Honestly, at least in my experience with Whacka, he’s not that hard if you go in with the right badges and the right strategy. If you’re not increasing your defense and are taking full damage from each bump…then yeah, you might wanna learn to Superguard.

The fact that this mf has _six defense_ is honestly maybe my favorite part of the fight. If I'm not mistaken, literally the only other enemy in the first two games with that much defense was _Kent C. Deal with it._ I was actually kind of sad to find out that what I thought was "permanent Dodgy" was actually just me not knowing his stances yet LOL, thinking I just had to _deal with him having a random chance to dodge any attack_ made it that much more intimidating. It finally felt like TTYD was _daring me_ to kick its ass like I've done all these years, stacking every Power Plus and P-Up D-Down to just lay waste to everything, and they literally couldn't have picked a better character to be the face of that challenge than the mythical first champion we've wanted to fight for almost _twenty years._ What a _moment,_ experiencing this fight for the first time. the _second_ time, i superguarded him twice early on and took him out before he even got to ENTER his second phase. that was a little sad lmao
when I fought him it was like this nightmare of dodging every strategy I had in the best way possible, when he started dodging crystal star moves and trolls you if you try veil i was appalled lmao
In all fairness, his superguard timings on first phase are quite a bit more tricky to learn than the second phase ones, so even if you're actively trying to superguard you'll often just reach second phase anyway
"Man when I romhack TTYD, I'm gonna make Prince Mush this awesome superhard boss fight! It's gonna have phases and he'll change stances and he'll punch the FP out of your face and go Super Saiyan 3 and his theme music's gonna be awesome!" Nintendo: "And you gotta superguard his attacks or you can't win, right?" "Yeah! ...wait what was that?" Nintendo: "I said that'll be 60 bucks please."
During the scene in the final boss where everyone comes together to cheer Mario and the gang on, I was half-expecting Prince Mush to fucking instant transmission into the Shadow Palace and oneshot the Shadow Queen. "Hey, it looks like this Shadow Queen's giving you a lot of trouble, huh, Mario? That must mean she's really strong! Let me fight her!"
He *is* the hardest fight, he’s the only boss that pretty much forces you to superguard. The fact he can do like 100 damage in a turn is insane. Also I’m pretty sure he is immune to like every status or atleast they didn’t work for me.
This may be the single hardest boss in the Paper Mario series, if you’re bad at super guarding, this fight is literally impossible, and also he deals like 100 damage in a single turn Bonetail was a complete joke in comparison
I love how they managed to make something so challenging and so heartwarming at the same time. No need for drama, just two superstars duking it out for fun.
I've begun to theorize that Prince Mush wasn't this strong before he was drained, but his revival through the Gold Star, responsible for Power Lift, which can boost your attack and defense, granted him power upon his rebirth. Basically, Prince Mush's body with the Gold Star's power.
This is seriously some mid 2000s gameFAQs theory shit come true. This game man…I wouldn’t be a game dev if it weren’t for TTYD and to see it given so much love fills my heart up.

Okay, but like, can we talk about how this song has a _completely_ different vibe from basically everything else on the soundtrack? Almost nothing is immune to the "goofy-heroic" vibe of Paper Mario, _except this song._ If you're like me and you notice that sort of thing subconsciously, that makes stuff like this hit so much harder. *Pain.*
Seriously though I can understand why he had to poison mush to beat him because wtf
Actually, the poison in the cake wasn't enough to defeat him, and the only way to finish him was to use the powerful power of the Star Stone to banish him to another dimension.
@@mynnchloque1270
Also, The Crystal Star sucking Mush in wasn't Rawk's idea, but Grubba trying to silence him from uncovering a conspiracy in the Glitz Pit.
I wouldnt be surprised if Grubba made Rawk Hawk think of poisoning him too, honestly the fact that Mush alone got Grubba and Rawk Hawk so fucking scared speaks wonders

“They’re all the same to me!”
“And I took that personally” - Prince Mush
“Hey there everybody, this is Mush, from thousands! Did you know, my favorite things are; jumping into 100 trials, stale life shrooms, new players with no experience, the latest season of Trivia quiz-off, aanndd fear. See ya in TTYD remake everybody.” - Prince Mush (probably)
This is so good 😭
What a cute homage to that one video.
Player: "What if I dont know how/when to superblock?"
Prince Mush/Whacka: "Then I guess you better be prepared to die"
Well with wacka you can just use veil
Honestly, at least in my experience with Whacka, he’s not that hard if you go in with the right badges and the right strategy. I had several defensive badges equipped, which, combined with Power Lift, halved the damage I took from each Whacka Bump, so I beat him pretty easily without Superguarding. If you’re not increasing your defense and are taking full damage from each bump…then yeah, you might wanna learn to Superguard.
Koops' Shell Shield also makes a turn of Whacka's attacks completely safe for Mario, no matter how good of a Shell Shield you ended up getting. Can't use the same strategy for Mush to beat him, though.
I haven't even beaten bonetail yet and im already scared of whacka
Danger strats with Close Call can keep you alive long enough to stumble into the superguard timing eventually. Ask me how I know.
As a kid I always wanted to see how strong Prince Mush was since he was hyped up so much. I never thought I’d have so much fun getting thrashed by a toad.

Everyone after getting humbled by a Toad capable of going Beast Mode with 96 HP and 6 Defense: _Pain._
The fact that this mf has _six defense_ is honestly maybe my favorite part of the fight. If I'm not mistaken, literally the only other enemy in the first two games with that much defense was _Kent C. Koopa,_ and there it was meant to be this insurmountable hurdle you had to find a trick to get around. Here it's like... yeah, I've got _six defense. Deal with it._
I was actually kind of sad to find out that what I thought was "permanent Dodgy" was actually just me not knowing his stances yet LOL, thinking I just had to _deal with him having a random chance to dodge any attack_ made it that much more intimidating.
It's gonna have phases and he'll change stances and he'll punch the FP out of your face and go Super Saiyan 3 and his theme music's gonna be awesome!"
Nintendo: "And you gotta superguard his attacks or you can't win, right?"
"Yeah! ...wait what was that?"
Nintendo: "I said that'll be 60 bucks please."
This does feel like a romhack battle

He *is* the hardest fight, he’s the only boss that pretty much forces you to superguard. The fact he can do like 100 damage in a turn is insane. Also I’m pretty sure he is immune to like every status or atleast they didn’t work for me.
Train your Superguard or Find Out.
This may be the single hardest boss in the Paper Mario series, if you’re bad at super guarding, this fight is literally impossible, and also he deals like 100 damage in a single turn
Bonetail was a complete joke in comparison
@@gleen9843what about the other secret boss? I've not heard anything of his difficulty but his stats look completely ridiculous
I love how they managed to make something so challenging and so heartwarming at the same time. No need for drama, just two superstars duking it out for fun.
the true champion of the glitz pit. a fighter who, despite his incredible power, is respectful and kind. he deserves a theme this good
I've begun to theorize that Prince Mush wasn't this strong before he was drained, but his revival through the Gold Star, responsible for Power Lift, which can boost your attack and defense, granted him power upon his rebirth. Basically, Prince Mush's body with the Gold Star's power.
He stated himself that he trained to get to this point so I can believe this theory.
counterproposal: the Gold Star has Power Lift _because_ it managed to siphon off part of Prince Mush's power. He was actually much stronger before.
I'm pretty sure he was always powerful. Otherwise, Rawk Hawk wouldn't go through the trouble to poison him with cake before their battle

People seem to forget that the only Toad boss in the series prior to this was The Master.
Toads in the Paper Mario series are built different, since every single one we've seen fight, with the sole exception of Professor Toad (and probably another modern paper mario toad) has been one of the most powerful entities in their game.
I went into the fight knowing that I was gonna get absolutely destroyed, and I've still yet to beat Prince Mush.
Before I found out about this boss, I thought Scissors was the most dangerous Paper Mario character. Prince Mush can probably tear Scissors to shreds.
Holepunch honestly might just dance with Mush instead of doing anything else
The way I see it, Scissors is just a much cockier and more psychopathic version of Mush, with the addition of his un-guardable slice attack.
@@aaronTGP_3756Let's not forget that Prince Mush can deal 110 damage in one attack, which would probably be scaled up in TOK, in his second phase he is invincible against absolutely EVERY attack except superguarding, and the only enemy in all of Paper Mario other than Black Shy Guys who can just straight up dodge your attacks.
I am so fucking glad they did this! Definitely will make going through the Glitz Pit again worth it.
you dont need to go through it again to fight mush
You don’t need to go through it again. You just choose him as an opponent through the “Exhibition Match” option.

I'm still of the opinion that Champion Lance's Theme from Pokemon is one of the best examples; you get there, and suddenly a completely different type of song starts up, and you're like "Oh, shit just got real, didn't it?" (And then if you're like little kid me, you get your ass kicked by his three freakin Dragonites.) This was honestly THE most fun fight in the game for me. I really felt like I was fighting an equal for once, we were both using such bizarre tricks against each other, and the other always had some kind of counter to make it bearable. It wasn’t a fight against a monstrous beast or ancient demon, but it was a close fight, and that’s the best kind of fight in my eyes
The master in 64 was a joke, and I was expecting a fight similar to that here. When this is what I got I've never been happier

Also, getting some serious Golden Sun vibes from this track.
He took years off my lifespan 😭when I went to use Goombella's tattle, I kept telling myself "it cant be that bad, it cant be that bad.." AND WHEN I SAW 96 HP.. ☠initally i smirked because, heh, im in for a good battle.. and then my eyes wander down to 6atk.. AND THEN SIX DEFENSE.. i had to do a double take on the defense because like. WHAT? THATS MORE THAN ALL ALLIES BASE ATTACK? it's a million times worse that he's immune to all items, partner elements, some attacks depending on stance, etc. Also the fact that he can do 100DMG every turn whenever he feels like it. Nintendo is INSANE for letting him charge and attack in the same turn. I haven't seen anyone else experience it, but Prince Mush duplicated himself into three separate enemies, and they all did the 100+dmg attack. LIKE WHAT? ☠
