- A few weeks ago now I put together an unboxing and initial impressions video for the newly released FANATEC Formula V2 wheel. Overall I was very happy with the wheel, but I highlighted that I would have liked the thumb wheels to have a little more tactile feedback.
I mentioned in the video that I would probably end up getting sued to it, but felt like it was important to be completely open and honest in my initial impressions video.
Since then I've spent around 20 hours using the wheel, so in this video I talk about my revised impressions having now gotten used to the wheel.

The thumb wheels on most F1 cars are for diff and brake bias traditionally which means they should be kinda soft but still sturdy.

Would love to see a review in VR with this wheel, or wheel comparison, to see how easy or difficult the buttons can be found with a VR headset on and advice on button assignment in VR.

TheSubieFan all easy to be honest. Harder is the right encoder because i barely use it
Some people commented that it is too small and makes it hard to control the car for long periods of time compared to the cheaper fanatec mclaren wheel. But this one has so many buttons! :(
I like the way the leds flash in sync when you drive down the pit lane it looks so cool. Ive ordered the mercedes liverie for my wheelbase and wheel.

Yes and you can decorate them and make them look even better. There is a french company that does stickers for all the F1 teams, but if i mention who, they will remove my blog.
that rim is stunning bloody cheap Thrustmaster stuff just looks rubbish by the side of that :(
Very true one of the reasons I just chose fanatec and I'll tell you what I'm happy I did luckily I'm not used to thrustmaster equipment so dont have to worry about the switch over
Yet again, another piece of equipment I have thanks to you. I have the Formula V2 also with it's Advanced Paddle Module. But waiting on the Podium PS4 to arrive. Then I will attach the two and test them out of the new Fanatec Direct Drive for PS4. So thanks again and keep up the good, informative videos.
There is a french company that does fantastic stickers to decorate you wheel ,they do most of the F1 teams .

I think your "flick" issue/ thing can be addressed on the wheel tuning menu on the last item on the list...and is how those encoders function....

is there a view where you do not have to look at the wheel or drivers hands to make it feel more real?
Unfortunately not. You can disable wheel animation but can’t hide the wheel entirely.
you can move camera forwardtill wheel disapears.

Rubberised Coated Plastic. I believe it’s metal on the newly announced F1 2019 Limited Edition wheel.
@@boostedmedia Thanks! That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out right now. If the 2019 F1 wheel is metal, I'll get that, but for now I prefer the V2, especially that I'm not just playing F1 games, but more GT3 type cars... The silver theme really doesn't appeal to me on the 2019 wheel though.

I find it very strange that the 2.5X is not shown on the AU store. Do you have any idea why? We only seem to have the 2 and the 2.5 which is available next Jan.

Yes but a lot of the buttons and rev lights won’t work on the Xbox one sadly. It’s still a lot of fun on the XB1 but it’s severely limited.

Yep exactly the same except the additional flag LEDs work on 2019.

Yeah I used it a lot for F1 2019. Imo it’s one of the best wheels for it. The thumb encoders are brilliant for manual ERS and Fuel Trim control.

How is the led flags in RaceRoom after the fanatec new sdk was implemented last month? (All wheel functions/features should be now fully working at least in RaceRoom?)

Need to take the line and braking assist graphics off - seems to be distracting; IMO its harder to see beyond the apex to setup the approach angle with the assist graphics popping up.
What is the device /screen sitting on top of your base ?

Why do you hold the gear for so long?
Not used to driving the merc in GP mode + in Aus it’s faster to hold 7th than shift to 8th on the main straight.

This wheel something that i have been wanting for so long, but poor me can't afford one. Maybe someday.

I have a G29 and it is my first ever wheel, and I've had it since January 2019. I only use it with F1 2018 on PS4, because I don't have interest in racing other racing games.
Is it really worth it of upgrading to a fanatec wheel? I love G29, but many people have told me that I'm really quick in the game, and if I wanted I could go pro and maybe eSport in the future.
And if u recommend me to upgrade to Fanatec, which wheel do u think I should get? It must be said that I only play on PS4.

Ehr you dont Shift in Gear 8
It's 0.3sec faster to not shift into 8th on the straight in Melbourne. Better compression braking into turn 1.
Did you get the podium paddles yet, if so are all the buttons mappable? I tried to use them in F1 2018 and they wouldn't map at all, only the middle one would. I'm using a PC...Thanks.

Those platforms don’t support the functions. It’s a limitation of the platforms themselves.
Are the rotaries assignable in Raceroom?

@@kcjive More immersion with the harness. Alcantara does feel nice, but you can screw it up easily.
The seatbelt holds your back to the seat like in a real racecar. Without it you tend to drive with your shoulders a lot more and steering is less precise.
