We went to a small private concert given by a recent graduate of New England Conservatory in Boston to thank his sponsor. After the concert, I looked around the room of about 30 people and there was Hilary sitting in the back. She apparently is/was a mentor to this young man and came to hear his recital. She didn't play but I got to talk with her for about 5 minutes. She is as wonderful a person as she is a violinist. A dream come true.
While walking the streets of Frankfurt on my vacation last April I came upon a kiosk that had posters of the artists at the Frankfurt Symphony. Smiling down on me was the face of Hilary Hahn. It was like she was thanking me for coming. I just think she is fantastic and I thank her for making all of our lives better through her gift of music and especially when she teams up with the Frankfurt Symphony.
Thank you for posting this. We won't be hearing much from Ms. Hahn as a soloist in the near future because she is presently dealing with an overuse injury. I'm sure we all wish this revered artist a speedy recovery.
I've listened to performances by many violinists, but Hilary's Carmen is my favorite. She doesn't rely too much on technique, she has a nice intonation, and the melody line really stands out. She also expresses the seductiveness of Carmen.
What a gift from heaven we have in Hilary Hahn!! ❤ Her technical ability is matchless! I personally love her dresses that bring out her powerful presence on stage.

Have you ever noticed that conductors really dance throughout performances as brilliant as these? The Zimerman / Bernstein Beethoven piano concertos are great examples too. Best job in the world!
@@NareHarry yes indeed. Conductors show body movements that are most of the time the same during every rehearsal. This way the orchestra players will learn what to expect during concerts and practice for!
My first exposure to this exceptional artist was years ago at some performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, in her early years. I was fortunate to collect some CDs with her autograph, which I treasure with great appreciation among my souvenirs. What an unpretentious gem who stands tall among those🎆 highly blessed with exceptional talent!

I have learned to appreciate different interpretations of the greats. It’s hard to put into words how I’d describe this interpretation, but it sounds like the piece is more “thoughtful” than some more bombastic renditions.
@@nickcarroll8565thoughtful is a great way to put it! I definitely associate this era of Hilary’s career, her post-sabbatical efforts, with thoughtfulness. I think she really started to embody an “aged wisdom” within her music where her reflection on music itself as it relates to the heart and soul became very evident. Very thoughtful!
I keep coming back to this and comparing it to others, I just realized what I really like (in addition to all the obvious Hilary stuff 👍) is the tempos!! 😳 This can really sound frenetic sometimes and this is just spot on for me!! 👏
