    The white ring around the wet one is actually pretty realistic, planets in space that have atmospheres would actually have that rings around it

    Nice definitive example of the differences between the two methods. I agree that sometimes the dark side can be slightly "backlit", depending on what you actually want. I like the "dry" method best, for making planets. If you want to back-light the dark side of the planet, then do it deliberately. Very nice. Both planets look great - better than I thought they would be, in the beginning. Very talented painter/illustrator, you are.
    I agree that patience is the key to better work.

Thanks very much for your answer

    This makes so much sense. I’ve seen people use a lighter and spray paint to dry out the paint, any reason NOT to do that other than safety?

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Hydriden, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment and question I really appreciate it :) Fire drying is more of a show thing for when you are doing it live, it's like a wow thing to the people who are watching, but it can also set your painting on fire if you get too close to it with the flame, it can also be unsafe if you are not sure how to do it. If you are unsure or don't feel confident using a flame then don't do it, either leave it to dry naturally or you could use a hairdryer hope this helps :)

    Don’t get me wrong but I agree with Jovonzell. The white ring is actually realistic looking but I can also understand where Jon is coming from I do art work on procreate and if you don’t do it right it will look horrible wrong and it takes hours to fix. But the one in this video turned out really great.

Sure I can hydro dip, I can print and apply graphics on stuff, and I'm not too bad at hand brushing some things (plus I've been an automotive collision tech for 43 years so I have been around paints and know how to paint stuff). But THIS is TRUE art! Can't wait to learn more! :)

    Ok so super awesome tutorials btw! What would have happened if you made the planners in the other order though?
    Start with the one that needs to dry fully first, then add its lid stencil, then proceed to spray the wet one and then move to the background while its all still wet instead of letting it dry with the lid stencil on.... I feel you could have gotten different results.
