- I PREDICTED THIS HAPPENING SO HARD!!! For those who don't know Alpha Dream the studio behind the series went bankrupt in 2018 and we weren't sure if this series would continue or get another game in the series. I then predicted that with all the RPGs we got for Mario we should be getting the series back because of how much of a resurgence he's gotten. and for it to be the first reveal in the direct is amazing!!! I hope some of the original team at the very least gets to work on this game but I can definitely say the music is still on point since it should be still the same female composer for the series. I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS SERIES ONCE AGAIN THAT MADE RPGs SO MUCH FUN!!!!!
I hope I'm wrong but to me it doesn't sound like Yoko Shimomura did this.

Of all Mario games the M&L series has some very dark music in comparison to other Mario games where you would question if this is really from a Mario game which gave me the feeling that this world is new and unknown with a new original villain. We need her music to give us that feeling because she is perfect for this job. Her music is energetic, has much tension, fast paced, beautiful synthesizer and has catchy headbanging rhythyms. Other Mario games have fitting music but it feels like they are too afraid to go to the darker area which is not the case with Yoko Shimomura.
She is one of the most talented people in all of video game music. Not using her is needless risk honestly, but I hope the ost is good nonetheless

But, it just isn’t the same wonky splonky vibe all the other past games casual battle themes have been, like tough guys Alert for example. I just ain’t doing the superstar dance vibe to this
This is most likely the normal battle theme, not the boss battle theme.

@@Mastggggggggg Yeah, on the site it has a lot of details. Even in the direct after the trailer itself it was called a seafaring adventure. Apparently the main island we start on is also just a giant ship.

A lot of you guys are tripping. This theme slaps. I don’t mind If Yoko isn’t in this one since I like to hear other composers do their thing.
Plus in the beginning it sounds like an over world theme and if that’s the case then it’s very very good and I’m confident that the ost will be good.
But also I like the Sea Shanty vibes it has cuz it makes sense. Also I’m not sure if this is the Extension Corps theme and not the boss theme.
Because immediately when they dropped this song the first frame that accompanies it is the shot of the Extension Corps.
So maybe we will have a theme for these guys instead of the generic boss theme.

for me it doesnt really feel like a boss theme compared to the rest of the series boss themes but that could be because yoko shimoura may not be composing the soundtrack this time

Hey , maybe i'm wrong, but for most of the other first trailers of mario and luigi games, the theme used in the trailer was the theme of the main menu before starting a game !

We’ve only heard about 46 seconds of this and people are already giving out odd expectations.
Personally, it’s definitely great. Sounds like a mini-boss theme that would fit. Most people are shocked that Yoko isn’t involved. But thats not a problem to me tbh.
Otherwise, I love this piece when I heard it, and even if it doesn’t have that compressed bit sound that others are so attached to. It fits right in with Mario & Luigi music.
