This is the most detailed and the best review of the settings on a Fanatec wheel. I must say this is my go to video when I first got my wheel. Keep the hard work Will.
Awesome video! Very helpful walkthrough for those of us new to the CSW wheels - especially your insights on how different contexts lead you to push some settings one way or the other. Keep up the great work!
@Boosted Media I want to send a big THANK YOU for this video, I was not enjoying ACC at all and had a hard time setting my CSW up, It changed the whole experience for me in ACC, I understand wheel settings ALOT better.
About Constant and Pulse, it's 12 unique positions on both, constant sends the current position constantly, pulse sends it only shortly when the position gets changed.
Thanks man, now I understand a lot better what every setting does. I have a CLS Elite PS4 and your settings just work perfectly also with F1 2019! I struggled a lot finding the perfect settings but yours are simply perfect, it feels like a new game and way more enjoyable. For anyone else using a CLS I just raised the in-game Strength to 65, to compensate the difference in power between the CLS Elite base and the Clubsport V2.5.
You are the best! and everyone looking at him listen to what he says no one else. I took some advice from another guy. Well remember what Toyota says don’t let strangers in you settings. Kudos.
Best video on the topic i had ever seen thank you,,, you made it all clear.... keeep up... will YOu make the same video with CSL elite on F1 2019????? SAluti dalla SWitzerland!!
Regarding the MPS settings In Enc mode, the game sees a rotation to the left as a press and release of one button, and a rotation to the right as a press and release of a different button. In Const and Pulse modes each position is a separate button on the controller: the left-hand switch is button 37 in pos 1 through to button 38 in pos 12, the right-hand switch is button 49 in pos 1 through to button 60 in pos 12. In Const mode, the game sees the button as permanently pressed while the switch is in that position, so if you switch the right hand switch to position 2, the game will see that button 50 is constantly being held down. Move it to position 3 and the game will see that button 50 has been released and now button 51 is being held down.
In Pulse mode, as soon as you change the switch to a position the game will see that button pressed and immediately released. e.g. change the right hand switch to position 2 and the game will see button 50 is pressed then released. Hope that helps.
I've got to tell you, I've spent a lot of time watching all your videos. I own a small computer business. LOL, it supports my Sim Racing. I really enjoyed watching you build your sim rig. I've been doing the same. I ran into some really tricky problems that took at long time to sort out. I've spent around $12,000 with all the trial and error. Just two weeks ago I had to switch out my motherboard, CPU and RAM. My PC has two water cooling loops. CPU is cooled by a Corsair H115i Pro RGB, My Aorus GTX 1080 ti is cooled with a custom water loop that uses 40 oz of water. 6 ft of cooper tubing that is chromed on the out side. over 2 ft in fittings, a full EK GPU water block, a 200 ml Pump/Res combo, a 700 ml Res and a cooper 480 Radiator. 16 Fans, 8 inside the case and 8 out side the case. Might sound like overkill, but I race Project CARS 2 and use three 24" 144Hz LG Monitors. All setting to Max, and fps set to 144 my max CPU temp is 38C and my max GPU temp is 48C.
“In AUTO mode the steering wheel decides which mode is appropriate for the game being played. In Encoder mode the MPS simulates two buttons, one when you turn the MPS left and one when you turn the MPS right. In Constant mode, the MPS outputs a constant button signal for each position. In PULSE Mode, the MPS outputs a specific button signal for each position which is only sent as a single pulse when you move the switch.” -Chris Bruney quoting user guide, found in fanatec forums
Wondering if any of the settings here have changed for you with F1 2020. Great video and great channel...you've become one of my go-to's as I am in process of moving off Xbox..building first PC now, and just got the Fanatec Formula wheel, base and pedals. Thank you!
thank you the info helps a heep fanatec gear is kinda hard to setup [coming from a T300 wich was plug and play sorta thing] your vid on the brake performance kit also stopped me from snapping the wire in the pedal when I was putting it in fanatec need to hire you to do guides for them :P
Thanks mate. TBH I’ve been trying to get a reply from their sponsorship team for 7 months. But paying for the gear myself gives me the freedom to be completely unbiased with the videos. So I’m not too worried. A DD2 to review would be nice though. Lol.
Indeed a good informative walktrough. Thx! Would be nice if you could also share your ingame ffb settings for sims like DR2.0, R3E, ACC Also nice simgear! Something on your wishlist? Add a NLRv3 motion. Works perfect!
Man, very cool ! You have the video updated to f1 2023 ? have something changes at codificador ? Mult Functions ? pulse, constant...and others? please help us !
Thank you for this. Now playing on f1 2021 and your settings are awsome. I personally like a bit more ffb and lower the fei. Otherwise beautiful settings. Thank you for this and please do one for f1 2021.
Why is it so hard to find videos like this? This is amazing except I have the McLaren GT3 V2 and it's 5 years later. My tuning menu looks a bit different obviously, but I can't find anything else out there that goes through it like this. Do you by chance have an updated video?
Thanks for the great vid..again! Hope i didnt miss it, was prepping dinner during watching, but maybe a next time would you explain the led-flag settings for the f1 wheels? 😊 Cheers 🚦🏁
Hi Will, now that you have started using iracing, how close do the settings you described for F1 2018 transfer over to iracing, I have a BMW wheel & 2.5 wheelbase but still, after 9 months usage, I still haven't found the sweet spot in iracing (I only use iracing)
It’s a very common issue I’m afraid. Seems to be caused by spikes in CPU load but Ive never found a fix. Doesn’t happen on my 9900k machine but used to be really bad on my 8700k.
The statement that when you buy a new wheel you have to do it all over again is wrong, only if you update the base firmware. Settings are saved on the Base side, the wheel only accesses and show it, also it doesn't change the setups when attaching another rim. You also don't have to press "enter" it actually does nothing at all.
Interesting. FANATEC told me the settings are stored on the wheel itself. Not the wheelbase. But what you’re saying is consistent with the behaviour I’ve observed. Although updating my firmware didn’t erase my custom settings.
Nice and informative video! Few notes: Sen is not going down to 9, its going down to 90 minimum (so 45° in each direction). Spr is not working in F1 2018 - its actually not working in any game on PC afaik. Dpr is directly related to the Wheel Damper Setting in F1 2018. Pulse means you have 24 different buttons (12 buttons for each MPS) to configure and the wheel sends a short pulse signal instead of a constantly pressed signal. For example you can map your Black Boxes in Iracing to them and Position 4 would then for example mean Black Box F4. Vibration and Force Feedback Strength is recommended to set to 75 which is pretty much the maximum point to not get clipping. Understeer effect in my opinion is totally unrealistic and should definetely set to off... ^^ Totally distracts me..
@@boostedmedia thank you very much !! I am thinking to change my new gt3 fanatec porshe wheel for this one, due i race in vr and it is imposible to me reach the buttons in blind mode jeje, they are very separated... what do you think about it?, is this a good wheel for vr? It is confortable?, i am worry by the 27cm size, but honestly i feel the 32cm wheel a little big to me in corners due i came from a Logitech wheel.
This is very useful and well explained. Thanks! I wonder whether you've made any changes in both settings (wheel and in-game) for F1 2020? It would be very helpful to know. Any suggestions?
Just be aware that when you update the firmware on your wheels - it erases your settings. So you need to use some method to preserve your settings independent of the wheel.
My understanding of the encoder and pulse settings is that in encoder mode the rotary switch is effectively 2 buttons, one up and one down no matter the actual switch position. In pulse mode each switch position is a different button, but instead of a constant button press it only sends a pulse when you select a switch position as if you pressed and released a button. I had an issue trying to set buttons in ACC that it would immediately set the function to button 38 because of the constant button press. I had to set it to pulse so that the game would not always see that a button was pressed and held.
My PS4 Pdoium F1 wheel’s Break Force setting is backwards of yours. Lower number requires less pressure, higher number equals more pressure. Perhaps it’s just the newer software (as this post is a year after you made this video)?

Hey great channel and content. can i ask is getting a f1 wheel benifical as i have the bmw gt2 wheel and thinking of getting the f1 2019 limited edition rim or not really? many thanks
That’s a tough one. The F1 wheel has a smaller diameter which makes quick adjustments easier. Plus the additional buttons are invaluable if you want to be able to change your ERS/Fuel while driving. Ultimately it comes down to cost but I’d definitely recommend it!
Boosted Media thank you I'm on the fanatec site as you replied argh I can't make my mind up lol I think I will as the BMW rim is but to big for f1 2018 thanks so much for your help. And I watched your vids before moving to fanatec only got my setup 2 months ago

Yeah i just figured out 😕 But for f1 2019 it will be fully compatible! Except for the upper paddles in the advanced paddle module for the moment. I hope the make an update and make them compatible
I'm having an issue in Assetto Corsa where mid-corner the wheel get's super heavy and wants to rip itself back to center. I can't seem to narrow down which setting to correct. Any advise would be highly appreciated. I don't seem to be having the same issue in AC Comp. Asstto original is especially touchy.
my formula v2 has some different seetins, or somethings have changed since this video, like the order of settings, the brake abs is now called "BRK.LVL", and the fact that i dont have "BRAKEF"
Also keep in mind many of the features such as wheel vibration SHO (forumula v2, bmw, 918) are not supported on Xbox yet. Button mapping not supported and rev lights.

Xbox handles Force Feedback differently so you’ll probably need to do more tweaking.
Also keep in mind many of the features such as wheel vibration SHO (forumula v2, bmw, 918) are not supported on Xbox yet. Button mapping not supported and rev lights.
Really, I just need to just start saving for a PC. Argh. Was going to wait for F1 2020.
Qualche vidieo con istruzioni xil setting di questo volante in n esiste???
I have the clubsport v2 and v3 pedals. I don't have the brake fade option. Is this only a 2.5 feature?
Brf is only available when you connect the Pedals directly to the wheel base and not via USB.
This^
My wheel doesnt turn as game wheel. Second one is slower and animation ends at 360 degrees, but im turning 450. Why?
Check your sensitivity setting.
Damn this was a while ago

Do you have your pedals connected via USB instead of via the wheelbase?
Boosted Media well when I tried to connect them to my wheel base using what I believe is an rj12 connector the pedals weren’t being picked up by any software :( but weirdly working fine whilst been connected through the usb, Thankyou for the reply!
