    I grew up in North Haven CT when both Marlin and Mossberg manufactured guns in town. Had a Marlin 336 and Mossberg 500. Seems like every kid in the neighborhood (or at least their parents) had a lever action Marlin and a Mossberg pump. Man, we sure did shoot up a lot of tin cans back then. Of course that was before the invasion of rogue 2 liters.

    Love, love, love lever guns and I love watching your videos on lever guns. The one in this video is beautiful!! I will always have a special place in my heart for lever guns. I took my first deer when I was 16 (many years ago) with my dad's Winchester model 94 30-30. The first rifle I gave my son was a Marlin 336 30-30. And he took his first deer with it at age 16. I have a Winchester 9422 that I LOVE to shoot and would love to see you do a video on one if you ever get the chance and come across one.

    • @Peaceful_Gojira
      @Peaceful_Gojira ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I too have a 336C 30-30!
      Inherited it from my grandpa, who only took it hunting a handful of times. Sat on his wall for over 30 years, never fired. I cleaned the heck out of it, re-blued it, and have fired it many times.
      Regrettably, whoever owned it before my grandpa: they never serviced the barrel. The rifling is in pretty bad shape, because bullets tumble mid flight once it leaves the barrel. Which is a shame, because I wanted to go deer hunting last season with a very nice lever gun. So, this gun will be a lifelong project for me, and hopefully in the future it'll be put to work again. For now, it's an heirloom that's fun to shoot downrange!
      Cheers, and be safe!

    I have a J.M. Marlin model, in 30-30, straight grip, with an octagonal barrel, that I purchased at a gun show in the 1990's. No safety button to mess with. Like you guys, I am a big Marlin fan. Great show, on the Marlin. Good ole .45-70 Government. Going strong since 1873. Thank you for your presentation.

    Wow ! I’m excited to see that rifle on your channel. I have the identical rifle, right down to the limb-saver ! I bought it unfired in 2005, still have the Davidsons paperwork and the original box and packing. I did put a Skinner Alaskan Gold and a Bear Tooth brass safety delete, and a RPP medium loop on it. It’s been to Alaska twice as my bear protection. I agree with knowing you fired it, with that light weight, short barrel, and no porting, with Buffalo Bore 405gr loads, it has a bit of muzzle flip as well. Thanks for showcasing it, and thanks to John for letting you review it !

    Second firearm I purchased 15 years ago was a Henry H100T .22" rimfire. I was lured by the lovely octagonal barrel, but looks aside it's a belter. If I have a slight negative the lever loop is a little small, but that's about it. Works a treat, is as accurate as anything else in my collection, not particularly ammo' picky, and just a great shooter.

    I've owned a number of these in .357 and used them in cowboy action shooting. They are truly terrific guns. It's true that the JM ones can be nicer and definitely maintain their value but the more recently made ones can be fine as well. My gunsmith tuned Uberti 1873 proved to be a faster gun for competitions but the Marlins are a pleasure to shoot and own.

    Yep, I bought one a couple years ago and this rifle is a Sledge Hammer! I put a gel pad on mine, and a Nikon slug hunter scope on it. Awesome combo and I absolutely Love it!!!! The main reason for the gel pad wasn't because of the recoil, but the rifle was a bit short for my length of pull so the scope didn't hit me in the eye. Very nice fit and I've killed several deer with it using the Hornady Lever Evolution .325 grain FTX bullets. This round hits like a ton of bricks and I could'nt ask for anything more.

    That one's pretty cool. My first thought was nice stock nice grain. Being left-handed I've used levers most my life. Only two Marlins left now in the case. One a 39a the coolest .22 ever and my favorite is a 1978 .375 Win. The fit on the Marlin from 78 is great. I really like the .375 too. It's like shooting a 38-55 but I didn't know that 40yrs ago. Marlins are fine guns for sure.

    I’ve been deer hunting for the last three years with a browning 1886. Just got a 10 point whitetail with it this past season. My eyes are changing, its often hard for me now to pick out standard sights. I was looking for one of these short barreled cowboy 1895’s to stick a receiver sight on and save me some weight over the 86. A friend has the 26” barreled one. I thought one of these 18.5” cowboys would be as handy as my 39m. Been looking for a year and haven’t came across one of these limited 1895’s. Wish Ruger would make this rifle…but heck I don’t even see their latest models on the racks. Ha I loved watching this video but it will probably make it even harder for me to find one!!!

    This gun is not just from the last century, but also the last millennium!

    One of my greatest gun regrets..I once owned one just like this one..AND a Colt Python that I purchased for $350…amazing guns…I let both go because I needed money. I’d give at least 3x what I got to get either one back. Am my current JM Marlins will be in my possession when I die.
