how the carpet sits and fits. Also easy to remove again if you ever have to. So I'd just not worry about it. :D
Yeah you’re right man, you don’t even see it behind the dash bracket. I seriously thought for a second about removing the srs plugs but then I decided not to and I’m glad I didn’t. Like you said, if I have to take it out again it makes it even easier. Check out next weeks episode to see that color change, it came out so good
Do you know if the EK hatches have the interior trim in a dark grey? Specifically the rear quarter trim panels. I noticed your's looks to be a darker grey. My 97 dx has light grey interior panels and have seen a couple at the junk yard with light grey as well. Looking to change mine over to a darker grey if possible without having to paint
They do, both of ours have a "Interior color Type K" sticker at the passenger door, also the B16 powered ones here in Europe came with a darker interior.I assume same thing in the US?
Nice video... I did that on my '98 hb and also on my '00 hb... O clean it up and then use cloth dye dark grey and came out great.... it's also a perfect moment to do a p/w p/l convertion... nice hatch btw
Thanks man and great job on your own car! I have a video coming out next week showing my oem carpet color dye. Iit came out so good! I’m happy to hear yours came out great too. It’s amazing how much it changes the interior
Sorry, but no! I should have when I was there. Believe it or not that is still the stock piece that came with the car. Slightly warped...but you know hah
I'd say this car is in mint condition, most cars at this age here in east Canada ended up in scrap yard long time ago with rust holes all over car body
I'm enjoying this series, I'm able to learn a ton because you're always so clear and thorough, so thank you for that. I'm planning on doing the same thing with the factory carpet in my eg hatch, it's so gross, I was thinking of trying out changing the color of it so I look forward to the next vid!
Well I sure appreciate that encouragement Giancarlo! Thank you. I hope you get something out of that episode next week then with the color dye on the original carpet. I’m going to encourage you to give it a shot yourself man because as you’ll see my original carpet came out great after the color dye and it’s super cheap but even better is you know the carpet is going to fit right in your car!
I was thinking about that at first because the cost for a new one from an aftermarket company seems fair. Check out my episode next week though to see what I did with my original carpet, it really came out great
dude, you didn’t even give me a chance then or you didn’t hear me say that I am restoring it. Check out the restoration I did on it and how the end result came out. Everyone loves it.
Refine Movement I mean, considering the condition it was in, it’s obviously in way better shape than it was. At least it’s all one color now, but it’s still a gross piece of fabric in your car tho. The fibers have no life left in them, you pulled your whole car apart to put back in that nasty carpet. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck... it’s a duck. Can’t paint a pretty face on it and call it a lady 🤷🏻♂️
My daughter was just given a 1998 honda civic dx that's been sitting for 13 years. Holy mouse potty.... struggling to get it clean
bruh me too. Porsche 925. 14 years since last tagged.

Dude I have an 89 wagon that’s a 2001 SI 👀 and I’m going all ready carpet
i have a 2000 ek1 and the recent heavy rain in Sydney has fucked the carpet so this video has helped a lot cheers mate
I have a 03 coupe with rust and water problems and I'm needing to replace it so this is very motivating!
woooot the boys got a new project been missing yalls content!
We’ve been here but yeah haven’t had a big project like this for a minute. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Where's the episode with you cleaning it?

So true its covered behind that center bracket for the dash behind the cup holders so you and no one else notices it

Refine Movement can’t wait!

Bought a 93 civic with water leaked into trunk and all carpets so it's coming out.😂 Thank you.
that white EG is a beauty ...
Did you happen to make that trunk template available? 😬
Sorry, but no! I should have when I was there. Believe it or not that is still the stock piece that came with the car. Slightly warped...but you know hah
1:49 Is that a 73 or 88 ?
You may also want to consider some rust inhibitor on those seat brackets. I don’t know about you but knowing that rust is there would drive me nuts 🥜
I know it's quite randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Ariel Dante I use flixzone. Just google for it :)

Does anyone know what that insulation mat under dash on fire wall is called? Trying to remove it and locate a leak🙏🏽
I just did the exact same thing video came in clutch
I'm also enjoying the series because I'm doing the same thing with an old Mitsubishi ....but PLEASE, STOP SAYING 'kinda'.
But kinda makes it better
Where is that shift boot from
That wire and connector that was on the driver side coming out of the opening... do you know what it belongs to?
Seat belt buckle sensor
a few years back i cleaned and dyed my grotty ek grey carpet black and it looked like new
Oh you did, nice! For real man, I can’t believe how well the carpet dye works, as you know yourself!
Underrated
Love the mini series
My 98 civic doesn't have metal under the carpet, it's like a 1/2 inch thick layer of plastic. maybe insulation for a colder climate.
I'm in middle of removing carpet off my EG and I'm gonna do what you did, cut it from the front haha
exacly what i did i look it at and was like helll no im not taking the dash off rn
plus can always glue back 🤫
Thanks

@@RefineMovement i can't wait, I'll def be doing it myself to salvage the factory carpet, and great point NOTHING will ever fit as good as oem!!
Why not use sound deadening material to cover your cardboard template
That sounds interesting!
Lbs?
Looks like someone cleaned that passenger side with bleach or something like that.
Yeah for real! Not sure why haha
Got the same stain on my 8th. Probably some bleach-based stain releaser is my guess. Arrgghh lol.
Good instructions, maybe it's me but moving the camera quickly is hard for the eye to follow.
fucking sweet bro im excited to re do mine, i have a hole under my driver side it keeps gettin wet
Nice
Smart
First to be in your car world
Haha chill out internet 🤣
I thought you were going to replace the carpet
He obviously is 🤦🏽♂️. This video explains how to remove the carpet. Doesn’t mention anything about replacing it, read the title dude
I just did the sound deadening delete lol

I was thinking about that at first because the cost for a new one from an aftermarket company seems fair. Check out my episode next week though to see what I did with my original carpet, it really came out great
