I guess they'll extend the lease till someone's highland is built since it's a May delivery now unless they take existing allocation to expired lease first.

So my original lease was due to expire in Dec 23, i then renewed for 6 months with the understanding once the highland refresh was shipping i could end the lease at any time during the extension without penalty. so i am picking up the new model 3 next week and will turn in my current leased model 3 before the lease extension is completed (end date June '24) but they said that was ok and I'm not liable for the extra couple of months of the extension i signed up for. They said lease extensions are basically considered month-to-month with a max of 6 months. I think this is a nice feature of the lease extensions!

Hi, Im getting ready to return my Model3 lease as well in the next few months. How did you get Wear & Tear incentive? Is that part of any return or do you have ask for it...? Was your communication with Tesla via email or phone or app during your lease return and the order of your new car? How long was the process between submitting your self inspection to knowing much you owe or getting the report?

A tesla agent called me as I was nearing the end of my lease and if i agreed to order a new model 3 they offered to give me $500 towards any wear and tear charges. I would ask for it if they don't offer it to you. also go through the app if you can to order a new one so you can also get self referral credits, which i didn't get even though i asked for them after the fact. It's because i went through the order process over the phone and not the app which hurt me there. I think they turned around the self inspection pretty quickly, i think 6 days from when i submitted the photos.

Hi there! I am same boat as you with my 2021 lease coming due in September this year, and I want o get a new Highland. Can you outline step by step what the process was including the ordering of the new car? I hear conflicting stories about Tesla waiving either 2 or 3 monthly lease payments if you get a new Tesla. I think I am going to have to pay someone to take off the 35 percent tints that I have on all 4 windows and rear as well. Looking forward to your input.

They also initially offered to waive last few months but because i was waiting for new highland refresh, i ended up extending the lease for 3 months but they would have waived remaining months and any fees plus the wear and tear credit (all subject to change and timing). I would ask for all of that it if they don't offer it to you. You have leverage if you are going to order another tesla but play hard to get like you're still thinking about it! Same leasing Model 3 and the end date is 8/18/24. When I started returing process on Tesla APP, i'm told the estimated termination fee is $8664.08. Why this crazy amount?

that doesn't sound right. as long as it's not an early lease termination you shouldn't owe anything, except maybe a disposition fee of a few hundred dollars and wear and tear charges but they waived all fees for me since i was ordering a new model 3.

Thinking of leasing model y, but worry about road chips on the front bumper, do they care about those?

No, that's generally considered normal wear and tear under most leases. I only got dinged for the curb rash on the wheels and I had a chip in the windshield and fairly large scratch on the side that I didn't get charged for either. Tires are usually the biggest expense (sometimes brakes as well but not a concern with Tesla's in general due to regenerative braking). My tires were just on the cusp of needing to be replaced but thankfully I didn't need to replace them.
