In fact, it isn't "too hard".. You have to pratice it so many times that you just memorized it without any effort... Think of thoses shity pop song you keep in mind xD (Curiosity, how many mistakes are in this sentence ? xD)
It honestly is not that hard, or one can say that's a prequisite to be decent violinist? Probably not perfect and might blank out on some of the less interesting portion, but you practice so much (39 hours a day), it just became muscle memory. Hell, I still remember fingering of some of the violin pieces, and I haven't touch an instrument 3-4 years.
Virtual Sheet Music Hillary Hahn is on the show somewhat frequently and even though they are always expertise with violin music and seem very good, she always stands out when she plays against them.
Her tone and clarity is just unmatched. I've gone through multiple soloists playing this piece and Hilary's interpretation is just in a leauge of its own.
I remember when my violin teacher told me I look like her (physically), and he tried to encourage me to dedicate professionally to play the violin. But I always knew violin wasn’t my instrument. Tomorrow I’m singing ‘Una voce poco fa’ with a symphonic orchestra ❤️ In the same concert a violinist will be playing this solo too. I hope everything goes on well 🤩
I remember us playing this freshman year high school in the chamber orchestra. I came in as a pretty good viola player, maybe 3rd or 4th chair. The senior 1st chair violinist played this as her senior recital. I was floored, literally had no clue a high school student could be so talented. That was my first wake up call that there are levels to music talent

She cuts through the music like a hot knife through butter. So smooth, almost effortless at times with this stoic and blissful face that would make the angels cry... I hope I can see her in person one day.

When the rhythmic theme the orchestra introduced just as the cadenza began, turns into this beautiful ostinato with really fast portato sixteenths at 9:10, and the orchestra returns is my favorite part. This is a beautiful concerto played perfectly by Ms. Hahn. 😍

I was a violinist w/ the Chicago Civic Orchestra decades ago. As I look at the score along w/ her playing I was amazed. She phrased melodic lines so beautifully that weren't evident on paper. This is a truly musically gifted violinist. I also admire her expressionless stately composure on stage. She's a Michelin 2 rating violinist. I concur w/ a comment that adding a score to the video adds a new dimension of experience.
When one can simultaneously listen the music and watching the score one admires much much more the artist and realize how much it's necessary to study and to practice to reach this level of excellency. Great super Hillary, magnificent orchestra and superb conduction by Maestro Jarvi.

Never played a instrument in my life but just understanding how hard and how much work goes into being able to play the violin at this level leaves me in amazement. I might be wrong but I believe you have to be born to play the violin to be able to play at this level and that’s only half the battle, you have to put in years and years of work and practice.
Genes play a role. But I think an even bigger role is early exposure to music. After reading the biographies of many composers and violinists, I have noticed that so many of them had at least one musical parent. Given that neo-natology has shown that unborn babies can hear sounds, I am wondering whether this can translate into some neurological advantages for a pre-born child exposed to musical sounds, which become apparent post-birth.

Her bow control is just unbelievable. She uses such little bow but creates such a powerful sound without putting much effort. For me, this is the PERFECT Violin Concerto (if there is such a thing). Mendelssohn was on beast mode when he composed this Masterpiece. I am sad he didnt compose another Violin Concerto.

I read a great article on her early violin education, and the writer mentioned her habit of carefully polishing each section before moving onto the next. That may be part of the explanation.

The end of the cadenza where the orchestra joins in is possibly my favourite part in the movement.

Her bow control is just unbelievable. She uses such little bow but creates such a powerful sound without putting much effort. Didn’t anyone notice that she played an octave instead of a single note at 1:11? That was so amazing! I found that out from Ray Chen’s video called the Mendelssohn showdown. But my favourite part was the fast passage at 4:48.

For me, this is the PERFECT Violin Concerto (if there is such a thing). Mendelssohn was on beast mode when he composed this Masterpiece. I am sad he didnt compose another Violin Concerto.

I read a great article on her early violin education, and the writer mentioned her habit of carefully polishing each section before moving onto the next. That may be part of the explanation.
I know, thanks to the score I can see she is very precise and true to the articulations. Her bowings are just beautiful.

The orchestra started so slow, but can see Hilary pushing it back to her normal tempo within about 10 bars.
This made me go from falling out of love for the violin to wanting to be the greatest violinest out there
