This is the best ratio of "production quality/eye for detail/useful information for new buyers" I have ever seen in a video. Great attention to sound which can sometimes go unnoticed (specifically with how the paddles sound or the various buttons). 10/10 video and 8/10 wheel

FYI, there's been some people posting about small mods you can do to give the thumb encoders more resistance; Probably not great for your warranty, which might be a thing with Fanatec.
Still, can't wait to get mine!
The 3 buttons on the bottom are in the middle mostly for Xbox/Playstation menu compatibility.
I just got mine via FedEx yesterday. The wheelbase won't be here for another 2 days (FedEx shipping and Fanatec package handling sucks). But I have been holding at times for an hour just to hold it. I have the APM paddles and have just been driving my gf crazy just clicking them constantly lol.

This is the wheel I bought with my CSW2.5. Almost got the BMW wheel but I mostly drive Formula and GT cars so spent a little more and got this instead. I have very few complaints about it.
I have flipped the left thumb wheel in particular by accident a couple times, but its been when my hand has come out of position anyway. The detents are very weak in those thumb wheels, but the flick in either direction works very well to alter settings 1 step at a time. The shift paddles seemed a little high for me. When I grip the wheel with my thumbs through the openings I the paddles hit my thumbs when I pull them back. Not sure what I'm doing different now, but this was only a problem initially.
Otherwise the thing is very solid. I did try rally cross with it, and its def not the wheel for that, but I still had a riot.
I do wish this stuff was cheaper, but when you compare to the next step up, its a bargain.
Personally i flipped the shifter paddles around so they're not as close to my hands. used the left on the right and right, left. So they could be further from my hands without changing position on the rim. Worked well, and now I have no complaints.
I'm getting my CSW 2.5 plus this rim, upgraded from a t300rs, honestly how good is this wheel base?
@@Cagefighter , I went from a G27 to the CSW 2.5. It's not imediately earth shatteringly different. You will start to notice a lot more feedback detail though. Its strong AF if that's what you are after, I use it at 60-80% FFB
Fanatec needs to make a standard wheel with the same amount of button/knob selection this one has. This would be especially useful for those using VR to maximize functions in easy reach in the wheel.
How do u turn on the leds on xbox one
I don’t see the gear shifts on my wheel display. Have the same wheel also. Is this game dependent?
I received my DD1, V2 Formula, and podium paddle modules a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it. I'm still figuring out how I want to map the buttons, but have found that the little thumb rotaries close to the hands are actually really useful for controlling radio volume and scrolling through certain menus in iRacing. I'm kind of disappointed that the LEDs for the flag status does seem to work during yellow, green, or any other flag statuses. Does anyone know if this has been updated or some way to get it to work yet? That would add another layer of coolness to it.
Will i get decals like pit....N....Drs.....etc decals in the box of formula v2 wheel??

It's a great wheel and imo a good price for what you get when comapring to other 600+ dollar rims I love the freaking grips if fnaatrc changed it I would be pissed they feel perfect imo it's literally what most like I'd the way it feels in the hand lol
Use it in ACC. Works really well. Thumb rotaries for brake balance and TC cut. Works well, but the rotaries are a bit too big for the space and can be rotated slightly by accident. Everything else, just fab.

Everyone’s review says the rotary encoders by the grips are too easy to move. I’m almost certain they’re intended to be used as flick rotaries, with 2-3 clicks meant to be for one increment, to be “flicked”. They’re not intended to be used as precise rotaries
I think if they wanted to put a flick-switch there they could've done that :-)
Hi there iv got this rim as well as the Fanatac wheel base, An my shift lights on both don't work on my Xbox, Is there anything I can do, Or is it a software nor a Manufactoring problem!

Maybe it won’t reach you since this video is 10 months old, but I recently ordered this wheel and I am wondering what would be the best gloves for this wheel. Is that Sparco gloves last long? Could you suggest some good alternatives as well?
I'm no expert on gloves, sorry. But I believe any racing glove with a suede like surface on the palm will do the trick. I got mine because they looked decent and weren't overly expensive.

The review isn't meant to discourage you. It's a good wheel and I'd buy it again. Just don't expect it to be the answer to all your prayers. I honestly wouldn't know of anything comparable to be honest, except the other two Fanatec rims I mentioned.
The Sim Channel Oh Im still going to buy it. I just noticed it looked smaller and was concerned about some of the button feel. You described everything very well and I still feel good about buying it. I love your reviews and as someone who is currently building a rig that I dont plan on upgrading for awhile, some of the choices Ive made are quite pricey and its great to have the info before purchasing 👍🏻

I did the same thing while playing games with my G29 for years. Thought I would never own Fanatec equipment. Every week, when you get your paycheck, just save like $25 and keep it in an envelope under your bed. After 52 weeks, you will have $1300.
I saved a bit more than $25 every week, but I literally just bought the CSL Elite PS4 Starter Bundle, CSL Elite pedals with load cell kit, Formula V2 wheel, and the APM magnetic shifter paddles. It cost me a little less than $1300.
I'm literally holding my V2 wheel right now waiting for the wheel base to be delivered in 2 days.
Fanatec sucks at sending everything together and FedEx sucks at getting shit to you on time. If I could go back, I would spend an extra $20 for 2 or 3 day shipping instead of FedEx Ground. They take forever and I noticed my packages just sat at transit hubs for 2 or 3 days at a time.

I can’t figure out if I should get Thrustmaster Pc racer as my next wheel, or go into the fanatic ecosystem.
Fanatec looks great, and have many wheel options, but seems pricy, compared to the value they deliver
Without having tested it, I think the Fanatec CSL line is good value for money, and a decent entry into the eco system. Thrustmaster also has good value for money, but the eco system stops in the mid range.

Choosing between this one and podium R300, im using mostly for GT racing. Any suggestion?
The main question is what size you prefer. For a GT2/3/E car I'd go with 30-32cm, but some prefer the 27cm on those cars as well. If you don't care about the size: The rim certainly has more buttons, rotary knobs and switches than you get with the UHX or P Hub + button clusters. But yeah, in the end you won't go wrong with either option -- I'd say listen to your gut for this decision. The one you *want* more is probably the right one for you. :)
The Sim Channel Decided and ordered podium R300, its bigger and more versatile in any way. I will wait for the podium F1 release. Thanx in advice
Need help got this wheel on the csl elite wheel base and nothing will work button wise
have you done the regular trouble shooting (taking it off and on again, making sure it sits right, turning the wheelbase off and on again, installing all the latest drivers and firmware, rebooting the pc)? If so and the issue persists it's best to get in touch with Fanatec support.
Does anyone know if all those rpm LEDs, buttons and rotary encoders actually work with the Xbox?

How do you replace the alcantara grips? Like do you have to cut your own or can you get replacements from fanatec?
You can buy replacement grips. It's a bit of a procedure though, they're not exactly made for a quick swap. Took me about 45 minutes the first (and only) time I did it.

I didn't know you could combine a Clubsport wheel with a Podium base!
You can use any wheel on any base. If you use a CSL Elite wheel on a DD base, though, I think the FFB is lowered automatically because the wheel connector isn't strong enough to handle DD FFB strength. At least I think i heard that somewhere.
I wouldn't know. My gf won't let me spend that much money on a DD base.

@@jounaas That is up to Microsoft. They don't have to keep up the compatibility, but personally I do expect them to, since they're opening up the Xbox brand, integrating it more closely with Windows, etc.
I am not sure if you are personally in contact with these hard ware developers but WHY are they not releasing a steering wheel for trucks? You know, with all the bits and pieces like an Indicator stick and engine break?
Yes, you can use this wheel you are promoting but this is really more suited to racing but other SIM games like Trucks, farming and buses are winning popularity as well ...and there is really not a lot available for these games..
The market is too small for a truck wheel, and anything but a direct drive wheel base is also too weak for large diameters. But you can get a pudium hub (or universal hub) and put on a 38cm rim for example.
I have always loved the look of this rim but its way out of my price range pity 😢
Hi, is this gonna work with PS5 ??
On the PS4, compatibility is created by sort of a "licensing" chip in the wheel base, and the wheel rim you put on doesn't matter. (It's the other way around for Xbox). How Sony will do it for the PS5 is not known at this point, but I would be "really" surprised if any of the wheel rims lost compatibility, and "somewhat" surprised if the wheel bases lost compatibility.
TLDR; I wouldn't expect PS4-compatible gear to lose compatibility on PS5, but it's in Sony's hands, and nobody knows yet.

Tomasz Michewicz it should when it comes out. Just download the software on your computer and there should be an update when the console comes out to make it compatible ;)

I like everything about the wheel except it's design. Those triangles on the rev meter looks ridiculious.
They def don't look very "professional" but they do still serve there purpose. They are large and quite easy to see out of the corner of your eye.
half a year ago i was so much interested in fanatec products ... I was ready to spend 3000 euros for their products - but i gave up.
To many reliability issues of their products, to much issues with connection pins, their service is not great also, they got overpriced accessories.
They make great stuff, but I can't denie that it is way overpriced.
I have a clubsport wheel V2, a podium DD1, clubsport V3 pedals, clubsport V1 pedals, a McLaren GT3 rim, a formula rim, a clubsport F1 2019 wheel rim, and three clubsport universal hubs, 2 of which have fanatec wheel rims on them, and a clubsport shifter SQ V1.5, and I have never had a single problem with any of them. When you look on youtube and racing forums you only hear about the people who have problems. The thousands of people who have bought fanatec products and haven't had any problems don't post because we are too busy enjoying sim racing. Any company that manufactures electronics are going to have some defective products. Its the same with computer parts, even the best companies have a video card, or computer, or monitor that arrives broken, once in a while. As for fanatecs customer service, I don't know since I have never had to send anything back.

Same For Me...DD2 HShifter V3 Pedals 3 different Rims...I'm happy with quality and happy to pay a little extra to ensure everything works together...But there are lots of less expensive options and you can be just as fast with anything you want to be fast with

@@iVTECInside I bought Club Sport base, pedals, steering wheel and shifter as bundle couple years ago - after first calibration one of the buttons at the steering wheel stopped working week later, i had no choice but to buy another steering wheel while mine was at service ---> one month later when i wanted to change wheel to test the repaired one ... one of the pins which connects steering wheel and base just broke and stuck in base... that's my experience with the Fanatec company.
I was almost ready to spend 3000 euros for new Fanatec system DD2 but then i wrote "Fanatec Reliability" in google there are hundreds posts about reliability issues. Through years posts like "broken steering wheel", "broken pin" etc etc. is very common and there is no end to them.
If only it wasn't red. I hate red. dealbreaker
