After 1,000 miles in 1 week, my verdict on the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range “Highland”

- We've filmed the 2024 Tesla Model 3 refresh (codename "Highland") a few times to test real world range, efficiency, charging cost and charging speed but after covering 1,000 miles in 1 week now is the time to give you my full in-depth and very considered and qualified review in more depth, share my opinions on what is good and what I do not like as well.
Lots of people will be keen to hear how I have been getting on without parking sensors or stalks for example. Probably the most commonly asked questions about this car. Well I'll tell you what I think....
I can also share my efficiency since owned, not just what we get on a longer road trip like we've released so far.
Overall there is very little to dislike and a lot to love. It's a brilliant car and the added refinement is very welcome.

Brilliant! Well done for mentioning the tailgate opening, haven't seen other reviews pay this any mind. Just goes to show how detailed your reviews are! Good work!
Which EVs do you have just out of interest?
Was it calibrated? If yes it would really be a bit of a shame.
Not brilliant. The car is just like all other Tesla on the roads. No different. Boring cars.

I think the speed limit chime is EU/UK law on all 2024 model cars.
I have had mine for about 2 weeks and 100% agree with your review. Great review! Congrats on great channel content
Thanks good to speak for more than just me. I get accused of being biased etc by some, so corroboration is welcomed!
@@RSEV I wonder who accuses you of being biased. I assume it's the biased bunch. To me, it seems your criteria is spot on, and you focus on the consumer aspect in your videos, especially the efficiency. I'd say that's exactly what we need at this stage of EV adaptation.
@@NemanjaPantelicpeople who refuse to believe anything good that is said about an EV. If it was negative, they’d believe him lol.
Took delivery a couple of days ago. Agree with you. Been eyeing the car for panel gaps and paint faults but nothing!!
👏
They've learned how to do panel gaps quicker than the OEMs have learned how to write decent software and vertically integrate. Costs will keep coming down also because it's in their mission statement and master plan (written 17 years ago).
In recent years they got MUCH better but still they have much to improve. My 2023 unit had small points on the rear doors without the color paint (but with the primary) and the paint is very sensible to scratches, I never had so bad. Other than that it’s ok.
Great review Richard. You’re just giving your views and impressions which is exactly what I came here for. Love my 23 MY inc the parking assist and look forward to the upgrade next year.
The deactivation of ISA chime in Model 3 is one of the simplest and best solutions in the industry. Like you said, it's just one touch of the speed limit icon. Unlike other approaches, it does not require diving into the menu every time you start a drive to turn it off. Thank you for a great review!
It’s standard by EU law correct?
@@raz318Having the chimes on? I think it is law and not Tesla's fault. They just make it easy to deactivate.
Yep you are right. All cars are required to have this by EU law now.@@raz318
What is ISA chime please?
@@garyrooksby Thanks for confirming! Is this whenever you go above the defined speed limit, or only at the start of each drive?
Looks a nice upgrade. Thank you Richard for the videos. Best regards Martin
Loved this. Thanks for pointing out Tesla quality. I see many people saying "Oh Tesla's are bad quality" when in actual fact, they're nowhere near and can sometimes even be better than the mainstream brands, such as BMW and Mercedes.
I saw a "Mercedes misalignment" short the other day (can't remember the channel)
th-cam.com/users/shorts9SIWniFKEGE?si=pbvtV7xkMRJHQPvr
Tesla is as good if not better build quality than Mercedes
@@Little_Britain74 100% agree with you here!
Don’t compare German premium cars to a downmarket brand like Kia, sorry MAGA Musk cars,
I test drove the highland today. Made my MY seem noisy and much less refined. Very impressed. I’d happily have a new one! Cooled seats are a nice feature. Button indicators took 15 mins to get used to.
Test drove a Y recently, lovely to drive but I'm reluctant to say it's a pity it's not quieter & the suspension is too hard also, some car to handle when fully loaded tho..
@@Joe-ud2hb Yeah, most including me are wait for model Y juniper, should be out second half this year.
Idrove an X didn''t talek long to get accustumed to the buttons etc.
@@Joe-ud2hbwhen driving with good pavement I love the hard suspension, when I go back to my Audi (much softer) it looks like I’m driving a boat. But on streets with lousy pavement it’s too much. They should’ve thought of a better alternative, eventually an adaptative approach even if we had to pay a little extra.
Note that in some countries some car shops are investigating the new suspension and it seems to be EXACTLY the same as current MYs but with different springs and rubber connections to the body. It seems that people can retrofit the new changes on older models.
About the button indicators: Do you live in a place with many roundabouts?
I agree completely with the Tesla general comments. I have a model y and I will never go back to ice. Great review!
Awesome review. You sound like me every day time I drive my Model Y LR, just in awe of how much better it is than any other vehicle I've ever driven. Fricken love this car. Cheers from the US.
Not “Fricken.” Frunkin’ - you’re welcome❤
Totally agree with your comment on the door handles needing illumination. I can't believe that they missed that in the refresh to-do list. It won't stop me upgrading my m3LR when the time comes though.
2:10 It is a new regulation, and part of it is that you shouldn’t be able to turn it off permanently. It must turn on again every time you start a new trip.
this guys right. all new cars have it now
How annoying.
I've switched mine off, it stays off.
(Not in UK)
Love your videos, brilliant car.😂❤
Test drove the refreshed RWD Model 3 over the weekend. The new soundproofing tricks and refined suspension are game changers. It felt like we were driving another brands luxury car. The turn signals are the only thing that might take a few hours to adjust to.
Thanks for the videos Richard, they kept me going til today when my standard range highland in ultra red arrived! My first Tesla so far so good.
👏👏
Have fun!
Richard, I value your opinion as it’s sensible and true! I’ve watched many reviews and they either say it’s wonderful or pitiful. As an owner of a 23 MYP I know it’s not perfect and very far from pitiful either. Thank you for spreading the truth on EV’s…wish you all the luck in the world on growing your channel!
Thanks for sharing your opinion. How does it compare to the new Taycan? The new model 3 performance will make you forget any cons with the vehicle. Drive safe 😁⚡️
Another great review. I think the RWD is probably all I need. Cheaper than an Astra Electric.
I’ve been watching this Channel for a couple weeks. Great content. Subscribed !!
Thanks for double checking the boot lid!
Thanks for the videos! I have my new model 3 coming this week here in Canada.
I can’t wait for the performance variant
Me too. There is talk that the performance variant may be a sub 3 second 0 to 60.
@@user-yp2nu3lh8h gonna be wicked fast. I just picked up the dual motor and it feels unbelievably fast
I have over 6000 km with my Highland LR now and it’s almost like you reviewed the car out of my brain - agree with simply everything - from the stalks to the ride, positives and negatives.
And hey, the cameraman is absolutely correct: the sides get more dirty than other cars. Here in Sweden, when the weather has been terrible with melting snow and salt, these sides has been dirty like hell. However, not even my small children manage to get dirty from it, because they simply step over it. An adult man should be able to manage this as well 🤣
glad to hear my thoughts after only 1 week are validated! And yes I'll tell gints to just get in and out properly! ha ha
@@RSEV Sounds like your "first thoughts" review comment that front mudflaps are pretty much mandatory are validated. Again, your experience shines through. It made me really chuckle that Gints was being repremanded by some kids to "pick his feet up" !
@@garyrooksby Fun fact: when I picked up the car in early october (first batch of cars in europe I believe) the Tesla employes installed (for free) mud flaps on all Tesla Model 3's!
Other fun fact: it still gets super dirty along the side 😂
@@p3tT4n1I used to live in Germany that also has a lot of snow and people usually buy no mud flaps: dirt and snow accumulate there and can rub on the tires; even with mud flaps the sides get dirty and there is no real advantage on cars, just very important on trucks. The sides are also - on German cars - steering enough to have no issues. My German cars were perfect after many years with dirt/snow. Tesla cars though, have a lousy paint job and I would reinforce the car with PPF on heavier situations (countryside or regions with a lot of snow)
Argh, not fair you are so positive... I need reasons not to buy this amazing vehicle!
Ye it’s as boring as other cars on the road. Everyone drives the same car 😂 sheeps. Get something more special to stand out from all the sheeps.
Lovely video!
Regarding the tow bar, it is most definitely possible to have it retrofitted. I have an appointment for getting mine fitted in two weeks.
Great review Richard. You content never gets old.
Maybe this has been mentioned before but it would be interesting to do a tyre swap to see how much of the noise reduction is the new tyres. Obviously the increased amount of double glazing and other changes all contribute but I have heard they may be one of the major contributors to the reduced noise.
I added some sound insulation to my 22 M3LR and interestingly upgraded underside protection plates (aluminium with a rubbery layer) made the most difference.
Still waiting on that Aussie RSEV branch. I can see you in an Akubra hat doing your videos. Like me, your head would need it on our sun 😅
great review - thanks. Have one on order - bring it on!
Was able to get one for an overnight test drive recently and took it on a 200 mile trip. My only gripes which I think can be solved with future software are the following:
- Ambient lighting needs to be brighter or have a separate brightness adjust for it in controls
- There needs to be a way to match the new speed limit when in autopilot. On gen 1/gen 2 model 3 you can pull down the right stalk and the autopilot speed will match the new speed or whatever offset one has set
Overall a really enjoyed it and recommend everyone test drive it because I heard way too much noise about removal of stalks being an issue but didn’t suffer once when driving.
Agree, I have had my highland for some days. My first Tesla. I want the car to match the speed of the road. Id3 and cupra born does that. Isn’t that a function!?
@@jockajocka it’s weird in Tesla I notice sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn’t whether speeding up or slowing down. I think maybe when in autopilot a long press on the right scroll wheel should change the speed to match the new limit. Hopefully it comes in a future update
@@Uchejnrthat sounds like it just might work
@@jockajockaJust touch the speed limit sign when in autopilot/cruise control.
Lol even my sucky ID.3 does this better then Tesla and Tesla says be so far ahead With software and i dont buy it 😊
I really appreciate your honest, no nonsense review. I’d love to update from 2020 3LR but I have FSD so will have to wait for a ‘transfer window’. The one feature I, and many others miss, is a speed limiter for round town driving. Sadly lacking.
Thank you for your review. I went on a test drive last week and this car is gorgeous!! Quieter and more comfortable than previous model. When performance variant becomes available to order in United States I'm buying it!! Stealth Grey black interior. First EV, super stoked 🎉🎉
If it's your first EV do you really need performance? The lowest spec accelerates faster than a 911. At which traffic lights do you need that? I'd suggest that's tooo fast for normal roads. I'd save the cash and spend it on FSD or acceleration boost on a standard range. Your choice, though. Whichever you go with, enjoy it!
@@garyrooksby
So after long consideration I placed my order for the M3 LR I went for a test drive today and the car was quiet, comfortable. It is very fast. I don't need a performance, I never go to the track, l don't drive more than 75 on Freeway, 50 on city streets and I don't want to worry about driving over potholes and ruining my rims and LR has better range. Glad I'm officially part of Tesla family.
Kinda trash they haven’t done the earlier models silencer. Sheep losers. Toke 107 years to make a difference.
Good to see you’re a Centreforce listener Richard! Locked in, locked on 😄👍🏻
I went to a tesla showroom and polestar showroom on the same day - tesla fit and finish and panel gaps are a whole class above the polestar cars!
Those Polestar cars look really nice, but there must be a reason why they have difficulties selling them.
Polestars are way better panel gap. Better build and something more special. A real car. For the real class people.
@@derjansan9564why they struggle to sell is because they don’t drop there prices like Tesla and fuck there customers in the back. That’s why the second hand value of polestars are way better. Polestars is a way better brand and keep there prices higher to make sure only the special class people. It’s not a mass production car company that want to sell 837262 million cars like Tesla. Polestar is focused on design luxury’s comfort and build and it’s a great build but they ain’t about dropping prices so everyone can have the car. They can’t drop the prices but they wont becouse then they fuck there loyal buyers becouse it means they will destroy the second owner value of the car and this is a part Tesla never think about. They dropped prices to almost 20,000£ over night in Sweden on the Tesla y and many of there other models also got dropped many times over 10,000£ and around that price. Polestar have never done that. They keep the same and go down in price about the years go on. Polestar isn’t for regular people. Polestar is like a Porsche but a EV Car Brand. And as the same as porch they ain’t focused on cheap cars for regular people. Same with Porsche, a lot of cheaper cars are better than a porch or close to it and it’s the same with Tesla and polestar. Tesla might be better in many ways than a polestar. But polestar ain’t focused on that part so no reason to go on about it.
I’m a Volvo owner (S90) considering a change for an EV. I already have experience with Tesla (although I didn’t see personally the newest Model 3) and I will test drive both Model 3 and Polestar 2. Let’s see which one am I get
@@iuripires7285 good idea to see both for yourself. Tesla efficiency plus charging vs Polestar should be worth observing.
Great information and thanks for the review. Loking forward to more and also the RWD review.
ELON MUSK are you listening to this man. There's "just" the 80,000 followers, but many many more who are appreciative of a truly honest review of your products and your greater aspiration to convert the public at large to electric transportation. That was yet another great video Richard, it was you personally who sold me on getting a Tesla and there's been no reason to change that.
We appreciate valuable advice from a knowledgeable and trustworthy vendor. He won't say anything to just get a sale. If Richard thinks a car's not right for you he'll tell you. Their cars all sell within a week so if you don't buy a particular car someone else will very soon thereafter so he's confident he can give honest advice to make happy customers who will be confident to return when they want to upgrade.
Such a valuable review only yours are true real world. I’m a few days and many miles behind you but finding the same with the rwd - brilliant overall package. For those pondering highland the stalks, shifter and vision are non issues. Panel fit, gaps and paint are up with the best but s/w trumps all especially voice commands that really work
always good to hear other owners agree with my own opinions and validate it as a balanced review
I had the pleasure of test driving the Highland last week. I love it. Even the button indicators work well although I admit I stroke the missing stalk as I pulled out of the Tesla car park. One point I could not get my head around were the 2 icons on the speed limit sign. One was the beep but I couldn’t figure out the triangle. The other control I had to stop several times and eventually used TH-cam was the autopilot selector now being the right scroll wheel. I’m afraid it will be a year or 2 before I can give up my one year old M3LR to move to a Highland.
Richard is one of the best EV reviewers, doing real life test, similar to Bjorn, not hunting for views and trying to be too funny, but down to the point, great job. I would buy my next car at RSEV but no company like this in my country
Thank you for such kind words. It has to be kept real and I decline many offers to advertise as that's not what it's about.
I'll probably end up buying a used model Y and I'll probably drive 200+ miles down to see Richard to do that. He has my trust. I met him last year at a Tesla event and he's a lovely chap.
That thing about the sill and dirty trousers, you’ll find it covered on a few crossovers and suvs, I’ve never seen it covered on a regular car though.
Yes, another episode!!
I test drove one last week when I took my RS EV supplied Model X 100D (Swansea) to get the suspension squeak fixed after a huge pot hole and the New Model 3 is really nice.. the suspension is super smooth compared to the older model and the Y. Getting used to the "no stalks" took about 5 minutes!
Nice update, and intro for folks unfamiliar with Tesla
This is a great review. Thanks
I drove the new Model
3 on Saturday. The single motor version.
I own an ICE BMW, and am testing EVs as I prepare to get my first electric car.
I’ve tested lots of EVs including BMWs, Audi, Nissan, Smart, Toyota, Polestar and Volvo.
I liked some, and really disliked others.
But, the new Model 3?
To be honest, it was ridiculous just how much better the Tesla was compared to all those other EVs. I mean, the gap is huge. The only reason to consider one of the other brands would be if they were hugely cheaper to lease, which most are not. Some are even more expensive to lease.
It took me maybe two minutes to get used to the steering wheel button indicators. And the single motor had all the performance I need.
Anyway, I won’t waste any more time with further test drives.
Glad you liked and sounds like switching from ICE 👏
Great review, Richard!

Fit and finish is superb, UI is very intuitive and ride and comfort is excellent.
Your review is very fair, considered and balanced, well done.
No stalks = no issues.
I don't have that change in speed limit chime here in Australia so maybe it is a UK requirement for new vehicles?
Well done and congratulations, and yes that chime is a European regulation thing apparently 🤦♂️
Richard you can’t turn off the speeding warning because it is a new regulation in Europe it is mandatory on all new cars. 😅
But it's isn't a new car. It applies to new models not existing models that have had a facelift
@@danuk2005 it applies to all new cars (2024 model year). In Tesla specifically from new Highland.
@@JRCarReviews
I must have dodged that one then, my Highland is a MY23.5 build.
Great review, your obviously impressed
Brilliant comments on the stalks and parking sensors Richard 👍🏻👍🏻⬆️
Hi Richard - the chiming sound is now standard in all new cars and a bit like stop start in ice cars it has to always turn on every time you get in the car. There isn't a way to have it always turned off. Hope that helps
Excellent Video....Will the Standard range model also have the Active Matrix software update, or is that just for Long range and Performance models?
15:30 RE the doors covering that area - I have a LR Freelander 2, the rear doors do cover this area. The water and muck gets trapped anytime it rains, and despite cleaning, paint bubbles have formed, weeping rusty water.
I notice on the M3 the actual door sealing area looks very clean, so from what I can see, Tesla and others have the right idea with that particular spot.
Another very comprehensive review. Whilst T3 won’t be for me, you can’t deny it’s competence and you can see why many have bought them!
The Dog mode is actually absolutely brilliant! It really makes a difference if you are a pet owner. Deserves some praise and attention!
Great vid, shocked you didn’t mention anything about interior light bar though
I was thinking one thing they can also use the rear screen for, to make it more useful, is if you're driving with friends/family and you're going somewhere, but they suggest somewhere else to go and you can't re-route whilst driving, they can search the route on the back screen, send it to the main and the driver can either accept or reject the route (just to prevent kiddies from messing with the routing)
Plus, I know from experience that parents like to know where they are 😅 having a map feature on the rear screen would be nice
And even more, if Tesla are going to the route of having them as taxis, can be useful for passengers as well so they can track the route.
I would think if you have passengers in the back, you have a passenger in the front. The front passenger can search things up and re-route.
@ymcpa73 this is very true. Additional scenario would then Ben if the person suggesting the new route from the back, would have to check that the correct location etc. It would be just as an additional input option 😊
I miss my 21 M3L the app as key was just the best thing.
Kudos to RSEV, some car dealers selling used Teslas could have been more negative in an effort to boost sales. But you have integrity and tell it as it is.
Good review. I was interested in seeing you get in and out of the car. I’m your size and the footwell and seats impression is also valued. I have a hard time with smaller cars and my winter boots. Getting older, the seating position is important. Hips and knee positioning? Thanks very much.
Looks sleeker now. More modern. However tis shame the sills are not covered. If Citroen can do it on the E C4 you’d of thought Tesla could. Good review. Looking forward to the next. Best wishes
Hi Richard, it looks like you’re enjoying the car as much as I love my new M3LR Highland too! Although, I’m wondering if you’re having the same issue with phone contacts not syncing across to the car? I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro but for some reason my contact list and favourites aren’t coming through. I wasn’t sure if you had this issue? Cheers!
Great detailed video I have had a model s model 3 and now 2022 model y all 3 have 1 problem you haven’t mentioned when driving alone all spare seat belts “rattle” my solution is to hook them over the headrests. Have noticed this?
great review. you're getting great mpge. Do you regularly charge it to 100%?
Question, how do you manually activate a once swipe of the wiper in the highland. I have a MY and the auto wipers can be a bit slow or not reactive to car spray. On the MY you just press the end of the left stork, you can do this with out taking your eyes off the road something I think is important when visibility is degraded due to the spray. Can you still do this in the highland, is there a dedicated wiper button on the steering wheel?
Really enjoying the series on the new 2024 model 3. Quick question related to the lack of stalks on steering column: how do you apply the parking brake in static traffic? Is it through the screen or a physical button on steering wheel? I haven't driven a Tesla before so am unaware of that basic function and haven't seen it covered in any videos. Thanks
Hi. Thanks for this I’ve been waiting to see what you say. And it’s all very positive. Can you help please 🙏 we’ve just ordered the RWD and I’ve seen MASSIVE delivery check lists for Tesla delivery day. Are they now over the top? What would you recommend checking on delivery day please? 🙏 Your channel has been very helpful in learning and making a decision on this car. 🙏🔥
I have a 2022 RWD and love it, over 21000 miles I've averaged 232 wh got another couple of years on my lease. Wish I had adaptive matrix as my previous Merc had but other than that :-)
Looking forward to seeing how Tesla incorporate the matrix headlight feature on the new car and possibly as rumoured the existing cars with matrix fitted led lights in those models. Cant talk for the new model but the existing ones do have full movement of the outer led sections with motors when adjusting them so will it be matrix plus beam bending? Do the cars old and new have self levelling? There is a lot of criticsm from some quarters about Tesla Lights but apart from being dumbed down perhaps in spec, when set correctly, (and often on collection they are not) they are not a problem and light up the road well. Anything that can further improve that would just be a bonus I suppose.
Nicely done. I drove a model s with 2 screens after the Y and i found it hard to focus between the 2 screens having just 1 screen is the best. I also love the roller ball controls on the steering wheel. They are so easy and work perfectly. It has taken a bunch of very talented engineers and designers to make these cars as wonderful as they are today. Bravo. It will be hard for Legacy to make a better car. I guess that is the point.....
Apparently the paint is still very thin and the corrosion protection is also not too good. Could you demonstrate wiper and high beam control?
I am averaging 220 wh/mi in a 2022 Model 3 Performance over the last 3-4 months. I swapped the 20” stock wheels for aftermarket 18s with the 235/45/18 Hankook iON EVO AS tires and that improved my efficiency dramatically.
Same here. Model 3 Performance, got 18 inch Martian Wheels, and Pirelli P-Zero All Season Electric tires that are 235/45/18 and my efficiency is usually around 281.
Test drove a RWD Highland yesterday. Much improved over my 21 M3 - ride comfort, sound insulation and the improved cameras. Tesla Vision seemed to work well. Gear shift on screen was not an issue and even got used to indicators. Kept my left thumb on left turn indicator when turning 270 degrees on roundabouts so not as much of a dealbreaker as I thought it would be. Overall a great car. Was wondering if the new 5 star Euro NCAP regulations due in 2025 might force Tesla to re-install stalks.
I’m waiting impatiently for the M3P to be announced, cannot wait to see what they do with it!
I have a the EXACT same car and I love it. BUT i think you (Simon) are a bit too biased, I think we all can hear it😄 I think it’s normal, but for the sake of reviews, I just wanted to call it out. Otherwise great video💪
Apparently I ”think” alot😄 Sorry, not my first language.
I love it. Your point Richard about a mini LED in the door handles is bang on. I have the exact same car as you and I flap around in the dark for the doors!
I also really like the quieter boot close sound. Hated the old beep.
So many folk throwing toys from their pram about the lack of stalks. It is not a problem.
My first car was a Citroen Dyane.
This (in all likelihood) is going to be my last car.
What a difference!!
Richard you mentioned in a previous video that is an evolution not a revolution, do you think hardware wise that there is any further step change improvements Tesla can make to the model 3 now in this price bracket, or is this essentially 'it' done, other than battery, and the inevitable chsbge in looks, about 2030?
Ive got a 2021 model 3, love it as its an excellent family car. The only thing i really wanted to see on mine was some mood lighting inside, as its super dark inside at nice. The screen in the rear is super cool, but wouldn’t have specced that if it were an option, as i don’t want my boys with their head in screens, but a wonderful extra somewhat for free! All those other bits are just tiny improvements in some way, but not game changing. Love Tesla and would buy another in a heartbeat
Actually the only negative i have, is the lack of under thigh support. I had a Lexus ES300 as a rental the other day, which was super comfortable. Shame the tesla seat lacks a little
Lots of aftermarket mood lighting you can add
I went to flash someone across my path yesterday and managed to indicate AND mute my telephone call at the same time instead 😂😂😂. But still LOVE my highland.
Did the other person blush?
Thanks Richard. That 4.5 miles per kWh figure isn't bad. It compares well with the 6.0 I managed on this cool February day in a ZE50, bearing in mind the facts that the Zoe is a smaller car and that I was urban driving.
Nice review, you mentioned at the end its quieter. Had heard was a lot more insulated cabin. How jave you found it on different roads? Both acutal road/tyre noise and suspension vibration into car.
Thanks for bringing this up. My 2018 M3 can be pleasant on smooth roads at highway speeds, but unbelievably loud when the pavement turns coarse. I hope they’ve fixed it with the refresh.
Looking forward to the standard range review 🤔
Took the SR Highland for a test drive last November - the performance & the sound system are noticeably worse than my LR - is it 10k worse - well probs not for that, but I like the AWD too - slimy roads here in Spain when it rains.
I didn't notice the suspension being a step change better, or the quietness of the cabin. Fit & finish however was markedly better 100%
Thanks Richard - can't believe you didn't get the Ultra Red - it's gorgeous!
Good video
Not read all the comments but not heard any reviews about how you can flash another driver at night without a stalk…!
Just ordered blue with white interior long range nova wheels. 😃 I’m so excited.
Great review. Currently have the 21 model 3 and need to change. Trying to decide between the Model Y vs the new Model 3. The drive of the new 3 as you have pointed out is great, but the higher driving position of the Y is making my decision difficult.
Excellent video!!!
100% agree lack of stalks not being an issue! I took M3 Highland for a test drive to specifically see how it fares with tight roundabouts. My approach was to always keep my left hand (righ-hand drive here) in the same space, so that I don’t have to hunt for the turn signal button. Even in tighter turns I never had to adjust my grip.
I would actually argue that the lack of stalks is safer in that regard, because with stalks on a tight roundabout you have to take the other hand off the steering wheel to activate the turn signal.
Thanks for sharing. There's a lot of push back about the stalks. We know Elon's (and Tesla's) mantra - the best part is no part. They've got their eyes on the whole steering wheel for the next gen car. Give it a few years and we'll be there.
I was getting out of my 2021 Model 3 and as I got out of car I push my elbow against steering wheel and accidently hit the turn signal stalk.
Nice! Sexy buttons gonna deliver stocks i near future😊 And for example you can program shortcuts. Like open doorhandle för 5 sek. The frunk opens😊 Nice!
5:15 Can’t understand why mine, also with matrix headlights as it project TESLA on the wall when doing the light show, hasn’t been included as it should do the same thing… It watches the camera and when it is seeing oncoming traffic zone out certain led area to create blacked out patch…🙈🙈🙊
I'm looking forward to giving the Highland a trial. It's going to take a day or so to see if the lack of stalks will bother me. It's not just the indicators or the drive selection, I use the light press on the indictor stalk if I want a quick wipe of the screen. Is there a button on the steering wheel for that? I did sit in a Highland at Tesla in Exeter and I was sure there was more rear legroom? I much prefer the new front styling treatment, its hard to figure out why they didn't look like that from the outset. All that said, any improvement on what for me is one of the best cars available is going to be very good.
Yes you just press the wiper button once for a quick wipe and longer to get into the wiper menu which you then set a manual wiper speed with the left dial on the wheel. Its super intuitive!
my equaliser settings are exactly in the same direction, but less extreme 😂 plus a little rear bias, as it super forward heavy default
I'm a delivery driver and got myself a tesla again in december, and yeah electric is just so much cheaper if you do the miles. When work pics up again I'll easily be making back half my monthly payment if not more just from recouped fuel pay where was in the ice car I used to drive I'd always be losing money
We use dog mode all the time, preheat is also brilliant especially on these cold mornings
You made no mention of the sound dampening. Is it quieter than the previous Model 3? Curious your opinion on this.
With all the chassis improvements alone I'd be ditching my old M3 asap for this. Cheers
02:25 no the speed warning isn't going to change. It's called ISA. Intelligent speed assist. UN/ECE is to blame..😢
Great video! In US, can get a 2023 M3P with $7,500 tax credit, this is not available for new 2024 M3 LR Highland. Debating which way to go. What’s your thoughts? I still like my MS suspension the best.
