"Fire on the Mountain" Run, boys, run!
The Devil's in the house of the rising sun
Chicken's in the bread pan picking out dough
Granny, will your dog bite? No, child, no
#CharlieDaniels #TheDevilWentDowntoGeorgia #OfficialMusicVideo
Charlie played both the Devil and Johnny's parts, so that means Charlie is actually the best that ever was.
It also means Charlie lost a bet to himself which seems a bit superfluous
Charlie is johnny he's gotta be he's the best there's ever been
even broke his bow
Cold facts
I could have told you that fact long before this song came out
"I done told you once you son of a bitch I'm the best there's ever been." Heard that line 1,000 times and I still get amped everytime I hear Charlie say it. Rest easy Charlie.
Totally
Shit yeah,,gives me the shivers.
@Brad Watson Seek a therapist.
@Brad Watson please get some help
@Brad Watson Lay off the drugs dude.
Heaven has just gained another angel... Rest In Peace Charlie Daniels.
😭😭😭
Another chunk of my childhood gone...
What a hell of a country band there is in heaven now......
R.I.P.😥
long live the volin legend
i love the idea that its the literal devil playing against him and is also the judge and instead of lying johnny was just so good that the devil couldnt even try to lie.
That's a common misconception about the Devil due to movies and TV shows. The Devil is an honorable being. If you make a bet like this, and you truly are better, the Devil would honor his deal against you.
@Twerkulies
Yes, but he will try to find any possible loophole to win.
Devil can't lie though
He knew he’d been beat.
The devil knew he was objectively better. I’m pretty sure when Johnny is playing and singing, he’s calling out the names of the songs he’s playing so he was mixing up snippets of actual songs while playing way faster than the devil. The devil had no chance of winning
Guy has a broken arm and is still there trying to ply piano, respect
Naw he wasn’t trying he was playing tf outta that piano
The piano guy is a legend
That was a synth, not a piano. Unless it is an electric piano.
@Brad Watson nutcase
Not trying, succeeding
RIP Charlie Daniels, play that golden fiddle with the Lord’s angels.
great memories of him doing this song
A nice sentiment
Agreeed
Hello how are you doing
OMG!! You are so right lord bless his soul!
There is absolutely no reason I would like this. But there’s something about a cowboy talking shit to the devil while absolutely ripping the fiddle thst I just love
Same lol I listen to modern lyrical rap and this song just hits different
I do not believe there can be a single human being who dislikes this masterpiece
@Brian Jones We're all kids deep down
@Brian Jones how old are you that you're trying to act cool? It's ok to admit your real feelings, jonesy
the greatest comment. this made me laugh
"And the devil jumped up on a hickory stump and said boyy let me tell ya what!" Greatest music verse EVER!
The intro is the best:The devil went down to Georgia,he was looking for a soul to steal he was in a bind and he was way behind and he was willing to make a deal 💋
We in 20q4 are in the hardest fight against the devil we have ever fought...vote blue across the board meaning vote Democrat if you want to save your right to have rights to be who you want to be ..country boy or country woman our rights to be are on vote 🗳 what do you want ?
Almost as good as 'fvcking magnets, how do they work'
@@suetaylor5159 Dude, we're listening to The Devil Went Down To Georgia, not your babbling about politics
Gives me chills, son!
In the mid 1990's I saw Charlie sing this classic in an open amphitheatre with a storm coming up behind him. Lightning was literally striking behind him as he sung, put chills up my spine!
Even Thor likes this song lol
My God that would have been a sight to see. I envy you.
and your story gave me goosebumps! hahaha ✨⚡🎻
Wow.
Wow I would have loved to see that ..must have been an awesome experience
I'm 33, black and grew up in the city but this is one of my favorite songs ever. RIP Charlie Daniels.
Same inky the age is different. This song goes in everytime.
I’d go down on you two like the devil went down to Georgia except I’d win 😋😂
What difference does it make how old you are?✌
33 ain't too young to appreciate good music, Mooris✌
Lol, i'm 18 so what?
RIP Charlie Daniel’s. This is definitely the best song to remember him by.
Yes, I totally agree and also his version of the William Tell Overture
Uneasy rider too, "Green teeth". ;-)
Or Softly and Tenderly.....

Uneasy Rider, should be his memory
I live in the same area he was from (Mt. Juliet, TN). He was known to show up by himself in a grocery store or gas station. Always humble and willing to take time to talk to his fans. I delivered Doordash to his home in Lebanon a few times before and after he passed. A great man, great family and great legend.
The fact that he was still ordering DoorDash well after he had keeled over proves how badass Charlie actually was!
@@kingboagart899 LOL, I mean I delivered after he passed to his ranch, you know his family still lives there right?
You were so lucky!!
The devil went down to Georgia, but you Charlie went up to heaven.
Charlie went to hell just to beat the devil quick and then went to heaven

Hope he beat him with his fiddle.

RIP CHARLIE- "The best there's ever been"
He better tell that son of a bitch he was the best.
Damn right
The band got better up in heaven and now the devil is gonna have one hell of a time being ashamed for losing the golden fiddle. He showed that sumbitch!!!
Ever since I heard he passed! I would get chills hearing this song ❤ makes me cry This was the song of my childhood
Amen
This song is truly one of the best songs that has ever been made. Not only is it musically, lyrically and rhythmically pleasing, but it also tells a fucking cool story.
1000% agree. Few art pieces can truly be called “masterpieces” - this is a musical masterpiece.
Always been a fave of mine since I was a kid and my dad put on Charlie Daniel cassette tape to play his drums along to.
It really is
He beat the devil, i think we all love that ❤
@@BestFilmproducer 💯%✊🏽👊🏽💥
3:27 when the crowd cheers because the lyrics talk about Jonny beating the devil and being cocky calling the devil a son of a bitch, THAT shows you how important and powerful good writing and storying can be in a song.
Technically Johnny was right to call the devil a "son of a bitch" since Damian Throne' s mother was a Jackal.
@@walboyfredo6025 ok, boomer.
@@larryhoover2541 I don't understand how that has anything to do with being a boomer?

One of the Best Country Songs that has stood the test of all time Country,
The Charlie Daniel's Band!!!
This is real country music. The new age pop-country music just doesn’t hold the same values/feel that makes country music special. RIP Charlie Daniels
Couldn't agree more!
True
Depends on the genre of music
Agree
It’s not telling a story anymore. This is a great story with a hint of southern rock and a good amount folk influence along just typical country at the time, it’s beautiful. Now a days it’s just talking about how alcohol makes you feel funny and how they kissed a girl. There’s no story anymore in the music and it’s unfortunate.

Charlie Daniels. Got to get to an age of over 80 years, and gave his last performance just a few months before his death. No matter if you are into that kind of music or not, you gotta admire his greatness.

RIP Charlie, one of the best there's ever been.
When I was in High School, this song was SUPER popular. At lunch, they used to play the radio in the cafeteria over the loudspeakers, so we often sang along when good ones came on. We loved when this played because when it got to the radio version (I done told you once you son of a gun, I’m the best that’s ever been), we all chanted loudly the REAL lyrics to drown out the “on the radio” version, “I done told you once you son of a bitch, I’m the best that’s ever been!” The teachers used to roll their eyes and shake their heads at us.
Sounds like a damn good time haha
When I first heard THIS song, I was still wondering about whether my mom had kissed Santa Claus.
i honestly feel like the "son of a gun" line fits better in the song, but maybe im just biased because its the first version i heard

Tax DiGregorio ran the band. Saw CDB in Passaic, NJ one night and Charlie had to slow him down between songs, he would start the next one up when he was thought they were ready. Charlie was tired after doing The Legend of the Wooley Swamp - which was GREAT in concert. They were filming for MTV (when it still had music) and put two warmup bands from Nashville with him. Jason and the Scorchers and the Swimming Pool Cues. - The crowds was okay with the Swimming Pool Cues (even if the music did not fit the crowd) because it had a cute girl playing tamborine and they said after the second song "Look we know this is not what you want to hear, but we need to get paid." Jason and the Scorchers had more people in the men's room than in the auditorium because they kept waiting for an applause that never came, and gave the crowd attitude. Combined with technical difficulties (they were filming for a show on MTV) the concert "started" at 7:30 and CDB did not come on till 10:45. Finished a little after midnight. Passaic NJ is really not the place you want to be hanging out in the streets after midnight. LOL. Great show though.
