    The quality of your tutorial videos have been fantastic! Well thought out and thorough while also succinct. I love the scientific approach you've taken to this and the texture video, with only changing one variable at a time. So great to see all these cap lines side by side.
    I'm taking my own art to the next level at the moment and experimenting with a wide variety of cans and caps. One thing I'm wondering, (can cover this in a video, or answer the comment) how you maintain your caps and cans as you start to grow a collection. From cleaning the caps after each use to replacing them entirely after each painting session or even just using a select few caps and swapping them onto each can as you go through a painting. Really curious as to what experienced artists have found as effective methods.

      Hi JT, Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to leave this great comment and fantastic feedback and question i really appreciate it :) I use the same cap on each individual can until it blocks up , then i replace it with a new cap, but after each painting i do, i just clean the cap around the nozzle where the paint come's out hope this helps

    Great video again very helpful 😃. I bought some the caps to try 😀. Atm the ones I'm using are spraying but leaving drips I've tryed scraping the dry paint it off with the knife but still get drips , can I wash the caps under warm water to clear them ? Or will that wreck them ? Or should I just buy more ? I Didn't know about the differen't pressure cans I'll need to get some low pressure ones , when I was spraying it's was leaving small puddles of paint when I was trying to make star lines . thanks again

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Allan, Sorry for the late response, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the question I really appreciate it :) What caps are you using which are dripping? Washing them in water won't work as spray paint is water repellent, Nail polish remover with Acetone in it will work tho, I've tried it and it worked well, you can also scrape the paint off that builds up around the nozzle, that will also cause some drips/spitting if the nozzle is not clean. If you are leaving small puddles of paint when doing things like the lines on the stars you are pressing the cap down to much which lets more paint out, next time you try doing them try pressing the cap lighter that way you will have less paint come out and then it won't pool :) hope this makes sense :)

      @@JonBarberArt Hi John , no probz . That's great thanks for that yeah all makes sence , I actually watched your tutorial video about the different caps so I bought a heap off them and been finding the drip not so much and ive been wiping them after using , but I'll definitely try the nail polish remover as well . Had a wee practice at the stars today as well was still getting drips but I'll try the less pressure on the cap next time . Thanks very much great help John 👍

      Hi Howard, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and question it's very appreciated :) No i don't do that Howard and never have done, i just put them back on the shelf when i'm finished with them, and when i use them again i just clean the cap off before using them again, i never had no problems with the cans doing it that way :)

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No Problem Howard, Happy to help :) Yes if it's all mixed up then you most probably put a bit to much paint down but you'll get used to how much to put down as you do more :)

    I have been using the Montana Gold Stock Cap, and I am having issues with drips. Is it something I am doing wrong or do you recommend switching caps? Which caps do you normally use?

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Kurt, Thank you for the comment and question it's really appreciated :) Do you clean the caps before you use them again, like around where the paint comes out? I normally use skinny caps but there's always a chance that you might get drips if you don't clean the caps after using them or before using them on your next painting hope this helps :)

      @JonBarberArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lee, Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment and question it's really appreciated :) It's also nice to hear that you enjoy watching my video's :) You definitely need black and white and for colours choose the one's you like :) maybe 8-10 different colours , you can always mix 2 colours to make a different colour , for this tutorial series i have around 10 different colours but won't be using them all at first, for the first few videos it'll be black and white and a max of 3 colours as you don't need that many colours if you are just starting out hope this helps , If you need any more help just ask :)

    Do they make female caps that have different spray patterns like the male caps in this video???
    i don't know where you are but here in the US the over the counter spray paint cans from major brands like rustoleum and krylon all use female caps, i wished they used male caps as i have on occasion knocked new cans off on the floor which broke off the male tube coming out of the can leaving me with full cans of paint i can't get the paint out of.

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Abruptly, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) Almost all the different brands i have used which is over 20 in the UK all have male caps apart from 1 which was car spray paint, So i'm not sure if they do make female caps with different patterns like the male ones in this video, Sorry, But if they are clogging try phoning the spray paint company you are using or e-mail them and ask if they sell or can send you some replacements caps for the ones not working :) I'm not sure how you would go about replacing the tube in the cans tho, but you could try pulling the broken one out, then if you have a male cap try that on it to see if it will spray or not, it might work it might not but its worth a try, hope this helps :)

    • @dernify
      @dernify ปีที่แล้ว

      There are several places online that sell a variety of female caps for male cans like Rustoleum or Krylon. Some specialty paint shops also sell adapters that will allow you to use male caps on male cans.
