Sur Ron belt tutorial - How to make your bike SILENT!

  • I mostly ride in the city and this is the best upgrade so far, it's really quiet!
    Couldn't find a good tutorial for belt transition so I made a video of the process.
    (Don't forget to tighten the balance screws at the end, you can see I forgot to tighten them on last frame.)
    I bought the belt kit on Luna Cycles shop in US. I would say its 1-2-3 hour work, depending on a skill level and luck :) but I guess it will be easy for you when you see this video.

    Great video, thank you!
    I see you are using the luna 42t kit with the stock knobbies. Have you experienced a drop in torque? I have the same set up on the way, but am considering getting a larger belt and sprocket because I read that 42t is small for 19” wheels.
    I’m new though, so let me know!
    Cheers

      To be honest I did only 1 mile on a chain so I cant really tell. But if you don't mind losing some high speed invest in a larger sprocket, I would do that too but will leave it like this for some time now.

      Thanks, I appreciate the reply.
      How are you enjoying the belt drive with the stock knobbies? Does it have good acceleration? Enough to beat cars off the line?

      @@danparker123 The start is solid, nothing too strong. I really cant tell you more about it as I don't have much experience. But when I drive around town in little streets I have no problems being fast. People comment "wow the pull, its surprising and fast". I bought the kit 4 or so months ago. It’s been sitting on the shelf. Can’t decide if I want to convert or leave it lol. I ride 60% street 40% off road, gravel woods etc. Do you have any experience with this off road? What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

    • @silentsurron7272
      @silentsurron7272  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I go around to off-road, and dirt and gravel woods and didn't had any problems, I'm around 1000 km now. It depends which kit you have, maybe to check with manufacturer is it capable to withstand stuff, I heard there are better and worse ones (belts). But at the end of the day I don't think there is any guarantee. But for anyone who is serious about off-road, like trails and stuff, I suggest chain, just because its less risk. Also, if you already have it, put it on and drive it, if it brakes it brakes :) you push the bike. Its few hours of work to put it on, or to put the chain back on if it snaps. And I don't think it can snap easily.

You have one type of belt kit on SurronShop in RU also, but a bit more expensive. The bike is so much more quieter with belt kit, and if you go slow you can only hear your tires, its amazing! just checked and its impossible as the belt needs to go in-between the frame and that part where I made a cut. Its easy with chain as you can pull it apart but belt is one part. So in short, not possible. But, that part is for pedals so it really isn't important part, its not reinforcement or anything. Also in the instructions there is no alternative, if there was an alternative they would mention it. So its 100% no.
