  • Not Seeing Results with Retin-A (TRETINOIN)? Watch This Before You Quit & Avoid My Biggest Mistake
Never am I claiming to have flawless skin or be an expert in skincare. Rather, I’m sharing my lived experience as someone who’s been consistently using tretinoin for almost 2 decades now (in addition to having a basic skincare routine since around the age of 12). The goal anyway shouldn’t be achieving “perfect skin” as there is no such thing, but instead it should be for YOU to achieve YOUR best skin; and that goal is achievable! My complexion still has its flaws but, for ME, it’s as good as it’s going to get; I’m satisfied with my results. So I encourage you to stick with it, especially if you’re growing frustrated or impatient. Be patient & consistent. Don’t give up!
(P.S. My biggest skincare “secret” remains my diet.)

Please consult the description box if you're interested in links provided to pertinent research (it's very interesting)! I want to emphasize: Never underestimate or devalue the impact that diet has on one’s skin. The skin is the largest organ, and I’ll always maintain that my nutrient-dense, whole (real) foods diet + my time-restricted feeding lifestyle have a great deal to do w/the quality of my skin. (That, along with proper sleep & stress management and being a lifelong hat & sunscreen-wearer, too!)

My insurance allows me two 45g tubes per month at 0.05%. I literally apply Tretinoin all over my body every three days followed with an ultra rich water based moisturizer and I always use SPF 30+. As a guy, I get tons of compliments on my skin especially my face, neck, chest and arms. After one year of doing this during the lockdown, my skin transformation is just something you have to see. My skin tone is one solid color all over my body, smooth, dewy, firm, no lines or wrinkles and microscopic pores. I don't waste my money on any fancy expensive creams or serums. Just Tretinoin, SPF lotion, gentle cleanser and a thick water based moisturizer. I'm hooked on this stuff because it truly does EXACTLY what it says it will do and more!...

@@simranjitkaur3682 I "once" had an issue with acne when I was a teen, so it was on file that I had Acne Vulgaris, when it wasn't really that bad. I told my physician that I was getting flare ups again (adult acne) while talking to him over the phone, so he just called it in for me. The insurance company looked at the diagnosis code for Acne Vulgaris (L70.0) and that qualified me for insurance coverage with larger tubes, twice a month to treat the face, neck, chest, back and arms. So now I just use it every 3 days all over my body, which does prevent any breakouts but also does a whole lot more, for having great skin all over. Hope this helps!

I’m a 54 year old grandma and I’ve been using Tretinoin for about 25 years. I still use it about 4/5 days a week. I originally began using because of bad acne. People rarely believe I’m as old as I am! I wear a moisturizer with SPF under makeup during the day and use Tretinoin at night. I find that wearing a primer under foundation helps with any flakiness during the day. Drinking lots of water and not smoking will also definitely help keep your skin from aging.

No long intros, no music, no weird beeping noises, no screaming at me with vocal fry voices :) You are so peaceful to listen to that I've fallen asleep to your videos hahaa. I started using Retin-A when I was 22. I’m now 49. I look 35. My skin flaked horribly in the beginning. Now I apply at water-based lotion first & then the Retin-A. It is definitely oily but that isn’t a bad thing, just use it at night. It’s a great product to help your skin barrier heal because it is protecting and sealing in moisture so it actually assists healing and should not cause break outs unless there is an allergy or a bad product underneath it.

Hi there! I don't know this youtuber well, so I wouldn't know about other things she may have had done, but I did want to say it's possible to have no forehead wrinkles without botox. From a young age didn't use my forehead muscles (wasn't intentional, I just wasn't very expressive up there) and so now in my older age it *looks* like I have gotten botox because probably atrophy over the years of non-use. if I try really hard I can get some movement but it's pretty weak. I'm sure people will assume it from time to time that I've done botox, and that's fine, just thought it was worth mentioning that this is a thing. More likely than not she has, just isn't a guaranteed thing is all. Totally agree with your point that influencers often have more done than they let on which can distort our own self image of whats possible with what products.

@abby Loe. Tretinoin prescription from doctor only. It is good. If you do not want wrinkles use that at night with moisturizer, sandwich effect of course for beginners. During the day use Argiriline and Matrixyl from the ordinary. Or Buffet with copper peptides 1% from the ordinary. Argiriline tightens skins. The buffet with copper peptides takes longer but I find it better as it has so many other good ingredients in it for the skin. But tretinoin prescription does work. Start off with 0.25mg first. After your ski can adapt to it then only switch to higher concentration. Also a time lasts long because you only use pea size amount at night. You must apply properly or you will damage your skin: use sandwich method. First moisturizer then retain A then moisturizer again for first time users at night 2 hours before bedtime. In the morning you must wear sunscreen spf 50. Regina A attracts sun which will damage your skin. The next best to retain A which is a prescription, would be retinaldehyde, it is less irritating on the skin, this is over the counter, but will take longer to see results. Hope that helps.

Been having skin problems all my life and Tretinion was the game changer. It has drastically improved my Ichtyosis vulgaris. I do not play with my prescription strength tubes. I recently quit vit c and there is no effect. I introduce and guide all my skincare group members on tretinion and make sure it’s on the routine for those abroad. It hurts that it’s expensive and they need their doctor to give it to them before they even use it and some don’t so I make sure I ship as much as they want. No law should prevent anyone from getting tret. It’s Tret on my body + moisturizer and a broad spectrum spf 50+ for life. Your videos are so encouraging and amazing. I cannot believe I can age backwards at 30+ I wish I met Tret earlier 😅

It's my 4th month of using tretinoin (0.05%). Those first 2 months were horrible. Inflamed and sensitive skin, pimples and what not's. But your videos gave me a great motivation to continue on my journey and looking back I'm glad I didn't gave up. I use it religiously every night and my skin has become accustomed to it. Though a long way to go, I can already feel a tremendous difference to my skin texture and tone to a degree where I don't need any other products and cut all of them to minimum basics. Hoping for much more in the near future. By the way I'm 23 years, nearly the same age as you were when you first started.❤️

I just started to use Retin A last week and had no peeling. The face will feel like burning a bit when I put other products but it goes away within seconds. I also put vaseline around me lash line, top and bottom, and around my mouth. I start using 5%, prescription, every day right away, however I follow this evening routine:
    1. I wash my hands
    2. I wash my face with Cerave
    3. I wash my face with Cerave millar water without rinsing
    4. I wait for it to soak in
    5. I use red and infra red light therapy for 20 min, to give sufficient amount of time for all product to be absorbed.
    6. I apply Retin-A
    7. I wait another 20 minutes and I apply moisturiser
    8. I apply eye cream when moisturiser soaks in.
Maybe the peeling will happen still, we'll see, but I already have incredible results, evening of the skin tone, and minimizing fine lines under my eyes. I hope that marionette lines also go away eventually.

I see the initial flaking as the great skin PURGE of getting your old crappy skin off to reveal the baby skin underneath. SPF is must, I agree. • @user-ey7wg7hl3v
      @user-ey7wg7hl3v 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@olgabushak2942 Yes, after cleansing you use your retinol/retinoid and finally you put on a moisturizer. Only use retinol/retinoids at night. In the morning you must always apply sunscreen at the end of your skincare routine.
Some recommend using retinol for starters as it is less irritating than retinoids such as tretinoin and adapalene. The reason retinol is less irritating is that it needs to break down first into a retinoid (retinoic acid also known as tretinoin) before it can be used by our skin, so when you apply retinol onto your skin, it slowly releases retinoic acid into your skin, leading to less irritation. On the contrary, tretinoin or retinoic acid is the form in which your skin can use it, so when you apply tretinoin onto your skin it immediately gets absorbed into the cells without the need for any breakdown beforehand. This is the reason why tretinoin could be much more irritating for your skin than retinol, but also it is why it is more effective than retinol.
You could start using tretinoin immediately though, but you would need to be very careful with how much you are applying and the frequency. Hope this helps!

I've struggled with cystic acne for years. It seemed like it only got worse as I got older. Nothing has worked to clear my skin up like a normal person's except maybe a Doxycycline regimen, and that's not exactly a sustainable skin care routine. My dermatologist prescribed Tretinoin at the end of last year, but like you, I had to stop using it because my skin was getting so irritated. So thank you for sharing this, because it gives me some hope that maybe this can really work for me. One other thing with Tretinoin that I struggled with IMMENSELY has been irritation due to using it on broken skin, most notably due to picking. The doc DID warn me about that one, but I was already fairly obsessive and compulsive about skin picking by then. So that, combined with using too much, or too frequently, just made an even worse mess out of my skin, and I had to stop for a few months. You have my gratitude! I really appreciate you sharing this video. Gives me hope that--with a little more discipline and mindfulness around how I use it--hopefully I can achieve real results one day, too.

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen it’s so important especially using tretinoin. Unfortunately some people don’t hear me out complaining the texture of the sunscreen. I tell them, luckily there’s so many out there nowadays to choose from but hey, it’s their skin.

I've definitely over done it with tretinion 0.05% before because I thought it would heal my acne and hyperpigmentation quicker (lol). I'm using it differently this time round and now 6 months in, I still find it a bit difficult to deal with (purging, dryness) but nothing compared to my first time round when I was DESTROYING my skin!!

I was using this a couple years ago for about 3 months but stopped cause my skin was purging badly and it hurt. I never knew I had to use it a longer time in order for it to work. I might give it another go cause nothing else is helping and I’m too afraid to go on accutane. I’ve fought with adult acne for some time and I’m already 25. I hope I can get beautiful, clear skin like yours, one day. :)

I started tretinoin about 3 years ago, I’m 36. I’ve just got it down my neck; I started with it in patches. First half my forehead for a week, then my full forehead, and so on, unless I started getting it irritation, and I used moisturizer as a base. Now I’ve gotten to full face coverage, and neck, and am starting to put it directly on my face, no moisturizer as a base, and I put moisturizer as a second layer. I had no horrible flaking or crusting by beginning this way, but have all the benefits, my skin is so much better than it was.

I’ve been using tretinoin for 27 years and started out with .10%. I have never used moisturizer with it. After washing it off I always moisturized. But I have never put anything on with tretinoin. It was hard but I wasn’t about to give up. I’ll be 60 next year and I’ll never stop my routine. It’s worth it.

So glad I found your video. I started this treatment about 3 months ago, starting slowly first few weeks then every night. I have had such dry skin, flaking and irritated. I was ready to stop. Putting on makeup in the morning is a nightmare, it looks aweful to the point that I scrub it off use a microderm scrub hoping the flaky skin comes off. I will now back off a bit as I have been using it every night. Last night was the first time I "slugged", using Vasoline over moisterizer and my face did feel better this morning. I think maybe use 3 x a week and vasoline the other 4 until my skin really sees improvement.

I had 3 treatments of isotretinoin for my acne in my adult life (I'm 29), and two years ago I saw your video about tretinoin and full of patience I started. I need to thank you because if it wasn't for you I would have never discovered the absolute solution to my acne and actually, every other skincare issue that I had with just one product. I have glass skin, I don't need to cover it with makeup anymore. Zero texture, zero wrinkles or acne or spots.. it's absolutely mind blowing. I'll keep using it for the rest of my life probably. Thank you for changing my life!! And if someone who reads me thinks I'm exaggerating. I still have health issues because of the 3 treatments with the isotretinoin in pills. My skin was a huge problem in my daily life so yeah. It's a miracle for me 💖

No one believes my age when I say it lolzz. Tret is a game changer 🤩.

Other philosophy of yours that I relate to is that of finding something that works and implement it for life. People should not be anxious about getting tretinoin results sooner, since it's something that should accompany us for our entire lives. Now I use tretinoin 0.1% almost everyday. I love what it does to my skin so much that I began to use it twice a week on my arms as well (besides face, neck, and hands), and I should say I get instant result, the very next day my arms skin looks thiner and softer... Your skin at 39 is better than that of many Hollywood stars at 29... Congratulations!
