A faithful viewer of your videos returns!! Love this video...it really helps me decide what I really need in terms of brushes. Thanks and keep 'em coming. You are awesome in every way!
Great tutorial Koren. Your videos are like an encyclopedia of beauty. This vid was extremely helpful, as I am always confused about brushes and now I learnt a lot more about them. Thanks!
hi Marieke - youdefinitely want the 134 if youre using it for powder foundation. 134 is denser and therefore will give you more coverage when applying the powder, and at the same time it is also a great brush for dusting and setting powder for your foundation.
hey NZgal - sure, the 129 can be used to apply Fix Powder, and its a great blush brush as well. Make sure to wait 15mins after applying moisturizer before foundation. So that way your skin will have the chance to absorb. Otherwise the powder will absorb it before your skin does.
Thank you so much for all that you do with these tutorials!! You're an absolute sweetie and I adore watching your videos...(thank you Amy for your mentions of Enkore - which is how I found you!) Being the makeup lover that I am (still at 45, if not even moreso at 45!). Keep up the great work!! Love ya.
hey chantel - ideally a quick cleanse is ideal every time you use. But, you can do it twice a week if you dont use every day. Then do a deep clean once a week or every 2 weeks. Use a spray bottle for the big brushes so it doesnt soak all the cleansers.
hey btaskey - the 180 is denser and such a great buffer/kabuki brush. If you are using your MSF Nat as a foundation then 180 would be better, if you just want to add warmth to your skin, 187 is good for that. You can also use the 187on your blushes for a more subtle effect.
awe youre sweet - I had to watch both videos, and yeah 194 is the concealer brush I mentioned in part one, and in part 2, I did feature the 192 which is bigger filbert brush, great for creamblushes and such.
hey Magi - 180 is the face/body biffer-kabuki brush. It is great for applying mineralized powder much like any other kabuki brushes. 191 brush is the straight-edge paint looking brush, you can use it for foundation but unlike the 190 filbert cut, you will get straight edges.
hey gb - definitely check out 182. Its softer to the skin, yet dense enough as a buffer brush. 180 is a great kabuki brush specially if you apply makeup on neck and decolette.
hey vicksterr - try rinsing it again throughly, and dont fluff the bristles. Just lay flat to dry, dont use a hairdryer or anything. Once dry just sweep it a couple time on your clean finger. Sometimes face brushes do fluff after the first wash cuz all that starch coating gets washed off.
hi Kx - 187 is definitely more suitable for fluids. It will give your foundation a more airbrushed finish. For your MSF, if youre just using it as a set powder, 134 is great! if you're using it as a foundation and need to buff it in to your skin, 182 buffer brush is perfect for that.
mineralized powder, for the most part, have all-natural ingredients, like mineral rocks that are powdered. Normal powders have synthetics, silicones, and other various lab-produced ingredients and colorants.
hey besma, if you dont mind the wide bristle, sure! I have used my 136 for foundations. Buts its best to use in set powders. You will probably find the 190 best for powder foundations.
ok thankyouuu! all your videos are great btw! i was going to come to harrods when you were in london but the train times got all messed up! eek! hope u had a great time in england!!! Anthea x
191 is that straight edge large flat brush - not quite popular as the straight edge leaves a sharp edges to foundation when its applied to the face. However its great for doing body painting and face painting that requires sharp edges.
The fan brush is also good for heavily pigmented blushes or bronzers that you cannot put on with a regular brush. The fan brush will distribute the color with a much lighter application. There are blushes that I own that I could not wear if it were not for the fan brush and I don't even think of putting bronzer on my fair skin without the fan brush.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, EnCore! I hoped to see some advices to use 180 and the 191. Today a received the 191 and I am not sure, if there are any tricks for it. Do you maybe know a difference to the 190 foundation brush? And the 180-I purchased it a while ago, because I hoped it would be THE solution for mineral MU, but it´s TOO much hair. It makes a MMU-mask. So I use it for buffer blushes into my complexion. But it seems, this is a bit waste for such a cute brush. Do you have any tricks for me?
Yes - I was excited when it came out with the Duos - and quite disappointed at the same time, as I find less use for it. Its too big to contour the face, and too tapered to use as blush and powder brush. However, its amazing for larger areas like doing body painting.
hey Koren! which one's better the 136 or 150? i want to get an overall face brush that i can also use as a blush brush. Btw, great & very helpful tutorials! more power!
hi macbella - get a bottle of glycerin from you local drugstore and try to emulsify the gels back toits original consistency. I recommend picking up tester jars to put a little at a time so that your main bottles dont dry up.
Hey Enkore, is the 180 brush simliar to the 182. I cant wear studio fix because im lazy and i dont use makeup remover all the time, so i break out. Recently i've been using powder mineral foundation and i was just wondering which one you reccomend :)
Hello Enkore!I have a question about brushes. How often do i have to clean the brushes? I use the MAC brush cleanser, but for those face brushes need a big amount of the cleanser. so i clean them up once a week cause i wear makeup like 2 or 3 days a week.. Should i clean them every time i use the brushes?
hey, i was just wondering, which brush is which out of the 192 & 194, you said the 194 was a concealer brush at first, then said u used a 194 as a creme blush brush, which you then changed to 192, then after in your overview you said the concealing brush was 192...?? Anthea
Hey! I love your videos, they're the best MU tutorials on TH-cam... I am wondering what you think about the 138 brush that came out with sculpt and shape... It seems like a good versatile brush that can do contour, blush, and powder.. maybe bronzer! It's expensive though, so I'm wondering if you have tried it. :) ty!
Hi EnKore, well.... I think I should just point this out.... in your video brushes part 1 you said the concealer brush is 194 (and it is), and then in this video you said 192. I think the correct label is 194. Excellent tutorial, I learnt a lot and now I know what I want to buy! MAC should really pay you for this!!! hehehehe. Keep up the good job, your videos are REALLY amazing and educational. YOU RULE! :D (yeah, I am your fan, hehehe)
Hi Koren:) I was wondering if your 134 brush came from France? I had a problem with mine it & it was one of the ones made in france, and i've found that the other two brushes that i have also from France the Farrells aren't cramped as well, and the handle comes loose loose! I was wondering if you had that problem and if not if yours may have been manufactured in a different place???
Not sure if my comment posted? I bought the 134 instead. I can only afford one expensive brush like that at a time. After seeing your video I could NOT resist! It's so soft and fluffy and I just want to rub it on my face every time I walk past heehee. I have been trying it for all my powder products, including blush. I was shocked that it worked so well because it's huge.. Have you tried it for blushers and bronzing? Ty for your great recs and prompt responses to posts.
hey gaybimbo - ok I see, then you need the 182 buffer brush, or the NEW 183 kabuki brush. Both will work with powder foundations. You might want to look at the Kabuki brushes sold at Sephora, price are cheaper than MAC.
Ooops.... I apologyze for my mistake, jejejeje, sorry to bother you with it. I will buy both of them then, the 192 and the 194 :D. Hopefully, I will look half as pretty as you do (EnKorinne). :) Thank you for your AWESOOOOOME videos! :D Kisses from Mexico!
You use a fan brush to dust off pigments/eyesahadows cast offs and glitters that drops on your undereye. Other than that, nothing really much of a use for it.
pass on that one. save the money on other more useful brushes. A friend got me a 138 last Christmas, and I have never used it...yet. And its almost christmas again.

yep - it was in the thread. The brush is 192 and I did say 194. SO - its actually a 192.
yeah I meant the 192 is the creamblush brush, and the 194 is the concealer brush. I thought i corrected that in the More Info section.
Great tutorial Koren. Your videos are like an encyclopedia of beauty. This vid was extremely helpful, as I am always confused about brushes and now I learnt a lot more about them. Thanks!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 134! And its great for Mineralized Skin Finishes! Love it. Glad you love it too.

thanku so much for the super quick response! i am purchasing online now, yaaay! love your vids!!
yes, ive used that many times to highlight the cheekbones.
I liked this video a lot and you show how to use the brush too. Thanks!
hey gb - definitely check out 182. Its softer to the skin, yet dense enough as a buffer brush. 180 is a great kabuki brush specially if you apply makeup on neck and decolette.
your videos are great... the best in its class in youtube!
hey vicksterr - try rinsing it again throughly, and dont fluff the bristles. Just lay flat to dry, dont use a hairdryer or anything. Once dry just sweep it a couple time on your clean finger. Sometimes face brushes do fluff after the first wash cuz all that starch coating gets washed off.

Thank you for posting this!
the new 169 is stiffer, so it applies more color and/or product. The 168 is softer. So if you like soft bristles, go for the 168.
mineralized powder, for the most part, have all-natural ingredients, like mineral rocks that are powdered. Normal powders have synthetics, silicones, and other various lab-produced ingredients and colorants.
oooh! I will have tocheck them out! Thanks for the info.
This is very great video! Great Job :)! I learned so much and thanks for posting this up.
Mayvelyn
Can't wait for the video on eye brushes
Thanks Enkore!

this is really helpful, thanks a lot!!!!
i'm such a fan
any face powder really - setting powder, blotting powder, compacts, bronzers, sheer pigment finishers, etc.
191 is that straight edge large flat brush - not quite popular as the straight edge leaves a sharp edges to foundation when its applied to the face. However its great for doing body painting and face painting that requires sharp edges.

bronzers, believe it or not, I love using my 129 blush brush. 182 buffer is good too and the 134 is great as well.
if you need full coverage with your foundation, then use the 190 brush.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, EnCore! I hoped to see some advices to use 180 and the 191.
Today a received the 191 and I am not sure, if there are any tricks for it. Do you maybe know a difference to the 190 foundation brush?

hey aldoma - if youre using MSF, i highly recommend 182, or the newly released 183!
i hope you'd also be featured in oprah. you have the talent and the heart for this! mach's gut! mabuhay ka!

what do you think about the 138? im not sure if i need it or not

hey Enkore! i just wanted to know whether the new 169 angled brush is better than the 168 as I was going to get one but wasn't sure which?
Hi, how often do you recommend washing foundation brushes(mac 190) and an all over face brush (mac 134)?
Hello Enkore!I have a question about brushes.
How often do i have to clean the brushes?
I use the MAC brush cleanser, but for those face brushes need a big amount of the cleanser. so i clean them up once a week cause i wear makeup like 2 or 3 days a week..
Should i clean them every time i use the brushes?
Hi Koren,
Yes, could you please show us how you would you a fan brush? Thank you
Thanx for a very educating tutorial.
/Annica in Sweden
