- It's time to see how much quicker the petrol V6 Ranger Raptor is against the V6 diesel Wildtrak and the 4-cylinder Wildtrak! Paul Maric lines them up for a drag race and then does some performance testing with the Ranger Raptor to see how quick it is from 0-100 and across the 1/4 mile.

Two things come to mind:
1) I don't think I've ever seen Paul this animated about any car he's reviewed prior - the excitement is hilarious
2) To further the excitement, Paul I think you need to run the same performance tests but this time with more road oriented rubber. I'm genuinely curious to see how this thing will go with performance tyres on it.
Read my mind, with some proper road tyres I reckon that Raptor could go from deadly quick to lethally fast
Agreed - even if they were HT tyres rather than something like Pilot Sport 4 SUV.
Definitely! We want to get Atko behind the wheel but there are concerns sticky tyres may be an issue with the centre of gravity.
I am just bloody insanely jealous of Paul having all the fun.

The 4cylinder actually wasn't far off the v6 diesel.
Gearing and modes are the same.

They are all rubbish compared to a V8
@@__PJ__ more power and higher efficiency with the modern V6’s makes them a no brainer. My mate with a V8 Patrol doing 38L/100km towing a caravan is nearly up with the B-Doubles. I was doing 22L/100km in my Ranger with a caravan behind. I would imagine the new V6 Rangers and Landcruisers will be below 20L/100km towing at 100kph.

I'd love to see a drag comparison between a PX3 Ranger Wildtrak Bi-Turbo, up against the new Ranger Wildtrak 4 cylinder.
It'd be an interesting comparison, as the new Ranger has put on a few kg's, but the engine & transmission have supposedly been "tweaked".
I'm still deciding between the 4 cylinder & the V6 when it's time to update. I'm really impressed with my current PX3 Wildtrak 2 litre & wonder if the V6 is really worth the extra coin.

The 4cyl is all one needs. The 6 cyl is actually north ita price tag. The raptor obviously is in a different class. The 4cyl engine is one mighty setup.
Yeah I’d agree. I’ve got the superseded wildtrak with the biturbo, and I’ve never once felt like it was missing anything, and that includes towing. And it’s awesome on fuel on a trip.
But 6 cyl is all one wants.

Correct. It’ll still tow the same load, it brakes better too, as I read in one of the tests.
The 4cyl biturbo is highly strung and longevity is not its strong point.

I have two questions for you (or anyone else who knows the subject 🙂) though:
1. It's been highlighted that the vehicle has only "1 battery" what does that mean to a novice driver like me? If I were to install some LED bars and lights on the car does that need another battery to support?
2. I honestly don't know whats the best use of this car for me (certainly not for commercial use) but for all practical purposes 2500t is good enough toeing capacity if one was to do camping with a trailer?
Also any suggestions on a UTE modifier (if thats the word) in Melbourne who can help me with some fancy stuff?
Think the Raptor alternator has got a higher output rating. Not sure, but with the overhead accessory switch console, think that was taken into account by Ford.

I’m sure that would be almost mid 5 second 0-60 in the dry. The us spec 270 hp version does it in 6.5
That’s Euro spec. US version should be around where the AU version is.

Imagine if you put down the cash for a new previous model Raptor in 2020. You would be pulling the Raptor decals off it. This new Raptor is the real deal.

Crucial mods would be negotiating a cheaper dealer price considering that there are crucial mods that need to be done out of the gate.
Great platform, criminally overpriced because clowns keep paying the money.
I would swap those very average BF tyres to a decent AT before driving in the wet..with that much power and torque they will struggle and there are better options for the price..

I have been running Cooper 20 inch Xeon tyres for 220000 klm on my Wildtrack and have found them to be great tyres obtaining around 85000 per set, this is what I’m looking at putting on my raptor. I think they may have better traction that the K2’s

Hey Paul curiosity, what's your Dealer Delivery fee? My hometown Ford dealer (Won't mention which tourist city) quoted me $5990 and 65kms away at Hansen Ford Mareeba quoted me $2200. Needless to say, I placed 2 Ranger Raptors on hold at Hansen Ford..
That’s daylight robbery. I’d name and shame dealers that want to gouge customers. Mine was about $2200 from memory.
