    Been using EOS Utility for my M50 for awhile now but finally caved and got a cam link 4k to move away from the 576p resolution but im having some issues with the output ether randomly freezing or shutting off at the 30 minute mark. do you have any solutions since i cant seem to get the utility working via usb at the same time as using HDMI out ether.

    One downside to connecting over USB is it's a huge res drop over running over HDMI. Canon has their own webcam utility that's free and also removes the autofocus, but I found the picture quality versus running through a capture card was a huge drop off, think it's limited to 1024-something due to the bandwidth limitations of USB 2.0

    I can only get a 720p signal from the camera over USB as the interface is USB 2.0 which does not support the bit rate of uncompressed 1080p signal, why would I use such an expensive camera to stream in 720p? Is this something that people actually do? I have a $15 720p (upscales to 1080p) webcam that looks better than the 720p signal that comes out of the camera's USB port. Am I missing something here?

    We do a TH-cam channel of our travels. And I also stream on Twitch occasionally. For a microphone, I suggest a dynamic mic, I use the Rode ProCaster currently. Unless you are in a controlled environment a condenser mic is going to pick up environmental noises. I moved from the Rode NT1 and never looked back. Thanks for the great video's. Still love your channel, man. I tried Sparkocam with my T3i. While I can get full 1080p, I seem to be getting 15-20fps in the video, and nothing close to 30fps. The computer I have it connected to is a fast, powerful computer with 32gb ram and everything else pretty decked out. Have you experienced a slower, choppier framerate when using Sparkocam? It's hard to tell in this video. I would say Sparkocam is worth investing in, if the framerate was normal. But, connecting via USB (which is what I'm doing)... isn't giving me the 30fps. And I tried a USB 3.0 port as well... (don't know if that would make any difference). Thoughts? Thanks!!!

    A seems to be HDMI and B is SparkoCam? Or is it? 😅
    SC seems to be quite good anyway or how do you think about it?
    Isn't it basically a camera's “live view“? So what about for example the frame rate, is it really a 30fps or something slower? And what about the resolution?
    How does the video sync with your voice, is the video lagging behind or is it ok?
    Nice if you have time to answer and great info from you anyhow 👍🙌

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Yes, SC seems quite good
      2. The resolution is 1080p and yes, 30fps
      3. There is no audio coming from the camera. When you stream, you need an audio source - like a USB mic
      Hope I was able to help.

    Doesn't the EOS Webcam Utility Software enable clean live streaming with all possible settings like auto focus via an USB connection? Is this software newer than this video? Or am I missing something?

    Hi! I've just connected my M50 to Sparkocam (usb to micro usb) and there is a 2 or 3 second lag on the camera visual. I think I also experienced this when doing a window display via OBS. Is it supposed ot happen or is there something I can do to fix this? Many thanks! S.

    Purchased Sparkocam to use with my M50. Confused as to how you got it to recognize your camera under the 'Canon Camera' dropdown. The only way it finds my camera is with the Camlink... but then I have all of the issues of the menu items and autofocus. You mentioned connecting with an HDMI. How did you do that and still pull up that menu to make adjustments? Is there a particular cable? Micro HDMI to USB3?

      Hi. For sparkocam - I only use a micro usb cable. If it doesn't work - try a different cable. You need a micro usb that can transfer data and power. Let me know.

    This is what i don't understand... In order to use the Sparkocam, you must also connect the micro-usb from the camera to the pc? I have already Elgato Camlink connected to my M50, so... I should also connect the micro-usb + the camlink, or? But if i have both connected, it doesn't display the screen. But, when i remove the camlink/micro-hdmi from the slot, THEN the screen comes up... So, i cannot use Camlink? ... I am so confused and puzzled about this.

    Hi, thank you very much for these videos, very helpful.
    May I please ask your help. I bought the canon M50 and Elgato camlink 4k for live streaming, zoom meeting and prezi presentation. For some strange reason, the camlink shuts off after 1 minute so no camera feed to any of the apps. I use the micro HDMI to HDMI cable to connect the capture card to the canon, in addition to the USB cable supplied with the camlink. I have followed al your instructions in this and other videos but the camlink still shuts off after a minute. I wanted to check if this is a faulty camlink I have or is there something I am doing wrong. I suspect I need to change something on the camera setting

    Great video - We just got the M50 and Sparkocam. We are using Streamlabs OBS and I see two inputs for Sparkocam with the HDMI connected and USB. Both are not that great. There is also a separate Canon signal coming from the HDMI but it has the menu icons on it so I am assuming that is not the sparkocam. What input do you use in OBS to get HDMI signal.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much 🙏 I know there is another video out there saying you can use both - but that video is inaccurate. They were simply using the HDMI with manual focus (even though they misspoke and said that they were getting a better signal through the HDMI). There is no way to get a clean HDMI with the M50. So if you look at my video, I'm using the SparkoCam feed which is slightly worse, but better (for me) than using manual focus. I really hope this was helpful.

    • @TheFreedomProvider
      @TheFreedomProvider 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechGearTalk Thank you so much for the reply. That other video out there misled me a bit. I spent significant time trying to get a clean HDMI signal out using autofocus and SparkoCam. We may try manual focus or try to go the route of upgrading to a camera with a clean HDMI out. Your video was great though and very informative. Keep it up!

While streaming the camera goes off and the screens shows a colorful screen like if theres not signal, but the camera is connected tho. Is there any option to disable the screen saver or power saver while streaming? after 30 mn of use the camera goes offline, idk what to do.
