    Hi there, love the bike, I am looking at this and the Versys 1000, and the NT even has a handbrake

    Relative to Suzuki’s patented “easy start” system, does the NT’s “struggle-start” system have a purpose or is it a design flaw?

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure about it’s purpose, but it’s also not a design flaw as it’s the way they specifically designed it. So there must be some explanation for it.

      @@DSR1YT a short quick start requires a hard "punch" of energy to get going fast. a longer starting cycle is more gentle, and therefore less wear on the engine. especially as engines are usually cold when they are started.

      @@The_Entitythat why..i wonder if it was weak battery..thank for that information.,

    With using the cruise control, can't you reach over with your left hand to turn on/set cruise? Wouldn't be too much different from the olden days of throttling with the left hand to let the right hand have a break on long trips. The button placement does seem a bit odd tho. My only gripe about the NT and AT bikes without having ridden them is the LH switch gear. Why so many buttons? And if you're going to put cruise on the RH side, put triggers on the RH side to set speed up/down like the DCT switches on the LH side.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like you’ve mentioned, they’ve added so many buttons on the left switch gear that isn’t needed that they could have easily put the cruise on that side. Bringing your left hand over isn’t very conducive of a pleasant riding experience. It feels slightly underpowered for an 1100cc bike which isn’t helped with its weight.

    • @JDuBz815
      @JDuBz815 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DSR1YT I ride a CB1100. I'm used to underpowered, and the weight lol. Plenty of usable power down low on the CB. Guessing the NT is similar.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You got it. Easy to ride and manage, also it’s weighted nicely for slower speeds which is good to see.

      @@DSR1YT that's nice to hear. I look forward to them coming to the US. It's between the NT and the Vstrom 1050XT for me right now. Both have cruise. Honda comes with luggage, Suzuki comes with adjustable suspension. Both are expensive to buy separately from the bike.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say it depends on what type of riding you intended on doing. If it was only road riding I would say NT with the bags and pay to have the suspension professionally set up to your weight as this would be cheaper than the vstorm and paying for luggage. Get yourself on a demo ride on both and see which grabs your attention more.

    Can you not use your left hand to operate the cruise control?

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but I don’t want to be leaning over to activate it. It should be on the left hand side no matter what bike.

      @@DSR1YT thank you for replying, have to agree it would be better on the left but I assume they put it on the right as there’s enough buttons on the left side already! Ride safe

    Cursed Honda! Why won't they release the NT1100 into the USA?!?!?!
    I am SO jealous you get to ride it. Hope you had fun with it!

    • @JDuBz815
      @JDuBz815 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It'll come at some point. It's the bike they've been missing in their US lineup. Not sure why they couldn't give us fully adjustable suspension front and rear, tho. The Vstrom 1050 XT has it at $14kmsrp. I suspect the Honda suspension is perfectly adequate, but adjustments would have been nice on a tourer.

    • @UncleWally3

      Here in Canada I’ve been jonesing to trade in my beloved “fully farkled” VFR for the more sedate NT. However, the more I interpret the reviews, the more I’m glad the NT has yet to reach North America. I’m still interested, but if there’s no bike for me demo, I won’t be buying.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For its price, what you get with the bike ie bags etc. and in the bike with the electronics it’s a really good tourer bike imo. Sorry you don’t get to enjoy it. 😅

    What's wrong with Honda? They won't sell this bike in the USA. The Rebel and the Africa Twin can't handle two people comfortably and don't have the touring equipment. C'mon Honda! Fix your mistake!

    • @DSR1YT

      I’ve always seen a big change in the bike market when it comes from the bikes on offer in Europe compared to USA. You guys never seem to get all the good bikes or if you do then you don’t get all the colour options.

    Nice looking bike.
    But Why Auto???
    I don't see the point, and takes away from your riding skills earned over the years.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You could say this question to many of the newest technology. Adaptive radar cruise control, electronic suspension, cornering lights, emergency brake lights. Companies always need to to push forward with the bikes. What if someone has an injury to their left hand which means clutch control is difficult for them. This system ive heard works really well on the Africa twin 1100 when off road as it works just like a recluse clutch which enduro riders use.
      It is something Honda have developed so they put it on different bikes, NT1100, Africa twin, Rebel 1100, but it is only an option, they always offer the standard manual style clutch with these bikes. Easy enough, if you don't like it, then stick with the manual clutch.
      Hopefully you see this as a fair comeback to your comment. Ride safe.
