I always think the intricacies of naval combat has never really been replicated in any video game except very dull single player simulation games. Management of sending out specific airframes away from your ships and where they go, surveillance missions, submarine hunting, sending out long range missiles and gun strikes, etc
This does look very interesting. Seeing the games based on the Cold War doing “what-ifs” with NATO and the Warsaw Pact are always cool. I’m a sucker for the post Cold War ones like Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Red River where it’s the U.S. having different flashpoints with China.
Yes! Finally someone else remembers Harpoon (and the Amiga 😉. God I'm old 😂) I'm going to be breaking out my old tabletop Harpoon game and using the scenario generators from it.
I really want a dynamic campaign for this kind of game. Would love to upgrade and add ships in a fleet by doing progressively harder missions. Or a full campaign like victory at sea pacific or dreadnoughts.
One of my first PC games was Jane's fleet command, I've been dying for a game like this for nearly two decades! I can't wait to spend ungodly amounts of time tinkering with missions in the editor, oh the ridiculous engagements I intend to cook up😁
So glad Microprose was resurrected and making sim games again, this looks fantastic! Also looking forward to another game they are working on, The Mighty Eighth VR. Now if only Maxis, Sierra and Westwood Studios could magically come back as they were.
Wolfpack has put up a few videos of this game. Apparently he got a pre release version or whatever. That’s not important, but what IS important was watching him play through a few different types of missions and one that he created for himself. Looks to be a VERY cool game indeed !!!
Mods and the sandbox scenario editor are what give games like this legs that last a decade or more. Glad to see the publisher making wise business decisions. I’m definitely their target audience
