It’s a weird one this, I really wasn’t that impressed with the first ride. BUT - the more I rode it the more I fell for it. I’d like to do another vid on this bike as I genuinely started to enjoy it, even with the lumpy suspension. I prefer the AT as that’s the type of riding position I’m used to, plus I prefer the styling. But, the NT is not a bad bike, it’s deceptively quick (hence the amount of blurring I had to do in the vid, it just didn’t feel like I was going particularly quick). I’d 100% advise anyone who’s thinking of this bike to test ride one for themselves. 👍
I got one and love it nice to have to ride it rather than be a passenger on a big power house , car play is ace and she'll do 280 to 20 litres slow speed riding is lovely to
The word he means to say is “WALLOW” instead of “WALLOP” as the word wallow means ‘roll about’ whereas the word wallop means ‘to strike’ or ‘hit hard’ !! Hope he sees this 😊
I got this one in manual with the quickshifter. The bike is very comfortable to ride, it's predictable and has just enough power to go 2up and with luggage. The electronics package is quite good for the price. Personally i love it!
When you stopped for fuel for a moment I thought you said "I've done 100 miles in 3 quarters of an hour", you're not kidding it must be deceptively fast haha. Great honest review, I think I'll stick with my beloved FJR. Take care.
Never ever thought of this bike as a sports tourer…….just a mile munching tourer thats all. I have the DCT version and love it. A lot of bike for the money. Yeah it won’t set the world alight but personally can’t see the point of having something with 150+ BHP on our roads. Yeah I kinda sensed you were in a grumpy mood……get the bike again. It grows on you. Cheers
It did actually, I started to quite like it as the week wore on and was going to do another video at the end of the two weeks…. Except I’d got it wrong and Honda turned up to take her away at the end of the first week 😬🤦♂️ I’d love to get it again as there’s a lot more I’d like to say about this bike👍
Took this for a test drive when it first came out. Wasn’t sold on the bike it but loved the engine. Took the Africa twin out and bought one. Much better bike with the same great engine. Regarding snatchieness I’ve found I set up the two user modes. One for faster speeds and one for city roads (less power and no engine breaking) which reduces the snatch.
You said it in the first couple of minutes and I think it sums it up perfectly, it feels planted around roundabouts and stable when filtering. If anything is say it's like a massive scooter? With the snatchy fuelling, I found when I put it in D rather than Sport, for constant mid speed, it was suitably refined. Noticeably different at least. And I've realised you're on the manual, the DCT kicks down like an auto car and I found that helped with the "I'm in the wrong sodding gear again".
Oooh I know those roads very well as I live in Kent. People say there's no decent roads in the South East but you've just disproved that. I still quite fancy the NT and will test a DCT one this year. Thanks for the review!
That rear preload you added will just change where the shock is in the stroke, it isn't going to stiffen up the rear. Given your size adding extra preload was probably a good idea though to get a bit more travel on the compression stroke and a bit of a sharper rake. You can "taste" a certain lack of enthusiasm! 😆. It's saving grace is the price as you say.
Took one out at the MCN Festival. I was mostly impressed. I liked the engine, comfort and the fact that you had most of the touring extras that you would pay a grand for ordinarily. The throttle was a bit snatchy, but i got used to it, The TFT screen is very slow on start up and what's with having to press an ok button on the screen on start up? The screen adjustment is rubbish too. I thought the handling was ok, we were pressing on and I was keeping up with a CB1000R. I have a 950 Multistrada which is a great bike, but adding the extras the NT came with would add nearly £1500. Good effort Honda!
Thanks for being honest. There are a lot of bike "reviewers" who are just reading the press pack and singing its praises. CF Moto seemed to "sponsor" a few "reviews" a while back and it was just shocking how quickly these people will sell out. Integrity is something to be admired and kept - especially as so many people seem to have forgotten what it is or why its important. Top work.
Thank you Si. I’ll always say what I think, that’s something I make very clear to manufacturers and companies who want me to review anything. It’s certainly cost me as I don’t get anywhere near the amount of invites to launches etc as others do, but I’d rather do my thing and say what I think. Appreciate you commenting on that 👍
@@teapotone I'd much rather watch an honest review of a scooter on a rainy day in Wales than see someone sell out for a few free drinks in Spain. Its a breath of fresh air to see someone genuine these days. If everyone were so inclined the world would be a much better place.

@@teapotone There are a few I like but so far, for straight up honesty, I can't find a great many. There is you, John LCR (though even he seems to try to be subtle when he's saying they're crap but I put that down to manners) and - well thats about it unless you can point me at some others. Proper reviews help the breed. Bikes aren't going to improve if the makers can get away with putting some different coloured lipstick on a pig and paying for reviews. So refreshing to hear a review from someone not scared of upsetting a manufacturer. People make buying decisions on the back of TH-cam reviews and you definitely don't want to buy the wrong bike. Personally I've been very interested in the new Tiger 1200 but my local dealer says I can only try the bike for 30 mins! Think you've confirmed what I thought about this Honda. Definitely not the bike for me. Thanks for the review
I’d honestly suggest you try the Honda for yourself bud - whilst I maintain it’s not a very engaging bike initially, it does grow on you and it’s deceptively quick - just doesn’t feel it.
@@teapotone Good review Bruce, you saying it’s deceptively fast makes me think that’s actually a bad thing as it might lead riders going faster than they think they are and having problems. Stay safe
@krytenLister I agree. Actually, the dealer in question only recently came back to me after I mentioned the experience on my TH-cam channel. Apparently, it was all a big mistake. That employee has now left, and I'm welcome to a longer test.
I have a CBF1000 and was very interested when this bike was announced....africa twin engine, sports tourer, what could possibly go wrong!? Then I saw it and watched a lot of the launch reviews, and while no one on the launch could slate it for obvious reasons everyone did say how the suspension was a bit crap etc, I was mad disappointed, a lot of what you said really drilled a lot of it home too. I also am not a fan of the looks at all, I think it just leaned too far towards the tourer for me rather than the sports, both in looks and performance. Brilliant to see you on it tbh, we're similar sized and ride fairly the same too. Don't think it'll ever be a bike for me, not to say it's not a great bike for touring, I would have rathered to see a shaft drive on it if it's pure touring tho. Great vid Bruce :)
Have to admit being a bit of a Honda fanboy (owned around 20 bikes, of which 5 have been Honda - Honda still best build quality even against BMW etc.)... Honda do market this as a tourer rather than a sports-tourer. When an engine of similar capacity produces less power/torque than the competition, assuming it is well-built (Honda only do 'well' in my experience), is essentially just that the manufacturer has released it in a low-tune / state of stress. In the real-ownership-world that should translate into, good fuel economy, cheaper servicing and longevity.
‘Dad Bike’ this may be but it’s perfect for me. I ride progressively but I’m by no means a speed freak. I have the manual with quick shifter and it’s comfortable, great mpg and for me the perfect ride.
Hi Bruce, Can't say I can see the resemblence to a Hoover but my nephew once earned that nickname when he was at school so I am told Haaha :) ! I saw Chris's video about his troubles with mental health. There are many who suffer in silence and what with the way the world is going it seems to be on the increase. I need my motorbike rides more and more along with the other things I do to bring a sense of wellbeing back into the equation and sometimes I'll even have a "Blow Out" and get the pushbike out. An element of physical exercise seems to work wonders, Chris mentioned his walking helped him, exercise is part of the answer. As for the bike, I'll stick with my RE Himalayan and V Strom 1000 which is a proper V twin:) The Himalayan ofcourse is an Inline One:) Sandy
Bruce, I was surprised to hear you say that you were HAVING to trail brake after the great last two Roadcraft commentary videos. Do you think if you'd completed braking before the bend the suspension would have coped with the ripply surface better having more of the softer part of travel to work with?
Perhaps it was a sports bike day but you took out a tourer. Did you adjust the front suspension later in the weeks and if so how was it then? Very watchable review, thank you!
Cheers Alan, No mate I didn’t muck about with the front at all, only the rear. I did actually start to fall for this bike later in the week and was looking forward to doing a two week review - but they turned up after a week to take her away! I’ll try to get it again 👍
I guess if you had the suspension set up to the rider weight it'll be a different bike. How many people never touch the suspension settings to fit them. Out the box it'll be set to soft and sloppy from factorythey are all the same. Good review Bruce honest as ever top man. 👍
The RBW throttle setting at low speed is not all good when you let the ECU fiddle with the engine brake. Hope for an update. Smoothens out when turning it down.
I’d definitely test ride one bud - I actually began to enjoy riding it as the week wore on. I’d like to get one for a trip and see what it’s like to live with 👍
Thanks, nice review. Helps with decision making. I might be nitpicking….but this isn’t a parallel twin it an inline twin because the cilinders don’t move up and down at the same time.
Looks like a no no then Bruce. IMO Honda seem a bit lost at the moment with the models being a bit mediocre. You've been spoilt with the old boxer. I'm still hooked on your recent training videos. I reckon they are among some of the best training videos out there. Thank you Sir.
Thanks very much Ray, This NT1100 really did grow on me I have to admit. I actually thought I had it another week so I’d have said as much in the second vid - if I got the chance to make it 🤦♂️ It just isn’t engaging sadly, but it’s more than capable 👍
And I absolutely loved it when I rode it 😆 context is probably key here, my left knee is a bit buggered and shifting really aggravates is, so it needs to be DCT...and I preferred this to the AT I had before my current VFR.
Hi Bruce, question, not in relation to the bike funny enough. Is that a Helite airbag vest I see you wearing, how do you like it, does it work okay with the rucksack?. I was thinking of upgrading my riding gear but given its not in bad condition I was going to invest in one of the Helite vests.
Hello bud, Yes it is a Helite and it works ok with a rucksack, you just need to wear the rucksack a little bit looser over the top of the vest. I’ll be doing a vid on it soon 👍
Hi Bruce, it would be good if you took this bike out again, only getting the suspension dialed in first and without having a cobb on lol. You mentioned your right hand getting numb at the beginning but no further mention. Did that go away or not. Enjoy your review style
It’s a deceptive bike, it really does shift if you want it to - it just doesn’t make you feel like it is? I think another vid on this bike is needed as the first impressions from the first ride really don’t do this bike full justice I think. My time with it was cut short sadly so I didn’t get the chance to make another vid on it 👍
That has an impact certainly, but it definitely needed to be set to my weight as it was really suffering at speed in sweeping bends and tight corners, especially as you apply the power. Semi-active suspension would transform this bike I think, but it would add to cost substantially
I think Honda will be happier if you wake up in a better mood the next time you test one of their bikes! However, it was honest, and a good review. I've got an adventure bike that is only used for touring really, and was wondering if this one would be a better proposition...but I'm not sure - we like some character in our bikes. I think a test-ride is in order, because ultimately, thats the decider. Cheers man.
For me as a short rider this is in my top list number one with NC750x 2023. Difficult to find a tourer (I don't care about sport feeling super naturel power) that suit my height. BMW F750GS is good for my height but the NT1100 is so much confortable. I will never take any bike off road on rocks anyway. The NC750X 2023 is a lovely donkey .
I really wish I had this bike longer, it was growing on me and I feel I’ve been unfair in this first vid. It’s a good bike, it’s very quick, it just doesn’t make you feel it is, just not engaging enough for me 🤷♂️👍
@@teapotone I don't think so. I had the 2018 v strom 1000 for 3 years. Last year got the 1290 SAS. The difference is night and day. 100bhp is not enough these days on a "sports" tourer. Especially when this bike is heavier than both the Kawasaki and the suzuki.
I have no interest in this bike but I enjoy your spirited ride reviews. I too sometimes wake up in a mood and don't know why so I can relate. One thing I hate about Calimoto is that when you do na round trip, all of the roads are highlighted, so when you glance down it's like wtf? I have emailed them and they wa t a screen shot which I'll get round to. Have you noticed this?
After three GSs and looking for something lighter and lower I tried all the ‘mid range’ bikes, apart from the scooter face I found riding this bike so dull. Great build quality but it just didn’t light my fire at all. Eventually I tried the Tiger GT Pro and the Ducati Multistrada V2S, liked the Tiger but the V2 was so much fun that I ordered one. Even preferred it to the V4, shall miss the low down grunt of the GS but the V2 is full of torque and proper quick enough for the road. Seems very popular as it’s been a long wait for delivery though.
Hey Bruce great vid, the thing that alaways gets me is that you guys can refuel and pay for fuel with your helmet on here in Aus we have to remove ours before refueling even during covid and put a bloody mask on to walk in and pay.Keep up the good work mate Cheers Glenn.
Hi Glenn, Some petrol stations get arsey about wearing a helmet and make you take it off before you fill up - I tend to just go somewhere else if they do that. Most are fine with it in the UK thankfully 👍
Good for you… honest review. You’re saying all the things I felt when I rode one back in Feb. To me it came across as being a low grade riding experience. I’d rather buy a used bike from another manufacturer for the same money.
Thanks bud, But this bike really did grow on me the more I rode it during the week I had it - I actually thought I had it for two weeks so was planning to do another vid we’re I was a bit more in love with it… then Honda turned up to take it away 😢😬🤦♂️🤣 However, it simply isn’t engaging enough for me personally 👍
@@teapotone I’d don’t mind a boring bike but I just couldn’t live the vibes on the NT, same as the Africa Twin. I can’t understand why people are satisfied with a bike chucking out big vibes. Each to their own I suppose. Keep up the good work 👍👏
Just a thought but how about a review on a kliktronic system? Its designed for disabled riders (I used a few at the Bike Experience) but it should work on most bikes if people want an option other than DCT. It doesn't make it auto but it does allow button shifts so for people with dodgy (or no) leg strength its a very helpful system.
G’day Bruce I think there’s a big guy in realising that if you take a bike off the showroom floor I would normally adjust a bike and suspension to compensate for this I understand it’s just a test ride but I think with a bit of Fitterling it would probably ride better
Enjoyed that review thanks. It's one I've been looking at myself. Have watched the other reviews by RevZolution, VisorDown, BikerDan, ManCave and others. Great to hear different views. As probably the 'tallest' tester, how did you find it for the period you had it ergonomics wise?
Cheers Rich, No I haven’t seen any reviews on it tbh - I generally watch very little bike related TH-cam actually. It felt a bit sportier than the RT for sure in terms of peg height, but it was t horrendous. This bike grew on me the more I rode it. I actually thought I had it for two weeks so was going to do another vid, a proper thorough review of it. However Honda arrived to pick it up after a week so I’ll see if I can get it again another time. It’s a very deceptive bike. Really didn’t think it was very quick, but watching the footage back during the edit, I could see it was actually really cracking on in places! Very good bike for the price 👍
Was expecting a 1100cc Honda Deauville with shaft-drive !! - (Chain on a tourer?) Honda Deauville had shaft - same engine in the Honda Transalp 650/700 with a chain- so engine/gearbox cross-fertilisation possible.
Seems a bit daft they haven't done a model with the electronic suspension off the AT would solve most those issues you noticed. I bet the dealers hadn't set up the self cancelling indicators can be done on the settings on the screen. It's a tourer but not a sports tourer, I'm sure it will work for some takes a decent payload and understressed engine etc. For me I'LL keep my ATAS which does it all. Not everyone needs 159bhp so does fill a gap but looks ugly, based on the 750 x adv same designer but that's a big scooter! Great review and yes we all have those days waking up with a cob on 😩
Interesting review Bruce. Watched this after the Suzuki test when you referenced back that you liked it more after the event than during. It does look bland and your on bike review showed you felt it was bland at the time, Yet fast. Probably better to buy a bike that feels fast when it isn’t. Safer on the licence as well as feel better after a ride. Hope to see you at either Excel or the Wildbad weekender again Bruce. Regards Brian.
Hello bud, Yep you nailed it there for me, better to have a bike that feels fast and engaging… but looking back I thought the Honda was a better bike overall for me 🤷♂️ Shows the pitfalls of a quick test ride doesn’t it, you don’t get a true appreciation for a bike unless you spend some time and miles on it 👍
I’m not a BMW fanboy bud, I’m a Gixxer man through and through, but I prefer an engine with low-down grunt and useable power for the road, as appears to a high-revving engine that only comes alive at daft speeds. The GSX-S1000 felt a much more useable engine compared to the GT for some reason, no idea why
@@teapotone Sorry Bruce no offence meant - its just you always ride and rave about your GS and compare most road bikes to that, and your Gixxer, I understood to have become a loved procession in your garage. My misunderstanding.
No offence taken bud, I do think the GS is still the best bike in the world overall FOR ME 😉 I use it a baseline purely because it’s one of the most popular bikes in the world and so many people out there either own one or have ridden one - just gives people something to compare to in their mindseye 👍
You are without doubt one of the best and enjoyable road testers. You can ride perfectly safely whilst giving the bike the beans. The NT1100 manual stands no chance against some of its rivals but in DCT mode as we know it has no rivals.
Your review makes me think different bike , compared to other reviews which are more positive . Suppose nowt beats a GS the mondeo of the biking world !..haha
Yeah I’ve been told that by a lot of people, that other reviews are much more positive - yet when I speak to people who have ridden the bike, they all tend to agree with me? 🤷♂️
Thanks, best review of this bike I've seen. Agree with you about the suspension over bumpy roads which, combined with the throttle response, can make for a very unpleasant riding experience.
Cheers Bob, I wish I’d had the bike another week longer as I was actually starting to bond with it. It’s a VERY deceptive bike, actually a lot quicker and dynamic than I give it credit for in this vid, it was only when I came to editing the footage that I realised how quick I’d been going 😬🤦♂️ Lot of bike for the money in todays market, but styling lets it down for sure personally 👍
Rode it a few months back , not as er cough quickly as you must admit , thought it was a good bike ,and hey not everyone has or wants to spend 22k + on a motorcycle , I found the switchgear annoying and maybe I prefer a v twin ... like you seemed too mr tea 😄
great review bruce .. i was stuck between the nt manual or the tracer 9gt ..i went for the tracer ,mainly because it was in stock and the nt had a long waiting time ...so glad i went with the yam ,your not the only guy who's said the nt could /should be alot better then it is ...keep up the good work bruce ,your a top bloke ;)
Yep I’m not entirely sure what Honda are trying to achieve with this bike. It’s not up to competing with the ZX or GSXR GT and sort of sits in its own little area below those. Unless Honda are going to pump them out on great PCP plans then I can’t really see them shifting many.
I’ve just ridden the Suzuki GT actually, and tbh I’d rather have the Honda - felt better built and more comfortable. Suzuki feels very quick, and more engaging though 🤷♂️
@@teapotone interesting I had a go on the GT and really liked it and for 150 bhp I thought it was a bit of a bargain! I would of liked to see Honda do a GT version of their CB1000R.
I say in the vid, it’s a very deceptive bike. I genuinely wish I’d had the bike for another week as I was really starting to enjoy it by the end of the week. I’d planned on doing a follow up vid at the end of the 2 weeks, but Honda came and took it back after the first week 😬🤷♂️
Sadly yes - it seems to have the same suspension, Chasis and engine essentially, give or take a few alterations. Would still love to ride one though to see for myself obviously 😉👍
DCT is way to go rather than quick shifter. Put into sport mode 2 and then use paddle shift to drop down if need be. However Looks dont do it for me, will stick with Africa Twin.
@@teapotone Went on NC500 Last year with a couple of mates on RT1200 and they were knackered on all the back winding roads, constantly going up and down the gears. Left them standing. Need to make sure you have in correct sport mode and engine braking and then just use paddle shift to drop it down one or two for overtakes. I never thought i would like DCT but love it. Only have the CRF1000 and still happy with it after 9000 miles. Still want GS Adventure but cant justify cost for toy in garage and weekend use.
I am really considering one of these......I'm on a Crosstourer DCT at the moment. Other than the drop in power my biggest concern is the bouncy front.....I wonder would a set of aftermarket progressive springs transform it ??? Also the drop in weight from my 285kg Crossstourer miht nulify the power deficit?
I bought the bike in April done 6000 miles on it done the Picos Southern Spain , Portugal we can’t be riding the same bike mine doesn’t behave like the one you were riding , swapped a tiger 900 gt pro for the Honda if you are talking vibey you haven’t ridden the Triumph my Honda hasn’t got a vibe in it , I think you got out of the bed the wrong side or some one at Honda upset you ,ride the bike again and give it an honest review it’s a tourer not a sports bike 👍
Watching this video again and it's just struck me what I don't like about the dash display. It has all the appeal of a pocket calculator. It's function and no form. There's just nothing about it (the display) that says "This is for enjoyment" It's just crammed with small info and boringly presented. Compare that to a GS (the king of TFT's) a Multistrada, or even...the Triumph Tiger 1200 display and they are STREETS ahead.
I think this is the "Africa Twin" for those who don't want to leave the tarmac at all. To me it is tame or even lame, and I very much prefer the true CRF 1000 L Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT.
Snatchy throttle, grabby brakes, no grunt, boring on the motorway, non engaging, front end diving, soft sloppy suspension. I'm getting a Honda Civic vibe here and will keep my 20 year old Blackbird.
Well that seems a complete flop. And I don't like the Boxer engine. The Kawasaki Z1000SX beats all the bikes you mentioned. Nice honest review to put everyone of this one. Cheers.
It's a honda so it more than likely will run for 200k plus miles but I'd rather have a bike that will fall apart after 100k but will give me years of fun..
You don't sound overly impressed. It's the same engine as the Africa Twin, what does it feel like in comparison?

Stay safe
30mins ! What use is that? Tell them BMW will let you take their bikes out all day to get a proper test ride
Watch his review of the Suzuki GT and he changes his mind about this bike. Good on ya Tp1 keep it up 😊
Have to admit being a bit of a Honda fanboy (owned around 20 bikes, of which 5 have been Honda - Honda still best build quality even against BMW etc.)...
Good review,I am taking a test ride next Saturday on 2024 NT 1100 ,so now I know what to look out for, cheers 👍Manxman 🇮🇲
Hi Bruce,
Can't say I can see the resemblence to a Hoover but my nephew once earned that nickname when he was at school so I am told Haaha :) !
As for the bike, I'll stick with my RE Himalayan and V Strom 1000 which is a proper V twin:) The Himalayan ofcourse is an Inline One:)
Sandy
Cheers Sandy,
Aye I find rowing really does help to clear the air a bit, or walking the dog 👍
Good to see a proper test report , pluses and minuses,a lot of you tube people never criticise , I have new Wing brilliant you should try it ?
Cheers John,
I’m hoping to get the new Wing when their press bike becomes available, loved the one I took out last year 👍
Bruce, I was surprised to hear you say that you were HAVING to trail brake after the great last two Roadcraft commentary videos. Do you think if you'd completed braking before the bend the suspension would have coped with the ripply surface better having more of the softer part of travel to work with?
No, the issues were because of applying power through and out the bend mostly
I was going to get one but opted for a Yamaha Tracer 9 GT. Glad I did now thanks to your review.
Re-make of the CBF1000, anyone else see the likeness, or is it just me. Keep telling it like it is and I will keep watching.
Perhaps it was a sports bike day but you took out a tourer. Did you adjust the front suspension later in the weeks and if so how was it then? Very watchable review, thank you!
Cheers Alan,
No mate I didn’t muck about with the front at all, only the rear.
Love it Bruce - "got a cob on....."
Hope you are well mate. Thanks for the vid. I was going to test ride this. Still un decided. I’m still riding down to the “job” every week.
I’d definitely test ride one bud - I actually began to enjoy riding it as the week wore on.
I’d like to get one for a trip and see what it’s like to live with 👍
@@teapotone I have a feeling , for me it’s a bike I could live with. Motorway down to the city then filtering into SW1
Thanks very much Ray,
This NT1100 really did grow on me I have to admit. I actually thought I had it another week so I’d have said as much in the second vid - if I got the chance to make it 🤦♂️
It just isn’t engaging sadly, but it’s more than capable 👍
The ultimate dad bike, safe, boring, a little podgey around the middle, communicating to all, 'I've given up on life'.
🤣👍
And I absolutely loved it when I rode it 😆 context is probably key here, my left knee is a bit buggered and shifting really aggravates is, so it needs to be DCT...and I preferred this to the AT I had before my current VFR.
😂😂😂😂
@@richandiben a good point, you wouldn't be on two wheels at all would you?
Hi Bruce, question, not in relation to the bike funny enough. Is that a Helite airbag vest I see you wearing, how do you like it, does it work okay with the rucksack?. I was thinking of upgrading my riding gear but given its not in bad condition I was going to invest in one of the Helite vests.
Hello bud,
Yes it is a Helite and it works ok with a rucksack, you just need to wear the rucksack a little bit looser over the top of the vest.
I’ll be doing a vid on it soon 👍
ahh towrards Rye.... i will keep an eye out for you in future :)
was down camber sands way the other day
Hi Bruce, it would be good if you took this bike out again, only getting the suspension dialed in first and without having a cobb on lol. You mentioned your right hand getting numb at the beginning but no further mention. Did that go away or not. Enjoy your review style
It's perfect for pedestrian, old fart touring (I'm 60). I love it...
It’s a deceptive bike, it really does shift if you want it to - it just doesn’t make you feel like it is?
I think another vid on this bike is needed as the first impressions from the first ride really don’t do this bike full justice I think.
My time with it was cut short sadly so I didn’t get the chance to make another vid on it 👍
@@teapotone thank you for replying.
Damnit people, go ride one before passing judgement.
100% 👍
Do you think it feels a bit spongy because your too used to the Gs wishbone suspension?
That has an impact certainly, but it definitely needed to be set to my weight as it was really suffering at speed in sweeping bends and tight corners, especially as you apply the power.
Semi-active suspension would transform this bike I think, but it would add to cost substantially
@@teapotone I see looks like something needs doing with the shocks if I was on it I think it would need some hefty gas shocks lol
I wonder how old an RT or GS you could get for £12k? Or even the FJR? Just took a look - there are 2yo FJR1300s available for about that price.
Cheers man.
Back in the day these were known as the Honda dullville, for good reason. Seems not a lot has changed hey.
....parallel twin....🤦♂️!! Crackin review, still feeling safe with my Multi V2S order.👍
Nice review, love your work.
Doesn't motivate me to trade in the ol XR thoug
Thanks Peter 👍
Brilliant video well produced.
Thank you Simon 👍
In this category, at this point there seems to be only 2 sensible choices. Ninja 1000sx and the GSX S1000 GT.
Yep when you initially head off it can be confusing which way you need to go, you have to take note of the directional arrows up in the top right 👍
After three GSs and looking for something lighter and lower I tried all the ‘mid range’ bikes, apart from the scooter face I found riding this bike so dull.
Funny you should say that about the V2 - two of my mates test rode them and instantly bought them.
I may need to ‘borrow’ one 😉👍
Great video Bruce
What's your thoughts on the bmw r1250 rt ?
Loved it

@@teapotone very nice bike mate 👍 👌
It’s like the Honda Accord 4-cylinder of the motorbike world… kind of a bummer. I am sure it will go for 250k reliability however
Hey Bruce great vid, the thing that alaways gets me is that you guys can refuel and pay for fuel with your helmet on here in Aus we have to remove ours before refueling even during covid and put a bloody mask on to walk in and pay.Keep up the good work mate Cheers Glenn.
Hi Glenn,
Some petrol stations get arsey about wearing a helmet and make you take it off before you fill up - I tend to just go somewhere else if they do that.
Most are fine with it in the UK thankfully 👍
Good for you… honest review. You’re saying all the things I felt when I rode one back in Feb. To me it came across as being a low grade riding experience. I’d rather buy a used bike from another manufacturer for the same money.
Thanks bud,
But this bike really did grow on me the more I rode it during the week I had it - I actually thought I had it for two weeks so was planning to do another vid we’re I was a bit more in love with it… then Honda turned up to take it away 😢😬🤦♂️🤣
However, it simply isn’t engaging enough for me personally 👍
@@teapotone I’d don’t mind a boring bike but I just couldn’t live the vibes on the NT, same as the Africa Twin. I can’t understand why people are satisfied with a bike chucking out big vibes. Each to their own I suppose. Keep up the good work 👍👏
Love your bike reviews brother. I remember buying my Tiger 1200 after watching your review of that bike. Keep ‘em rolling!
Cheers Bob 👍
Just a thought but how about a review on a kliktronic system? Its designed for disabled riders (I used a few at the Bike Experience) but it should work on most bikes if people want an option other than DCT.
It doesn't make it auto but it does allow button shifts so for people with dodgy (or no) leg strength its a very helpful system.
great vid again ! xx
Thanks very much
G’day Bruce I think there’s a big guy in realising that if you take a bike off the showroom floor I would normally adjust a bike and suspension to compensate for this I understand it’s just a test ride but I think with a bit of Fitterling it would probably ride better
Great as always
Thanks 👍
Enjoyed that review thanks. It's one I've been looking at myself.
Have watched the other reviews by RevZolution, VisorDown, BikerDan, ManCave and others. Great to hear different views. As probably the 'tallest' tester, how did you find it for the period you had it ergonomics wise?
Cheers Rich,
No I haven’t seen any reviews on it tbh - I generally watch very little bike related TH-cam actually.
You need to ride this bike again
Was expecting a 1100cc Honda Deauville with shaft-drive !! - (Chain on a tourer?)
Honda Deauville had shaft - same engine in the Honda Transalp 650/700 with a chain-
so engine/gearbox cross-fertilisation possible.
Will you try the DCT version?
If Honda give me it then I’ll gladly give it a hurl 👍
Good review 👍🏻
The Q/Shifter isn’t standard BTW. It’s £200+
Ah apologies, I was told it was 🤷♂️👍
350 for the comfy seat , and 500 for colour matched top box .
Brilliant episode, probably the most informative I've seen on you tube. Brilliant more this please 😎😎
Cheers Andrew 👍
Seems a bit daft they haven't done a model with the electronic suspension off the AT would solve most those issues you noticed. I bet the dealers hadn't set up the self cancelling indicators can be done on the settings on the screen. It's a tourer but not a sports tourer, I'm sure it will work for some takes a decent payload and understressed engine etc. For me I'LL keep my ATAS which does it all. Not everyone needs 159bhp so does fill a gap but looks ugly, based on the 750 x adv same designer but that's a big scooter! Great review and yes we all have those days waking up with a cob on 😩
Totally agree, semi active suspension would transform this bikes ride but it would also take it WAY above the £12k price band it’s in 👍
Interesting review Bruce.
Hello bud,
Yep you nailed it there for me, better to have a bike that feels fast and engaging… but looking back I thought the Honda was a better bike overall for me 🤷♂️
Shows the pitfalls of a quick test ride doesn’t it, you don’t get a true appreciation for a bike unless you spend some time and miles on it 👍
@@teapotone do you think it's also got something to do with your preferences related to twins rather than 4s, being a BMW fan boy?
I’m not a BMW fanboy bud, I’m a Gixxer man through and through, but I prefer an engine with low-down grunt and useable power for the road, as appears to a high-revving engine that only comes alive at daft speeds.
The GSX-S1000 felt a much more useable engine compared to the GT for some reason, no idea why
@@teapotone Sorry Bruce no offence meant - its just you always ride and rave about your GS and compare most road bikes to that, and your Gixxer, I understood to have become a loved procession in your garage. My misunderstanding.
No offence taken bud, I do think the GS is still the best bike in the world overall FOR ME 😉
I use it a baseline purely because it’s one of the most popular bikes in the world and so many people out there either own one or have ridden one - just gives people something to compare to in their mindseye 👍
You are without doubt one of the best and enjoyable road testers. You can ride perfectly safely whilst giving the bike the beans. The NT1100 manual stands no chance against some of its rivals but in DCT mode as we know it has no rivals.
Pity you don’t know the difference between Vee & Parallel twins though😎
You sound like your on a downer Bruce...keep at it. [ lovely v-twin, triple in line four😅😅😅 ]
I am sure many of us can relate to good & bad days on &/or off the bike. Candid review- thanks
Top vlog boyo
Thanks bud 👍
Nice bike
Thanks, best review of this bike I've seen. Agree with you about the suspension over bumpy roads which, combined with the throttle response, can make for a very unpleasant riding experience.
Cheers Bob,
I wish I’d had the bike another week longer as I was actually starting to bond with it.
It’s a VERY deceptive bike, actually a lot quicker and dynamic than I give it credit for in this vid, it was only when I came to editing the footage that I realised how quick I’d been going 😬🤦♂️
Lot of bike for the money in todays market, but styling lets it down for sure personally 👍
Have you tried the vfr1200x cross tourer?
Nope
Rode it a few months back , not as er cough quickly as you must admit , thought it was a good bike ,and hey not everyone has or wants to spend 22k + on a motorcycle , I found the switchgear annoying and maybe I prefer a v twin ... like you seemed too mr tea 😄
This 'Vtwin' didn't appear to be as good as the other Vtwins.
great review bruce .. i was stuck between the nt manual or the tracer 9gt ..i went for the tracer ,mainly because it was in stock and the nt had a long waiting time ...so glad i went with the yam ,your not the only guy who's said the nt could /should be alot better then it is ...keep up the good work bruce ,your a top bloke ;)

Had both Tracer9s,for a tourer, Honda....800 mile days,I was like John Wayne getting off a nag!
Its a touring/sport bike not a sport/touring Honda got it right and for a decent price I would buy one.
Good honest review with everything you need to know. Good effort mate. 👍
Cheers Richard 👍
I think the question we have all been asking is:
Is this as boring as it looks?
And it seems to be a yes.
It’s VERY deceptive. It really is quite rapid, but just doesn’t feel like it is. Not engaging at all sadly
@@teapotone do you think the Hawk 11 will be the same?
Sadly yes - it seems to have the same suspension, Chasis and engine essentially, give or take a few alterations.
Would still love to ride one though to see for myself obviously 😉👍

I’m trying 👍
It sounds okay tho?
Aye it sounds good under drive doesn’t it 👍

Got a cob on hey.
Join the club.
Wheres that place with sand near the sea???
Camber Sands down in the Sth East
I hit the like button during the great intro 🙂 Surely a modern 1100 twin can be tuned to give a torquey 120hp ?
DCT is way to go rather than quick shifter. Put into sport mode 2 and then use paddle shift to drop down if need be. However Looks dont do it for me, will stick with Africa Twin.
Really don’t like the DCT, it’s great on the Goldwing but I hated it on the AT
@@teapotone Went on NC500 Last year with a couple of mates on RT1200 and they were knackered on all the back winding roads, constantly going up and down the gears.
Do you often wake up with a 'cob on' Bruce?
Not as I’ve progressed in years, but occasionally it happens 😉
@@teapotone You rode near my house again and I was in Canturbury this morning trying out the Touno 660 and FTR1200
I am really considering one of these......I'm on a Crosstourer DCT at the moment.
Or maybe it's the Road Africa Twin for those people that don't have 5 foot long legs.
dct is for girls
"NT 1100" does that stand for No Tinkling 1100 milliliters while TH-cam filming?
Snatchy throttle, grabby brakes, no grunt, boring on the motorway, non engaging, front end diving, soft sloppy suspension. I'm getting a Honda Civic vibe here and will keep my 20 year old Blackbird.
Be interesting to see what you think of this budget GT bike against the Suzi! 😜
I’ve just ridden the Suzuki GT the other day actually, vid coming soon 👍
@@teapotone I’ll be watching, as I’m teetering on the edge of whether to swap my 1050 Speed Triple for the Suzuki!.

All that hedge and you can't find anywhere to take a leak?
Even I didn't enjoy the corners and sweeping bends and wasn't riding it. 🥴
