    MEGA THANKS! Outstanding tutorial and camera work! I went straight from computer to garage and got it done in no time at all...and ordered an extra cable and set of tools to keep on the bike! Keep up the good work!

    Thank you for this video. It really helped me changing out my clutch cable. Thank you once again, but I don’t have a cat.

    Great video. The cable looks pretty enclosed in the housing, so is it possible to lube the cable as per proper maintenance or is it not possible for these cables?

    • @Byrds1967
      @Byrds1967  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can squirt some lube down the cable before you put it on if you wish. But from my experience the cable ALWAYS breaks from the fatigue right by the clutch handle. Lube ain't going to help there.

    Another nice video and it serves as a reminder to go out and check for wear on my clutch cable. One minor point: is it good procedure to apply the specified lube into the cable wrap before completing installation?

    • @Byrds1967
      @Byrds1967  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use to do that....didn't make a difference. It still breaks in the same spot (by the handle grip) which is always exposed and bending.

    Hello.
    Can you tell if 5PB-26335-00-00 cable fit for classic version or only for custom? Cause i also found 5KS-26335-00-00 and can't understund the difference.

      That's a question for a shop. When I order cables I just tell the parts department year and model of the bike.

    I have for some reason too much slack in my line. Even after adjusting all the way where the lever is at. Help!

    • @Byrds1967
      @Byrds1967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) Did you lay both cables on the ground and see if they are the same length? 2) If they are then you adjust the cable "backwards" so that more thread shows near the clutch handle, that shortens the cable.

    Did I hear you right bro, 120k miles? Have you had to any major repairs, rebuild top end anything aside from the normal vstar problems like starter clutch?

    • @Byrds1967
      @Byrds1967  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bike is up to 150k now. The only extra work done in the past was some clutch work as some fly wheels wore out around 80k miles. Other than that just tires, oil, brakes, and occasional clutch cable.

      @@Byrds1967 Right on bro! Hell yeah that makes me feel great about mine. I've got a 03 Vstar 1100 classic and it's at about 40k now...I was wondering if they were good for some miles and obviously they are. Thanks for the reply!

    Are u not suppose to use blue locktite

    • @Byrds1967
      @Byrds1967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those screws go opposite directions of each other. There's no need to use locktite.
