- I understand a lot of Sur Ron owners view adding a pedal kit akin to neutering the bike; however, the world is a big place, and laws vary drastically depending on where you live.
That being said, this PAS is a fantastic option if you want a Sur Ron, but your local jurisdiction requires a pedal assist. It can even be a stand in for the power pedal kit depending on how vague the laws are written.
In conclusion, this kit is awesome at what it does at its particular price point. If you need something like this to be "legal" on the road and/or trail, you will not be disappointed.

This looks so good for us overregulated europoors. 25kph 250watts limit in Belgium, to reach 250watts I will need an adjustable bac controller I guess.

Checkout “pegels” pedals that convert from pegs to pedals, very well made.
Awesome review. I'm still on the fence on whether to get the Power Pedal kit or this Electronic Power Pedal kit. I'm local in OC. I was wondering if I could drop by and check out your pedal kit.

Double check the wire colors from your throttle before you order to make sure it'll work out of the box. You can do this pretty easily by removing your bash. If the wires are blue-brown-black, you may need to buy a different throttle.

@@BrickEngines - I've had my x160 for about 3 weeks. I ordered the same Electronic Power Pedal kit. Kaniwaba shipped it out the next day. It will get here in a few days. On my x160 the throttle wires/connector are easily accessible. I didn't have to remove anything to get to them. They are right behind the bash plate. I pulled them out easily and tucked them back after looking at them. They are the correct colors so the kit will work. Thanks SoCal Sur Ron for the video review.
Thank you for the video! How do you still like it?? I live in Orange County California, and I was thinking about getting this exact kit because I wanted to have it propel the bike to assist being more of a legal ebike :-)
I actually use it exclusively now. I removed the power pedal kit and only use the electronic PAS now. I also went back to a 64T sprocket as that puts me in class 2 no assist and class 3 pedal assist speeds.
@@skyungjae sick man! Thank you 🙏 I definitely want to keep the throttle, but loved this kit because of the legality and having all the options to choose from while riding. Also, curious what your front fender mud hugger is? It’s another perfect product to help the SurRon look more like an electric bmx or mtb :-)
@@dexgray4581 it’s a mucky nutz fender. I’m also using a 26” front wheel.
I would be interested in this kit, if it could be pedaled at max speed too. I know it can be done, because I can pedal my modified BBSHD up to 40 mph due to the controller programming. Thank you for this video and information.
It will go max speed in sport mode with just pedaling. I thought I had made a video, but it does say it will per kaniwaba's website.
Does pedaling increase the range? Would pedaling work if the battery was dead?
No, you need the power pedal kit for that. Even so, the gearing is terrible for pedaling. It’s mostly for legality in certain places.

Only with the power pedal kit. If you have just the electronic PAS, you're gonna be pushing.
