I respect that he showed that you shouldn't spray clear coat on Plasti Dip. Instead of just trying to sell something he showed its not a good idea. Because of that i think i will buy some and use it on some of the things that it is good for. Nothing like honesty. It's almost extinct in company's now days. Again Good Job On Your Video.
Cant wait more dip volumes. This has got to be the biggest help of any TH-cam video. I am a true do-it-yourselfer and this channel makes me a better do-it-yourselfer. thnx.
I absolutely love plasti dip! I've dipped the emblems on my mustang along with my interior accents.. I like it better than real paint because it's durable looks great and can be removed easily when your ready to change the look of your car
the reason I use it is because it protects your paint, rocks on highway will hit it and it will help protect your actual paint. and pick what color you like one year change the next year.
I literally just finished plasti dipping my 06’ Ford Focus. Spraying the Plasti Dip was very easy to spray, if sprayed correctly. However, like the guy said in the video, spraying the clear gloss coat over the plasti dip makes it much harder to peel off. I am very happy with the look of my rims tho. THANK YOU DipYourCar!!!!
1. How good does it do as a paint shield? I. e. from road debris or weather effects. 2. Is there clear plasti dip? 3. what is the longest you kept plasti dip on your car, how often do you need to re-dip the car if you want to keep it plasti dipped its entire life?
Excellent video, I'm in the middle of restoring a yamaha dragstar and was in two minds about what to do with the body, after watching this I think plastidip is the way to go. Thanks, keep up the great work
I love plasti dip, I can paint stencils & remove it off the stencil. also it dries so much quicker than my paint, that there is no paint stain or residue on your hands, & can be rushed a little for the next color & touch up with a painters brush. Magic for me.
What the guy is trying to say is... That one saying "Once you go black you can't go back" (or whatever...) does NOT Apply with Plasti Dip! You can go black and go back to Brown, White, Yellow, and so on... xD
Exelent. The paint in my car started peeling and fading in the hood and roof. This gave me a really cheap solution to that problem. Really excited to start my project
Sprayed 5 light coats of plasti dip on my white mid sole. Wanted them black, looks amazing and i don't even need a finisher. They have not cracked/chipped or anything. Sneaker paint is useless, but this stuff is a winner. What a unique product for those who like to customise sneakers.
Shoulda mentioned keeping it dipped can maximize resale value because the paint and clear coat underneath will still be like new, and corrosion can be mitigated. I would like to see how well plasti-dip would protect the under-side of a vehicle through the years in cold climates on a brand new car. If I ever bought a brand new car, I would most certainly want to protect as many parts on the under-side as possible.
Chris Armstrong It's a bit late for the 2002 Dodge Dakota I bought a couple years ago. That thing is rusty as fuck! I'm going to do the body in truck bed liner.
the people who say that you ruin that car are really ignorant hey man its fun and you can change a color without any problem and when you want to go back there's not problem. which is awesome keep doing what your doing your job is awesome
Does plasti-dip have any acoustic benefits? The material has the appearance/feel of a light rubber coating. I'm curious, will this work like a vibration damping product? Have you done a tap test to see if panels resonate as loudly after several solid coats of plasti-dip? Thanks.
I read somewhere that it actually does reduce noise by absorbing the vibrations. I don't have a better answer than that but even though it has the word plastic in its name the bottle states it as a rubber coating
I would assume it would only benefit acoustics if the door jams are heavily coated. I don't see how it could help much on the outside of the vehicle, but who knows.

Isn't it permanent? 8:10 Why? Why are you PlastiDipping your car? Why would you do this? Please tell me why!
i just dipped my badly scratched rims which wouldve cost $2000 to restore with 70 bucks worth of plasti-dip cus Fonzi makes such brilliant videos. Keep up the great work and thanks heaps!
I plastidipped some parts on my car (front grill, and rear trunk badges) went threw -40 weather, salt, and all the crap, about a 100 car wash.. still going strong!!i'm impressed
Well i can tell you that I have my rims plastidipped and we had a harsh winter in PA and it survived and still looks like the day i dipped it. I absolutely love it.
Divya Singh That's exactly what I want to do ...Plasti-dip my winter wheels. They lasts about 5-6 years only (rust) because of the salt and abrasive stuff. Thanks for your answer !
go to lowes and buy a can of plasti-dip for 5 bucks then spray it on a small peice of scrap wood to find out. the results would differ depending on if the wood was treated or not
Its a fun, safe way to be different from other rides on the road! And you can create many paint schemes with it! I don't see why anyone can't understand the product...and if you screw up,it peels off! A no-brainer!
i hate it when pople comment on things they have no idea about. IF YOU DONT KNOW SOMETHING ASK OR SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dip your car. Great job with the videos,
A few questions I was interested in having answered was, Whats the life expectancy of the plasti dip, if i had my vehicle plasti dipped. Does it become brittle and chip away over time? Also if I decided to plasti dip do I have to worry about the plasti dip peeling off as a result to rock chips, scratches on the vehicle?
Great Questions. I'm just as curious. Does it stand up in cold weather as well? Living in Georgia we experience all four seasons. I too, would like to know life expectancy, rock chips, and scratches. How do they affect the remaining plasti-dip that is on the vehicle. Is it just a chain reaction after that?
PSN: Jump_in_my_Bag Georgia doesn't experience all four seasons the way we do in the New York area lol. I wonder how it stands up to cold.... or heat when I go to Florida.
plasti dip can withstand up to i think 345˚F, also im more than positive its not going to freeze off your car. also with that said its not going to fade or crack or peel off unless your'e the one doing the peeling off. now against rocks being thrown at you, from like cars ahead of you on a highway or a main st. (ect)... well lets just say you would see a den't or a gnarly scrap before it would start pealing off.... I mean I had someone try to key my car and all it did was make a few bumps in the plasti dip and a line were the key had gone down my car. But the original paint was still good and scratch free.
PSN: Jump_in_my_Bag I plasti dipped the bumpers and grill black on my Honda Element 2 years ago. Only two or three thin coats and it's held up nicely. I had one scratch and just re-dipped the small area.
I had the question of "why". Thanks for the answer. There is a shop I know of that does the adhesive plastic. And that, to me, needs a huge WHY? Its as expensive as painting. After seeing this, I see it is much more practical. Thanks.
This is awesome i have a old 4x4 military truck i use for daily use , i love the original cam colours but would love to change the colour for everyday use on the street but like the camo for shows etc this product rocks i can spray it any colour i like over the camo then if i have a show i can peel it off and spray it a different colour . I love this product its awsome.
austin c YES! I dipped my wheels and by the second time the roads in my neighborhood were salted they had gotten all dried out and peeled around the edges
Fonzi correct me if I spelled it wrong. Your videos are awesome and I have seen over 10 in the past half hour. My question is , my car is sliver in color and I wanna plastic dip it into orange all the way around. Will I get a ticket / do I have to for not notifying the dmv on changing the color of my car? Btw put up some cool vids and color codes of a lexus gs300 1998. Thanks, keep up the good works
the only issue i have with plasti dip is, as a detailer, most of the chemicals i use will melt the plasti dip right off. i had a car in the shop and wasn't told and didn't know the rims had been dipped and not clear coated. my wheel cleaner melted it completely off. if you aren't going to clear coat it, and take your car to a detail shop, make sure to let them know what parts are dipped.
That's an awesome idea put a vinyl design on then plastidip over and with a craft knife carefully lift off leaving the design in a contrasting colour/gloss
Have had the cans of PD for awhile now, have been very nervous about spraying on my truck.. I feel better now Thanks For Posting This Video.. i think I'm ready..
how does it hold up in very cold temps? it gets as low as -45 to -50 degrees C where i live (northern part of canada) it being plastic and all im wondering if it would crack. also how would it hold up from one extreme to the other? if i wash my car (our car washes pump out hot water to get the ice off) and then go out into the cold would the dip expand and contract possibly stressing it to the point of cracking?
All the work you spent on this video was worth it. Thank you so much for posting this video up. Very helpful and I liked the tests you have done!!! : )
At 6:23 you say that it is 1800 psi, which equals to about 120 bar. My karcher ir 160 bar which is 2300 psi. Will plasti dip hold that much pressure ? :)
i used the clear coat from the black chrome wheel set sold at part stores i used that clear and the plasti dip and it still peels like plasti dip even after 5 coats of clear and it made it SUPER glossy i did it on my sport bike and it held up amazing and after 6 months it still came off like normal plasti dip it was just 10x harder to start so just an idea for anyone it worked way better then plasti dip clear
a big problem I have been having with plastidip is when you dip lines. I did about a 6 inch line across the lower portion of my pickup and it has peeled off since day 3.
Hi. Thanks for the video. We just plastidipped a new truck for a car dealer (client needed a matte green for hunting purposes). We liked the finished product, until the sales person and dealer principal tested it - WITH ONLY THEIR NAILS! The plastidip showed grey scratches - and the car dealer cancelled the whole project. Yes it protects the car, but it seems that the Plastidip itself will suffer from its own marks in a short space of time and loose its appeal, requiring a re-spray.
Once I find the time, I'm going to dip my black Mini Cooper. The main reason would be to protect the original finish, but I like the matte black finish look too. Thanks Fonzi!
I do have to say that as far as not ruining your paint I haven't had a problem except for my mirrors. I had white mirrors and put red plastidip on them, after a year I peeled them to redo them due to fading, and the mirrors had turned a pale pink.
If the car hasn't rusted already then I would guess yes it protects from rust. Rust happens because of salt, if the paint is protected from salt, no rust (don't take my word for it though). Plastidip can be sprayed almost on any nonfunctional part of a car.
Very impressed he used a power washer once it cured definately plastidip on my wheels and grille now .. for sure instead of painting and Sanding permanent black paint
In my experience spraying plasti dip on cars and wheels if you accidently get a run or (drip) i use a small amount of Paint Reducer with my finger and just smooth out the drip and spray another coat.
How about a heat resistant plasti dip that repels water for example to use as a complete under-body undercarriage protector (under coat) ? Everything from the bottom of the engine and exhaust components like the cat converters and cherry bombs and glass packs to the a frame and shocks?
I've used Plasti-Dip on pretty much all my cars since I discovered it, from rims to emblems, it is the best REVERSABLE customization tools out there. My only comment is, you should post your upper body workout regiment and see if it get as many hits as your Plasti-Dip videos.
How closely the plastic dip dries and when it is best to remove the masking tape ... if colors half bumper how to make a line that we are not rising plastic dip when I popped the tape because it's all straight lines, no folds in which he entered the plastic dip .. thanks
Have you tried a power washer to remove the plasti dip with clear coat over it? As in, you get it started and then use the power washer to try to force water behind it.
I am buying a 2009 Can Am Spyder.....I want to customize the "look" myself. I was going to use vinyl wrap! This has blown my mind! LOL. I am going to use this stuff instead. Thanks for sharing!!
Dude.... that was a great video. It answered ALL my questions and even showed me how to apply it. Thank you millions. I am going to go out and get some of this stuff. Wish I could buy it at a store locally.
Fonzi- I'm not sure I spelled your name right, but thank you. I did anthracite on my badges awhile back and it's worked great. Keeps the mag-chloride salt spray during the snow season here in Denver from pitting the chrome they originally came in. -Chris
I can see Fonzi be soooooo FRUSTRATED! LOL I have never done Plasti Dip, but one day I will do for sure without any hesitation. I just need to find time and space.
Good video, but in your explanation as to why you would plasti dip your car, my answer would be to protect the clear coat and paint underneath- Rock chips, rust, UV rays, etc. peel it off when you're ready to sell and the paint underneath should be like new!
How will the dip hold up on a motorcycle fuel tank. 2 reasons . 1 fuel drips or spills on tank while filling up. 2 the durability on the side of tank where legs rub on sides.
This answered 90% of my questions and concerns. I actually clapped during certain parts, lol.
VERY helpful, thank you!!
I respect that he showed that you shouldn't spray clear coat on Plasti Dip. Instead of just trying to sell something he showed its not a good idea. +Megan Arrington I could not agree more. I was the 10,000th who gave him a like.
Plasti dip now sells a clear coat
+Baticon yeah but it's made for plastidip not paint like a normal clear coat....
k dot I didn't say it was. Just saying they sell a clear coat.
Couldn't have said it better myself
"It's just a matter of" ... peels it off like a badass
Cant wait more dip volumes. This has got to be the biggest help of any TH-cam video. I am a true do-it-yourselfer and this channel makes me a better do-it-yourselfer. thnx.

Fonzie is the man
If he can't do it
No one can
rocktheroc if he can't do it, his biceps will.
that guy's arm is ripped from spraying cans all day
😂😂😂
Maybe He Works Out?
the reason I use it is because it protects your paint, rocks on highway will hit it and it will help protect your actual paint. and pick what color you like one year change the next year.
Great video. Very laconic and informative 👍🏻

That is a great idea actually!
1. How good does it do as a paint shield? I. e. from road debris or weather effects.
2. Is there clear plasti dip?
3. what is the longest you kept plasti dip on your car, how often do you need to re-dip the car if you want to keep it plasti dipped its entire life?
It’s only been 7 years. Someone should answer any day now.
Any day now.
Any day now
@@zachroell1714 Man, I changed more cars over the years than this guy changed paints. What gives?
i wanna put it on my car so i can peel it off. looks so satisfying lol
***** you had to have put elmers glue on your hand when you were a kid just to peel it off. lol i know i did... hahaha
i sure did haha
+Jim M and latex paint~!
+Jim M scabs > glue

Lol

This answered a lot of questions I had. Thanks for the video!
Exelent. The paint in my car started peeling and fading in the hood and roof. This gave me a really cheap solution to that problem. Really excited to start my project
Used this on my mid soles of my sneakers! looks very slick and i hoping it does not crack/chip like sneaker paint does.

haleyyrae101 Rustoleum undercoat you mean?
+Remrie Arrie (Duckshorts) Lol get your car undercoated, we've been doing this for sometime now.
Chris Armstrong It's a bit late for the 2002 Dodge Dakota I bought a couple years ago. That thing is rusty as fuck! I'm going to do the body in truck bed liner.
Winter's here. They're saying we're going to get a good amount of snow this year. How does Plasti-Dip hold up to freezing temperatures and snow?
How does plasti dip hold up against bird shit?
thejam7129
good question
the people who say that you ruin that car are really ignorant hey man its fun and you can change a color without any problem and when you want to go back there's not problem. which is awesome keep doing what your doing your job is awesome

Great product, great vids, definitely dipping my car this spring
What about winter testing with salt and sand and xtreme cold and all that crap ????
I plastidipped some parts on my car (front grill, and rear trunk badges) went threw -40 weather, salt, and all the crap, about a 100 car wash.. still going strong!!i'm impressed

no problem!

I like this hands-on approach on answering these questions!
Still 10 years on and still a good source to answer my questions.
Did your biceps get so big just from dipping?
Naah, dipping are for triceps.😎
on Maximum better for chest than for triceps
Jonathan Cardenas no it was from peeling duh lol
Hope you guys dont think this an overly dumb question; but will this product adhere to wood? Would be great to use as a water proofer :)
same question
go to lowes and buy a can of plasti-dip for 5 bucks then spray it on a small peice of scrap wood to find out. the results would differ depending on if the wood was treated or not
Yeah me too, that's a good question.
Yes, I coated my project electric guitar with it. Looks very nice too.
Thanks for the replies. I was thinking that also. Probably would work better on treated wood than raw due to porosity.
I keep looking at your biceps. Fuckin ripped
+Candyfloss Who knew plastidipping gives you such a good workout?
He better be careful, one more bench press and his muscle will tear out of his skin
+Blur Icy bench press really has nothing to do with his arms... Lmao
+Melaroks13 you cant have weak arms and still bench alot.. trust me it doesnt work. Big arms + Big Chest = Good bench (and form)
+Candyfloss it's fake, completed dipped and can be peeled off after the show.
You are the best man. Thanks for your time in this video and for answering all FAQ'S.

Dip your car. Great job with the videos,
I heard bird shit stains plasti dip. Is that true ?

does salt during the winter rot it away ?
austin c YES! I dipped my wheels and by the second time the roads in my neighborhood were salted they had gotten all dried out and peeled around the edges
Feds looking for x color car? Not any more...
Gta type shit
this stuff looks really good. makes it so you can change the car color and not spend big bucks or if you dont like it, peel it off.
Good Video Fonzie. I get asked a lot to prove this comes off. They want to make sure it doesn't hurt the exiting paint. Appreciate it.
its rem oveable on acrylic sheet????
i m going to dip my acrylic aquarium back and bottom.
thanks
I did this on the back a jebo tank of mine. Worked 100% and it's reversible of course.
"...and when i want to go back to white... i mean it just a matter of..." I think that bit says it all.

THIS is support and standing to your product.
thanks dude and keep doing that work!
great video. had to show the ol lady who's a skeptic. she's a believer now. ;)
have you ever plasti diped a motorcycle? if you ever get one in please record it and put it up on you tube.
I like to see that as well. I want to do some highlights on my zx14.
ok thanks.
don't try , if you spill gas , that's it.
if you try to paint, do it the right way . plasti dip is not that good.
I dipped some of my fairings on my rocket last night. Would you recommend using the glossifer after dipping?
Jeffrey Conner The truck bed liner stuff is really expensive compared to plasti dip... AND It doesnt just peel off (the best feature of plasti dip)
does plastic dip come in clear
+Edgar Asencio yes it does.
HIT THOSE TRICEPS BRO!
It looks like he is using synthol. His biceps look flexed even when they are relaxed.
PopsGG gayyyy....you're jelly and wish you could look like him
I just did my front chrome bumper on a 2004 Silverado. Gave it a nice blacked out look. Thanks for all the tips.
the only issue i have with plasti dip is, as a detailer, most of the chemicals i use will melt the plasti dip right off. i had a car in the shop and wasn't told and didn't know the rims had been dipped and not clear coated. my wheel cleaner melted it completely off. if you aren't going to clear coat it, and take your car to a detail shop, make sure to let them know what parts are dipped.
Really good point. This is precisely why I haven't dipped my car by now.
How about spraying over stickers?
That's an awesome idea put a vinyl design on then plastidip over and with a craft knife carefully lift off leaving the design in a contrasting colour/gloss
Richard Roberts peel it while the plasti dip is wet same with any prep and tape and it leaves smooth edges
Pieter Jan
bumperstickers of donald trump
Im new to this but is this stuff transparent? Because i was wondering if i could us it as window tint?
Then try Plasti dip smoke
did this product resist to deep cold temperature ? like minus 35 celcius
winter are deep freezing here !
Good to hear you call them wheels instead of rims. Tells that you aren't a newbi. Thanks, and pease keep up the excellent work.
Have had the cans of PD for awhile now, have been very nervous about spraying on my truck.. I feel better now Thanks For Posting This Video.. i think I'm ready..
Hmmm, dip car to red, rob bank, peel back to white, kewl!
Charles Cain that's what I was thinking!!!!
As if they won't find the peeled plastidip in the trash and put 2 and 2 together
How does this stuff wear? Do you have to touch it up often?
Not if you get a good 5/6/7 coats on your car It could last years if done right...
it fades pretty bad unless u put alot of "glossifier" coats on it
let me answer that "why" question....cuz it's my "fucking " car
how does it hold up in very cold temps? it gets as low as -45 to -50 degrees C where i live (northern part of canada) it being plastic and all im wondering if it would crack. also how would it hold up from one extreme to the other? if i wash my car (our car washes pump out hot water to get the ice off) and then go out into the cold would the dip expand and contract possibly stressing it to the point of cracking?
The ice may cake on but like he said make sure it cures!! I have it on my snowmobile and it's doing well
Around 7:40 in, is that the output side of a shop vac that is attached to the sprayer?

Great alternative to condoms😜
can i plasti dip my wife to make her black?
lmfao
Lmaooooo
All the work you spent on this video was worth it. Thank you so much for posting this video up. Very helpful and I liked the tests you have done!!! : )
At 6:23 you say that it is 1800 psi, which equals to about 120 bar.
My karcher ir 160 bar which is 2300 psi.
Will plasti dip hold that much pressure ? :)
BICEPS!!!! omg!
i used the clear coat from the black chrome wheel set sold at part stores i used that clear and the plasti dip and it still peels like plasti dip even after 5 coats of clear and it made it SUPER glossy i did it on my sport bike and it held up amazing and after 6 months it still came off like normal plasti dip it was just 10x harder to start so just an idea for anyone it worked way better then plasti dip clear
a big problem I have been having with plastidip is when you dip lines.
Very helpful. I've got four rusty steel rims and I've been researching solutions. This is perfect! The proper intro to PlastiDip. Thanks!
I do have to say that as far as not ruining your paint I haven't had a problem except for my mirrors. I had white mirrors and put red plastidip on them, after a year I peeled them to redo them due to fading, and the mirrors had turned a pale pink.
one of the OGs on TH-cam as far as I remember!
Awesome video. I just Plasti Dipped the grill on my TSX, love the look of it. Going to do the wheels next.
What happens if someone scratches a fender that was dipped? Need to re-spray?
Would you rather have your car's actual paint get scratched? Lol, it works as a protectant and saves your car...
4:40 , Engine bay , Would there be a problem with heat ?
I've thought about wrapping my boat, but now I think I may try your products!
How closely the plastic dip dries and when it is best to remove the masking tape ... if colors half bumper how to make a line that we are not rising plastic dip when I popped the tape because it's all straight lines, no folds in which he entered the plastic dip .. thanks
I love this stuff, just did my emblems on my 2006 Mustang GT and I'm going to tint my lights with it tomorrow!!!
Corey Martin they not gonna be too dark though
Have you tried a power washer to remove the plasti dip with clear coat over it? As in, you get it started and then use the power washer to try to force water behind it.
I am buying a 2009 Can Am Spyder.....I want to customize the "look" myself. I was going to use vinyl wrap! This has blown my mind! LOL. I am going to use this stuff instead. Thanks for sharing!!
Dude.... that was a great video. It answered ALL my questions and even showed me how to apply it. Thank you millions. I am going to go out and get some of this stuff. Wish I could buy it at a store locally.
Fonzi-
I'm not sure I spelled your name right, but thank you. I did anthracite on my badges awhile back and it's worked great. Keeps the mag-chloride salt spray during the snow season here in Denver from pitting the chrome they originally came in.

If you get some open edges and pressure wash it after it's had clear coat on it, will that peel it?
