I’m about to start learning this, and it may be the most daunting movement of any concerto I’ve ever attempted. It’s going to be rough but DAMN this movement will be such a triumph!! 😍 so celebratory!
I learned this movement a long time ago and it took a lot of work, but if i managed, I know any truly committed player can. I hope your Mendelssohn adventure has been successful and remember that banging your head against the wall every now and then is totally normal 👍

In mo yang, Roman Kim, Midori, Vengerov, etc. At the highest level none of them make any mistakes. You should just say you prefer Hillary because at that point when nobody is messing up it's just about whose playing you prefer to listen to.

@@pena1950 Sure, some people would find the third movement more difficult and others less so than first movement. I mentioned awkwardness because that's what makes the movement difficult for me. I am not sure what you mean by consistency, (technically or musically?) but in general if a piece has similar techniques throughout, (i.e. more consistent), it doesn't automatically follows that the music should be easier, if the techniques are difficult ones.

This piece was a little easier than the first movement in my opinion. It's much more consistent.
i played both movements and I disagree. The bowing and fingering in the third movement is much more awkward.
