Available in Early Access, November THIS YEAR!
Finally, I have been following this game for years, soon to be here. I like this period of history from a technology standpoint, lots of cool new technology but the human is still an integral part of everything.
Not a minute too early
So excited! 🔥🔥🔥
Waiting 4 years for releasing. By watching video, i must say, that developers have made a good work.
Fantastic news
Mission briefing to destroy coast positions but do not fire until fired upon is the most Vietnam era Rules of Engagement I've ever read. +1 for Realism.
Other then the Mig 17's immediately pegging a Destroyer. Rough day
@@GeriatricBullFrog Gotta love ROE, lol
For extra realism, go near some fishing boats, get the deck pooped on by seagulls, shout at the radio that you're under fire. Convince Lyndon Johnson that you can fire back at anything at this point.
I call this, "The Tonkin Technique"
@@paulthenotsogreat8118 Johnson didn't need convincing, he would have used anything he could spin as an "incident"
I was in the British military back in the 80s when terror attacks on bases and personal, sadly, wasn't uncommon and I recall our Rules of Engagement in one of the countries we operated in didn't allow for return fire under any circumstances!
No way you got your hands on this early. I've been following their devblogs for MONTHS now.
Me too!
Try years! (4) 😂
Four friggin years here. I never thought this game would release haha.
Same. Since nearly 1 year by now!
Added it to my wishlist 03/01/2021. I've waited so long for this
Jane's Fleet Command for 2024? Hell yeah, dude!
it's been 84 years...
@@YukarisGearReviews lmao nah, only 25!!!
I love that game, the only thing I missed is ground battles, but it is a fleet command so no surprise there
What do I do with my overused Fleet Command then?
US ships with signal flags that spell out Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo on one side and Yankee Echo Alpha Hotel on the other side. Checks out LOL
I'm crazy excited to see they have the Kidd class in game. I served on the Callaghan DG 994. They're an interesting class of ship. Iran ordered 4 as upgraded Spruance class destroyers and designed them to be very good AA platforms. Iranian Revolution happened before delivery so the US Navy kept the ships.
Until the Aegis cruisers came along they were the best AA platforms in the US fleet.
Neat, cool info!
ROCS Su Ao
@basecoat1966, Mk26 launchers and the ASROC octuple launcher and a couple of Mk45 gun mounts, and rounded out with a pair of Mk32 ASW tube sets, and a pair of Seahawk helicopters make for a dangerous target. Then they added a pair of CIWS 20-mm GG and put the Standard missiles and ASROC in a Mk41 VLS.
@@frankwalder3608 Yep the Spruance hull was designed to be modular. Went from the Spruance with the ASROC and Mk45 fore and aft to the Kidd class with a Mk 26 and Mk 45 fore and aft to the Aegis cruiser with a VLS and Mk45 fore and aft.
Served on an Aegis my second ship. USS Mobile Bay CG 53.
Both were good ships to serve on.
I've been following this game for YEARS now! I cannot wait for this to release.
YES! EARLY ACCESS! FINALLY! THE SECOND IT COMES OUT IM BUYING THE GAME! I LOVE YOU VULCAN!!!
Sometime in November is the release date I think.
@@alexsp7086 thanks so much, I'll check if it does release during November and when it does, I'm going to have one hell of a time playing it
those MiGs are scary accurate with those unguided bombs lmao
man i'd have been like eff the ROE. mig17s = open fire with all the things!
Should of never got that close undetected. They spotted them by visual meaning None of the ships had their search radars active checking the sky and sea for potential threats... in an active warzone. Also would of helped AA targeting to more accurately engage.
@@UNSCSpartan043 Commander's intent detailed in the brief states that all vessels will remain radio silent. EMCON said no emissions including radar so they were basically ordered to get bombed. (good officer in command would've had the Sterett's air search radar on and left the rest of the group silent.)
@@pxatm Yeah and that made no sense to me. I get a don't fire unless fired upon and I would even understand if they were running silent but still had just one like the Sterett doing regular quick search sweeps and staying silent between just to check the area versus full zero emissions. Just seems like a stupidly HUGE risk to 4 very valuable ships and crew in a warzone right by enemy controlled territory.
@@UNSCSpartan043 Honestly in 1972 it doesn't make sense to be weapons tight next to Vietnam at all. They probably just didn't expect anyone to be reading and following the briefing and copied the lower section from a more reasonable mission for those orders.
Multiplayer would be beneficial in Sea Power, imagine being able to relegate parts or functions of the fleet to your friends to manage, or make asymmetric vs scenarios or dynamic Coop campaigns, I really hope they add support for mp
I've been subscribed to your channel since the early days of steel division normandy 44. Really nice to see you uploading a preview of this game that I've been following for quite a time now. Kudos!
@@hakkafuter Appreciate it!
That's gonna be the next game footage features as "news" on national TV.
Mig 17s? In 2024? North Korea flashpoint!
Haha, that's more than a compliment than anything.
Been keeping my eye on this for ages, glad to see you get your hands on it and looking forward to seeing you show it more
Been waiting for this since Harpoon in the 90s
LMAO how every MiG hit the target perfectly. Nice Showcase!
I've been looking forward to this game for a long time! It looks great, we'll finally have a new game like Fleet Command.
this is the first ive heard of this game but im instantly extremely hyped. I hope you make sopme content on this game when it finally releases
Oof that wing clip at 8:20 - poetry
First, Regiments and now Sea Power? Oh man. This is gonna be a good time.
A surface action group that close to a hostile coast would have all of its air search radars lighting up the sky looking for bogies. EMCON condition makes hardly any sense in a scenario like this unless you're in a heavily used commercial shipping lane under cover of darkness and able to blend in/hide.
Looking forward to November! (and surviving against November Class SSN's)
One of my dad’s ships was the USS Galveston. He was a fire controlman on the Talos/Terrier missile system.
Looks like CMO/tacview reveresed and made easier like war on the sea. I guess my pov is somewhat accurate...😮 no tracking stations task before the blasting which is cool
I’ve been following the same since the first trailer 4 years ago. I’m so happy I’ll finally be able to play it this year.
I hope there is a feature to maintain heading and use for instance just the forward facing guns instead of the ai turning broadside to fire
really cool concept, if they put work into animations and immersion this could be a banger
Great video. I've looked forward to see for so long, as it looks better than I imagined. Cannot wait!
This is great. I hope microprose makes it easy to mod it so people can add units, ships, planes, missiles etc... or even mod the entire game for like ww2 or modern day.
They plan to add workshop support. I’m not sure if this is just for custom scenarios, but likely modding. Don’t worry though, if they don’t people will mod it anyway, just like cold waters lol
As a long time player of Harpoon series, I am particularly excited with the use of massed Tu-22 against NATO fleet
Been waiting a long time for this. It's like fleet command.
Love it ! Played Janes' Naval W. a LOT when i was younger...
Jane's fleet commander 2.0 love it .
I've subbed to so many channels in the past 3 days because everyone be making these previews.
ohh my god is it finally time?? i've been waiting for this game for YEARS!
Cant wait for this me and my best mate used to talk about it all the time he passed away in Feb wish he would have had a chance to play 😞
Really sucks that this game doesn't have a "time on target" tool yet, so that you can sync your missile attacks so that they hit at the same time instead of (uselessly) spread out over minutes.
Looks fantastic. Great review Vulcan!
I hope we get to take command of battleship-sized vessels like the Iowa and Kirov.
Iowas would be a beast in shore attack missions.
I've been kicking around in Cold Waters DOTmod but I seriously can't wait for sea power, been looking forward to it for so long.
Looks awesome. Can't wait until release.
Thanks very much for this! I've been waiting impatiently
I've been waiting for this dream game for years, can't wait for Nov.
You know, I was content reading the devblogs and getting some short video clips and a few screenshots every month or so. I've been spoiled now after getting a 26 minute gameplay video -- it's going to make it harder to wait! Not sure whether I should be happy or angry... 😁
It will be good to see how well notching and multipathing are implemented in this game, or if it's just a straight RNG roll. Even games like DCS and War Thunder have *huge* problems with their notch and multipath code
This is Jane's Fleet Command from the 90s. Even the voice track is the same
Looks very nice. I´ve played Fleet Command 25 years ago
Did you play Time Warner Interactive's "Aegis: Guardian of the Fleet", or MicroProse's "Task Force 1942"?
Fuck, I just used my mobile data because I got excited about the early look and forgot
Are we finally going to get something resembling a successor to Battlestations: Pacific? That is not a F2P PvP arcade game?
I've waited a long time for this game
Is there going to be a falklands war 1982 scenario or campaign ?
Great introduction to the game !
So looking forward to this game!
It seems to have some promise, but the problem I had with their submarine game was that there really was very little explanation in how systems worked or why, and it got a little repetitive with the missions and AI. Then updates basically stopped once they started work on this, when arguably they could have expanded on the existing game.
The updates stopped on Cold Waters because Killerfish split up.
Serious question: How did Sterett engage those MiGs while in EMCON with no air search radars turning?
@Gurglioni Your ships can use tracks and information from other ships I believe.
*right clicks on ship*
ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL
really excited for this and the modding potential; still doesn't *quite* scratch the itch of a missile-age Rule the Waves game, but I really enjoyed Jane's Fleet Command and have been following this for a bit
8:21 I saw a parachute, I wonder if they modeled downed pilots in the water like Fleet Command did............
I'm so excited!
Man this looks like cold waters team, loved playing as the sub commander but is this the same dev team?
The ship's active sonar should act as a homing beacon for the enemy torpedoes. Can the ship's torpedoes then intercept the enemy incoming torpedoes ?
Omg can’t wait for this…
Is there any news whether or not sea power will be moddable? looking forward to some more modern ships and scenarios via modding
It will be moddable.
Damn, this game looks amazing!
oh my god this game is gona be good
13:00 Pretty sure that ship would be sunk or at least dead in the water. What were those bombs, Vietnamese laundry baskets?
You should use the Sterett's 5" gun more, especially on patrol boats. Stop wasting AA missiles on patrol boats! Save those for the aircraft. My question is, will the game allow a player to create their own ships and/or their own scenarios? The after-action report states the FRAM2 USS Thomas was undamaged, but it did take damage from the two bomb hits delivered by the second Mig17? You could even observe the holes in the starboard side of the hull, amidship.
This game looks dope as fuck
Perfectly timed just saw the trailer.
Dangerous Waters, Fleet Command, glad they making this kind of game again, this niche game, small gamer but if good can play it for years.
Looks fantastic, really excited for this game :)
You also could have called in CAP or something from Yankee Station =)
This is looking amazing!
Do you know if there's going to be an open world sandbox option? Like the Cold Waters DotMod custom missions with random ship spawns. Or a mission creator like in DCS?
Looks amazing
Not the biggest fan old cold war era naval combat games, but absolutley looking forward to this........sily question, is there a ww2 game like this style of genre, or just cold war era
So, it's not just 80's? You can go back to the 70's? And there are several countries? Can one recreate the Falklands war?
A Malvinas/Falkland scenario is a must
Preventing the sinking of the General Belgrano would be nice.
i have been waiting for so long
Good first look.
Wish this had coop.
Since you got a beta version it means that it's not long until the release version will hit steam.
looks awesome!
I know that this looks like and further development from Cold Waters, but the game looks 4x better with multiple controllable and commendable units, plus theres ground targets other than buildings
Game looks good. Only thing needing improved on is accuracy for your ships. The AA guns and guns to attack stuff on land is WAY too low. Other than that looks pretty good.
Wow! Could that ship go any slower? What is she doing? 0.5 knots?
@@dudeonyoutube You can see how fast a selected ship is travelling on the bottom right.
@@VulcanHDGaming That doesn't look like 19kts
@@dudeonyoutube The game is running in slow motion at the beginning of the video, you can see the time simulation speed in the top right corner.
Any Royal Navy units? Would be cool to setup Falklands scenarios
Need this for consoles
In that mission you have also a carrier, is way out on the map
Fun fact. Dong hoi actually means east sea in chinese.
It's Vietnam, though.
You forgot to use the aircraft carrier…
@@jackmcfann The aircraft carrier isn't present in this version of the mission.
It looks like a remaster version of Fleet command
heh, there was no warhead kg data for the sam missile you showed ;p
It reminds me of a game named Tyconderoga that I've played decades ago.
But now that I watch more I'm kind of disappointed to see that apparently they haven't modeled any damage model for the ships. I mean they took 4 bombs and got zero damage to their hull, or systems. Propulsion not affected, radar, telecoms, fuel, weapons, everything works like nothing happened.
For those that know, a 50kg explosive can really mess up a ship hull, let alone 250 or 400kg bombs.
Also they used radar to detect coastal guns? If only....
Yes a radar could detect a land targets with reports of PIRAZ ships in Vietnam being able to detect Mugs starting their engines at their Airfields.
@@gotanon9659
Not a ship radar, an airborne radar may do that, sometimes, with a full moon, in the desert, with zero ground interference, no trees, no hills and nothing else .
Vietnam era "reports" and claims were notoriously fake, often use as PR stunts more than anything.
There's no way you can detect anything on ground, especially occluded by buildings and vegetation and terrain, using another ground or sea radio signal, not to mention the ground clutter alone makes anything below 15 meters almost impossible to detect
At best they can detect the planes after they took off while they were climbing to the mission ceiling.
Another glaring issue with the game is the use of an radar guided AA missile against fast moving boats and the assumption that Vietnam era radars and missiles were just as accurate or better than the Gulf War ones.
The AA missile accuracy against high speed low altitude Migs is also doubtful. Early and mid Vietnam era missiles had an abysmal accuracy and a pathetic interception rate.
Cool! Are there any Hot Keys? I can find clicking every thing for commanding a task force will get annoying after a while.
Wishlisted! Instant buy! Looks super well done game! Looking forward!
I'm pretty sure that the mig-17 would have no way of knowing that radar guided missiles are being thrown towards them
You're right! I thought the same thing while watching. The baseline MiG-17 didn't have any RWR; some upgraded models (-17PF) had onboard radar for target acquisition or intercept roles, and a Sirena-2 RWR. The Sirena-2 didn't warn about incoming missiles though, it warned the pilot about enemy jets behind him in gun range.
@@ataraxiaholy Except ad-hoc in country modifications exist..
The First USAF RWR was basically a commercial RWR strapped into the cockpit
"We need to be a bit careful about the fishing boats. Dont wanna shoot them." Thats not the american way of naval warfare, or any warfare on that matter :D
i've never seen you in my life. but now ive subscribed to you. because well first i was watching wolfpack. secondly i love this game. thirdly (highest priority) this was a great video to watch.
I don't see how the destroyer is undamaged after getting hit with several 250 kg bombs.
@AceDupuy Luck I think, sometimes they burst into flames 🔥
@@VulcanHDGaming I guess they were all miraculously dud bombs. Talk about TH-camr luck.
I saw another video he had a carrier or maybe he edit it in idk
Is it just me or does the UI look almost identical to DCS’s
