    I did an aftermarket carpet in my 88 civic, and it was pretty good and not too hard to trim up, but definitely didn't like how it bubbled in some areas and didn't fit nearly as good as oem. I will donthis next time for sure. I think its worth however getting it professionally cleaned and steamed cleaned with industrial equipment. The cleaner it is, the better the paint sticks. I like how you used a garden sprayer. Good idea

    Looks good! Things I've learned over the years is start with a pack of powder with 2 gallons of water and 1 cup white vinegar and use that mix as a "primer" next you can switch to a bottle to get it black black. When done I suggest setting the dye with vinegar and then rinse the pad again. I have had mats bleed onto my shoes in higher temps..not Everytime but a couple times my shoe soles have turned black 😅

      Giancarlo! thanks a lot dude! Yeah, for something so inexpensive and just requiring some prep work in cleaning it, it’s so worth while.
      I only wiped in the dye after the last coat. After all three bottles were sprayed down on it the carpet got more saturated with the dye, you know. So only at the end did I feel it was necessary to wipe the dye in to the fiber but see how it goes for you. Maybe you’ll feel you want to do it after each coat. i pressure washed mine then soaked with Dawn dish soap, and then i scrubbed really good,
    then pressure washed it again and hung it out in the Florida sun for most of the next day,
    i could have used a wet-vac to speed it up but i had other projects i was working on, so it was all good!

    Hey quick question, I want to do this with my car but I was worried the dye would wash out if it got wet or if I steam cleaned it. Do you know how well the dye sticks? it looks so good I am very tempted to try it!

      Did it to my car beige and it came right out after being steam cleaned. The color transferred once the carpet was wet mess up a lot of my clothes for months. I wouldn’t recommend. Ooh my carpet is an ugly green color now.

    If the carpet smells moldy though, just cleaning it probably won’t help, right?

      Not sure. I’d still try it! Any carpet you get from a junkyard would be stinky too I’d imagine haha so try to clean yours first. Otherwise buying a pre-made piece may be the way to go for you

    After taking the carpet out of the vehicle, and vacuuming it, take it to a laundromat and wash it once or twice in a big front-loader washing machine (the ones that large comforters are washed in). Use some odor eliminating detergent during the wash cycle. Then dry it gently on low heat. 🎇🌴

    How does the carpet look now? Are you happy with it?

      @RefineMovement  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, very well! It's holding up and still looks good. Mine was pretty dramatic having that big bleached spot so it being black is very noticeably improved now.
