- Some fun and gunning with one of my favorite Marlins, the 1894 Cowboy Limited in .45 Colt caliber. This rifle is a jewel and so much fun to shoot.

Hickok45 NEVER never runs out of ammo...
That's a line I'll never forget lol
I like all the noises in this video. The buuumm the marlin makes, the chirping of cicadas and- and that's another noise we do not hear here in Austria- the permanent rumble of those nice V8 engines in the background. Would really like to spend a summer in beautiful Tennessee! All the best Mr. Hickok45!
My favorite guns to shoot.. hands down. Nothing beats a lever action.
Thank you on that advice on shooting, we appreciate it. Its always good coming from you and John. As always, enjoyed your video.
love it he laughs as he shoots, sounds like he is having a great time
I love coming back to this video. One of the first I've seen from you and John, hickok45. All the best.
+Ebenezar Thanks, I just got this rifle out yesterday, for a change, and I throughly enjoyed plinking around the Compound with it. And, you know, I was just telling John this afternoon that I don't know that we ever did a Chapter 2 video with it. I searched and searched, but I could not find one. I was thinking we DID, but I can't find it. IF I don't find it, I'll definitely enjoy doing one. THis is one of my very favorites.
+hickok45 thats funny, this was always one of my first videos of yours and still one of my favorites. i would absolutely love to see a chapter 2 (or 3 lol) with this beauty.
I recently bought a marlin 1894C and 1895 Almost exclusively because of you hickok45!
Love your videos! I have watched every single one. Many more than a half dozen times. I am a relatively new shooter, 2 years, and I have learned more from you than any other source, youtube channel, or gun writer.
Thanks from up here in CANADA ;)
Thanks for your videos....very enjoyable to watch and I learn more from your vids than any others. Keep up the great work...we really appreciate it!
my 1894CB LTD is one of the best shooting rifles I have ever shot.I have it in 45, 44 mag and 44-40. all a re great shooters.
I've watched this video probably a dozen different times in the last couple of years and it's just as fun as it was the first time I watched it.
Love the videos Hicock... Learn lots and they're fun to watch when I can't get out to shoot.
I enjoy all of your lever action and Colt SAA videos, almost as much as I like shooting my own.
i love this rifle! this is the first rifle i've ever owned...and i had zero experience with a rifle when i first shot it, and it made me look good! awesome rifle...just awesome!
That was some real good shooting right there sr.
Nice gun to own
I loved the swinging targets and your response when they swung all the way around. That was cool, as are you.
Very nice gun Hickock. I dearly love lever actions.
I bought a sweet Henry .22 golden boy to teach the grandkids how to shoot safely. It is soooo nice. Buttery smooth and looks mighty nice with the polished brass housing. I told the kids I would have to buy three more so I could leave each one of them a .22.
I very much appreciate the tip on handloading of the .45. That will be a big factor in my next purchase. A .45 pistol and rifle with a handloader would be a fantastic combo.
Hickock, thank you for the vids. Can't go shooting today due to weather so I'm living vicariously through your bids. Love these Marlin 1894 Cowboys. Again, thank you and keep making these vids for the good ol' American Boys on You Tube.
what a great feeling is this to have a lot of ammo and cool rifle like this ...nice nice nice
This video is 7 years old now! Thanks for your videos hickock!
I love the look of an octagonal barrel, and just lever actions in general, nice looking guns.
Sweet video, and what a fun rifle you have there! I've been thinking about a Rossi in .357 but now you've given me food for thought.
I own one very much like it and I love it.
Buck horn sights and a leather sling on mine.
A good friend gun smith of mine engraved my initials on the receiver. It's a great side kick to all my Colt .45 side arms.
Have some sweet hand tooled leather for same.
The Long Colt is a favorite of mine. A good man stopper.
Bill.
Nice video pardner, and nice shooting.
Thanks for the review and the tips on the hand loading.
It is videos like this that show the fun of target shooting and keep the fear in those who would like to invade us but know better thanks to folks like you.
I lived in Middle TN for 17 years. Retired from Saturn. Live in MI now. Great video!
Thanks!!
To me, as much as i love Winchester, (esp the Browings,) the Marlin 94 just has the most modern practicality of any of the original designs. I love the side ejection port, and the balance is excellent. I remember learning to shoot on an old 94 and they still hold a place in my heart.
Hey do u have have a winchester 94
love these older videos love lever guns
I have always had a soft spot for a Marlin rifle. Very good shooting the way I have grown to expect from any Hickok45 video.
I love the sound your hand loaded 45's make
Love the lever guns. Need more lever gun videos! Seen these too many times lol.
Sir, you amaze me with your shooting. You are by far the most accurate modern Gunslinger I've ever seen. There are many young men in my generation that are not even half as good a shot as you. So my hat is off to you sir you are by far a great shot. Keep your powder dry or Eyes On Target sir.
Love the gun and great shooting hickok....
Love that rifle! Thanks for a great and informative video.
Love that stuff you do Hickok keep it up
I have a 30-30 lever action and my brother has a .41. Marlins are wonderful guns.
You are good. I was debating on getting a Marlin 1894 cowboy .45, but watching you i am no longer debating. I want one. Nice gun Nice shooting. Thank you
Great close-ups!
I like that rear sight on the gun!
Found a 1997 looks like brand new and what a rifle. Love the 24" Octagon barrel, nice balance and 13 rounds. 45lc to go with my vaquero... May ride a Harley but a Cowboy at heart...
"It's hard to miss with this thing". And you say you're no rifle-man! :P
Big fan. Denmark.
That's great that you got your hands on an 1866 to do a video with. Beautiful gun. I just picked up the 1860 henry trapper model that uberti makes just last week. Had my local shop up here in bg, ky order it. It's right up your alley with the short barrel, you'd like it.
Yet another excellent video, Hickock45.
Liked that you explained the reason for why .45 Colt factory loads are nearly always pretty mild for the old SAA.
Also, really liked you idea of using nickel cases for your stiff loads to prevent any confusion.
I already have my own 1894 in .45 Colt on order, this one is just the standard model with the 20" barrel.
It should go nicely with my great old Ruger Blackhawk in the same caliber, and I intend to get a deer next year with it.
I just picked up the same Marlin 1894CB Limited 45LC new in box for a song. Mine is the earlier 24" barrel version. Looks like yours is 24" as well. This is going to be some fun.
I just bought one . 20 inch. pre Remington, mint, thanks for your help,
That looks like a lot of fun. I will definitely consider getting one in the future.
my dad has one chambered in 357 and when you shoot 38's it has almost no reciol and a blast to shoot...great gun, great vid
That's a beauty for sure, hickok45 :)) Thanks for sharing.
Neighbors think your church bells are late today. I've just gotten one with Williams sights. Thinking of the Skinners, now. Fun.
Gotta be awhile away. He pulled the trigger, and I went and made a coffee and got back in time to hear the bullet 'ding'.
i'm glad you explained why 300gr is not sold commercially, I think it is should be individual responsibility, but can understand the manufacturer's fears. Non-the-less, my next gun is going to be this cowboy.
Love your vid, good quality vid nice guns, lots of them .nice job hickock
a classic gun billy Hickok
I have a Marlin 1894, .44 Russian, .44 Special, or .44 Mag. Not easy to find the .44 Russian anymore. I have had the rifle since the mid 70's. It is the most accurate rifle I own out to about 135 yards. A good number of deer have become food because of it.
I like to load near the minimum for target practice, and near max for hunting. Always within the safety limits of the rifle.
Like your rear sight, but since I use mine mostly for hunting, I have a fixed 2.5 power Leupold on it.
Wow that's some crazy accuracy.
Hard to miss w/ this Gun Hickok says, hard for him to miss I think!
Cool gun! Thanks for posting.
Beautiful gun!!! Thx for sharing!!
You are a good shooter, I am impressed!
I really enjoy your videos......I would love to see the inside of your gun vault!!!!
Nice gun hickok. I have the same one. Watch out for the Marlin jam, It'll get ya.
Reminds me of my 1890's 30-30, passed down from waaaaay back. Doesn't shoot straight that often, but I love shooting it all the same.
hickok you shoot very well with the 1894. nice
Something about lever action guns... Love em
They are classy :)
would have got an 1894 if I could have found a P model...went back to get a 336BL and he had sold the last one...what did I do...? Well, after chasing levers for 4 years, I broke down and got a custom AR. Will be taking posession of it here inside the month and hope to churn out a video of it in the upcomming months. With a dose of regret I miss having the opertunity to get another lever gun, I miss my "shorty" 1894P all the time, this video is a good omage to the model. Thanks hickok!
Howdy, we here in Pennsylvania had a humdinger of a hot summer (set a record), too. That is a nice gun, indeed. I'm quite fond of my Winchester Trapper 94 in 45 Colt, too. I always thought a sixgun and levergun in the same caliber was a fun and nifty pair. Again, nice video, you sure make that Marlin look fun!
Great to see info on this considering moving up to a 44 Mag. also in the Mid Tn area.
Keep up the shooting.
nice shot i jus ordered this gun and i cant wait to try it out
hickok45, I agree with what everyone else has said before. You are indeed, "the coolest man on youtube." Nice shooting!
We call it hold off and alot of dudes will say things like you gotta know your hold to hit.Very good job of explaining it. I like to make joe ''privates'' remember his holds out to 400 with 25 m. zero if your wondering for your ar. its
25/ 0
50/ 2
100/ 5
200/ 7
300/ 0
350/ -6
400/ -16
i love this zero for my AR
I love your videos for informative
u can tell u have had alot of trigger time on this thing love it.
bought a Rossi .45 Colt in 2020 and is my Fav gun :) (Europe...)
Top notch video Sir Great Stuff...
Good to see your using the star line brass, in my opinion it's the best.
That gun looks really fun to shoot!!!!! I love how the 45 colt shoots and sounds. Never shot it before but a plan to. Maybe ill get a derringer in 45 colt because I cant afford a beautiful lever gun like that.
I absolutely love these videos! =-)
The walnut on that rifle looks amazing... Not like the walnut that's coming out of the new Remington factory, that's for sure.
I’ve been thinking I wanted a lever action rifle, but didn’t know what I wanted. This video decided it. I just ordered one of these. In 45LC.
great shooting as always.
@theaceco , It's a tough decision. Several factors to consider, of course. Will you handload whatever caliber you get it in? Do you want a peep / ghost ring sight on it? Do you want one that ejects the empty through the side, thus giving a solid top receiver for easier sight installation? I like the Marlin 1894 so that I can put a peep sight on it easily; however, the tang sight on my 1873 works well, too. It's nicer if it's up on the receiver, though.
Along with an 870 tactical shotgun and AR-15, I thought about a .45 lever action colt for even home defense. It might be an older style weapon, but sure as hell still packs a punch.
wow that gun looks like it has no kick at all thats awesome
MAAAAAN you shoot well! first rounds - wow!
There's a few reasons behind it. Primarily, bolt actions were favored because they're easier to take apart and clean and because they still work pretty well even when the action is full of grit. They also have combat advantages such as the ability to load much faster than a levergun because they can use clips. That allows you to put 100 rounds through (say) a Lee-Enfield faster than you could with a Marlin. The Marlin empties its magazine faster, but the Enfield loads much faster.
Lever actions have improved over the years like the 1895 winchester which has a built in box mag, henry long ranger and browning blr have detachables and then looking at the monoflex spitzer bullets that Hornady made.
I love my model 1894 Cowboy Limited rifle, mine does not have checkering on the stock and forearm though and only holds 10 rounds BUT still an awesome and fun gun to shoot
Quick shootin' slick!
Awesome gun!
nice i like the 45 colt, great shooting!
Cool video , nice shooting!
Nice gun Hickok45. My good lady just bought herself a Marlin 1894ss. Shoots great, however its got the same issue as you pointed out. The loading gate spring is a little tough. It pinches when loading. Hopefully im going to get chance to take it apart and replace the spring this weekend for her. Should sort it out. Anyway.. Great video keep them comming.
All the best
Chris
PS.. Took your advice and my Taurus .44 revolver is now working as it should
Don't know if it's you or what, but that rifle looks extremely accurate.
Watching in February 2021. Just bought a WC 94 Saddle Ring Carbine in 45LC.
Damn your a good shot! And BTY i feel for you down there in Tenn. Saw on the news it was going to be 107 in Nashville! My brother lives in Tenn. Ive visited him in August. Oh my God! Thought I was going to die LOL. Tenn. is a most beautiful state. Wonderful CivilWar stuff [I'm a Civil War buff] Looking forward to my next visit. Maybe i'll see you at Fort Donelson. Hear tell it may be in your backyard.
"Hickok never runs outta ammo" Quote of the day,lol
@CorvetteKillingDSM , You can get "little" derringers that shoot the .45 Colt.
Isn't it great how much you can load up .45 Colt for these Marlin rifles! I love it. A 10% over max charge of Bullseye or Accurate #7 and 250 LSWC or 335gr hard cast. Both are heavy hitters from the Marlin!
Wow great shooting
@jlunit416 , I think they are okay. I had them repaired last summer and reinforced with serious welds; however, they are still just regular steel - not hardened.
impressive shooting
You are a pretty good shot my friend!
I think I finally found this Marlin 1894 in my area! I hand load 45 colts too so I was glad to finally come across one. Were you shootng the 24" or 20" barrel in this video?
Hickok for (PRESIDENT!!)
