- Here's a video on MAC Face Brushes overview and my must-have recommendations. If you're ready to invest on MAC brushes, you'll find which ones might be suitable for what you need. Enjoy! There is part 2 to this, so make sure to watch that as well. Eye Brushes will follow soon!
- แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
hi Gloria - I think you'll find that the full size regular ones are better. They are hand crafted as opposed to machine/mass produced. Some of the bristles are softer. The holiday sets are good for those starting out, and definitely great gift idea.
hey gracie - definitely start with what ever is affordable for you - until you get better and better and have more needs for other brushes, then look into upgrading your brushes as well. Start with craft brushes, and when you're ready - go for MAC or any other hi-end brushes.
hey Sopida - it is true. The full size ones are handmade, and the sets are mass produced as they are sold in set units. They are however ideal gifts and great for those who are just starting out with makeup. Some of the bristles on the sets are harder than the full sized ones.
YES. I love 192 for cream blushes! SO definitely use the SE 190 for that purpose.
hey Nicky - definitely get a 190 foundation brush and a 187 stippling brush. The 190 is best for cream foundations like Tech, and its great for Studio Fix Powder as well. The 187 is GREAT for Mineralized Skin Finish to add glow and rose to your cheeks. This brush is also the best for liquid foundations as it gives it an airbrushed finish.
138 is a great contouring brush for larger areas. If you mainly just want to contour cheekbones, jawline, and forehead, then Go for the 168. 138 is also a great powder brush.
clear matte nail polish (a good one) really does the trick, and of course, and making sure the handle doesnt soak in water.
hi Gail - if you're just looking fro a blush brush, then definitely go for the 129. If you want a more multi-use brush then 187 is ideal as you can use for foundation, skinfinishes, and blush.
hey Corina - you can either look into the 134 or the 150. Both are great powder brushes.
just brush cleaner, and baby shampoo when I do deep cleaning. The trick is to not let makeup stay on the bristles for days, so as much as possible cleaning right away prevents the white bristles for makeup stains.
hey gail, its always good to have both, if you can. The 129 will pack on more colors than the 187 would when using blush. If you want a soft focus look to the blush, the 187 would work fine, but if youw ant more color, the 129 will do effortlessly.
I am new to the makeup world & I have been looking for brush reviews, u have the best, u explain them in detail, which is what I really need. Thanks.
hey ernest57 - yeah, its basicall just vegetable-based dye. Non toxic, and washes out after a few deep cleaning. Its used to keep the bristles from drying out from storage and shipping, and the color from fading. It will go away.
depending on what youre using it for. 129 is a great Blush Brush. and 109 is a great stippling brush for contouring. I also use 109 brush for cream foundations. 109 is a lot denser than a 129. So if you're looking for a blush brush or bronzer brush - go for the 129.
I like the 129. If im working on small facial structures, then I use the 116. But I use the 129 a lot more.
hey nicky - i like 150 for face powders. For Blush powders, 116 or 129, just base the size to your cheeks. 129 is bigger than 116. If you have a small fave 166 might be best. for cream blushes, 192 is actually best.
you can conceal first if you go this route, and some liquid foundation have good coverage like Studio Fix or MSF Liquid. If you are a cream user, youre better off with a 190.
hey riley- i just use the brush cleanser, it has conditioners built in to the mixture.
Great tutorials as always, I just got two of the holiday edition brush sets--haven't had a chance to use them yet, but will today--I love them already !
definitely checkboth out, and get a feel for the brushes.
hey 1203yt - yes! definitely use a brush with your face primer. 190 is excellent for that. You can also watch my Prep & Priming 101 video.
hey tanni! sur! 109 will be good, but if you plan to change foundation formula, 190 works just as well, and very universal.
hey Ripal - i love 187 on liquids! it will give you that flawless airbrushed look.
hi fev - i have a video called Domed vs Flat Top buffer that might help you decide. If you already have the 183, you can definitely stick to that.
the strands are really super flexible, i havent seen any breakage.
yeah theyre machine made, as opposed to the full sized ones that are handmade. The bristles on some of the SE brushes are stiffer/harder than the regular ones.
hey chewi -have you washed the brush? wash it with shampoo and warm water and dry flat. Sometimes those brushes have starch that makes the bristles curl when use, wash it and see if it gets better.
awe, thats sweet! thanks!
Thanks SGQ!
lynn, wash and condition it often. quick clean every use, and deep clean at least once a week.
I like using the 190 on Fix Powder
you can use a foundation brush, like a MAC 190
hey cocoa both brushes are pretty much the same size - 168 is natural goat hair, and 169 is sythetic. thats the only difference. I tend to like the 168 as the bristles are softer.
hey Devi - yeah the 187 and 188 is pretty much the same only the size if diff.
Omg Im in love wit u! lolz totally helpful im going to take a visit to the MAC store very soon! Thank you sooo much there r so many brushes out there and i wasnt sure which i should get but now i no exactly what i want! def subscribing!
the 150 is a bigger brush, its actually a face powder brush. The 129 is narrower as its actually a Blush Brush.
You've been so helpful, thanks so much! :)
there are not as soft as they are machine made. The full size are handmade and crafted, so they tend to last long as well. The sets are great gift ideas and starter sets.
Enkore you are the best....... thanks for the tips.. on the brush..
Thanks Koren!!!! You're the best.....I didn't like the 190 for my foundation, so I found a new use for it, applying my moisturelush cream.....I LOVE the 187 for foundation!!!!!!!
The 116 is great for highlighting or more precise applications since it's smaller and more of a paddle shape (flat) but the 129 is great for a soft all over application for blush. I find that the 129 is a bit easier to blend with though.
its 3:30 AM - yeah Im up posting vids - only time I have these days. What about?
You do a wonderful job of explaining. Keep feeling motivated to post vid.s we really appreciate them :-) !!
awe, thats sweet!
awe sorry - I try to accommodate tho. Glad youre still waiting for this.
mousse are ok, anything thicker like creams is harder for the bristles to pick up.
Great video! I´m from Argentina and i love it!
hey Minerva - I have a couple videos, one on cleaning brushes and one called brush fly aways. I hope that helps ya.
Thanks Lala! :)
hey kawaiica - the duo bristles on the 187 is too soft for emollient or cream foundations. I know some people that uses it for cream foundations, but I prefer a denser brush like 190 or 192 for creams.
hmmm Id say do quick-clean every USE, and deep clean once a week. If you use creams and liquids, lets say on Monday, and you dont use the brushes again until Thursday - bacteria probably built up on it if theres makeup from the previous use.
thanks! i'm starting my collection on mac products!
hey custard -- ooh mousse foundation! 190 is great for that!
lovin the music.. keep it commin!
you are amazing:) Always so informative and personable i love it! My boyfriend has taken to singing your themesong randomly its very cute and he calls you my friend. When he hears your voice coming from my speakers he says ' oh hey ur hanging out with ur friend huh'
lol
We both love you and your videos are doing amazing things for me because there is so much i've always wanted to learn and i love that you share your knowledge :)
Hugs!
Kris
hey jacquie - it should be smooth and shiney like stainless steel looking. Have you buffed and polished it to see if it goes away?
hmm thats the first ive heard it - is it the black or the while bristle that are flying away? you might want to get it exchanged.
hey daisie - mac brushes are one of the highest rated cosmetic brushes in the market.
hey Onass777 - what brand are you using? If your extremely oily and your foundation and concealer are sliding off, then look into using OIL CONTROL LOTION. It will make such a difference...
Thank you! I will look into both at my counter. :D
hey boxofmakeup -- susre! 190 works, however I like 194 concealer brush, just because of the size. If your eally look at it, its like a190 mini-me! LOL
how can i do so the logo won't come off it stays for a long time i heard clear nail polish but i wanna hear ur suggestion
Excellent video.
I love your Videos!!! You're awesome!!! What MAC brush should i use for the white powder you put under the eyes to catch the flakes and stuff... it looks like a fan... ??
Hi Koren! Thank you very much for this terrific video. I got into doing makeup about three years now and I love doing my eyes and blush. I love Mac products are so amazing. Would you please tell me after I apply my moisturizer do I apply conceler with 194 conceler brush and then apply foundation with 187 Foundation brush? or is it other way around? I do have some what little dark circles around my eyes so I was wondering. Thank you so much once again. You're the best.
Koren thank you so much for your quick response. Yes I watched your Concealing dark circles video and it really really helps. One more question. I wear liquid foundation and would you recommend 190 or 187 foundation brush? Thank you once again.
Thanks so much for the video! I have a set of Sephora brushes and one in particular is basically the same as the MAC 168-contour but I was soo confused as to how I should use it! Now I know! I do use MAC products and they are amazing. I really want the 187-Dual fiber (it feels lovely) and the 194-concealer brush. I also definitely need an eyeliner brush, which I'm sure is in MAC's inventory. Do you have a video of the 200 and 300 brush series?? Thanks again!
the 109 is best for cream foundations. You really dont want natural bristles on liquid.
its in my deep cleaning video, Ssantos. Check it out. Blush brush - I like the 116 or the 129.
Yea. I totally agree, your really awesome. I would come by MAC every day if you worked there..well maybe not everyday but, your really good!
hey Vivian - NO, MAC does not do animal testing. They test the products on other makeup artists. The brushes are made from animal hair thats harvested (shaved) much like harvesting wool.
Aww Man, EnKore You Rock! :D
I Was Hoping For Reviews On The Face Brushes B'cos They're Awfully Expensive And Knowing My Luck I'd Buy One That I Dont Like So Now I Have Some Idea Of What I Want :D
Thank you so much!
MSF for foundation? Blush?
I love my 187 brush but mine sheds like crazy
since i frist got it it sheds hair on my face
Leave lil hairs all the time
I was wondering if that was normal
or did I get a defective one
thanks for your videos :D
i love love love them (:
Hi Koren! I'm new to makeup and your videos are really helpful. I just have one tiny question and i hope you'll find the time to answer. Which powder brush do you think i should purchase - i shall be using it mostly for my blot loose powder from MAC. Thank again
THANK U SOOO MUCH!!
I love it you are awesome :)
Very informative vids. Just purchased this brush. Can this be used with Studio Fix pressed powder? It was recommended by a MA at my local MAC store.
you need someything denser like a 109. 116 is too soft for cream foundations.
I love this video. (: how do you suggest keeping brushes in tip-top shape? I want my mac brushes along with my others to lasssssst. thanks.
hey gaudy - many people here bought from Ebay just to be dissapointed to find out that most are fakes. Definitely be careful buying from EBay unless you know the seller.
Hi thanks for all of your info. Wondering what you think of the MAC 138 - is this mainly for contouring, does it work well and how does it compare to the 168?
wut brush wud u use for the mineral skin finish??
its ok, you can dilute with a little water.
hey Ripal - I have a video on Concealing Dark Circles that might help ya. Check that out. Also, conceal first, then foundation.
i suggest doing quick cleaning every other day, and then do a deep cleaning once a week.
great! thanks
great advice for teh 116!!!!
Do you think it's ok to use the 109 with the studio stick foundation?
This is a great video!! :D I have a question: I wear Laura Mercier's silk creme foundation... would I like using the 109 with it? Do you think it's a must have?
Thank you so much for posting all these helpful videos! ^__^
It holds 18 brushes.
A buffer brush is best like a MAC 182
OMG oldies nut gewdies! sigh -one of these months, I'd be down under - and you better have tean and crumpettes, seriously.
Look into Sephora brushes, they're not as expensive. Or watch my Painting brushes video. Loew Cornell have good quality brushes that are great for makeup application, and much less than MU brushes.
What do you think about the MAC holiday face brushes 187SE, 190SE, 168SE and 19SE? Are they worth it?
Thank you so much Enkore. I was wondering if you knew what the bristles in the MAC 109 brush are made of? :)
hi enkore :) can i use 187 brush with the cream foundation? thanx.
Okie Dokie!
