Wow!!! That looks amazing. I have a panel the clear failed on. Want to sell the truck. This would be a perfect deal for me. Body shop wants $800 to do it, but?? I'm going to give this a try. I'm really interested in doing it now seeing how pro results are possible. However you are a pro lol I'm not. But anything close to this is way better than the sun burned look it has now. Great video. I subscribed!!!
wow brother your presentation goes to a new dimension..let's move forward ... sharing new discoveries and experiences..I'm a Sri Lankan ... congratulations to you
It was great. You have a good spray paint, we have it here, but it is not of that quality and it is very basic. Thank you, I follow your videos and recommend them to my friends. Be healthy
Nice to see a job most people can have a go at themselves. Fair play it looks spot on pal. Hope you’re not holding overdoing things and are keeping well. 👍
Hi Gareth yeah just wanted to add something a little different into the mix for the diy guys , and no mate taking it easier from now on but I’m all good now
Tony ....Just had a poor colour match whilst using Direct Gloss in a Spray can.... panel was painted about 24hrs ago.... how long do you have to leave before attempting to spray with a fresh mixed can?. Concerned that i have gone way out the window of applying a further layer?! ... what would be best grade of sanding paper to give a decent key? Many thanks Jon
For anyone watching this to learn how to diy, one thing I'll stress is the importance of the rattle can itself. Unlike a gun, there's no adjustment. If you get a crap can it'll come out crap. Some don't even have a fan. Just a round fan. Get your rattle cans from a decent place. Good work again Tony.
You're never going to get a professional job out of a rattle can but for somebody at home needing to touch up a small repair area this could easily suffice quite nicely (DAMHIKT). Thanks for being open-minded enough to show an alternative to a pro...hopefully you won't lose any business over it :D
See I’m old school in a lot I do but at the same time I like to try new stuff and pick the best option , now I’ve got the hang of the compound and head combination on the da I have to say the da is as quick it puts less heat into a panel and leaves no swirls
Great demonstration of alternatives for people without all the needed equipment. What psi did you use to spray with rattle can for base? How many turns out for clear on the nozzle? LOL As always, thanks for sharing.
Had to give this a second look after the chat last night, have to say mate it came out pretty good and the finish is better than a lot of bodyshops could do with the proper spray gun setup. Do you think there was a better turnout last night? seemed to be more people watching and there was a few more on the chat window, hope my ramblings didn't scare them all off 😂 look forward to part 2 mate 👌👍
Lol another view always helps atm mate and it’s Not doing too bad I guess but views accross the channel have dropped this last month by over 30k which is disheartening tbh but hey we plod along lol
Great video yet again! especially for people looking to do this kind of job at home. Not relevant to my skill set but thought i would watch to give you the view comment and thumbs up for the support.
Thanks man and no mate I went at it like I would with a spray gun just two full wet coats mate as best I could no tack coat as it’s not for a huge build so didn’t want it messing with the finish
Yes same method mate but if your not using 2k paint drying times will be a lot longer between coats and the final finish will be a lot less durable on it
Wooow Tony factory finish lol 😂 i really enjoy watching that video Tony and that base coat boy o boy it look like a LS-400 that applied it hands down haha 🤣 thanks 🙏 for that video Tony you always hitting us with some new style keep it up much love 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🤙🤙🤙🤙💪💪💪✊✊👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊
@@TonysRefinishingTV i've been using their blue wool one and they are really good aswell, used to have a thing against wool until i used the rupes one.
It looks like more work coming my way after the DIY guys watch this lol, i had two mirror backs this week from my local mechanics shop where they tried to paint them and f"""ked up. At least they had a go i suppose but it cost them twice a much LOL .
Lol that’s why I always say in the beginner series mate you should buy test panels to play with not trying on cars till you know it’s right but that’ll never stop I don’t think
Hello Tony So the other day I was blending on a panel and everything seems alright to be honest. The only issue I found was after spraying the clear coat. So there was like a line where the new clear coat was meeting the ood clear coat. How can I avoid such a thing from happening again. By the way I've used j tape no edge blend. I'm thinking if I use fade out thinner on the areas that new and old laquers are meeting would sort out that issue? Thanks
Ah that’s where the issue will lie then ideally it needs to be done on a swage line so it’ll loose the join , you may be able to flat and polish the edge off and buff it up mate but I’m not sure otherwise yes use some fade out and don’t go all the way to the tape
It would mate but by then this panel will be long scrapped lol it’s been through a load of bake cycles wash cycles and alsorts before I shoot part two to compare it to a properly painted wing to accelerate the ageing of it
What is wet on wet i no nothing about And is there a reason you spray from bottom going up to top? Instead of top to bottom? Too bad you don't recommend for whole vehicle Thats what I wanted to do thats why I watched this
Spraymax as far as i know is filled off with mipa 2k. They do and will hold there shine. And have a propper uv resistance. Longevity.. yes. When you have it mixed on collor by a company that does carpaints. Its the same quality. But in a rattlecan. As you allready mentiont at the start. So youre speaking a little with 2 tonqeus there. Anyway. I think the average diy person doesnt sand and buff it up. And when you have a little more confidence in youre spraymax.. and painted rattlecan style instayd of spraygun style( wich is not fully the same) the orange peel doesnt even had to be there... i know from experiance with these cans...
Even a rattle can is genius in the hands of a master. Well done!
Great video. This has definitely given me the confidence to go ahead and start my very small project
Great video, Tony. Did you ever do the comparison video between rattle can and sprayer?
Bill
Thanks Tony thought you might have a video on this, I'm doing a front wing tomorrow, hope your all good mucker
Great videos man. Gives me confidence to work on my car at home. you should do a video on a smart repair/blow in with rattle cans.
Great demonstration of what can be achieved with rattle cans. Nice one.
Thankyou

Wow,that's a nice job for aerosols, learning so much watching your videos, excellently presented too. Thanks
Thanks buddy

Wow iv been tempted to do my lower front bumper with rattle cans as its battered with chips so i think it would improve it loads
Your welcome mate hope it helps
@@TonysRefinishingTV helps loads mate iv painted wheels and stuff with rattle cans so had a rough idea but that makes me want to do it 👍

Lol I won’t be buying anymore of those cans trust me lol 😂
Very interesting thanks. Am learning a lot from videos like this.
Your welcome
Cracking job mate was the panel just a test part or was it part of a repair job? Keep looking after yourself buddy Rob
Nah man just a test panel we use on training days
It's a superb video that's answered a lot of questions us DIYers at home need to see well done another great vid
Your welcome mate hope it’s helped abit in some way
Great demo tony quick question polishing buff or da polisher for flat in polishing pannels after work as old school diy prefer the buff
See I’m old school in a lot I do but at the same time I like to try new stuff and pick the best option , now I’ve got the hang of the compound and head combination on the da I have to say the da is as quick it puts less heat into a panel and leaves no swirls

Lol that’s good man abs thanks for watching bud
You mention the longevity of the paint, how is the 2k in the can any different to 2k through a paint gun? Thanks.
the propellant the thickness different chemical makeup ect theres a few differences
Explained and showed it very well Tony 👍🏻
Thanks Chris
Great video. Can I ask, why not 2k base coat? I hate cellulose paints. They never set hard. Can always dig your nail in
This is the same base in this can that I have mixed for spraying it’s proper solvent base
Had to give this a second look after the chat last night, have to say mate it came out pretty good and the finish is better than a lot of bodyshops could do with the proper spray gun setup.

Fantastic job looks the business! What do you think of the 1k lacquer or is that only for a small repair?
Personally I wouldn’t use it as it has barely any chemical resistance so it’s no good for most jobs
Great video yet again! especially for people looking to do this kind of job at home. Not relevant to my skill set but thought i would watch to give you the view comment and thumbs up for the support.
Hey Daniel abs thanks buddy appreciate you still watching even though in a way it’s not relevant to yourself , true viewer right there man 🙏
Great video would be great for fuel tanks and small parts
Great finish Tony, how many coats of clear coat did you use 2 or 3? And would you advise a tack coat?
Thanks man and no mate I went at it like I would with a spray gun just two full wet coats mate as best I could no tack coat as it’s not for a huge build so didn’t want it messing with the finish
Thank you Tony for the video came out good for a rattal can stay safe
Thanks and you too
Nice video Tony, it does give a novice a little confidence that a diy job could turn out pretty well!!
Thanks Geoff just thought it would be something people might find interesting
Made that look simple tone,
Done a great job, how long did you wait between coats, and what about if not using 2k paint, is it same method?
Yes same method mate but if your not using 2k paint drying times will be a lot longer between coats and the final finish will be a lot less durable on it
@@TonysRefinishingTV
Cheers tone 👍
No problem mate
tony when you paint a wing or a bumper with base coat or clear tony do you have to cut and buff it
sometimes mate most of the time just the blend area
To say it was a rattle can mate! That’s a good finish. Better than mine with a pro lite ahhaha
Lol 😂

Hi mate what sort of da would you recommend for flatting/polishing and general swirl removal for reasonably price. Thanks
autobright direct ones mate very good but not silly money
This is brilliant Tony man... Love this... Lord Almighty bless you buddy. Peace 💖👑🙏😍🙌👍✌️
Thanks Bruce
Great video as always Tony, what pad are you using on da polisher? Looks like a rupes blue but not sure
Yes mate the rupes heavy cut blue da pad best for cutting by a long shot
@@TonysRefinishingTV i've been using their blue wool one and they are really good aswell, used to have a thing against wool until i used the rupes one.
Yeah there will ones are good I just found they didn’t last as long as I’d like tbh

I’m not a massive fan of them myself mate but if you get the right stuff I guess you can make a decent job of it like we did
Hi Tony great video, how long did you leave between coats?
About 5-10 mins on base and clear mate
@@TonysRefinishingTV cheers Tony. 👍

Was the tape applied on a swage line ?
@@TonysRefinishingTV no it wasn't because the clear was peeling off a bit below the swage line so I couldn't apply the tape on swage line

Good job pal nice job
Thanks dale
Thanks for the video Tony
Your welcome mate
Thanks mate👍
Why use 2000-grit sandpaper? I thought SprayMax clear coat had low orange peel.
How long do you think this would last? Being 2k in a can mate?
On the panel do you mean or in the tin?
@@TonysRefinishingTV sorry yeah on the panel I mean I know it would be longerr than the 1k lacquer cans that are rubbish.
I should think it would last mate but that’s the one thing I’m not sure on or can be sure on tbh
@@TonysRefinishingTV ok thanks mate
You didn’t mention the ideal temperature and the recommended time wait between spray coats ?!
Both would be on the can specific to the one you buy
great job as always
Thanks
Great video that mate 😎
Thanks Jason
Looked great
Thanks man
New haircut suits you 👌👌
Lol my post lockdown haircut finally have normal hair again
Thanks you
What is wet on wet i no nothing about
And is there a reason you spray from bottom going up to top? Instead of top to bottom?
Too bad you don't recommend for whole vehicle

Not sure fan spray nozzle is good for blending
it probably wouldnt be the best
